Druids! What are you thoughts/concerns?

I am worried that the Druids may not have an Elite called Stonehenge.
As I said earlier, Kryta is a mix of all things Western. And if mixing Asian cultures (which why they don’t include India is beyond me) is a bad thing, then why not just pick one? Like, only theme it after China?
Because the western world is not the same as the eastern world? Completely different cultures and such.
Mixing some culture doesn’t mean they have to mix every single culture. There are massive amounts of different cultures in that general area.
Because that was not how Cantha was back in the days, and it would be rather weird to suddenly revisit it with it being completely different (such as a whole other culture) from before?
Um, they were completely isolated for more than 100 years. A lot of change can happen in that time, especially if you draw parallels to the Meiji Restoration. Although, in this case it would be a reversal, huh?

Er, I use conjures all the time. But yeah, they could be improved.
I had a similar idea, that Conjures need some new or interesting traits. Though since then, the introduction of Masteries and Specializations could open the door for such features.
I hope they update the tooltip to reflect the actual damage the skill does.
It actually should be the other way around for once: update the damage to reflect the tooltip.
Keiran Thackeray did it first.
Um, I’m getting the feeling people responding don’t realize that in order to make up for the fire trail nerf (which needed to happen), the leaping strike was supposed to receive a significant damage buff – and it’s the failure to implement that damage buff that the OP is complaining about. As far as I can tell, all the programmers need to do is change one freaking value to update the skill so it does the appropriate damage, and they haven’t been bothered to do it for MONTHS.
Apparently, it WAS too much to hope.
Well, it may be premature, but in regard to new characters…
Embargo — LIFTED!
Actually, I lifted it last Saturday, but this is much more dramatic.
Now if only they would release school uniforms so I could lift my embargo on spending real money to purchase gems. I’ve had that in place since Dragon Bash.
God I love double Fractal daily days. All dem Agony infusions.
Subjectivity, how do you work?
Yes, as long as the Warrior and Guardian specializations doesn’t have a stupid name.
Shortbow Warrior specialization: Shorties
Polearm Guardian specialization: Spearits
Make the coats buyable for 3000 crests and only have them buyable after a successful Vinewrath. Boom, done. Not that difficult a concept. The chance of getting a coat from Vinewrath is so high (well, for me) that it honestly shouldn’t cause any harm to make them buyable. The worst that could happen is people who do it that way and end up doing Vinewrath more times may eventually end up having buyers’ remorse.
I’m far more accepting of change than at least 90% of players, but I’ve found that I’m included in the universal derision of the trait system.
When I first heard about the changes, I was all for it. It sounded like something similar to GW1, where you went around the world hunting specific bosses for their Elites. But the actual implementation was absolutely horrible. Almost none of the unlock conditions were at all related to the traits they unlocked, and considering they were all the same conditions for each class, any relation between unlock condition and trait seems to be strictly coincidental.
Unlocking early traits is especially unrewarding, ESPECIALLY to new players. Honestly, couldn’t you have at least kept half of the Adept traits unlocked automatically? The current system is not conducive to the kind of experimentation beginners need and reeks of this priority the designers have of “getting players to do more different things in the game.” Making an important structure of the game suffer just to make us “get up and do different things” is abhorrent.
A new player gets their second trait point at level 36. Let’s say we can live with that. This means they should start their trait experimenting at level 36. Now let’s look at what someone can reasonably unlock at level 36. That’s a total of 16 traits. Sounds good, right? But wait: at that tier, you only have access to traits I-VI, so let’s remove any traits higher than VI. That leaves you with 11 traits you can experiment with after unlocking them. Of those 11 traits, 3 are Edge of the Mists, 1 is completing the Obsidian Sanctum (the difficulty of which can vary WILDLY), 1 is a world boss that is prone to bugging, and 2 are group events. So a new player can only reasonably unlock and experiment with a whopping FOUR traits on their own as soon as they gain the ability to IF they don’t resort to buying guides.
Yes, it’s good to teach players to try new things. But it’s also good to present them with REASONABLE LEARNING CURVES and to PROMOTE EXPERIMENTATION AND DIVERSITY. The ridiculous trait unlock system practically encourages new players to pick and choose which traits they think will be useful and ignore the rest. It’s utterly counterproductive to build diversity and I won’t stand for that.
What fight are we talking about here? Is there some other fight I did not do yet I wonder.
Shadow of the Dragon fight, the boss fight of the last Living Story mission.
