I made a thread some time ago where i said solo q was in the worst state ever.
Well i was wrong.
NOW it’s in the worst state ever, to the point that i don’t even understand why so many horrible players even queue.
Moreover everytime i play, ranked people are like 2/10 ( wut), sometimes totally none.
Has EU really reached NA level ?
I’m getting so discouraged that i may even try to play with a team. OMG.
Reached NA level? I would say they were always on par (good or bad). Saying one was ahead or behind the other was nothing more than egos getting carried away.
Sorry, this is incorrect. The level of competition and general competence of SoloQ rotations & individual player skill in EU region is pretty overwhelmingly better than NA. Many EU players especially can vouch for this.
I can confirm that NA SoloQ is HORRIBLE compared to EU. I bought a new GW2 account for NA months ago and I have just moved it to EU because I couldn’t stand what I was seeing in NA SoloQ – It still gives me nightmares.
Anyway – SoloQ is pretty bad in EU at the moment because the good players are waiting for April 15th – That’s all. Take a break!

The SMART way would of been to do it like 60>70 and 70>80 etc.
About lyssa it’s a good change, now if u use it without any conditions you get no boons, if you have conditions, 5 conditions are converted in boons.
This is a BIG DEAL. I hope people understand how much the Lyssa nerf will affect Mesmers & Thieves.

How would a slightly better Hotjoin be better for the game?
Solo Arena is a great place for people to improve without having to waste time looking for a team. It also helps you with your awareness as you have no one on TS to explain to you where the opposing players are etc.
If you had to choose one, would you prefer RANKED Solo Arena, or UNRANKED Team Arena?
Definitely ranked Solo Arena.
I think the hot-join system has its flaws, and we need to try to move the players to a more structured environment, but not for the cost of the SoloQ.
All the PvE & WvW I talk to are mostly complaining about three core points, why they do not enjoy SPvP:
- Transition from PvE/WvW is too difficult, they cannot play the same way they are playing PvE/WvW, too to stat, rune and sigil limitations.
- There is no reward involved, which would interest them to play more SPvP.
- SPvP is just a mindless zerg fest.
While the first two points hopefully will get fixed with the feature patch, the third one remains a problem.
In hot-join you just jump into a most likely ongoing match, follow the zerg from one point to another, farming other players or getting farmed, resulting in constantly leaving players on the loosing team, auto-balance and more leaving players. I don’t think you can really get a good playing experience out of this mess.
The only good thing from hot-join is that you can test out your trait setup for the first time, and jump out immediately if you forgot something or made a mistake somewhere.
Changing the ‘play now’ button from 8vs8 to 5vs5 might help as a start, but it will not fix the problem.
A perfect league system coupled with a good reward structure might help to lead the players to the better structured play experience in the form of the SoloQ or TeamQ.
I just think, that a lot of players are afraid of their performance in the rated queuing system. Other people will see them at a the low end of the ladder or after climbing it, they are afraid to loose their achievement, and therefore they are looking for a unranked queuing system.Since the player skill level can be very different, you’d still need a MMR-mechanism in this unranked queuing system, to avoid unbalanced matches and frustrated players.
BTT: Since we cannot have both, I’d still prefer a better league system, taking care of those fears (mentioned above), instead of completely removing the SoloQ.
We have enough players who wants to play on a casual-competitive level, achieving in SoloQ as much as possible, to show off their individual achievements, without being forced to play TeamQ to do so. [Not to mention, that I don’t like the idea of better TeamQ rewards per match, which pulled a lot of players from SoloQ into queuing TeamQ alone. The MMR system is only good as long as the pool of players is big enough, and with the higher teamQ-rank point rewards, the SoloQ playerbase is far too small.]
We all want a good league-based system coupled with rewards for better incentives. With the removal of the ranked SoloQ you’d take those incentives away from of your players.

Unranked Team Arena seems like it should replace Hotjoin not Solo Arena.
I would be extremely disappointed if you were to remove Solo Arena.
I find it strange how nobody really complained about D/P and S/D until S/P became popular. S/D evades were pretty much the only thing people whined about.
It’s really sad that people can’t be bothered to find ways around their struggles with certain classes. I do understand the complaints from Elementalists and sometimes Mesmers though.

It is so easy to abuse this system by playing only one match every 1 or 2 weeks.

Pistol Whip is clearly the problem – Just lower the damage for now and see what happens.
It’ll be a mistake to start messing about with traits that will affect D/P or S/D.
It’s strong and incredibly easy to play but compared to the warrior, it doesn’t even come close to being as overpowered as they are.

SoloQ has been pretty horrible lately for this reason as well as leaving Skyhammer in the map rotation.
I know it is extremely unlikely but I would like to see an ArenaNet response on this.

