So they changed Stab so it was no longer a “binary” totally-immune or totally-not-immune.

But what they’ve introduced instead is a new binary which hard-codes into the game the number of enemies you can fight as melee.

You have 5 stacks of stab.

Lets say 1 in 4 enemies drop CC on a push (push every 10 seconds, CC cooldown average 40s, so fair assumption).

4 Enemies -> You pass through all CC -> might as well have been no change.
8 Enemies -> You pass through all CC -> might as well have been no change.
12 Enemies -> You pass through all CC -> might as well have been no change.
16 Enemies -> You pass through all CC -> might as well have been no change.
20 Enemies -> You pass through all CC -> might as well have been no change.
24 Enemies -> Even with stab, you still get CC’d -> might as well not use stab at all.
28 Enemies -> Even with stab, you still get CC’d -> might as well not use stab at all.
32 Enemies -> Even with stab, you still get CC’d -> might as well not use stab at all.
36……. etc.

You can nit-pick on my exact numbers if you want, but the conclusion is the same:

There is now hard-coded into the game a number above which stability is worthless, and below which stability is the same as it was before.

This simply encourages blobbing up.

There is a reason why the stability changes have hardly affected sPvP or GvG or roaming, but have had a huge impact on large-scale WvW. There is also a reason why “zerg-busting” has basically disappeared from WvW. The reason is what I have posted above.

This is a good point however it goes the same way for stability. If 1 in 4 players brings stability then…

One problem with this is many more people seem to play the ranged/back-line (bringing cc) then play the front-line (bring stab). Making CC come out one ‘top’ of the tug of war.

I will agree however that this ‘encourages’ blobbing, and makes the number difference much more important when it comes to zergbusting. I don’t however think it should go back to the old way.

That that core problem.
The amount of Stab per player !! doesn´t increase but the amount of cc increase with every enemy guard and ele cause their cc isn´t capped on 5 man limit like every other skill in this game so in numbers bigger 30 on one side it´s totally broken :-(

Stab changes never had any impact on pvp and smal scale fights under 20vs20 cause there is not enough cc to kill all stacks.
but it totally broke the game in fights where one ide is 40 + cause you have twice the cc but not any more stab.

Shouldn’t a group of players have to think twice before charging directly into another large group? Why should you be able to do that freely, again?

the main cc source in wvw are static/earth 4 from ele and staff 5 from guard + necro staff 5 and fearwall

all these skills have short cast time and 1,2k range.

Only way to avoid getting thee skills castet direktly 0,5 meter ahead your way or inside you is stealth.
in 40v40+ even than than is often enough cc to spam random all area.
And with the new kitten map there will be even more choke fights than right know where a monkey can play ranged and it´s impossible to push until 1 side fall asleep from fakepushing.
boring as hell for most people.

in fights bigger than 20vs20 stab is way to weak and yes many many people like thee 40v40 pugfights or 20vs40 zerbusting with a guild playing better than the other blob

zergbusting wa a big part of the fun in wvw and if one side play a lot better than the other it should be posible to beat them heavy outnumberd.

before it was possible after stab change bigger zerg nearly always win.

this meta + the cancer new pve/ppt/no space to fight map will maybe let me ragequit gw. only reason i´m still playing and many people i ask from my guild/ex guilds is the combat system and the mising alternatives on the mmo market atm

The next patch will contain adjustments to arrow cart line of sight calculations to address this problem. Due to feedback the new calculation will give advantage to defenders by being forgiving when the arrow cart is being fired from higher ground to lower ground.

Would be pointless stand your ground e.g. Gives 5 stacks for 5seconds + boon duration maybe. So just reroll to old stab system and hope the Servers rum a bit smoother in 3 was fights without all the stabi calculation with stacks getting removed / increased than the new immune buff Must Pop up etc. very much extra server load for nearly the Same as just reroll to old stab

They released the WvW beta for a reason

like they will change the whole map lol..

they failed the map seems more suitable for pve not for WvW, servers that enjoy doing PPT might enjoy this but there are tons of players who dont enjoy this at all including me, i dont care for towers/camps/keeps, yes i deffend them but if lost i couldnt give a rats kitten if it was T1 or T3 i just wanna kill people..

now the map is huge and people move in a blob if u kill enemy on otherside of map u wont see them again for a while..
map just need to be like old maps “flat” no weird structures and easy to get from A to B

This is a complex problem. The intention was to make it harder to fire from the ground onto and over walls while still being able to fire from walls downward, but trying to get such behavior is not simple. I do agree that the cases displayed in the screenshots are not great though.