And lol, I’m sorry, but anyone who says anything along the lines of “I’m sorry I don’t have l33t skillz” is not going to be receiving any sympathy or convincing anyone. All of us who aren’t having problems with the fight aren’t bragging about how good we are. It REALLY IS a learn to play issue.
There’s nothing wrong with being casual. Casual gamers can observe patterns. Claiming you don’t have time to figure out that pattern? Proudly saying you don’t want anything resembling a challenge in your story instances (not even in the final episode of a season)? That’s not even a learn to play issue. That’s a learn to effort issue. That’s looking at ANY learning curve and thinking “nah, I like it down here at the bottom.”
To anyone claiming that the pattern can’t be counted on, that it isn’t “100%” or even reasonably close to it, chances are you got distracted by the plant bombs or the “bonus rocks.” But if you take a couple seconds to wait for the next attack, you should be seeing the pattern reassert itself. If not, I would very much like to see a recording and be proven wrong because that sounds like a bug. The only time something went wrong for me was when one of the Mordrem wolves that should have been outside the “arena” somehow made it inside.
Yup. I always find myself single-targeting Menders with autoattacks instead of going for my usual AoEs just for the laughs.
The pattern is definitely there. I even made a crappy video of it :P
Thanks for saving me the trouble, especially since I screwed up making my own video (mic problems).
Just because you don’t notice the pattern doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It’s especially hard to notice it when part of a group since you won’t be solely targeted by its attacks.
Braham will toss a protective shield onto the cogs periodically, which will grant you Stability if you’re a class that doesn’t have it. Beyond that, and assuming no sources of self-Stability, try to light the fire shortly after the dragon tries a paw attack. That should give you enough time to do it while the dragon does its other attacks.
Braham’s shield didn’t seem to have any stability effect. I was getting interrupted all the same even with it on.
Yeah, this seemed to be bugged. Hint to all elementalists: Take Arcane Shield, makes this part 100 times easier.
The dragon has two types of AoE attacks during that part. One of them is the paw slam, which stability does work on. The other is an arm thrust that launches you in the air even if you do have stability. You can block this attack, or you can dodge roll out of it; it’s easy to tell apart from the other attack since the orange warning indicator is MUCH smaller.
Just finished soloing all of its achievements, and it’s a pretty fun fight. At least it is for an Ele, though I don’t see it being all that different for other classes. It just might take longer to kill some things, increasing the chances of getting hit by a rock.
The achievements were frustrating, but in a fair way. I managed to get the fight down to an art, consistently downing it in about 5-7 mins. All it takes is some pattern recognition and decision making.
Nothing will ever be as hype as “Ascalon, I free you from this curse!”
…though that just brought expectations high for nothing. Maybe sticking to these boring generic trailers is a good thing.
Firestorm as it is now is weaker than the ice bow version. That can’t possibly be right for an ultimate. Ice bow has better range, better damage and cause bleed on top of it. Skill 5 is a joke.
Firestorm has 5s less cooldown, has practically no casting time, and can be cast while moving. Each of its fireballs can hit up to 10 targets. I’m not going to say it’s STRONGER than Ice Storm, but it’s a lot safer and more reliable in the kind of mob situations FGS shines in. Most of the time, Ice Bow is a liability once Ice Storm is on cooldown. It mostly shines against large single targets. FGS always has reliable DPS, and I squeeze every last drop of it out of the time I have it.
Yes, but the DPS is still not really better than my ordinary weapon skills is the problem and I will still prefer to go for ice bow AoW than FGS AoE. I can see why I can want to go for the ice bow in a given situation, but the FGS, apart from moving from A to B, not so much. That skill lacks any combat reasons to be picked. Yes, FGS #5 has advantages over ice storm but they are not weighting as much in the balance to me. There should be no ambiguity an elite is better than a non-elite.
Really? Lacking ANY combat reasons to be picked?
Yeah, we’re never gonna see eye to eye on this. I love FGS too much to even dignify that. The only complaints I have about FGS are the broken Fiery Rush (damage still hasn’t been updated despite what the skill tip says) and Fiery Eruption being almost completely pointless.
Is it too much to hope the first update of the new year will fix Fiery Rush? I’d like to have a non-bugged FGS 2015.

Lemme do a quick rundown of the things I personally agree/disagree with.
1. World Bosses, I prefer them the way they are now
2. Home Worlds, I don’t touch WvW much so I can’t comment here. I do like having people around to do events
3. Unlocking Traits, I agree with this one. I thought the point of leveling was to learn you class/build. Right now leveling just delays us from using our class.
