sure they can make more money with the last one, but they should also think about customers that they’ll lose if they continue this for too long.
At some point players will have no more interest in this RNG or even stop playing the game completely

Not so long ago, you could earn EVERYTHING in games by just playing them.
Today it seems we only have RNG and Micro-Transactions
I know the concepts:
RNG: You need some luck, but it’s possible
Micro-Transactions: Only to get through a bit faster
But thats not how it is today:
Micro-Transactions (or better Pay2Win) are ridiculous. There are Apps which allow you paying up to a few hundred dollars. Some even start at 5$
Luckily, this isn’t the case in GW2
RNG, are we lucky that we’re not on the Micro-Transaction-side or not?
Sure, it’s purely cosmetic and I’m fine with that. (But not with the misleading advertisement, even though most players should know by now.)
What I’m afraid of is Anet (or better said NCSoft) for becoming more and more greedy because they see how easy they can make much money with RNG and such things.
I really hope they don’t get on the Micro-Transaction/Pay2Win train, squeezing the last out of the players before they finally leave.
I’ve seen many great games doing this, only to get more money, regardless of how much players they loose, because… Who cares about them?
If the game’s dead, they’ll make the next one, with even more RNG and Pay2Win and even harder leveling etc
I’m fine with the whole RNG-Story as long as it stay’s only for the cosmetic things.
But I’m still not fine with the advertising. They didn’t even said “a chance for” this time. (Should’ve been “a small chance” to be more honest and still make some money without feeling like someone who steals a lolli from a 3year old)
I understand the nerf for the pvp-side, but on the pve-side…

This is only my opinion on the traits and I’m trying my best not to list too much traits because of their weakness and only the ones that are really useless or broken.

If it starts after you healed someone… it still is pretty useless since they can better dodge if needed

“Create a healing spring on death.”
Only useful if you die. You don’t want to die, do you? - Vigorous Spirits
“Spirits have twice as much health”
Now they can take one hit more - Spiritual Knowledge
Because 15% more chance will make you prefer spirits over banners, yeah, totally - Spirits Unbound
“Spirits can move and follow you”
Seriously, we do have too much of such grandmaster traits. - Evasive Purity

Useful for yourself, useless for you pet since quickness will most likely already have ended when the pet reaches the enemy.
A little bit useful for spiders and in close combat, but even then the first attack from your pet is very long so it won’t do that much for you - Master’s Bond
“Your pet has a bond with you that increases its attributes each time you kill a foe. When it is defeated or deactivated, the bond is reset”
Because Pets don’t need to be switched to survice </sarcasm> - Stability Training

Not really useful for lick wounds.
Could be used to kill an enemy to rally, but sadly most rangers don’t know that you can still control your pet when you’re downed.
Also, this will most likely not be enough to rally since the pet has to reach the enemy and most pet attacks are even then too slow
And again, not sure if this is really worth a grandmaster trait

It makes me especially sad that Warrior banners, which are innately better than spirits (unkillable, better buffs, mobile), are getting buffed.
I did a facepalm at that bit. Banners are pretty kitten good compared to Spirits.

Sure, many players would like that, if it makes your class less buggy and more usefull, but there are also many many players which are happy with their ranger (and Lv2 ranger are as important as LV80, because every player is important for a game)

has anyone mentioned ranger pets using some percentage of bas player stats to be added to their stats to keep them inline damage wise since ascended gear is being added and as player dmg and health is going up pets remain unaffected, also this would in pets being more in the rangers control by using stats rangers use, such as giving condition dmg to lynx since it is a very heavily condition pet with all the bleeds (if traited every single attack it can do can cause a bleed) it can do and the pet condition dmg trait isnt really worth it, its 5-8 more dmg a tick… not a whole lot from a greater trait, lol incomparison necros got a trait to give fear dmg, and that starts at around 500 a tick. pets getting some of the stats rangers spec in just seems more rewarding to the ranger to have the pets you want to since u can build them into your playstyle more than what they are now like the lynx for condition builds

