Last we heard the forum specialists were waiting for anet to give them a template to use to make their reports.

But if the forums specialist think they can make these reports without taking to us here on the forums, then they have no idea what they are doing!

What map rotation?!

When the new map was announced they did say it would be added to a rotation.

But now they claim the new map is a replacement for the old map. So WvW finally gets a new map but we’ll still only have one.
They say they may bring the alpine map back in the future, but in WvW the future is up to 3 years!

I really do hope the devs have been working on more than one new map and hopefully they will release a second new map a few months after HOT is released.

Well then in that case, better preparation. Practice what they were going to say. I know presenting isnt for everyone, but the more you practice the less nervous you get, sometimes.

Yes I want to know what the content is more than a flashy presentation, but for me, the nervousness of those two came through more than the content.

Sorry guys but I have to say this, you lot are really really bad at doing presentations!

I was cringing when those two people were presenting the new WvW map at EGX.
When you had Jennifer Hale do that at the first announcement, almost all of my guild began shouting “Death to Queen Jennah”, she was just that bad at it!

Seriously though, you might want to hire someone from a business which will do presentation for you!

This is your own game and I did not feel any excitement from those presenting, just nerves!

A good presentation help sell, a bad one does not!

They do care. The problem is, posters such as yourself, make this form of disingenuous claim, simply because they made a change that benefits everyone or a change, and not you personally.

If they cared about their customers who play wvw they would communicate. They do not, ergo I can’t fathom how anyone thinks they care? How often do you see them in this forum talking to us? Explaining their reasoning for changes they make? Doing just the most basic customer service things…

Indeed, communication is key.

I dont know how any WvW player can defend anet’s attitude to WvW players. Based on coglin’s account, he’s been here for over a year, he should know the way we’ve been treated. That is if he is a WvW player at all.

At launch the communicated with us, we gave feedback, they replied, told us what they liked, what they think they could add and what may be considered in the future.
Then all we got was “we cannot talk about it” for the last 2 years! That’s two years of being fobbed off.

So how coglin can continue to defend anet’s ways are beyond me, in fact I just consider him a troll on the WvW forums. Or perhaps because he’s only been here a year, he, like us, allowed to give anet time to fix things for the first year after launch, only to then be ignored the following two.

I think they have to change the way ACs work. Obstacles should stop arrows. It is ridiculous that you can place ACs directly in front of a wall target the wall and hit targets behind the wall. ACs should work like other siege weapons launching projectiles: obstacles stop the projectiles.

It’s called a trajectory.

It all depends on what trajectories anet allows. If you point an arrow straight up, then it will come straight back down.
So it is possible to hit something behind a wall even if the cart is on the other side. Just like a treb can be fired OVER a wall, so can arrows. Why people think a wall should block an projectile is beyond me.

Removing WvW map completion from World completion is one thing, but removing the rewards for WvW map completion is another! They didnt have to remove the rewards at all. Just another example of the devs not knowing the WvW community.

I say remove the buffs PvE gets from our hard work in WvW, make it so the buffs are in WvW only.

Depends on HOT. If HOT is to be released in the summer then I dont see one until winter.
If HOT is to be released in winter, then maybe a summer tourny; however I think they’ll be spending too much time on HOT release so we probably will not see one until next year really.

The lag is here to stay, it’s always been a server issue.

Anet’s income has just kept falling, the game isnt doing that well. Hence why so much content has been added for only PvE.

As for HOT again it’s mainly PvE, one new WvW map to get WvW to also buy the expansion. But you know that even if this does give anet some extra income, it wont be enough to improve WvW servers; PvE comes first i’m afraid.

They may be able to limit it by prioritizing bandwidth to higher ranked servers, but this just means more lag for the rest of us.

The reason WvW being part of map completion is a problem is because if you happened to roll a character on a bad WvW server you have 0 chance of ever completing it. You shouldn’t be forced to switch servers to finish content. If you had no problems getting any portion of the wvw map consider yourself lucky.

Even if you are on a bad server, it doesnt mean you cannot get a group to take a tower.

Simple fact is that these PvE players are simply too lazy to spend their gold on siege and the time required to take a tower. And the time required is pretty short, even if there are defenders.

I’ve seen a 3 man team take a tower even in T1 servers! Lower tiers have no excuse!

The removal of WvW points from map completion is not only ridiculous but also contradictory of what anet say. They want players to explore all aspects of the game, but then remove the need to explore in WvW.

Do you remember map completion in GW1? Remember those really nasty areas of the map where you had to get right up next to the edge, in some cases you even had to try to glitch yourself to a spot in order to get 100% completion of a zone! Did anet ever fix that, i dont think they did. So why this continues support to make things easier for PvE players?

And with all this important talk about WvW, one has to ask, Where is Marmatt?!!! 17 days since his last post. I though these forum specialists were supposed to be active on their specific forum sections?!

If EOTM was tested by real WvW players, it would never have become the karma train ground it has become.

There were many, many WvW guilds invited to the beta for EotM.

Obviously the wrong ones seeing what has happened to EOTM. When it went live everyone was complaining about EOTM even pugs on my server!

So why didnt these guilds see the problems which would occur when we found them within the first couple of days.