This is actually a pretty simple problem, conceptually. I can’t speak for actual implementation difficulty, but consider the following assertions:

1. An arrow cart on top of a wall (defensive AC) must be able to hit anything visible and below the arrow cart.
2. An arrow cart below a wall (offensive AC) must not be able to shoot past the nearest top edge of the nearest wall.

Cause defending right know isn´t easy enough + the kitten no playerdmg to gates buff with hot?
Atm if you attack a defended structure in eu t1-3 you have trebs behind every door killing rams in seconds and drain all your uplly without any real counterplay so last way is trashdmg (not possible anymore in hot with the guild buff) while the defenders build ton´s of ac´s on position you cannot reach with aoe dmg. you cannot build any one siege in ac range of the walls cause defender ac´s insta kill it. so you must go on range and cata/treb it.

If you start cata/treb the most poitions are covered by deffender trebs + if not they just yolopush/die on your siege and destroy long before a wall is nearly open. things like siege disabler from mesmer/thief in stealth on your cata/treb had no real counterplay.

if you open a gate/wall after a while all you see are red circles of 4-12 ac´s shooting all on this choke/all defender cater freecating from high ground and you often have to use all defend cd´s dodges to get in there + than you have the enemy blob in there same your number on highground + siege dmg + all cd´s.

it´s way to easy to defend a garry without fighting the enemy at all. And that´s no fun at all for many many ppl.

The Defenders had enough advantages with the time to come to defend while the enemy must open the structure and than for the fight some highground /choke/a bit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! siege dmg advantages but not so op like now.
if the attacker win the fight againt defender even with this disadvantages it´ok that he flip the structure.

Bunkering and avoid fighting in wvw is way to easy and to rewarding and no fun for many many ppl.

With the new map with so many broken defending siege spots and long ways for attacking ppl + the op guildclaimbuffs flipping a structure when the defenders are at least 50 % of the attackers will become impossible. So all ppl bunkering in their objects until one side losing numbers in offhours and flipping object with equal number will be impossible. All ppl looking for some fights get bored and play pvp /guildhall gvg instead and wvw totally become a kitten boring ppt/siegewars where fight ability´s doesn´t count anything.

So it seems to me the entire complaint is that some cannot succeed after they took the ability away to completely ignore 1/4 of the skills of your enemies in the game.

Stability was OP. Those who cannot function without it, as 6 out of 8 professions have since release, are a shining example of how they did not develop the skill to play without it.

Stabi had to be op cause cc in this Game is op too.
simple math
Frontline Party with 2 guards have 5 +3 stacks per Push(the 3 every 2. push)
so the whole frontline Party can ignore 7 cc effect per Push. Doesnt matter how many Fl Party´s exist cause Stabi shouts are 5 man limited like nearly every skill in this game.

1. 15vs 15 ppl gvg/opelfield fight
the enemy had maybe 6 guardian staff 5 walls so 3 per push cause of cd
3-4 ele with static + earth 4 so maybe 2 each of them per push
+maybe necro playing fear wall
+
+random 5 man target limit cc like hammer war/guard ring or pull necro staff 5…

the target unlimited cc alone kill all/nearly all stacks even if some cc miss.
and all these cc had 1200 range so its pretty easy too hit.
So if the enmy bl land all ranged cc the 5 stacks from stabi shout are gone with much luck maybe 2 left cause many enemy sleeping with ther cc. these 2 + 3 from f3 you need for the random target limited cc
In short you need all your stacks if the enemy hit´s all there range cc in your fl (doesn´t very hard to hit) you are running out of stacks after maybe 2/3 of the enemy cc and you get rekt in necro bomb and die in seconds gg.

so far maybe balanced in 15v15 and lower
but in 30vs30 or t1 60vs60 fights you are f+cked caue you had the same amount of stack per party but the enemy had 2x or 4x the cc he needs to kill all your stacks.

the cc not get hit by the 5 man target limit so in bigger fights range is op as hell atm.
just spam cc like a monkey on the push and nobody can move anymore. gg there is the pirate shi(p)t

In my eye´best way too get rid of this boring meta is reroll to old stabi or massive nerf to cc cd of most skills + 5 mann target limit on cc so if a static/wall/ring kill 5 stacks of stability it dissapears. Most cc in this game is ranged and extremly easy to land.