Sure, it’s more work to do, but the more input (=suggestions from here) the better are the chances on a really good solution for us all

1. When the wind blows, why do you need to walk in? Just wait till it doesn’t blow anymore
2. It’s called strategy/teamplay. Get one of those plants and swim as a team. the flesh-eating fishes won’t attack you if you have the light of the plant
3. All fractals have unique mechanics. You only need to know what they are and adapt to the situation.
It’s not meant to be a “Enemy – Kill – Run – Enemy – Kill – Run – Boss – Kill – Chest” Game.
There is way more than just going from one enemy to another. Fractals (and most other dungeons) are based on different mechanics you need to understand. And if you do it is lots of fun.
For me it’s even fun to figure it out by myself.

I have a Ranger and I like him a lot, but there are many many bugs.
I know devs are working at it, but could you mind asking one of them (possibly one who has to do with ranger bug fixes) to make a post where he states what bugs they’re currently aware of and what bugs will get attention?
We have a big list of bugs here, but almost no dev posts in there and we don’t know what the devs really see as a bug and we don’t know what is currently in the work.
Before your post here, a pretty long time (months afaik) no dev posted here and we (or at least I) feel a bit like getting ignored (meaning most bugs from the start of the game are still here), this is no offense, i’d just be (and many others probably too) very happy to see a post and see what devs know from the bugs and what they’re working on.
Personally I think most urgent bugs have to do with our pet:
Things like Search and Rescue not working, Pet being very slow when called back, Pet not evading, no AR for my Pet, F2 Skills take up to 5 Second, Lick Wounds doesn’t always work etc
One bug that could’ve been easily fixed long time ago was the AR for pets. Pets are a class mechanic. And they’re not meant to die (like mesmers illusions). Just share the AR with the player and that would be fine. (even though they’ll still be dead most of the time in boss battles, but at least not from agony)

It’s really sad that my pet doesn’t evade anything in combat.
If i recall it, it takes a LOT of time, mostly too much to get out of an Attack or even an AoE
It doesn’t evade with the player, which is extemely bad, especially in the ice fractal or similar ones.
The only reason I still use felines is that bears do less damage and die almost as fast as felines due not evading or coming back faster.
You all know how long the Ranger bug list is and there didn’t change much in the last 3-4 Months, at least not the urgent ones.

Make a top 5 list of the most needed fixes and hope the devs decide to work fix it in the order the community provides.
Even if we don’t get a 100% clear bug list next month, at least we should get the top urgent bug fixed, or maybe even the 2 most needed ones!

But again, your probably not taking into consideration PUG groups, most players don’t have the luxury of static fotm farming groups, with highly co-ordinated throughly geared-out, maxed AR and voice over IP programs like vent etc..
Besides, that boss attacks are not really the issue, its the 20 – 30 elementals every 25% which are.
I’ll try to make it more clear, maybe my english isn’t good enough or the word can is not placed right in my sentence.
I wanted to say, that I’m able to evade his attacks, not that i never get hit by any attack.
It’s funny how you said that his attack was op because it was undodgeable, and suddenly it is not the main problem, instead the adds are.
(and yes, they are the biggest problem in pugs)
Btw: for static groups i opened a thread (at least in the german board) to help players find a static group and thanks to the thread i and some others found one (and others hopefully will too)
I don’t think that it’s necessary to reach high level fotm with pugs. if pugs could do, where would be the challenge? they shouldn’t make it to easy.

