Silver Doubloons just went up to 94s.
I’m leaving the game soonish. This is unacceptable.
Already signed up for TESO closed beta.
It’s easy, make level 20 characters, park them at the JP chest in non-level zones like Lion’s Arch, or take your mains and open the level 20 JP zones for silver doubloons, they also can be crafted with gems which is probably profitable right now if silver doubloons are 94s.
Also no one cares, if your such a baby and going to quit the game cause your not getting your way, just quit now because not everything will be your way in this game so learn to deal with it and appreiacate what you earned. It’s certainly not my way for me… I get owned with all the “ticket skins, like fused, scelrite” because they are so extremely rare because the company is trying to milk profit from idiots who blow $200 trying to get a ticket vs. selling them fairly at a flat rate for a decent price so people like me can stock up their sPvP locker, but nope… im missing out on content because I REFUSE to spent 2000g or $500+ to get 20 tickets when they release their stupid RNG chest.
Threathening to quit over this won’t change anything, wish you would realise that because reading it gets really old. Unless 10,000 people came on here and complained all at once, not much will happen. Best of luck though.
Just counting how many actually got one
I got one about 40-50 crates in… my wife got none after a good 10-20.
A lot of people got their legendary items from the old Karka Event or from getting the precursors extremely cheap during the first month of the game launch. Yet people who own them are labeled as “Basement Dwellers” because they see they cost so much right now. Honestly most people that earn it get it from luck through the forge, a enemy drop, or a easy method in the past and may have way less hours logged then yourself.
Also what this guy is saying from what I read is he wants to be recongized as someone who actual took the time and effort to craft it (via two 400 skills, 300 skill points, 500k-1m karma etc.) vs. someone with a fat wallet who can spend $600 buying one. I can understand that aspect, but of course people in this thread seem too derailed that with all their jealous anger to figure that out….
I assume it’s from the 4th -12th for the Living Story Achievements etc, after that it will be permanent as others stated.
This happened to me earlier before the reset.. and the day before too… however a friend of mine was able to get it before the reset…. i’m pretty much getting screwed over while others are not. Hopefully they will just not put this as an achievement in the future, it causes too many problems.
It will probably take multiple years for these to be worth a lot… why? a good 1000+ being traded, even tho they are cheap and only 4 rich people could all buy a stack of 250, that means you have 4 of them with 250 undercutting eachother causing the price to crash.
These won’t be worth a lot for A LONG TIME as legitimate buyers are needed to force demand
I suspect these to crash really fast once the event is over with, with everyone undercutting eachother like with SAB skins, it’s usaully not in many peoples nature to invest into bulk amounts and leave them on their accounts for multiple years. This item will be common for years… the old southsun pets were far rarer and they have only went up 4-8x in price since 6 months ago..
Honestly I wouldn’t worry about leveling professions until your 80 and you have money, they don’t really provide you with the best gear because collecting the materials is WAY TOO TIME CONSUMING compared to just making money via killing monsters and selling items like unid dyes etc. and purchasing equipment from the Trading Post. Plus let’s not forget crafting doesn’t make you profit unless your collecting everything yourself, and…. about the only good thing about it is being a quick way to level up. I hear however it cost around 60 gold to level from 1 to 80 through crafting, I would just do it legit
But you can play whichever way you prefer, that’s your choice.
Yes, easy way to figure this out if you are confused.
Selling an item for 100g means you’ll get 90g projected profit, however at 100g 5% is 5g, so you’ll actually get 85g total back instead of 90g as it appears since you paid 5g to list it.
Okay, let me explain how this works…
When a limited item comes into the game, or an item that will have demand on it, about everyone and your mom is going to buy them up and hoard them to make free profit, meaning you can visually think there is 1 legit buyer to every 10 having the item…. when the event ends, typically means the “hype” or “demand” will too, causing a mega crash, as we seen… time and time again because 9 out of 10 people are trying to dump them for profit, causing an undercut effect on an item that is hyperinflated by price. Until it’s a “reasonable price” they won’t commonly get bought up fast.
