ok, this has gotten silly lol. All this darkhaven hate… yesterday in DR BL i was at the keep and a group of about 35 people (quite a few [NoQQ] in the pack) were making a push on our forces which were roughly …12-15 people , who by looking at guild tags were mostly Pugs ect.

So you folks would make a push, the second you met any resistance…you would fall WAY back..and hope for a few idiots to overextend. rinse and repeat.

now i understand this as strategy..but it sure seems people are flinging insults taking one portion of a battle and picking it apart, calling it cowardice.

people need to stop running to the boards every time the get a lil sand in their Hoo-Hoo and realize that there is ebb and flow to each encounter and to take a slice out to over analyze is doing everyone a disservice.

As a side note , and credit where credit is due. I got to dive into the Noqq forces a few times and i have to say. your use of fields and finishers is awesome. I had to stretch and focus to get back into the game lol. got a few of ya…but man..hats off to you!

We were in DH BL, not DR BL and the GRIM that were there were part of the “idiots” who overextended and got killed. Repeatedly.

Yeah, man. It’s a valid point. We know it sucks for a 5-man when we run over them with 15. However, I will maintain that there is a big difference between someone who only runs with 30+ compared to someone who runs with 10-15, 5, or solo.

I especially love the heroes who overextend and die when chasing you because they have 30 friendlies at their backs. It’s amazing how much “courage” people gain when they have a huge number advantage. I have a visceral dislike for people like that and I love it when we are able to stick it up their kitten.

im not sure what the solution for the tiers is to be honest. its a rough deal. If we could pick up 20-30% during our bankers shift i would feel comfortable moving up to T5, as i dont think we felt overwhelmed other then that shift.

until then i think the only change we might see is Isle dropping to t7 and henge or Shiv peaks coming up. and that doesnt remedy anything sadly.

We’ll get along fine just as long as you don’t have people claiming that your victories are not being enabled by coverage and population disparities. Check our history with EB. They destroyed us on the scoreboard, but we got along great with them since they didn’t have dipkittens posting that they were winning based purely on skill.

The scoreboard is largely a function of coverage. Keep in mind that DR won reset night on points this week. Things might be relatively balanced on reset night but after that if any one server has a coverage advantage they will snowball the score since while they have no competition they will rack up huge PPTs and when the enemy population returns they face an uphill battle against upgraded keeps with defensive siege already in place.

That is the reality of the WvW scoreboard. Same goes when DR was crushing servers because of our population advantage.

Oh, and this tier will change in a few weeks if Sorrow’s Furnace continues to dominate the tier below us.

PD, I’ve never personally seen in an organized guild-only squad. I’ve fought some solo and noticed some in mixed groups though. GRIM, I’ve only seen 2-5 of them together at the same time, but that was always with a larger group of DH.

It’s all about perception. When i see Ad/qq around, its usually with a zerg. Are they zerging? To the average person looking probably yes. I know that they are working separately, but not everyone (more like most) knows this.

I run solo, duo, or 5 man. So, if i run into 17 people (ADqqsty) are you not a zerg to me just as much as 50 is to your 17? It’s perception. Just as if i ran into a solo guys and my 5 man “zerged” him.

For example, SE guild has 500 people in it. Some of them do nothing but zerg. Some, do no wvw at all. Some hangout in spvp all day. Some of us, prefer small group play flanking our own zerg or skirmishing around. To the common eye there is probably no differenciating whos who.

TLDR: It’s perception, and every side “zergs” based on how you play.

We only roll with 10-15ish during primetime hours when you must have those types of numbers to deal with most enemy encounters. During off-hours you will find a lot of us soloing, duoing, or doing 5-mans ourselves.

Most of our fights are when we are outnumbered, but we purposefully put ourselves in positions away from our main forces. When you see us near a main DR force, it is usually because we have actually been called in to help. Sometimes we try to help our server. after all.

But, most of the time we are roaming looking for good fights. Sometimes we will take a tower or a keep to draw people out. That usually ends with us getting overwhelmed by three times or more of our number at which point we die or leave.

You really should have shown all of the loot bags from the tunnel fight Oozo! That fight certainly seemed like it lasted longer than it did because any second they could have pushed out and that would have been a mess to contain. Thanks to all the IoJ who were there putting up a fight!

I think they had a hard time deciding what to do. They took down the tower wall with catapults from inside the tunnel but seemed to be indecisive about what to do at that point. Only their commander could shed light on the situation. Sometimes it’s better just to delay taking an objective and kill.

Hello, I stopped reading right there. The self-admitted casual guild in question had people trash talking on the forum in our first week matchup along with a ridiculous claim that they beat [ECHO] twice in equal numbers fights.