yes, i’m pretty dead set, i really like the axe/torch.
single enemy: throw torch, then axe (4, 3), maybe lay a burning field, change to sword, qz and sick’em and down he is
more enemies: pure axe
and yeah, you’re right, i should really consider changing to more condition damage.
i wanted to use the axe to deal a good amount of damage if there are more enemies, but i didn’t thought of cond dmg.
I think i’ll change to a full carion and, runes of the undead for even more cond dmg and toughness.
Saphire Jewellery for more power and some toughness + vitality
For the utilities i’d really like to hold on to sick’em and QZ since they are a really big boost.
The last one should be adapted to the situation.
For the Elite there is not very much besides Rampage as One
For the traits i’d like to have something that helps me to take more advantage of my pets, sadly felines do the most crits and they could get so many good things from it, but in fractals they’re often dead anyways
i think the new amor/jewellery combination should be pretty good, right?
what about the pets? maybe wolf’s since they deal a good amount of damage and crits but have better survivability then felines?
But they don’t really do apply much conditions.
Better questions might is, how are my pets affected by my cond damage?

i think i’ll settle with a 0/20/20/0/30 Trait spec and stay with felines.
0 → I don’t want to use signets and opening strike just isn’t worth it atm
20 → Pets do 30% more damage on crits and gain health for them + swiftness&fury on weapon swap.
20 → Pets deal extra condition damage, survival skills recharge faster + the usual
0 → almost only things for spirits, isn’t worth the points
30 → 2 seconds of quickness when you swap pets, 20% faster shouts (sick’em), 20% faster recharge times, Bleed on crit (felines do crit a lot), more power + pet regeneration
so my felines will:
- do more crit damage
- gain health on crits
- gain passively health in combat
- gain protection on dodge
- quickness on swap
- more often quickness from QZ
- apply bleed on crit
and i’ll get
- swiftness + fury on weapon swap which will be good because i’m swapping all the time
- more quickness uptime from QZ, more evade from LR
- more endurance = more dogdes + protection
- quickness on pet swap, faster shouts = more damage,
- faster recharge time = pet’s stay better alive
- more power

The weapons will stay like they’re, because it’s the playstyle i like the most. (Also my Frostfang is almost finsihed – kitten skillpoints)
I want my ranger to be as good as possible with this set in PvE and Dungeons. I don’t do sPvP and WvW often so i don’t mind about being ineffective there.
Currently my Setup is:

Full Valkyrie …… of the Knight Set (Valkyrie = 325 Power, 224 Vitality, 16% crit dmg; Knight = 120 Precision, 84 Toughness, 84 Power)
Jewellery
Rings: The 2 Toughness&Vitality +50 ones from Fractals
Earrings: Emerald … of the Knight (Emerald = 112 Toughness, 80 Power, 80 Precision; Knight = 50 Precision, 30 Toughness, 30 Power)
Amulet: Emerald … of the Knight (Emerald = 90 Toughness, 64 Power, 64 Precision; Knight = 25 Precision, 15 Toughness, 15 Power)
Backpiece: Soldier’s of the Knight (soldier = 20 Power, 14 Toughness, 14 Vitality; Knight = 25 Precision, 15 Toughness, 15 Power)
Weapons
Axe = Tooth of Frostfang soon to be Frostfang
Torch = Rodgorts Flame
Sword and Dagger = Some rare i got while leveling
What i want
- I want to have a good mix between ‘can take hits’ and deal decent damage
- I don’t want to relay on crits or condition damage. Since i only use things i crafted on my own, i
choosed to have a bit precision/crit dmg (Soldier’s Armor can’t be crafted, sadly..)
- I want to take full advantage of my pets (-> deal a good amount of damage and can stay alive
long enough to get switched so i don’t have downtimes)
If you have an advice to change something, please only craftable things, i got more than enough mats. (Only exception: if there’s some item that would make a extreme difference)
My questions
- What do you think about my gear? is there anything that needs to be changed or would help me to be more effective (obvisiously the sword/dagger, but what else)?
- Sword/Dagger, what would you recommend, what sigils?
- Should I/can I change sigils when i got my Frostfang?
- What traits should I consider?
- What pets? I used felines because they did great crit damage, but they die often when it comes to fractals
- Utilities, i guess Sick’Em and QZ are standard, what else?
- Any cool tricks for my weapons? Or any generell things i should know? (e.g. how to better avoid damage in melee)