Yes… they WILL go up, especially since they were confirmed to be discontinued, however it may take multiple years before all 200+ are bought up by LEGIT users (meaning the skin isn’t sitting in a merchants bank).
A good example are the old Southsun pets, the Mini Hatchling, Karka, and Reef Drake, all were around 15g around the event when it ended, currently worth 60-100+ due to supply and demand from new collectors etc.

I’m not a huge mini fan. I hate getting a mini that I know people want that I won’t use. I’d love to be able to sell it, but if that’s not possible for whatever reason, could we at least have a way to gift it to someone? I’d rather give it away than destroy it.
Doubt it, this would just create a way to sell them via trust trading and be pointless.
There is a reason for the choices and it boils down to money mostly…
Xmas, you got toy frames for the 5 endless tonics, and enough cogs to make 3 pets, so to unlock it ALL, I made the tonics and bought all 5 pets… the last couple days to the event they add a toy frame vendor in and I got screwed out of 1200 gems.
Bottom line is they wanted the actual $$$
Spring mini’s, same thing… and then they re-release them for 2 days to milk more cash from them.
Bottom line, they wanted the actual $$
Fire Ministorm was so rare, a lot of people bought gems to convert to gold (same with the backpack) meaning, due to screweing a lot of people out of earning the content they deserved to originally have… they were making $20-50 per person wanting to buy one off the trading post.
Bottom line, they wanted the actual $$
Mini Reef Rider… i’m pretty sure this was a mistake, considering there is a few 1,000 in the game right now for a “Limited Time” pet… i think their predictions were far off because it’s way too common.

Agreed, it was really stupid to spend multiple golds on one time use crafting stations/mystic forges, seriously it’s cheaper to buy the 5 month old one time use forges in the game then to via gems lol.
he has 13k, so does moe, joe, and blo. Long term investment, or sell quick for a tiny profit. Hoarding is useless short term on certain items. Mini Reef Riders for example are a good long term investment (multiple years down the road).
yeah I was pretty kitten ed when I got 10 ecto from 25 rares… granted ANET gave me 3 BLSK back in the mail, they didn’t give me the rares back.
I was really psyched after seeing what the LS team could do with F&F, so it’s sad to say SoS came as a real disappointment. Overall I’d say if F&F was 85-90, SoS for me would be something like a 60 which is roughly the same as how I’d rate being Trahearne’s kitten in the personal story.
1) Didn’t care about the NPCs so I didn’t care about the story. No memorable NPCs that you can ‘bond’ with like Rox or Braham. The NPCs in F&F also seemed to have more of a story to tell on the whole like when you’d return trinkets to them and things.
2) The dungeon fights were just bad and I also hesitate to call it a dungeon seeing as it’s just a single room.
The single player fight vs Canach was all about using a gimmick that’d been set up to defeat him and not about using a character’s abilities. At no point did I feel threatened either because Canach was incapable of dealing real damage. I just stood there and kept disarming the same mine over and over while popping a heal.
The fight vs Null was focused on the things around him. The main boss was no real threat, it was the mines, the electric balls, and the DPS check auto damage that could kill a player. Think there needs to be a better balance between gimmick and actual fights. Maybe 20% gimmick, 80% actual fighting?
Also having mobs spawn around the entrance/exit of a dungeon without warning is bad design IMO. I had the ‘misfortune’ of going in when the path was clear and assumed it to be then popping out to see a crapload of Karka in my face and even more along my escape path.
3) Southsun as an area is unfun because of mobs focused on taking control away from the player and being HP sponges. The terrain is a pain to traverse because the design allows a player to go off the path easily (jump off, swim), but provides no easy way to get back on it due to elevation. Also having WPs constantly contested due to events makes travel an even greater pain in the kitten .
+1, I agree with everything he has said.