Since day 1 of the patch i hate the change and the very sad thing it´s only inflicts wvw. in pvp you never kill all 5/10 stacks mot stabi skills give you o it´s in fact the same effect as before but its kill the wvw the only mode of this game i really play.

I honestly think 2500 is a bit low though. I have just under 7000 yak kills and I know many people have way more than me as well. To put it in line with Ultimate Dominator, I think it should be at around 10k

+1 why always black or white ?
to be in line with the 250k kills 2,5k dollys are way to low. 10k +/- 2k would fit better .

hope we not see that all hardcore wvw player habe all titles beside the realm avenger:(

yes we want a nerf to put the achievements in line with the 250k kills but not easy achievements for every casual

cpu single core performace < all in wvw/massive zergs
even a 60 euro/dollar gpu on max settings is cpu limited in these situations

most settings are gpu heavy just max them out, but some like char limits extremly increase cpu usage in wvw/masive zergs

gw2 only need 3-4 cores as fast as possible

best cpu´s for gw are oc´ed i5 . ht from the i7 doesn´t scale with gw and the 6-8 core have to low single core speed.

i run a 2500k on 4,8ghz and even with char limit medium i´m 100% cpu limit in massive wvw fights with a gtx 970 in 1440p with max out most of the other settings

even with all gpu only related settings maxed out in 1440 p my gpu usage drop below 50% in really heave 3 way wvw fight with 20fps in 100% cpu limit

World Population Changes Are Coming

New map, new players. I don’t know how solid the algorithm is but I may see some new servers coming, since this seems like a massive amount of new players coming?

plz not !! we already have to much Servers.

For me a perfect Server Population means that in Primetime there is a short qeue on eb (5-15min /on weekends 30-45min are still ok) and all bl are full/nearly full.
outside primetime eb should always be a 20-40 zerg in the normal time 8am-1am and some spontaneously bl raids.

At the time of the first wvw Tornament middle silver had this population in eu (i play on AM at this time)

nowadays t1/2 in eu (play the last 6 month on deso/ now on fsp since 3 weeks) the population isn´t higher than middle silver during first wvw season. Only problem is that the players concentrate on eb cause often there is only 1 commander even in primetime online. outside primetime no qeues but always at least 1 zerg with 20-40 ppl you can play wvw in bigger numbers than 10vs 10.

if i want smallscale action i play pvp and not wvw.

for my understanding of what real wvw means maybe top 1-3 server in eu are full /the servers maybe place 7/8 are fine than the next 5/6 server are low and the rest is dead and should get closed to spread out on the 14-18 Server that are on a good populatien then.

you cannot ignore how many ppl left active wvw and try to spread all player on a way to much servers.

the state of an actual “very high” server is dead !!! still have an alt account on AM and beside primetime there is 10-14 hours of the day no real public lead above 20 players . Maybe a short eb qeue in prime and 2 bl half full .
That is no mass pvp mode playable on these Server at least over the half of the day.

And if hot bring so many new ppl than raise the mapcaps a bit and let the qeues be higher for 1-2 month and then the hype is gone.

after killing my most played gamemode wvw with the stabi change plz do not the same with pvp and give stronghold a seperate qeue at least for ranked. So no player who really want to play PLAYER VS PLAYER is forced to play this kitten boring pve kitten .

and for next pvp patch no new gamemode. Only 2-3 new conquest maps + 3-4 other tdm maps with seperate qeue.

I’m not about to wait for the exp pack to get released,i made this thread out of pure annoyance,and frustration,boredom to see the last gamemode i still enjoyed playing get turned into a kittenfest and im losing interest to get on by the day…So no,im not overreacting,ive been playing wvw since day one of release,ive seen it all..And this meta is absolutely killing it for me and i feel less and less inclined to logg in.

same here only still active in gw2 because i can not find any alternatives atm.