I don’t go around shaming guilds like [WFD] unless they come on the forums making claims that they can’t back up. If they can back up those claims, then more power to them and I’ll give them full credit and respect on the forums. If they can’t back up those claims then they should instruct their members to not trash talk on the forums or someone like me will put them in a video.

You miscounted. There are 22 dots.

And their AoE max targets of 5 counts little against your 2 (visible)-6 on the walls with 50 targets max siege. I’d say that that close to the tower, you had the upper hand.

They are out of range of siege from the tower there. That is the whole reason why people build catapults there. Which is what they were doing.

One scenario is that the mass of DR came in after ADQQSTY had already pushed you back into your spawn area. That is why screenshots mean nothing.

Who from our group said we never get beat unless by numbers? Listen to what I say in the movie. I said that most of the time when we lose it is because we get overwhelmed by numbers and that is the truth. But, do you know what that word most implies? Yes, it implies that some times we get beat by even numbers. And good job to those that have beaten us with relatively even numbers.

What zerglings don’t understand about PvPers is that we look for challenging fights. We want fights that keep us on the edge of our seat wondering if we are going to win or lose. We don’t want fights that we win simply because of numbers. Zerglings don’t understand this. All they see is winning or losing and it doesn’t matter how they win or how they lose. It doesn’t matter if the loss comes after an epic fight against the odds and it doesn’t matter if the win is a totally hollow victory. That is all they see.

We dislike zerglings, but we understand them. We know how they think. Why do I do what I do? I am trying shame people into altering their behavior. Stop worrying about dying so much and run in smaller numbers. The small group versus small group combat mechanics in this game is very good. The zerg versus zerg combat mechanics in this game is very bad.

Once again, Anet shows a lack of understanding in risk versus reward. Pretty much all of the things that are bad in this game involve too much reward for too little risk.

This is ADQQSTY’s first reset night without culling. I love the removal of culling as it allows us to see exactly what is going on and to see exactly how many we have beat or how many we have lost to, but most importantly it’s great for embarrassing zerglings.

We started the night with around 10 and ended up with around 15.

ADQQSTY is a conglomeration of small-man squads that used to play in the DR/FC/Kain T8 matchup. It includes AD, NoQQ, and BSty as well as LARP and NAME which were absorbed into AD. We are currently on DR.

We still roam small man, but at night, when the zergs start appearing we combine our powers to form Voltron.

The fights we had against Ehmry were absolutely epic and mad props to them for taking us out eventually , great start to the week.

True, it’s easy to hold a tower when ths sieger are fighting between them. In that screenshot we clearly see that both AR and Ebay are fighting.

Well, I wouldn’t say that it’s easy. Just easier. A small team can come out on top in a 3way by playing the other two servers off of each other. But, that does require awareness, communication, and positioning. So good job there.

It just shouldn’t be portrayed as a 10v50 kind of fight.

The best part about a guardian in WvW is stability. All you need to do to realize this is play a necro in WvW.

DR has fought IoJ quite often recently. We’ve pretty much run across everyone on their server. I haven’t seen UnS at all this matchup (except for one guy running solo) but we have fought them group versus group in the open field in a previous matchup. However, only once to my knowledge. They tend to stay in EB while we tend to stay in the borderlands to avoid EB’s zerginess (including our friendly DR zergs). If you are a DR player and haven’t ever seen us it’s likely because you are a zergsurfer and we intentionally avoid you.

edit: You aren’t going to run across every roaming guild in an equal number situation in a one week matchup. Sometimes it can go 3 weeks before you actually run across a known roaming group from an enemy server in an isolated fight.

Some guilds prefer or are assigned to certain borderlands or EB. If people stick to their patterns they might never run across each other. Thus, it’s generally not a smart thing to say that everyone from X server sucks because you probably have not run across everyone and even when you do they might not be running at full strength (playing alts, running low on numbers, missing key classes for synergy).

All you can do is report on what your personal experiences have been. Extrapolating from those personal experiences is not a good idea.

Contrary to what many people say though, I dont think it would discourage zerging since the removal applies to them as well.

Consider a 5v10. The side with ten players has incoming AoE damage mitigated by the AoE cap. The side with 5 takes full damage from incoming AoE.

Now lift the cap to 10 players hit by AoE. Now, the side with ten doesn’t have incoming AoE damage mitigated and takes full damage. The side with 5 takes the same damage as they were before.

The AoE cap will always favor the side with more people stacked up on top of each other since the AoE damage will be more spread out and thus mitigated.

People would still zerg, though. They would just have one of their advantages removed somewhat.
