Guys, if that’s the only slip up you’ve found in his 20+ min video things may not be as bad as you’re makin it out to be.

I’d guess he just got it confused with arcane shield which does work the way he described.

The whole ArenaNet doesn’t play guardians thing is.. well, I’m not a fan. It harkens to a worse game with a worse class and I don’t know why we have to hijack this particular part of their whining.

Complain about the valid things, criticize the bad decisions, voice dissatisfaction but this sort of nitpicking as validation of the worst doom saying on these forums is just going to bring you down unnecessarily.

Again, we’re still highly desirable in all forms of content (though with limited options on how to build for that content). We are one of the better off classes in this game.

I only watched a few minutes of it, though. :P

I’m sure he knows how the ability works, but just used the wrong wording. Still, though. It’s kind of funny.

it takes a bit of time to be able to stack enough conditions to compare. (also hope they dont get removed)

One grenade poison grenade with shrapnel grenade gives you around 5k damage a second. Thats not even including the rest of engie weapons/perplexity runes. Condi mesmers can do about the same. Condi warriors can keep 10+ bleed stacks, constant burning, constant torment, and any condis on weapon swap up constantly. And necros…well yea necros. When you can apply enough conditions where you get hit with 5k damage a second its burst, thats the ‘meta’. Theres no counter play to conditions in this GD game other than having more people that can clear that they have that can apply. Condition combat was not really considered for pvp, by that I mean actual mechanics of application and removal. Theres zero counter play to conditions because there are so little weapon abilities that remove conditions. Thus you get pigeon holed into specific specs to counter condition damage instead of being able to remove it when they apply it.

The counter play that NEEDS to be here would require a lot of rebuilding. There were key structural problems to this game that weren’t fixed in production, and now the house that is guild wars 2 is crumbling. I’m not talking about player base here, I’m talking about people realizing how broken this game is while the devs sit back and say “Well its the forums, people come here to kitten about the game, lololols”

even with 10 stacks of bleed thats only 3806 dps (this includes terror) without terror it is only 2568dps

you will need at least 18-20 of bleeds + burning/psn/terror (2840+824+278+1238= 5180)

I wish my necro can do 5k dps all the time but in reality, mine just gets over the 3k mark on a good rotation without the conditions being removed.

If one person does it, think what a group can do. It comes down to overwhelming the condi removal. Like Orion used to say “Bring 2 necros or none at all”

correct, if we have 2+ then yes.
but even in a gvg setting, we needed 3 necro’s to be able to even dent the removal.

recently we tried some GvG’s with only 2 necro’s and we got smashed by EP and tied with Hope.

Have you guys tried to using venom sharing thief? It doesn’t matter if the venoms get applied from a power class or not since the dmg is based on the necro that spreads it and it gives a ton of condition coverage.

Hey, perhaps the confusion here is some are thinking about a group built around conditions while others are thinking of a solo necro. If you have a group built around condition with venom sharing, etc… you can put out a ton of hurt with an epi.

I prefer d/d when solo roaming with the 25% movement increase while wielding daggers trait. I understand that’s only personal preference, but it’s just something to keep in mind incase you decide to try it.
Also, the best part about being a solo roaming Necro, the frequency of being attacked by thieves drops significantly :P.

I ran that way before deathly perception was put in. 30 spite and 30 soul reaping is just too good to pass up for power now, IMO. :*(

Haha, yeah. Have to sacrifice something for that movement speed. Locust or Traveler’s is a must if running around alone.

I use signet for speed when conditions and traveler’s when I’m power. Tried some solo roaming as power. Not horrible for 1v1s. Good warriors, thieves, and mesmers are difficult. The only people I could beat 1v2 were absolutely horrible.

Conditions with dire is much more forgiving, of course.

Not all zerglings are bad players, that is a narrow minded view. Many people Zerg because it’s a more casual play-style after Raiding with their Guild.
Even while you are roaming you come across people reluctant to fight solo, those with cheese builds or those who run with their groups ganking smaller parties or solo roamers.

With larger numbers comes the same Class compositions and thus you may see less diversity than smaller groups, along with Skill lag.

All zerglings are bad players. If they weren’t then they would not run with a zerg. Good players seek to challenge themselves. There is no challenge in zerging it up. None.

A lot of those small groups out there that “gank” solo players also fight zergs and guild groups two to three times their size. They aren’t out there to gank people running out to their zerg. They want challenging fights against guild groups at least their own size.