F&F seemed to have a lot more work into it and cooler rewards.
One thing I did like about SoS is it was in an 80 area rather then a noobie area which allowed us to farm useful materials, plus an area we hardly go, so +1 to ANET for that, but it’s true that the landscape is abit annoying to travel around especially with contested WP’s.
I’m guessing that, lke Ascended gear, they’ll keep it lazy and just re-use Orrian temple karma armour skins with Settler’s stats (Toughness, Condition Damage, Healing Power).
There’s a reason they made the first Ascended gear trinkets you know; It meant that the art assets they needed to create were minimal, as trinkets aren’t visible on player characters.
It’s disgusting that these cost-cutting and time-saving measures are so blatantly obvious.
Or perhaps it was because they didn’t want to release full armor sets replacing Exotic within the first two months of the game but rather slowly the off-set pieces… but you right, or a bit of both.
Before I was waste 150g on one of these minis I would like to know if anyone has gotten one as a drop lately. XD
Thanks
They do not drop, garentee you they are a Limited item from the last Southsun Event, you can safely buy one. Trust me… even if the drop rate was 1 in 10,000 a couple 100 would have entered the game by now with all the people farming Southsun this last month just like the Mini Reef (450+ listed, and 1000’s hoarded by rich players)
I think so.
I know mini Reef Drakes kept dropping after the Lost Shores event ended and I’m pretty sure the same is true of the other 2 minis. They’re just very rare.
I’m pretty sure that’s all bullcrap, because when they introduced the shoulder skins and breathing mask, they REMOVED the mystic forge recipe to prevent you from getting the pets and to keep them Limited. It didn’t matter previously cause “new” skins werent entering the game.
You are doing it wrong.
Get 200% MF buff, get 50% booster, 30% food, 10% g-banner (or 15%), 15% sigil, and 10% passive guild buff and go farm Skelk with Berserker Gear sitting on 315% magic find.
Every time I go farm for roughly 1 hour segments I usually get.
40-60 Potent Blood
10-15 Powerful Blood
40-60 Sharp Fangs
10-20 Vicious Fangs
2 Crates+
2-4+ yellow/exoticsIt seems to be great overall, and they spawn like crazy. (just north of the south-eastern WP).
Same here
Used to see numbers like this farming skelk on my 385% ish MF Engineer.
My last two tries on my 300% MF Guardian have resulted in: (one hour sessions)
4 Powerful blood
35 Potent
3 Vicious Fangs
26 Sharp Fangs
2 crates
4 rares
1 unid6 powerful blood
42 potent
4 vicious fangs
31 sharp fangs
2 rares
4 unidsEither RNG is being simply unkind to me (or that 60%ish MF makes that much a difference), or there was a skelk drop nerf.
I miss 30 powerfuls an hour…
My kill ratio per hour may be higher, I can usally two shot them or AoE them down really well with dancing dagger or sword and I use a 25% movement buff, plus I sometimes kill the skelk/rays in the water and move to the far eastern shore in hopes it reduces farm codes etc.
The Reef Rider was confirmed to be limited, therefore it will not drop after the event is over.
The amulet, ring, and accessory however “HAS” as possiblity because they are keeping the karka meta event in the game and these could possibly be rewards from the boss
Time will tell..
This mini was confirmed to be limited therefore it will be worth a lot of gold, however… with the economy so flooded with them and some merchants who are hoarding as many as 50-100+ of these, I can garentee you it will take MULTIPLE years before you see these as much as other exotic mini’s
.
Even after they start rising, some people that actually want to keep them will end up selling because they want gold and they are worth a lot (currently happening with the expensive karka pets) because legit owners are decided to take gold instead of keeping it.
To me they are cheap enough that I’d prefer to buy a bunch, which I did, everyone else should too
I’m up to 50 crates or so roughly and not one ticket… did FINALLY get a mini however.
You are doing it wrong.