The players paid for the game and the right to create and play characters in it which also includes giving their characters unique names.
Ans since they paid for the game the names should stay theirs.
In real life, if you wouldn’t use your bike for a few days, why should someone else get the right to take it? Even if you don’t use a thing, as long as you’ve paid for it you have the right to not use it and forbid others to use it.
(in this case it’s also against the law for others to just take it because it’s assumed that you don’t want others to just take it)
i have had amd and nvidia cards and i do own a 660 ti atm.
it works fine for me.
personally i choosed it, because i saw a benchmark where GW2 was also part of (and there was a good price for it + a nvidia tshirt and AC3 for 250€/330$

it’s probably because of the drivers.
my older amd could handle it better then my new nvidia, nothing else changed.
i think i’ll try the driver change (to an older version) in a few days if there is no update that helps
i don’t know if i get random fps drops, or at least they’re not really that noticable.

My old Graphics card had 1GB of Memory, my new 2.
The CPU is the same, the drive is still an ssd.
The new Graphics card is faster in every way than the old card.
So, how can this be?
The explanation that it’s because of resource loading isn’t an explanation if there’s no explanation to why the new graphics card should be slower (and that only in GW2)

As the title says, sometimes if i turn the camera relatively fast the fps goes down to like 10-16 or so.
Also it’s most noticeable after starting the game and sometimes a zone change, after a bit of time it’s all smooth again.
I’m playing with a GTX 660 TI and i’m mostly at about 70-80 FPS on max settings.
I had no problems on my HD6870 before (which is definitively not as good as the 660 TI, lol)
Since the rest of my system hasn’t changed and it worked good on my old system i think the only issue could be the graphics card.
Any ideas?

Today i was doing WvW again, because i only need more Badges and some Skillpoints to finally craft my Legendary.
At the beginning i thought, i’ll only do WvW and Dailys to get my Karma and Badges.
I was right with the Karma, and now, i got even about 300k Karma left but i haven’t got my 500 Badges.
After 3 Hours today, i got 5 (!!!) more Badges, i got kill credit for at least 73 people (could be more if i overlooked some numbers) and from those, i finished 27 (QZ on Pet swap is great for that, lol)
I know i wouldn’t get them thrown at me, but really? only 5 Badges?
I didn’t count how many i got from real players, but i’m sure at least 2 are from Lords.
If we can’t get a higher drop rate on them, why not at least guranteed badges for finishing enemys?
I can understand if someone would say “You did just a little scratch on that enemy, you don’t deserve a badge of honor”
But at least for finishing we should get one (maybe even 2 with a chance of 33% or so)
I know that there are a lot of people who don’t really care about them and who just do WvW for fun. Sometimes it is fun for me too, but still i wish i’d get some more for all the time i’m there.
And just to clarify, no, i’m not complaining because i don’t have my Legendary yet, i never wanted it as fast as possible but i feel like i’m not really rewarded for spending that long time and killing that much enemys

about the shadows, then, why does the fps stay the same, even on lowest settings?
As the title says.
My current system is a Core i5 @3 GHz, 8 GB 1600 Mhz Ram, a 128GB SSD and my Gigabyte Geforce GTX 660 TI.
I run the game at highest settings even with supersampling i almost everywhere get between 70 and 80 FPS (except right after the start there are sometimes drops for 7/8 FPS, after that everything is ok)
In WvW when i run around (alone) i only get about 40 FPS, still not bad.
But when i’m running with a Zerg, it goes down to 16/17 FPS and stays there when in combat. Out of Combat it’s about 25 FPS
Two things i noticed:
- It doesn’t matter which settings i choose, even on lowest settings (same resolution, but subsample) it stays at 16/17 in combat, 25 out of combat.
- In PvE mass Events are no Problem (the Balthasar i did a few minutes ago was all above 40 FPS)
Is this normal in WvW or can i do anything to get my FPS higher there?