I honestly don’t see much difference. In any event, how is it worse than what it was before? Oh, right, you were immune to all of my cc before while now it can possibly affect you with your bazilion years and sources of stab… From my perspective they made some skills that were not relevant, relevant again. CC are supposed to, you know, crowd control some… Beside, if I can charge into the fray with a zerker staff ele a big bad war probably can manage. Just saying…

Ever play other mmo than gw?
There you often only have a single cc per profession on high cd. it´s more like the elite in gw.
Stab was op but it must be, cause cc is op in gw too.(large scale combat)
Only skill in game without target limit?
On most professions more than 1 cc skill often with low cd.
cc in gw is in big fights everywhere and spammable while rolling over your keyboard.

so the counter of the cc must fit to the cc in game.

Old cc but please only with old stab
or new stab but then target limit on all cc(like most other skills in gw) +cd increase

the ship is boring as hell.

It was still bad even before the stab change. The stab change means even lesser skilled guilds and people are pulling it off though. While it’d be nice for Anet to consider WvW in balancing we know they don’t, so honestly it’s up to the players if they want fun fights with eachother, or do they just care about being as cancerous as possible to win. GvG slowly dying because you can guess what option a lot of guilds chose.

the ship was there before(Ta/lag gvg e.g. ) but after patch it´s everywhere.
All frontliner reroll necro/ele looking for cancershare thief in mapchat and spam cc/dmg on targets/commanders.

that´s no fun for me + most people i talk with, but my fault my friends and i where pll who often only play gw2 because of wvw/gvg/fights . So players anet never care about.

Stab Change Reason

The ones saying it was OP are the ones that were bad. These are the people that usually blobbed it up and even though they had more stability available to them due to sheer numbers, they didn’t coordinate it. When you had two organized guilds fighting each other, the better guild usually won, not because of stability it was usually because one of them made a vital mistake along the way.

People were mad because tbh they didn’t know how to play, Ele would blow static and everything they had on inc and of course the stability would roll over that, maybe they should have timed their CC a little better instead of blowing their load on inc. CC still had its place, the primary reason Warrior had hammer was the CC, not all the reason the other poster listed. A well timed static or line could change the tide of a fight, but people wanted to be able to stand still and nuke away without having to think on their feet or kite damage. It amazes me that the top guilds had Ele’s and Necro’s whom did just fine before the patch, again it was a L2P issue.

The new meta is boring as hell, its also promoting laziness, those ranged players will QQ even more when a heavy manages to break through to them because how is it possible and why can’t they stand there unmolested and nuke to their hearts content ?

If people would have used their brains they wouldn’t have stood there like a deer in headlights while a hammer train runs them over. When I played Ele for my guild, I had to move, I had to use proper placement, I had to read the fight and think what the next move was so I didn’t get ran over.

Its a terrible change, but whats done is done, good players are adapting (even if the new meta is mind numbingly boring) and bad ones will find something new to QQ about while getting progressively worse at their ranged classes.

The most powerful CC’s in the game weren’t and still aren’t negated by stability, and yet it seems very few were smart enough to realize this, they were to concerned about their poorly timed static fields.

Yeah stab was extrem strong and when both guards in party timing the stab well you always had stabi while engaging the enemy. Is this op? in a game where cc is a high cd skill like maybe elite in gw yes, but in gw nearly everbody can simply spam cc every 10-30sec WITHOUT TARGET LIMIT in a game where all other skills have a 5 target limit. You just need such a strong stabi too counter the (in big-scale) broken cc mechanic. either you reroll old Stab in wvw(for me best way) or after nerv stab plz nerf cc to same lvl in wvw which means get target limit on all cc skills.

Atm wvw frontline is pain in the kitten . i play nearly all of my 4k played in wvw 3k+ as a frontliner in guildraids and we have so much fun and no decent wvw player ever complains about op stab.

The extrem boring pirate ship meta isn´t any fun for me and the most player i talk with

Jeah rnd finishers are nice but maybe you can add a funtion to allow you deaktivate some finshers from the rnd list like the lower pvp finishers and the standart finisher. This would be perfect.