As trolly as this post seems, there are players I have encountered that do hold this stance,

If you have been around since launch you may remember that siege trolls have always been around. We complained about it then, the answer we got from a moderator was that they cannot control the way a player plays the game.

Even though we quoted the rules of conduct and pointed out that this is clearly affecting everyone, they still refused to do anything about it, so why now after 3 years do they now say you cannot do this?

I think a lot of the players who tested EOTM werent WvW players but sPvP players.

Anet would have wanted to know at least some of the people who would be testing it so they invited guilds from past sPvP tournaments they had got to know.
So they basically got people who like oranges to tell them how good an apple tastes.

If EOTM was tested by real WvW players, it would never have become the karma train ground it has become.

I’m using 6/4/2/0/2 staff with zerkers everything. The amount of dps from meteor shower + ice storm + lava font is completely nuts on the SW bosses. It’s definitely not faceroll but pretty survivable if you have good dodges and positioning.

But are you soloing, in a party or running on withe the map zerg?

There absolutely is. You should re-read it. It is very clear on the matter.

I have done, nowhere does it say siege trolling is not allowed.

A ballista is perfectly useful, although to a lesser extent, in any area a ram is useful.

And again who is to say which siege location is useful and which is not?
When the game first came out, my guild was one of those what used rams in open field combat with enemy zergs.
Skill 2 on a ram induced fear on enemies, some players didnt realise that and used that to our advantage.
So even though we had dozens of players shouting why we throw down rams each time, we carried on and won our fights.

Now in this instance, what happens if those same players reported our commander? He’d get banned for what most thought was useless siege when it was vital to our fights especially when we are outnumbered 2-1 or more!

But again I refer to my first point, nowhere does it say in the rules of conduct that siege trolling is not allowed. If the rules are changed to include it, then anet will be spammed with and endless list of what people constitute as trolling and ruin the entire game! It’ll become just another karma train EOTM maps.

So far it’s not official NA and EU server will have WvW removed from map completion, but if it is how about a compromise.

As someone already stated the best solution is 1 gift for PvE completion and 1 for WvW (who knows for sPvP).

Not only that but each is a different gift, say Gift of Tyria and Gift of WvW.
The Tyria one can be used to make PvE Legendary weapons
The WvW can be used to make WvW Legendary weapons.

This way both parties get what they want, PvE can get their PvE map completion without doing WvW; WvW can get their WvW map completion without doing PvE; both get rewards for being able to gain mats to craft specific legendaries.

I investigated this last night and the claims are false. I found the person that was placing siege and terminated that account.

Also, remember that false reporting can lead to a suspension or termination of your account.

And what will happen in those matches where you completely dominate the matchup, the commander thrown down a ram, and then a random player throws down a dozen ballista blueprints? We laugh at it sometimes cos we’re so bored we’d actually build them sometimes for a laugh. Are you now saying this person who threw those ballistas can get suspended from the game if now reported?

I just had to run some LS quests for the carapace armor and ele works just fine.
I’ve used the dungeon build just remove 2 trait points to make staff aoe larger
6/4/0/2/2 full zerk scholar runes and mobs just melt

You seriously use this build? Cos mobs aint melting, I am!

This has to be one of the worst builds I’ve used, and it looks like it isnt for soling, you need someone else to keep the mobs off you whilst you do the dps. Totally not what I was looking for!

Also please also give what gear you are using with your traits, 66002 isnt a build, its a trait line which doesnt even give you the specific traits to use either, though i guess that could depend on where you are.

I’d stay away from german servers then, it’s NA logic but replace champ loot bag with PPT

But yes I think a mod or dev should comment on this, this is just pathetic.
But can you blame them as WvW will not receive a new map until the expansion comes out, maybe later this year, we still dont know the date yet. Players are bored so they are making their own fun and getting rewards for it as well.

Well decided to do some of this Living Story and I need build.

At the moment it takes forever to kill a Mordrem husk with my staff, sure I can survive for hours, but the time it takes to kill just one is simply too long.

I’m a solo player do I need something with high damage and good survivability.
So I see people saying dagger/dagger, though that sounds more for WvW.
Any views?

I run Ventari, that’s ascended Normad.

My build isnt for dps or tagging, you get little loot.
I use it for water ele to do better heals. You’re there to basically keep your group alive and let them tag everything.

The real problem is WvW rewards.

No longer do we get rewarded for dolly escorts, instead of adding events which requires the escorts to do, anet simply did the easy thing and disabled the reward completely.

Again the rewards for defending only occur if the enemy attacks.
There are no rewards for scouting or patrolling at all.

But who know maybe in 2 years when HOT is released, colin claimed to say that the expansion will add features to WvW which depend more on defense and holding towers rather than flipping.

Did I dream this or was this once in WvW?

No you dreamed it up, but we like you here in WvW have many many dreams, and almost all of them have not come true.

And yes, a chest at spawn where you collect your missed loot bags due to wipes was one of those dreams; though we did get AOE looting which helps, but you still miss quite a few bags.

So I just finished the personal story on my second character, end credits rolling, get my reward and then I also get a message in my mail.

Check the mail and it’s from Marjory, the About the Symbol message you get towards the end of the Living Story missions!

Definitely needs a fix to prevent new players getting confused.