4. Unlocking Skills, Honestly I think the new system might have some merits for actual new players. HOWEVER, I don’t see why it isn’t bypassed entirely when making alts.
5. Personal Story, I can’t really speak to this one as I almost always quit PS right before or after Claw Island.
6. Exploration, Yeah. If people can’t figure out how to feed a cow then I think GW2 is a bit above their level. I like the event tracker though.
7. Dailies, Still testing it. However I find it funny that they bother to have a cap at all. It would take 1500 daily completions to reach the daily AP cap of 15,000 from 0. Everyone who got comfortable when the cap was introduced and reduced their dailies to 5/6 a day is kicking themselves right now. The rewards were supposed to motivate us to do these things, but for a guy with 4mil karma and 8 level 80s, eh not really. You also forgot:
8. Outfits, The ability to wear them in combat is neat and I feel they are being used way more now. However, town clothes and mixing and matching bit the dust and many of the best skins have been converted to inflexible and undyeable tonics. Furthermore, with the introduction of outfits, it’s getting harder and harder to go back to mix’n’matchable armor as there is a noticeable gap in graphical quality.
If that helps at all.
Now this person I actually agree with.
I love the new system, but I also agree with the sentiment that they’re too specific. Instead of, say, “Daily Queensdale Events,” “Daily Kryta Events” would have been better. Just a little more freedom would have been great. Similarly, slaying the Jungle Wurm could have been expanded to any World Boss, or any World Boss of its tier (Svanir Shaman, Shadow Behemoth).
But I can EASILY live with the current specific goals. Why? Because it’s no different from Zaishen Missions in GW1. There were dungeons and story missions I absolutely HATED going to, but if I wanted the reward, I’d have no choice but to go or skip out until the next day.
I like conjures the way they are, only I wish they weren’t bundles. I don’t often bring Mist Form when I have Conjures on the same bar because I’ll lose my Conjure if I use it. And my guildies like it when I drop Conjures for them, so I wouldn’t want to take that aspect out either.
What I would like is more trait support. Like a trait that doubles the time and charges of your Conjures, but you don’t drop a second one. Or a trait that makes ALL Conjures do damage when they’re summoned (not just FGS). Or hell, just make that a feature of all Conjures and forget the trait part.
Fiery rush is still bugged. Should be eles biggest damage skill and do about same damage as auto attack.
Not enough people seem to have noticed this, and as a result not enough people are complaining about it. In order to make up for the fire trail nerf (which needed to happen) we were supposed to be compensated with a strong single damage strike on Fiery Rush. The skill tip damage has been updated, but the actual attack still does the pathetic old damage.
Just wanted to remind everyone: Fiery Rush still bugged.
I was dumb about it and couldn’t knock him out, but still managed to brute force my way through, because even with the shields he takes damage.
—But no need to mock people who have trouble.
True, but I feel it’s necessary to mock people who refuse to improve themselves and instead make demands that the game be easier instead.
I know for a fact this is the case for the last mission, not sure about earlier ones. If you bring a second (or more) players, they have their regular builds instead of the Caithe ones. I went in as an Ele to join a friend, and when I summoned my Lightning Hammer, nothing appeared in my hands, and I couldn’t pick up the weapon I summoned. Ditto for Fiery Greatsword.
I dunno if this extends to ALL bundles.
I just want to point out that it’s been a long 2 months+ of Fiery Rush being broken. I will keep this topic bumped for visibility for as long as it takes.
I really hope you’re not ignoring what SHOULD be an easy fix.
This is NOT a complaint about the fire trails. We were promised a stronger leap attack to make up for that, and we have not gotten it. The damage it does is nowhere close to the tooltip damage and may not even reach it on a crit in many cases.
I personally don’t mind, even if I know that greed is behind the decision.
My problem is all the people who have an uneven number of gems and have no way to use them. With the current “at least 400 gems or nothing” system, they’ll ALWAYS have gems to spare.
So, uh, hey… you have time to fix bugs that are hardly noticeable. I suppose changing a number so a skill does the damage it’s supposed to is much harder.
Got my hopes up when I saw profession skill fixes.
Well, a good thing is getting some feedback from the community, then I went ahead and made some polls xD
About changes with Personal Story: http://strawpoll.me/2568479
About the new content direction system: http://strawpoll.me/2569588
About taking away features from players based on their level: http://strawpoll.me/2569645
Poor ou bad.