It’s of course not a guarantee that frequent patching will happen with ESO, but if their business model is based on monthly paying customers that drive their revenues and profits, they’re much more likely to listen and actually do something.

Like you said, P2P is no guarantee. This assertion that subscription models lead to companies listening closer to customers is unproven. Lots of examples of subscription based services from other industries…

Zenimax has made a lot of changes based on player feedback from the first couple of betas, I hope it continues.

I know from personal experience that this kind of responsiveness is not present at ANet.

I don’t know. During beta the Anet devs seems much more responsive to feedback. A few months after release that changed quite a lot. That might be a natural cycle.

It’s a huge problem for people who like to learn new systems, try things that others haven’t thought of before and get it work. No new classes or weapon-lines have been added to the game since release.

1. ESO has better optimization(more FPS less lagg)
2. Target style of pvp and less animation(this freaking aoe in gw2 burn my eyes)
3. Enemies die in pvp…without stupied rallybringers and they run from start point!

So there are some points of advantage…

Players who have died can be rezzed, but it is extraordinarily difficult to do so while in the middle of a fight. It’s something you can do if you win the fight. There is a certain build that might make it possible to do some infight rezzing, but I think it would still be hard to pull off.

GW2 has much better combat animations and feel. ESO has a better map (MUCH better) and doesn’t have game mechanics that totally screw the side that is outnumbered in a given fight.

ESO zergs will win due to numbers but not because of game mechanics that favor zergs over smaller groups.

If there was a game with GW2’s basic combat and ability selection (ESO doesn’t give you access to enough abilities to use in a loadout, IMO) and ESO’s map and open world game mechanics that is what I would be playing.

A lot of solo and duo roamers run conditions, but not many small groups do. Most 5 man groups I’ve seen are power based. Large groups are almost never built around conditions.

Larger groups that are good against power are also good against conditions due to all of the guardians and warriors. For small groups both power and condition works unless you are fighting a group built around toughness and permanent uptime on protection, in which case conditions is better. If you aren’t facing such a group, then power is fine.

Conditions are very strong for solo and duo since you don’t have to worry about a ton of group cleansing. There are power builds that are just as good for this, however.

Im almost positive tainted shackles doesnt show the lines when you are using it on a stealthed victim. Yes you see it when used on you, but they dont see them so they dont know where you are.

That’s correct. The spell effect hits the stealthed thief but the green line animation doesn’t work on stealthers from the necro POV.

Fought AD and friends a couple time during leagues best small guild group we’ve ever fought. I can only imagine the absolute destruction you guys lay down on BP baddies. Great videos. Personally I think power is more viable but condis in the hands of a good necro is very powerful too as these videos show.

I faced a necro that with one auto-attack of his scepter put weakness, 3 stacks of bleed, burning and torment.

So you didn’t even realized that the necro used Death shroud to put torment on you because you know … scepter don’t have that.

I’m seriously fed up with these misinformed non-skilled whiners on this forum about necromancers. Learn to play. Dude.

Problem with Condi:

1) Stacking
2) “Condi Burst”, they are damage over time, not damage up front…except in this game
3) Not enough smaller condi clear abilities, specifically on weapons
4) 1 stat to increase the damage, the rest can go into defense traits
5) Some classes have an insane amount of it on weapons, while others dont

Its a completely broken system

These cause problems in smaller scale fights (especially the ability to stat extremely defensively while retaining excellent DPS via conditions), but Anet thinks everything is fine because conditions are considered to be weak by large guild groups running a ton of group cleansing.

All of these chokepoints will end up causing even more zerging as people get funneled into the same place. It’s extremely difficult to meet up with people on a separate part of the map. The cannons are just absolutely horrible. It feels like fighting in an eternal battleground where you own nothing and all the towers, keep, and SM have people manning all of the siege. The difference is that your mobility is far more restricted in EoTM.

Don’t think I’ll be spending even another minute in the zone. Small groups looking for fights want fights in relatively open areas without siege or mob interference.

Last couple of movies as conditions for awhile. Switching to power for a change of pace. Trying to come up with a stat spread that gives good damage and survivability for outnumbered fights as a power necro really makes you appreciate dire armor. Condition necro is so much easier to gear than power and has far better survivability.

Necros have 3 condi removals making other condi necros focusing him useless… not to mention the cleanses he gets from both the guard and the ele… Stop being blind-folded by rage.

