Eh, I loved the LS and everything about it, concept-wise.

As far as I’m concerned, the primary fault people have against it (that I agree on) is the inability to revisit events. Thing is, Personal Story ALSO had this fault, and I’ll agree that I have no clue why the option to revisit history is something ANet seems to dislike.

The primary reason we can’t revisit most of LS is because of the sheer scale of the events and the amount of players needed. This could easily be addressed by creating downscaled / simplified versions that give you an idea of what it was like. Just remove the rewards so the people who actually were a part of it still come out on top while not screwing other players out of the experience.

Whatever other flaws there are in LS pretty much amount to laziness in programming, like the inevitable first-day bugs, or the utter silliness of Lion’s Arch being wrecked in Personal Story just because someone forgot to keep an old version of the LA map to redirect into.

Well, that and it’s utterly stupid to make scale balancing part of an event’s strategy. NO ONE likes organizing a map so only a specific amount of players are in a certain area so the enemies don’t magically gain an unfeasible amount of health and strength.

Really hoping for a new round of arena encounters.

Vs. Scarlet
Vs. Logan
Vs. Trahearne
Vs. Kasmeer & Marjory
Vs. Braham, Taimi, Rox & Frostbite
Vs. Yourself

I agree that some form of separate instancing needs to happen, but I also like the spectator aspect of the arena, and I like that there’s the option to farm to kill time during your queue. There needs to be some kind of middle ground or option to streamline entering the arena if a player is only interested in the arena.

It’s a bad system to fix something that wasn’t broken.

thing is, megaservers broke it.

Ideally, they would have come up with some unified systems for spawning events throughout all maps that didnt suck, but that would have been a lot of work, so we get timers, because its easy.
Unfortunately direct timers on a train schedule is not that entertaining, Dynamic events have now become a bus schedule, with people waiting around for the 7:45 flight to Fire elemental.

And I very much prefer it that way. I hated the random nature of time windows and being a slave to whoever’s leading the train.

About the only problem I have with Megaservers is that it isn’t quite autosorting players the way I thought they would. There were four members of my guild up at the same time, and we decided to go to Shatterer. Two of us ended up in one instance and the other two ended up in another instance. We were easily able to join in on the same instance once we partied up, but I would’ve figured people in the same guild would automatically end up in the same instance.

Also, I usually end up in maps filled with TC, JQ and SoS. I’m from Maguuma. What gives?

The schedule is actually pretty solid. It just wasn’t worded properly by Anet, but if you look at Dulfy, you can see tables for exactly when each boss will be up. You don’t need anything special – just the schedule.

Current system is great. Sure, you can’t run a “full boss train” anymore, but with the exception of a few gaps (caused by fields not being in Megaserver yet) I’ve been able to hop on and join in on a world boss any time I want and move on to the next one at approximately the same pace as before with zero risk of missing a boss. The only problem is the rare spawns that might not go up at a convenient time.

I personally don’t see that as any different from how it was before. I’m on a server that did a regular boss train from reset to about three or four hours later, hitting whatever world bosses were up. There was no telling when exactly the train would attack Karka Queen, and it was entirely possible for another group to beat KQ while the main train was busy with other bosses. And if I missed that encounter, I was pretty much out of luck until the next day. At least with the current system, it’s predictable WHEN people will be attacking Karka Queen or any other world boss, and success rates are high throughout the day.

Plus, I love that the new system actually encourages people to do the pre events.

Would you rather have a fast train that only operates on peak hours, or a slightly slower train that operates 24/7?

I’m seriously reading all these complaints and thinking to myself “please ANet don’t backpedal on this issue and ruin this for me.” I was promised a schedule, and I’m expecting you to live up to that promise.

