Very nice fight against BP in the ruins. Well, the second half anyway. First half is nothing special.

Some fights against a few of the BP guilds. The last fight against VP is just filler since they don’t put up much of a fight with relatively equal numbers. I just needed a clip to fill out the song.

It looked to me like the 1v1 was over, your mesmer got downed and then our mesmer got attacked or attacked someone. It’s possible I didn’t see that correctly since I didn’t fraps it.

Being outnumbered is not what bothered me. If that was the case we would have not engaged when we scouted your numbers. What bothered me is that even though we fought you while outnumbered, you came to attack us before we could fully regroup.

When you said the other day that you were looking forward to fight us, I didn’t think you meant that you were looking forward to fighting us with more numbers and while you had stacks and we didn’t.

About that 1v1 you were observing. The only reason it even happened is because instead of ganking the solo vT mesmer in front of the SW tower with four we let them go so they could have a 1v1 with our mesmer.

When that fight ended, combat continued. I’m not sure if you attacked our mesmer, our mesmer attacked you, or the nonBP mesmer who was there attacked our mesmer. We saw combat with our mesmer surrounded by you so we engaged. This is not the 4v4 I was referring to. It was more of a 5v5 because both sides had a PUG add. Yes, I got downed and came back but you had already pretty much lost by the time I got back. Your engineer was so close to death that he died to a single terror tic and the other person who was still alive was nearly dead as well. I don’t consider that fight a “win” because of the outside inteference. It just wasn’t a clean fight.

The 4v4 happened after that fight. You then came back with six. We waited there in the middle island for awhile. I told my group that you were probably building stacks and coming back. I would personally let the enemy group regather and build their stacks up than try to go to their spawn to hit them while they regrouping. Especially, if I was fighting them while they were outnumbered. We saw you had six, but we engaged with four anyway. We saw you had eight with the extra PUGs, but we engaged with six anyway. In return, you come to hit us while we are regrouping from the loss.

Classy stuff. And, you guys realize that I fraps, right? You think maybe I verified the numbers involved before posting? Want to see the fraps?

E. Coming in with 7 and attacking 5 while we were still separated and trying to build stacks. Bonus points for the mass invis and leading with moa out of stealth to burst me down. Really good play there.

Coming to the forums to post videos about other guilds you killed in mockery is just sad. It reeks of pretentiousness. You shouldn’t view yourself above others because of your skill level and you have no right to condemn people for playing the way they play, especially when it’s so hypocritical. Be respectful. Try telling them it was a tough fight and hope they improve to give you a more challenging fight next time.

As far as the video with [Lost]. Since they dropped 10 build sites on me after 15v4ing us, I figured they would have the sense of humor to handle a joke. I actually appreciate that they come out and fight with manageable numbers more often than not. They run heavy CC and focus target well, so it’s not an easy fight for me as a necro. They are the ones focusing me in the first part of this movie.

Believe me or not brah when I see a roaming group that I like and they are fixing to get zerged I always advise my guildies not to attack because that just doesn’t feel right. Kab and have been duoing recently and got bsty trained 5v2 it’s not a big deal we know they are good players and don’t hold it against them and say they zerged us down.

I’m not really upset with vT. I wasn’t referring to you when I was saying we get zerged down. I don’t consider 5 people a zerg. I’m more or less talking about situations where we are fighting one guild group and another entire guild group adds into the fight ruining what was or could have been a fun fight. Too many people care about winning and not about having fun. I enjoy challenging fights. I don’t enjoy overwhelming other people with numbers just as I don’t enjoy getting overwhelmed with numbers. I wish more people thought that way.

Aside from the one comment, nothing else is directed towards you guys. You just ruined what might have been a good 1v2 clip, but one of them was an upscale so I’ll get over it. :P

I’m not talking about a specific event or a guild, but a general pattern. Walk in my shoes and you would understand what I’m talking about.

We generally lay off of people who we recognize as good players who consistently roam in small groups or solo roam if we outnumber them badly. We don’t lay off of people when we outnumber them if we’ve seen their tag running in a zerg or if they have kittened us off for some reason.

Far too much moderation on GW2Guru. It was even more carebearish than these forums when it came to “insulting” other players, guilds, and servers.

I’ve heard that they are disappointed in the Necromancer community and are considering removing the Necromancer Profession subforum like they are removing the WvW Matchup subforum.

I just don’t feel comfortable with this heal when I know I’m going to get focused. You might not be quite as hated as I am, Rennoko, since you are so respectful to your enemies. Tricare might end up changing that for you though.

Looking forward to a lot of great 5v15 fights against the BP hammer train skill groups.

In terms of cooldowns, you could compare it to staggering blow. Banish has a 25 sec cooldown and staggering blow has a 20 sec cooldown. One is single target and the other is AoE. It would make sense for the single target to have a shorter cooldown.

Banish has a longer knockback, but that is actually detrimental in many cases. The only time I can think of where that is beneficial is for knocking people off of cliffs.

The other advantage that banish had over staggering blow is that it didn’t root you to cast it, but that advantage no longer exists.

When Dynnen is saying that the guardian’s CC isn’t that good, he is comparing it to the other frontliner, the warrior. And he is right. The warrior has CC setups that far surpass what a guardian can do in both hard and soft CC. That is probably appropriate in terms of balance since the guardian brings more group support, but the question is how much better should the warrior be?

Ehmry Bay, but I keep track of the Maguuma and NSP matchup threads since they often have some good forum drama.

Different playstyles. JI allows more for clutch plays and quick reactions to an unpredictable battlefield while Hold the Line allows for more of a conservative sustain and outlast playstyle.