Those necros have transfers and consume conditions too, you know. I didn’t watch the whole movie but the first fight is against a guild group and they have players get downed on their side. Tough fight, well worth posting.

Winning 1vNs against Yak’s Bend is probably pretty standard stuff for any class.

But, yes. Condition necros are more than able to win 1vNs against average GW2 players. Mobility sucks though, not sure where you are getting that from.

How to counter gigantic melee trains?

I run a 15-20 man skill group with about 9-13 heavies depending on the group size with the rest ranged. We usually dont have much trouble wiping groups that are 30-40 man sized grouped, especially pugs. The only thing we have had trouble with lately is countering 30-40 man groups that run 20-30 melee. Specific guilds actually that just run enormous melee together. It seems impossible to counter as by the 3rd or 4th push we’ve only wiped out 10 people in their zerg while their entire melee train is still alive. Theres no way in hell we can push into the melee train with our melee, as we all get melted instantly. Slowing down the melee train with cripple and chill does work for a bit and gives us time to do other things but its still not enough. 20-30 melee, especially guardians, have an enormous amount of healing and dps, and health.

ITT: Player who runs with a cheese guild is upset that there are larger guilds that run the same cheese.

You couldn’t be more wrong. Seige lacks an AoE cap, and as someone who’s worked with game engines in the past, it’s all code. An engine isn’t some monolithic piece of hardware that runs the game. It can be edited, tweaked, and changed on a whim. What COULD be an actual problem is package sending between the clients and servers, which would increase tremendously if they were to lift the cap from individuals. It’s all speculation though, I don’t have access to the source code to confirm, obviously.

They have stated that their current system could not handle raising the AOE cap for players. Take it up with Anet.

This is sad then. All good WvW game didn’t have this AoE Cap. DAOC and Warhammer.

IMO this aoe cap reduce the skill cap between a good group and a mindless zerg.

Pretty much. Unfortunately, the flaws in GW2 WvW are things that can’t be fixed. It’s a shame because without those flaws equal number fights in this game can be really fun. Unfortunately, it’s getting harder and harder to find good fights because almost everyone, and I mean everyone zergs it up.

They die because they have a 20 sec stunlock keeping them from kiting to avoid damage and maneuver with their group. A single person can kite a group easily with the right skills and ability. They can’t do that, however, if they are forced to stand in one spot and get steam rolled.

I would say the root locking serves as a correct solution to an otherwise imbalance, then.

If 5 players attack you, you should get steamrolled. Period. There’s little semblance of balance if sheer strategically superior numbers cannot auto-win you a fight.

We aren’t talking about 5v1s. We are talking about 5vNs where you use this advanced technique called “focusing a target.” And it doesn’t take all five people to completely lock someone down. Two or three will do quite nicely.

And let’s remember that the root is being covered by a ton of conditions and they are also taking basilisk venom stuns from multiple sources as well. Good times.

The only way to survive this is with a stunbreak and port. There is almost zero counterplay.

When we are running venom sharing, people we hit are rooted for over 20 seconds. Rooted from first contact to dead. For those saying all they have to do is remove the condition. Well, they have every other condition on them covering that root.

You know you are describing a single target being attacked by a group of 5 players?
I’d call imbalance if they wouldn’t go down easily.

They die because they have a 20 sec stunlock keeping them from kiting to avoid damage and maneuver with their group. A single person can kite a group easily with the right skills and ability. They can’t do that, however, if they are forced to stand in one spot and get steam rolled.

^ Some people understand this. Other people, including the developers don’t.

When you are almost always fighting outnumbered part of your build has to be selfish so you can survive when getting focused.

TLDR: Meditations aren’t necessary for zerglings.

I feel the staff AA should knock back enemies to make up for its low fire rate and damage. In addition, orb of light should knock down all foes hit by the detonation for 2 seconds. These changes would be very fair and balanced and allow the guardians staff to be balanced to the standards of other staves in the game.

That’s a good start, but it should also be such that it can’t be evaded, blinded, or blocked. Oh, and stability shouldn’t work against it. That would make staff pretty good.

We should submit these reasonable requests to the developers.

I’ve been running a variation of this build for months (back before the huge buffs to meditations even). I use cleric/magi instead of cleric/soldier to get my crit chance higher. It’s a flexible build that can solo, duo, and do full group support just by switching weapons and a few traits.

It has no problem fighting 1v1 but you will stalemate against other classes with high sustain. Check the playlist below. Some are full group support, some are solo/duo. All use the same basic framework of 0/0/30/20/20.