Most people may not hate Skyhammer… BUT I don’t think there is anyone at all that wants it to stay if it causes SoloQ to become half as active as it could be without it.
Seriously – JUST REMOVE IT.
The majority do not care if Skyhammer stays or not but I don’t think many people actually really want it to stay meaning it should probably be removed.

I would love to hear what a developer has to say about this as I am so sick of hearing this brought up so often and it being ignored even though it makes complete sense.
ArenaNet – Why would you wait so long to nerf something like this? Just add it into the next patch! It’s not even a big nerf but it’ll be enough to keep people going till the actual balance patch in a couple of months.
I just can’t think of a reason for you not to do this.
One dev mentioned that he fixed the bug which prevented rank points from tournament wins to count towards the title.

Yep – This is one thing that I thought would definitely be in this update but not even this.
The first ‘feature build’ as we’re calling it, won’t go live until the current Living World story arc wraps up. The next feature build will contain substantial PvP updates, the balance items we talked about on Friday, and hopefully even more things that we aren’t ready to talk about yet.
The scope of the balance changes going in is massive. Honestly, putting all of the changes we talked about on Friday straight into the game today would have been extremely kneejerk, and I’m sure many of you would agree that some of the changes needed additional eyes on them before they hit live. We want the time to go through the feedback and make adjustments, and we’re already doing that.
I’m sorry if we gave you the impression that there would be a balance update today – that was not our intent.

It was pretty obvious the balance patch wasn’t coming seeing as I think they said they would put the balance preview notes up sometime in the next month. Balance patch will probably be early March.
I expected some type of PvP update though. After this, I feel like I have been pushed away from this game more than ever – I am so tired of being disappointed by ArenaNet.
I hope this fix gets in today’s patch.

There was no reason not to do this – I guess they don’t know how to implement it.
It may sound stupid but I have been trying to queue up for SoloQ for the last hour but I have to cancel it at 8-10 mins otherwise I will get an extremely terrible game not worth playing. I have been doing this for nearly an hour now.
SoloQ is pretty dead.
People rarely talk in any part of this game especially sPvP. It’s boring.
GW2 sPvP is just depressing in nearly every way possible yet for some reason I still play it.
Why haven’t they replied to this yet?
I am sure this must be possible to do and it really has no flaws to it at all.
I am top 25 europe solo q with more than 1.500 games and I love this map.
The map is ORIGINAL.
The map requires EXPERIENCE & SKILL.
The map enriches conquest mode diversity build & FUN. BIG FUN.For me everyone who cries at this map is just a BIG SCRUB without any skill, experience, or competitive aim // RESILIENCE to win a game.

Agreed. I have over 2500 SoloQ games and I love this map. I don’t always play something built for Skyhammer and I still enjoy it. Why? I don’t get pulled off every second because I actually position myself well.

I do not think they should remove rank. Why?
They should keep rank for the purpose of getting finishers. The rank should not be visible to anybody else meaning that no one will use it as a measure of skill.

I don’t think rank should be removed.
Why not hide them from everybody and let it be there for the sake of getting finishers. Just a little something extra on the side to work towards.

I was Rank 64 – I got 9 wins in a row and came out as Rank 23. I take it that if people above me are not playing then it is extremely hard to overtake them…

It reminds me of the time when my SoloQ ‘Go Now’ button turned into a HJ ‘Play Now’ button and was taking me to random HJ servers.

why on earth do i get matched with such newbies at primetime 21:00 ? Arenanet can you explain me why i get matched with people which are rank 1000+ while i am top 50 on leaderboards?Why on earth are you purposely afking in solo queue and making everyone’s experience miserable?
He has been doing this for months now. He has been reported over and over again but nothing has ever been done.
Decay should just be based on matches/7~ days.
But with decay starting after two hours and progressively building, that means the leaderboards would lean more towards ‘how consistently you play’ instead of the original intention of ‘how good you are’.Unfortunately, I have to agree. It is really frustrating to have your rank dropping just because you don’t have time for the game. Lowering the rank after 1 month or 2 weeks of afk’ing sounds more fair to me, but 2 hours… this is too harsh.
The decay after a few hours is basically non-existant.
And man get a grip. If you dont have time to play your rank will drop. Get over it. Why should you keep your position blocking the way for those who ACTUALLY play the game.

I am Top 100 in SoloQ on EU and I have been placed with 9 ‘Unranked’ players 3 times in a row now. They were all different players as well.
Something is not right…
I just got a SoloQ pop while being in SoloQ.
Basically – I got taken out of my SoloQ match to be placed in another SoloQ match.
My brain hurts…
For SoloQ – I love it!
Enemy players need to be slightly faded though – Sometimes I get confused what team I am on.
Just had 4 games on EU – 3 were very close.