They kitten well better backpedal, and they need to backpedal so hard they cough up concessions to the system. I dont care about guilds being able to spawn teq, wurm, and kq whenever they want. Large community based guilds get the shaft still. As someone aptly put it, smaller guilds CAN do the research as they’re on a SINGLE SERVER, but dont have the numbers. So they dont do the research. Massive guilds HAVE the numbers, but they’re so spread out on servers, they CANT do the research. Unless that spawning item can be bought with commendations, they’re basically telling guilds on multiple servers “we dont want your kind here.” Further than that, they back up that information even more with the fact that upgrades and influence pools STILL arent even a priority.

It’s not the schedule such guilds take issue with, as with the megaserver, it’s going to be a necessity. It’s the fact that they made an arbitrary choice of when the schedule happens with total disregard to the players’ collective desires. Yes, there are certain times wurm and teq are never fought, as well as times that it’s always fought and almost always beaten. But you dont shove a big “kitten you” at multi-server/guild communities and tell them the fixes they want are still months away AT BEST.

So is your big problem the specific schedule they say isn’t set in stone? Because nothing you’re complaining about sounds like something that’s the result of the idea of a schedule. The Megaserver? I absolutely refuse to make judgments of how that’s going to affect the community when we haven’t seen it in action, and they said they were starting with 1-15 areas first before rolling it out to higher level areas. Sounds like a good place to start. I highly doubt anything cataclysmic will come of it.

And what are these “massive” guilds that don’t have the influence and merits to research? If you’re talking about coalition guilds that are just an alliance of different guilds banding together, there’s nothing stopping them from assigning one of the smaller guilds that form the coalition to make the boss spawns and trigger them, and maybe rotating this responsibility around. I highly doubt there’s going to be a giant coalition guild that doesn’t have the tools necessary to make boss spawns AND doesn’t consist of at least one guild with that capability. And if they DO exist… well, I don’t know what to say. That just sounds illogical.

One of the few valid concerns I’ve seen that I actually agree on is the “always contested” waypoints. Would it be so difficult to make such waypoints “potentially contested,” so if a player tries to waypoint there, it checks to see if a version of that waypoint is open, and if it isn’t, return a report saying that it is contested? I imagine it shouldn’t be any more difficult than WvW queuing.

On the schedule:…

You’re either missing or not addressing what people are saying: that we don’t want to play on a schedule, regardless of what that schedule is. While the current setup may not be optimal in a lot of ways, it’s better than the train schedule that you’ve proposed. This isn’t about “I’m going to miss this or that”, it’s about being constrained to a very artificial limitation you’re implementing. This does have ramifications about missing things, but that’s not really the point.

At the end of the day, a strict schedule makes the game less fun for a lot of players.

On the other hand, a lot of players prefer having a schedule to plan around, and this may help eliminate the current situation where the world boss zerg takes out bosses for a couple hours after reset, and everyone who misses the train is out of luck because no one is taking on events for the remaining 20 hours.

But there’s nothing preventing people from getting a group together and doing those bosses under the current system. Yes, the Boss train is the most efficient way of doing those events (arguably not the most fun), but under the current system, most of the bosses or the pre-events are up a lot more than they will be after the proposed system. Two nights ago I helped kill Shatterer at about 1am server time. There were about 15-20 people there (several leaked in after we started). It was an epic, fun fight, down to the wire. Just because you miss the train doesn’t mean you missed the boss under the current system.

Also, world bosses scale quite well to smaller parties. Golem and several others are actually soloable if you have a bit of experience with them, and outside of Temples, most are doable by 5 or 10 people. In short, the proposed schedule is a huge step backwards to scheduling, by removing many chances to organize a group to go kill bosses. As it stands, once the system goes into effect, if you’re not on for an attempt, you’ve missed it. Under the current system, you can go back in an hour or so and give it another go.

Under the current system I “can,” go back in an hour or so, but I probably won’t, either because I missed all the players with an interest in it, or I myself have to be gone in an hour anyway. Most of the time for me, “missed” is “missed.” I usually only hit what I can within a 2-hour window after reset anyway, so this isn’t going to change for me. But I like knowing when exactly a specific boss will be up (goodbye windows!), and that I have the option of logging on for just 15 minutes to take on a specific boss and KNOWING there’s going to be likeminded people hitting that boss.