I’d love to actually contribute some of my experience, but I’m honestly not entirely sure what is or is not intended, and I’m worried that “not working as intended” is code for “something we haven’t unnecessarily locked from you yet.” I mean, I was able to bring up the Inventory menu by pressing [I] even though no one told me how to do that. Is this an exploit?
Here’s an example of how terrible the damage is right now. For comparison, attacks generally do far more than their skill tip damage. This is the only skill I know of that actually does considerably less.
Fiery Greatsword is not a damaging elite anymore.
No, it’s always been a damaging elite, even without taking wallrush into account. I keep hearing otherwise from other players, but my experience has always been seeing a significant burst DPS increase.
The skill tip seems to follow what was said about buffing the skill’s strength by 150%, but the actual damage seems to be much, much lower. Like instead of increasing strength by 150%, it actually got cut to 50%.
They’re okay with breaking it between releases, but can’t be bothered to fix it the same way.
I consistently melee-range the Karka Queen as a full zerk Ele, and I always roll out of the way of its death roll and leaps, then laugh at all the downed people. Not sure why you can’t see its tells.
What are you guys even talking about? Did you play ANY game that had a decent story?
The Storytelling in this LS isnt even acceptable anymore: 98% of the story is delivered through boring dialogue and text, what absolutly kills the tension, the charakters are generic at best and have no depth whatsoever. The death of majories sister was just a joke.We didnt know anything about her, why should we care that she is dead? The game tried to make us feel with majory and failed completly doing so.
And to get the achievments, we have to repeat the story! This is the worst content recycling mechanic I have seen in years…
The update sshowed once again that A-net is incapable of delivering a story
They have created a great mmo, but the living story is disappointing at best!
>Disappointing at best
>People talking about how they love the LS
We get it, you don’t know how arguments work.
I agree, that’s pretty sick.
Belinda died wrapped by a huge tendril, and all her clothes are intact? ANet, you’re doing it wrong.
Trahearne definitely has at least an indirect part in the story, and I think there’s plenty of potential for him to have a role. Of course, that all depends on execution, but that’s a given.
And lol at people STILL propagating the false belief that Trahearne steals the spotlight and “credit” from the character.
Well, LS2 must be a success if all the crying about the release is about something as insignificant as jumps.
And no, I am perfectly aware of your situation and can imagine it. I’ve had conversations with blind gamers who aren’t content with the fact that they impressively manage to play fighting games well and complain when user interfaces are difficult for them to navigate through. It’s unfortunate, but it’s a nonfactor that no company should be expected to address. Unless they’re specifically making games for less functional gamers.
You people rush your content too much. It’s like complaining that you beat a Sonic game in one day.
It took 3 hours to get 95% of the AP that is not rushing content at all. This was the most pathetic Living Story and for it being the start of Season 2 its hilarious. GG wait 2 weeks relog.
I think you’re in the minority with that opinion.
Don’t get me wrong the zone is awesome and I love it but the little amount of stuff you can truly do there that you can’t do elsewhere for either more money or more enjoyment is quite sad. And 3 hours for content that is supposed to last 2 weeks especially it being the first of Season 2 is down right pathetic like I said. I am not in the minority go look at reddit or other forums people are raging at the lack of content.
….Because it’s just the beginning of the season 2 maybe? I wasn’t even expecting a new zone tbh. Just be happy with what you have for once and play something else in the mean time.
Except that having content so hyped and having it last for less then a day when no patch or update for two weeks. This is unacceptable there is no defending this. Though I guess I should be used to being let down by Arenanet.
This is literally no different than the rest of the LS releases. See you in two weeks.
The vendors require Geodes for everything.
Even the simple things like salvage kits, which is just absurd.
I’ve read through all of this thread, and I’m still smh at “forced jumping puzzle.” It’s not complicated at all to get to the LS areas. I’m sorry that you can’t make such simple jumps, and I think you must have struggled greatly with all the other content the game had to offer up to now.
this game seems to be dead.
Only if you’re blind or a compulsive liar.
Was anyone else bothered by Ceara apparently being behind Steam Creatures? I thought they were invented by the alternate Infinity Ball creator.
Please tell me she just made her own Steam Creatures based on the original design because that… no. Just no.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again for as long as I have to:
School Uniforms.
I don’t care if they’re tonics now, just implement them. You already went through the trouble of making the skins, so you might as well profit. Also, I promised I would never spend any real money on gems until you released the uniforms. That was nearly a year ago, and my embargo remains in place to this day.