JI opens up a lot of utility and versatility to make clutch plays in unpredictable situations. If you see a bunch of people grouped up together at range, you can JI/Ring them so your groupmates can dump AoE on them. Running up to them slowly to place the ring won’t work. JI is all about awareness of surroundings and taking advantage of a situation instantly.

JI/root allows you to catch up to people who are beyond 1200 range. You can also JI/banish someone stomping a team-mate if you are out of range to get to them by running. Got a guy downed in a crowd with enemies trying to revive him? Banish while starting your stomp channel and JI to finish him off. Of course, there is also JI stomping a thief on port and you can use JI to close the gap to an elementalist after he has misted to secure a stomp.

It’s not all about hammer, of course. JI/SoA is huge for clutch plays. Got some guys stomping a friend at long range? JI to them, knock them off and revive. Got an enemy downed deep behind the lines and he is getting rezzed? JI to them, knock them off and stability stomp.

And, of course… JI/SoA to knock back some suckas standing too close to a cliff.

It can also be used to kite and escape focus trains by JIing to a distant target

JI isn’t a wasted cooldown if you use it to make clutch plays particularly when dealing with downed state situations.

I’m more trilled about fighting in open field with everything that come with it than going into a enclosed gvg. I like GvG. I participated to it and I love to watch the fights video but personnally it mean nothing to me. A guild is much more than a 15v15. A great guild could lose a 15v15 GvG but still being a big part of carrying the server every weeks in WvW since the game launched.

TBH I saw [Mu] for the first time yesterday. I remembered your guild tag because of your pseudo bragging on forums. I was eager to find what you guys were able to and TBH it was a big let down. All I saw a 25-35 peoples trying to siege a tower/hill’s lord room with ac/balista and fail at it.

Next time jump into open field and be more respectful.

The problem with these type of folks that transfer from higher tiers is that they believe everything is “settled” with a gvg. I am sorry but balling up in a bunker/premade set with set rotations does not = skill to me, well other than the choreography involved.

Anytime you kill (while roaming) any of the higher tier transfer folks in these big kind of guilds it is always: “you are killing people with support builds”.

So when you realize these things you come to understand what a “great defense” mechanism the bunker/30-man/“gvg us bro”/zergball mentality comes from….

One day people may come to realize that running bunker-support is really just not necessary (even though it is effective as you win by attrition and hammertrains eventually when facing pug groups and even some fairly organized smaller guilds). Many of these same groups could run much more DPS (MUCH MUCH MORE), and have even better results, but more DPS mean having better skilled players in large scale fights. (Since you lose defense and support usually to get the DPS)

Yeah, but those groups are built to fight 40 people, not 5. That is why they sometimes lose or have difficulty with 5 people. Makes perfect sense to me.

I don’t really care what your street-cred is but if you actually think doom should have a casting time then you don’t know what you are talking about.

If doom had a casting time then it could not be used while stunned or knocked down. It is our main defense against getting chain CCd or stunned and burst since we have a general lack of stability and escapes.

With respect to WvW, necro is one of the stronger 1v1 classes and is very good for small group combat if your group is built around supporting the necro both offensively and defensively.

Some really nice fights. Guardian/Necro is a really good combo since they cover some of our weaknesses.

Far too few have issues with the downed state. I think it’s fine as is.

The only people who don’t have an issue with downed/defeated state are the people who benefit from it which are the zerglings. So, yes… those who have an issue with it are in the minority.

Downed state is here to stay. What really needs to go is being able to revive people who have been spiked.

Down state is a mechanic to cap the power of highly skilled, experienced players. If power scaled with skill, then 10 mans would be wiping 60 man zergs. Ditto for aoe caps. A game that lets experienced/skilled players completely dominate would end up driving most people away, and become a niche game with a much smaller population.

The down state works quite well for what it was intended to do. It’s frustrating at times, but I’d rather see a game where the large majority of people can have fun and get in a win, then a game dominated just by the hardcore players.

What? A game that lets skilled and experienced players hold their own against multiple enemies would be such a travesty!

That’s basically what you’re saying. If I or anyone else am skilled enough to hold my own in a 1v3 then we deserve to win, those 3 deserve to be on the floor deader than roadkill. Even with friends in a 3v 8+ it’s already hard to win against odds like that but when downed state comes into the equation it just complicates things so much more.

We can down someone but when 2-5 people instantly jump on his body they res him faster than i can push F to even start the stomp.

And removing downed state won’t drive people away that’s a ridiculous thought. No body says " I play gw2 because of downed state" thats like saying “i play gw2 because i die all the time” If anything doing this will just bring back the better pvpers that anet chased away.

I’m not convinced that the developers have a poor grasp on balance. I actually think they just have a soft spot for trolls and trolling. Stealth mechanics, perplexity, mobility warriors, misting through doors, etc etc.

GW2 is the most troll-friendly game I can think of. Diamond skin is a mechanic designed to troll a specific class and build.

You need to understand the mentality of the people that you argue against. Game Slayer is an elementalist that fights outside of his towers so he can run in the door when he gets low or gets downed.

This is not the type of person that is looking for balanced 1v1s. This is the type of person who wants to “win” ( or to be more accurate, not lose) no matter how that is achieved.

There isn’t really any point in arguing with someone who wants to fight without the risk of “losing.” Even if that loss is averted by misting through a tower door.

At least they didn’t move it all to the Fan-generated Content subforum. :-D

We were fighting some BP when TS started going down as well. Also, someone in Venezuela charged my credit card for a pair of sneakers. I see this as pretty much definitive proof that all of the Borlis Pass server are hackers.