Are there really that many people who enjoy organizing small parties to take on a world boss that just happens to be up right now and isn’t being fought by a large group?

You know you say the schedule is not set in stone, but I still get kittened by it either way. Working overnights, only playing early in the morning. I have no option here because i’m not the majority and can’t play anywhere near primetime, yet you know i’d still like to play the game.

Just out of curiosity, how many world bosses are you hitting on average in your window? I’m not saying you don’t matter, or can’t be accommodated, but it doesn’t seem like you would be hitting a lot of them even now.

I don’t presume to speak for the person you quoted, but that number isn’t important. Even someone who only has time for 1 boss per day could hit another boss every day, instead of being completely locked out of a lot of them and doing the same choice of 2 or 3 every time.

Well, the poster wasn’t very specific about what the problem would be, just that it would end up with “no option” regardless of what the schedule is. I don’t get the impression that it’s a variety issue, since that could easily be fixed with a schedule that changes daily or a sliding schedule.

Why limit us to only one boss being up at 15 minute intervals? What if they set it up so 2-3 zone bosses could spawn at specific times – ie, Shadow Behemoth, Dredge Commissioner and Shatterer all spawn at 6PM; Maw, Golem, and Covington spawn at 6:15, etc. It’s still on a set cycle with bosses spawning every 15 minutes – but offers more flexibility to the players. They could put different bosses on different respawn timers so it’s not always the same 3 bosses paired together – and the timing could be set so the boss isn’t always at the same time each day (one day SB is at 6PM, the next day he’s at 7PM, the next he’s at 6:30PM, etc.). The bosses would by necessity spawn more frequently, and it would give those with limited play time a choice of which boss to attack rather than only seeing the same few bosses each time.

Glad to see someone with constructive criticism for a change.

On my end, it seems like you’re making node farming much more of a chore for no reason, and to make up for it something needs to change in the node farming system. For instance, Orichalcum and Ancient nodes and Rich nodes can only be harvested once a day per character, and I’ve made my bed with that. Under the megaserver system, node locations have the potential to be reset multiple times a day, making it potentially that much more annoying to harvest the same nodes on different characters.

Potential fixes to make up for this:

1. Have ALL nodes show up on the minimap, not just nodes within a certain vicinity of the player.

2. Introduce a “rare resource detector” that makes it easier to locate rich, ori, and ancient nodes.

3. Resource Vanquishing. Introduce a daily reward (it can be character or account limited depending on the reward) for harvesting every resource node in a given map. This has the added benefit of giving players an incentive to return to and explore maps that they otherwise would have gone through once to map complete, and then never touch again. And because of the location of certain resource nodes, it could take them to locations they never touched before because they weren’t necessary for map completion.

My only concern about this is how it will affect farming nodes. I like seeking out node locations and establishing a farming route. This tends to get scrambled frequently after updates because of how often bugs need to be fixed with new content, but otherwise it’s fairly stable. I don’t want to have to deal with all-new node locations practically every day, if not more frequently.

GW1 is still going 8 years after release, some MMO’s are breaking 15 years. This is going to suck after a while just relying on the Living Story for your AP points after you’ve completed all the permanent ones and the daily/monthly.

I’m tired of limitations being placed on my play time and MY enjoyment. I don’t care about any of you and what you consider ‘fun’. I log on to do dailies and a couple world events and for living story releases. Occasionally for farming to maybe one day casually get an ascended something-or-other. I’m not an AP farmer but I’m 1/3 of the way to my daily max in 1.5 years(which is wrong since they introduced it long after release), have half of the permanent ones, and at least half the living story ones.

OtakuDFifty.2965

I’m OK with the signet. Not sure if I’d say “happy,” but it’s been pretty functional, and I don’t regret buying and equipping it. SoV is a perfect match for my build, but I’m VERY fringe. But it could be better, and thus, more appealing for, well, “normal” players.