Every time you buy a key to open a BL chest, you do get something. It’s called boosters and service items. You are always guaranteed to get these items and that is exactly what you are paying for. These items are worth something even if you do not care about them. Just because you open a chest and consider it empty if it doesn’t have a skin in it doesn’t mean that you were cheated.
While you are right, you receive your gems worth of items typically… you are not considering the fact people DONT care about them and are only after desired item in the chest, otherwise they wouldn’t buy it in the first place… so techincally to that person the chest IS EMPTY. If it was to be fair, put those skins on the TP seperate.
If you made a profit every time you gambled, so many things would go wrong.
You are not making a profit because the items people seek are merely cosmetic.
Someone please teach me how to invest. I am terrible.
I foresaw Rosemary going up in price, so I bought a stack at 1s each. Over the next week, the price began to plummet, so I bailed and sold them at 80c each. Now they are ~4s each, a few weeks later.
I invested in Super Skins when they were rapidly increasing in price. Bought a Super Shield at 28g. It then did nothing but drop, and now it’s worth 11g.
Another 2 items which I will not mention have dropped by about 20% in the week or 2 since I invested in them. I’m hoping that this is going to be similar to what happened with Rosemary, and I will see a 300% increase, but I can’t be sure.
I opted not to invest in Sentintel’s Intricate Gossamer Insignias when they were 1.5g, and here they are over 6g now.
I am consistently making the wrong decisions. How do you guys do it? I’m just losing money. I made money flipping items in GW1, but not in GW2.
never buy items during release unless you plan to dump it within the same week… items always have high demand during the event… then drop like a rock when people don’t see much demand and all the merchants are trying to sell…. like with the flame and frost items. if you have the new blue minis, it’s a good time to sell them, a week after the event they will probably be 1/2 the price.
It was around the time people were putting 1000g bids on items that were account bound, so they never had to worry about their 1000g bids being filled.
there was a contract on the TP a few months ago that allowed you to purchase 500 items off the trading post instead of 250 but it was removed off the TP list.
Bought 40, got kitten… 1 shoulder skin, 1 axe skin, 1 MF and 1 CT, so 4800 gems for about 10g… waste.
Long term(multi year) investments are simple, buy items that have been confirmed to be discontinued or limited.
Karka pets, Flame Shaman Pet, SAB Skins for starters.
Since pets can always be resold, skins are a better option for profit.
Probably new popular cooking guides or something.
Yes, if you list it for 150g it will sell fast, because the person buying can relist it for 225g and profit around 30-40g off it. It would actually be wiser to list it for 180g ruining the profit margin and someone would still buy it quickly.
you need to sit around a TP, and keep updating your offer after someone places one in higher than you. usually a few precursors get listed a day, and more proably sold to the highest bidder, so I would keep at it for a few hours and you should snag one.
Does it seem odd that the keys are on sale when there are no special items in the chests?
Gamble that something will be added to the chests that you would like enough to buy keys to gamble for the something you want? RRNG?
Not odd, now that they have no promotion items in the chest (removed fused skins) they are losing a steady money flow, so they went on sale… same with the mini’s, disgusting really…
They do sell, may take a day, may take a month. Just depends on the supply and demand. For months Perm merchant contracts were sitting around 150g-170g, now they are 250g+? leave it in there, pretend it doesn’t exist and one day it will sell.
Why not just make the omelet a lower level…?
Because it would seem silly to have low level food in a high level zone probably.
So to others in Southsun a few questions .
How long have you farmed for crates? I farmed skelk for say… 2-3 hours one day
How many crates have you gotten? snagged like 5 crates and a bunch of t5/t6 materials.
Have you farmed Southsun previously for anything else? other than events and achievements.. nope.
Or you can stay down on the beach and farm skelks. 10-15g/ hour if you sell your mats
I find 10-15g / hour a bit hard to believe (granted I don’t sell t6).
