If you ever want to create a competitive scene (not espawtz) then “Leaderboards & Ladders” are pretty much everything along with the obvious things such as balance.
How much longer must we wait? Weeks? Months? Years?
I would say PvE players have forced out the PvP players. I can no longer play SoloQ because of how horrible it has become and I don’t enjoy TeamQ (I don’t like playing against PUGs) so I have basically given up at the moment. I just don’t feel like logging in anymore.
off-topic but since you are the Scorpin Wire King can you help me understand why most of the time when I used Scorpion Wire on someone who does not see me coming, has no stability, and no aegis, I hit them with Scorpion Wire and they just fall down where they are at but it does not pull them to me? It happens nearly every time it seems.
They have to be in COMBAT.
Stealth > Stand on ‘Glass’ > Bow 1 (Immobilize) > Pull
Didn’t watch it but not surprised TCG won if their roster was as such. The finals being close are a surprise but finals are always close because teams play conservatively as the games matter more. IMO Hellseth is actually the best player in the game, or the best person I have seen play when he streams, where his clicks are quick and his reactions are quick and smart. So you take cheese modes best players and add them to the best player and not really a surprise they won. GG to blu for organising and putting the time in.
I wouldn’t waste (much) time watching video games on the internet when I could be doing other stuff. But the fact people watched this tournament can only be a good thing for the game, espically as balance/meta is way more skill based than previously.
Edit: Also nice that the best two teams were kept apart till the end. Always helps a tournament to look good
In my opinion, I would say Helseth is the weaker player of the team. I think Tage is the player that impresses me the most in GW2. Rom & Sizer (as S/D) are great players as well. I don’t know Denshee’s play that well so I can’t say much there.

They don’t want to double the amount of players in SoloQ.
Success? It was a massive failure. It brought very few good players back and the ones that came back are already leaving again. It didn’t really bring anyone into sPvP that actually cares for being competitive. The queues for me are actually longer than they were before the patch which shocks me. The balance is more diverse but it is still pretty bad and the condition spam is out of control in my opinion.

I’m not sure where you got that idea. And solo que is casual, you cant call yourself anything but if you can’t be asked to put a team together. Don’t delude yourself into thinking otherwise.
I’m not trying to be an elitist scumbag, you don’t have to be MLG pr0 to get 5 people together and que up, they don’t even have to be your friends. Just ask for the roles you need in the lobby, ask for them to have a mic if you want, and there you go no more “PvE baddies” in your games.
SoloQ can be more competitive than TeamQ especially for a DECENT player. Players who play TeamQ only are often bad because they have no practice other than destroying PUGs 500-0.
I play for the struggle to win and SoloQ gives me that challenge far more than TeamQ does.
I fell asleep in my chair while watching which I never do. It’s incredibly boring to watch and listen to.
I just can’t get into it – Nothing impresses me when watching GW2. I spent years watching SC2 and it would amaze me at how impressive some of the players were – It doesn’t happen with this game at all.

Agreed, I think this right here is one of the positive things to take away from this tournament. The winning comp had no hambow, necro, bomb-nade engi or spirit ranger. Sizer’s Acro/Trickery S/D (2-0-0-6-6) still has far too many evades, but I’m willing to look past it since by GW2’s standards TCG’s comp had very little cheese overall. Had Sizer gone man mode and played D/P Trickery, TCG’s comp would have been even more salute-worthy. But even as it is, big props to all of them for paving the way for a more old school power-based meta.
Not to mention Helseth can finally rock the Bifrost and stop
beggingbullying people for gold on his stream. #Rainbowfootsteps
I am not sure how effective the 2-0-0-6-6 build is. It’s something I came up with a couple of weeks before patch and told people to try it because I don’t play S/D but nobody really listened and thought I was silly for it – Haha. I tried it but felt like it didn’t do enough damage but like I said, I don’t play S/D.

Solo que is the new hotjoin, there’s now no options available for anyone who wants to actually try their hand at a more serious version of pvp without a full team.
Solo que wasn’t the greatest before patch, but solo que atm is beyond a joke, worse than hotjoin ever was.
It’s sad because decent players don’t have anywhere to play anymore when their teams aren’t online etc.

Just because some people end up there randomly does not mean that everybody did.
I had to get 24-2 to get from Rank 140 to Rank 8ish on my second account – Not easy to do. Both losses were 4v5’s and none of my wins were 5v4. I think this pretty much proves that not everybody gets there through luck only.
I and some of the other stronger SoloQ players who I have spoken to don’t like having to rely on each other to be online at the same time etc.
I also hate all the ‘time wasting’ that happens like

‘be back in 10 minz, waiting for pizza’
‘i got lag, gotta reset internet’
After that, you have to queue into a match where you destroy some randoms 500-0.
That’s how I feel and other people I have spoken to who SoloQ and rarely TeamQ.
To be honest, SoloQ is bad at the moment because Hotjoin has a daily cap on how much you can progress on the reward tracks. They need to remove that as soon as possible. Newbies don’t want to SoloQ yet but they feel forced to because they want to be rewarded which I don’t blame them for.
The FEATURE patch was an absolute failure when it comes to sPvP. I no longer have anywhere to play because I dislike TeamQ (I hate destroying PUGs) and SoloQ has become absolutely horrible to play. I feel like I got no choice but to leave this game at the moment. It sucks that I waited so long believing that ArenaNet would change things but they clearly don’t care and can’t be bothered to make the effort to listen to the players who know what they are talking about.
Pretty sure PvP population has like tripled after this patch.