Keep in mind, I’m a primarily PvE player, and I’ve noticed that on the class boards, the only way I can make sense of what other people are talking about is to assume they’re looking at things from a PvP standpoint. My main is also an Ele (that had a 30 Fire, 0 Arcana build from the start), so Necro is just an alt I like tooling around with for fun, and I’ve had the most fun turning her into a support healer. In short, I think outside the box and have fun, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to actual effectiveness.

If the goal is to open up new opportunities for less used builds, I’m happy… but mission not a success because people would rather stick to what they know, and SoV isn’t appealing enough on its own to draw in anyone other than, well, folks like me.

The ICD is more annoying than I thought it would be, as it’s sometimes a struggle just to get 4 stacks off. I have managed to get 5 stacks off on rare occasions, but those required setting a siphoning well before using SoV. This makes it nearly impossible to get more than 20 stacks off in a normal party. It’s unfeasible to expect everyone to use an AoE so we can always make full use of an SoV spike.

There is NO reason to have an ICD when you have a stack limit. A stack limit makes sense. With no stack limit, a handful of SoVs could down a world boss in seconds. But the ICD? You already capped its potential. Even if a Necro manages to take off all 25 stacks by itself (possible by using multiple siphoning wells and rapid attacks), what’s the payoff? The damage it would do to one target wouldn’t be game-breaking, and while the healing would be significant (almost guaranteed to heal anyone to full unless they have a very high health pool and was close to death), why wouldn’t that be a just reward? Warrior and Guardian both have healing skills that can heal for a significant amount in the right circumstances.

I would actually be fine with an active 0.6s ICD. And remember, I’m probably the only person on this forum that likes SoV (or rather, I like the idea of SoV). It’s at least a reasonable window for a party of 5 to use up all stacks. Heck, I’d be okay with keeping the 1s ICD as long as pets and minions could also use up stacks. It’s the fact that using SoV to its full potential is unfeasible in the average party that confounds me.

The only possible reason I can see for having an active ICD is in the interest of fairness with group healing. With no ICD, an ally hitting the marked target with more rapid attacks will get a majority of the healing, while allies with slower attacks will get less. In short, it would create a unique scenario of “heal stealing” from those who might need it more. Which is why, again, I would suggest a shorter ICD of AT MOST0.6s.

The passive, again, I’m totally okay with. It’s on by far the lowest-recharge signet Necros have, and it’s still a more useful passive than Signet of Undeath. No problems with ICD there, but the healing should either scale more with healing power or be a siphon like it originally was.

People have already talked at great length about what they hate about this skill, but I think feedback from someone who actually kinda likes it would be more constructive than worthless comments like “don’t bring it or you die,” “I want a refund,” and “we didn’t get a heal.”

If you ever stop facing directly at your enemy while casting it, it doesn’t land. Definitely a bug. Dunno if it doesn’t work on downed enemies, but I had that problem with toxic alliance enemies, so that could be the case.

They already know it and have said they are replacing it, keep up.

Oh thank gawd. This is the only trait I ever wished I could turn off.

It’s been pretty OK for me (not groundbreaking, but not the utter disaster people love to claim it is) but I run a siphon build anyway.

It is without a doubt overpriced, however. This needs to cost only 3sp.

Finally managed to try it out myself. I was worried about how poorly it would scale with my healing power, but wow… It’s like it doesn’t scale AT ALL.

Still, after spending some time roaming around Orr, the passive isn’t too bad, at least as long as I’m not unreasonably outnumbered. It negates a reasonable number of attacks from trash Risen.

Active has some problems (not already covered by posters here), since on more than one occasion it failed to place a mark on my enemy, and not because of problems like line of sight, out of range, evasion, or block… it just plain didn’t mark. You have to be facing the enemy at all times in order for the mark to be successful, or it fails. I do like how often I can cast it though. It works best as something to keep you topped off rather than an emergency heal. I have yet to see how well it works in a dungeon or fractals situation.