Average loot from 1 hour skelk farming is ~20 powerful blood (5g) ~20 vicious fang (3g)
50 potent blood (50s) , 50 large fangs (50s)
~ 50 s from grey/white/blue/green + 5 golds + 2 crates.Hm, sounds reasonable after all. So you recommend the same route as in the video?
No, just farm the beach where he starts his grind in the video, the coast there below the WP. They spawn quickly to just do big loops on the beach and kill the nest when your waiting for the respawns.
new content is just for Gem Store promotions to milk people for cash.
Anything to make profit in the gem store… I realize the company has to make money, but ripping people off and ruining a game in the process is the wrong way to go.
1) stuff that doesn’t make since like you said
2) quick rushed updates for new gem store stuff
3) content being rare just so it becomes expensive (like the jetpack) so people will trade cash for gems, and gems for gold to buy it… all a big scam in my opinion.
I’d rather pay $15 a month to earn all content like other MMO’s then to pay $150 a month to it…
I tested those new boxes, complete rip off, 40 boxes gave me 1 shark tooth axe skin, 1 shoulder skin, 1 consumable forge and crafting table… so that’s all I got for 4,800 gems… which I could have traded for nearly 100g (but I don’t trade gems for gold, just cash for content like mini’s or weapon skins). Anet is really disgusting me, and letting me down compared to the original Guild Wars series… I feel a money grubbing marketer got a promotion.
Personally I don’t see an issue with it myself since there are currently like 29 achievements you can do, and another 5 or 6 that hasn’t came out yet… so in a sense it’s irrelievant, as far as your point on the honor or cheating, I can’t say that I really care or find it an issue. If it didn’t exist I wouldn’t cry, I would just do it the way it has to be done, I guess you can say this about any shortcut, like the Eternal Battleground JP, everyone does it… and apprently ANET doesn’t have a problem with it.
While surfing the achievement page on wikia, I noticed in the tips: section that it stated if you don’t earn a Living Story achievement when the event ends it will be removed off your list.
Is this true? I do not know…
What is the reason of this if it is true? Probably so people can’t get the achievments in the future like you’re asking… or because ANET doesn’t want people looking at achievements they can never earn again.
Crab Toss is pvp, so moving it to daily pvp category as optional achievement would solve all problems.
It wouldn’t solve anything, achievement seekers do those aswell, people are upset having to do the same one every day but it’s no different then having to win tournaments against premades if your playing alone (guess it’s why they removed it, to many people crying about it) I just dealt with it personally.
One of the things ANet has always been famous among their fans for is the ability for everyone to participate in events. Southsun Cove is no different, with players being up-leveled to 80. Which is great, if you have friends that aren’t 80 yet and don’t wish to rush.
However, the item for completing “Southsun Omelette Gourmand” requires you to be level 75.
If we were to finish all the achievements, and they were to keep the Omelette in their inventory, would they be able to complete that 25th achievement say… months from now when they hit 75 and thus get the backpack?
Yes, I would imagine that would work because I doubt they will actually REMOVE any items like that from your inventory. However… I read on wikia achievements in the Tips: that Living Story achievements that you don’t earn will be removed off the list so you don’t see them anymore. It might be because of reasons like this, or perhaps ANET doesn’t want you looking at achievements you potentionally can’t ever earn again. I just wanted to state this for the record, but of course I have no proof this is true as all my living story achievements are completed so can’t say
They won’t allow you to eat the omelette at all unless the food buffs scaled by level which I don’t see ANY food like that so the mechanic isn’t in the game. They would have to make some lower verisons instead and add them to the vendor.
yeah it doesn’t make any sense, they stated in the patch notes you could earn tonics, if it’s that rare perhaps there is a special one, they should inform players of new items, not keep them secret if there is one.
let’s not turn GW2 into RuneScape, think a whip would be a silly weapon in this game as much as the legendary bows that shoot rainbows out of a unicorn…
still wondering if anyone has earned a tonic as a reward from crab toss, I always get greens and karka shells and on the rare side a rare/exotic item.