It doesn’t seem like it – Solo Arena queues are as long as ever for me.
I don’t think it is ‘Conquest’ which is destroying sPvP – I have never heard anyone go ‘I hate Conquest’ ever in my 4900+ Solo/Team Arena games and we know if people actually dislike something then they will complain about it constantly like Skyhammer or Decap Engi. I still think more game modes may help though.
If ArenaNet want a competitive environment then it is all about “Leaderboards/Ladders” and we don’t really have that. ArenaNet also need to start rewarding the active players better instead of the inactive.

TeamQ is no more serious than SoloQ at the moment – TeamQ is a joke. Destroying PUGs is not my idea of a competitive mode.
You need to change this ArenaNet – It is way too limited for these newer players. It is bringing them into SoloQ which is ruining the game quality for the more experienced players.

I have nearly completed 3 reward tracks so far and have basically got nothing from it. Rewards are horrible.
Only thing I seen good out of this balance patch is that Ele’s are more viable now. From what I have noticed, many people have already given up with the patch and have left again.

Doesn’t matter how far behind your team is. If it’s a 5v5 with all players participating and you’re the only one who goes AFK, then you are part of this cancer in sPvP.
I doubt you’ll care anyway, but there you go.
Other players are often AFKing as well and whenever I do it, no one really has a problem with it seeing as most people would prefer to get onto the next game faster which may not be as one-sided.
Now compare that to someone who AFKs at the start of a game because they are mad about life. That is a completely different situation and their purpose is to annoy other players.

I think you are missing the point. I don’t cause losses through AFKing do I? I just stop playing when I know it is lost because I like to get on to the next match. Many players do this all the time and it is completely understandable, most games have a ‘resign’ or ‘surrender’ feature but we don’t have that.
If I really AFK’d as much as you say, it would mean that I would lose often which I obviously don’t seeing as I am nearly always Top 5/20 on TWO accounts. You don’t get there through losses do you? No.

I am going to keep this simple because I don’t feel like going into detail right now.
- Condi Engi is out of control. The amount of damage and sustainability is unreal. Balthazar runes need to be fixed. Too much buuuuuuuuurning.
- Hambow is incredibly strong now. I have been playing it today and the damage is insane. It still feels very ‘bunkery’ as well.
- Condi Necro aren’t overpowered but still dominate. Nightmare runes are a joke.
- Average Thieves are pretty horrible at the moment. Thieves really need more condition removal.
- Ele seems pretty balanced at the moment. I can definitely see their use in the current meta.
I don’t really have an opinion on Rangers, Mesmers & Guardians.
Overall – I think the balance patch was a failure BUT I do think things are more interesting at the moment but how long will that last?

SoloQ is an absolute mess at the moment. That’s all I have to say.
Not sure what is happening but sPvP is seriously screwed up today.
- I won a SoloQ and didn’t get the win, the other team did.
- I had a 5v1.
- I had a 3v2.
- I had a match that didn’t start – It was just us waiting for about 5 minutes until we got kicked out.
Yeah I thought I noticed it as well.
Progression must be enabled for the custom arenas, but solo arena and team arena should always reward progress. Team arena rewards the most progress, followed by solo arena, and then by custom arenas. You receive more progress for a win than a loss.
I just read this in another thread. I think Custom Arenas (Hotjoin) has a limit but TeamQ and SoloQ do not.

I am hoping my new S/D ‘Might’ build works well.
I don’t support Skyhammer and I definitely want it removed but I just want people to start focusing more instead of being in a world of their own thinking that spamming skills will get them through every game.
My guess is that they’ve stopped working on it because they’re working on ladders/seasons. Which would be a logical explanation but I’d rather see those soon then.
I would be okay with the current leaderboards being broken if the new ladders were coming next month but I have a feeling that this is something we won’t see til like October.

That is the wrong way to look at it though empa.
Thing is, solo q ladder should be made to mean a lot. It should be an end game for a ton of people.
The reason we need competitive solo queue is because for most people team queue is unattainable. The commitment and problems involved in playing in a 5 man team are too significant. You need a certain comp to succeed (really need bunker guard for example, thief also v important). You need to not fall out with people. You need people who play at the same time of day. You need people to not going on holiday/work for a month and not be able to play much. There is just too much that can go wrong. Playing solo is a way for these people to have fun and competition in the game. Even to gain recognition if that is their aim.
Anet need to sort things out. Add a proper solo q ladder with regular resets and a grindy system which rewards volume of games played as well as quality. Add regular daily tournaments for teams with rewards like gems. Add bigger monthly tournaments. Allow shoutcasters to stream these tournaments.
It is so simple. This blueprint is tried and tested over many games over the last 10+ years. Why are anet not moving in this direction? The solo queue system should reward active players by meaning you lose less for losing than you do for winning an equivalent game.

I’m not saying I disagree with you, but I’m going to point out that you really shouldn’t appeal to the masses to back up your claims. Sorry but, why work on something broken when something new is nearly coming? It will take more time than it’s actually worth. Of course you don’t have high hopes, you’re frustrated about something no one cares about. Which is making you short sighted.
I can’t take you seriously when you say things like ‘No one cares about’ like you have asked everybody. I care about it and so do many others but after a while, people begin to give up complaining. It’s very similar to what is happening with the ‘Remove Skyhammer’ threads.
I agree with Quincy. The actual leaderboard is too much flawed, because too volatile. The simple fact of having people with less than 10 games played( plus maybe the 4v5 battles resulting in -40 ranks) are ruining it..
Is there any point when you’re placed #500 with 400 wins and 300 loses( just an example) while someone with 4 wins and 7 loses is placed #25..
That’s the point of this thread. Leaderboards aren’t even that far off but it’s the random 4-7 placed at #25 which is ruining the entire thing along with the terrible temporary decay system.

Only people really doing SoloQ at the moment are PvE players doing their dailies etc.
I would wait till April 15th if you don’t want to go ‘wtf why is this guy in this game?’
