Edit: This never happened to me before, the only problem I had was it wouldn’t hit people even if in range. Say I used it and then they continued running, it would hit where they used to be. But I use it as an Immobilize / gap closer. Maybe I am trying to use the keys to fast and it just doesn’t want to respond. At first I thought it was lag, but then it happened again, and again, and again.
They broke Magnetic Grasp. You sit in mid-air for several seconds like RTL.
Congratulations, Magnetic Grasp is now broken… You use it, sit in mid-air for several seconds until you are hit before can do anything. Hoozah!
Edit: I tested it 10x in row vs Svanir in sPvP setup.
Possibly in about 24 hours it hopefully will be fixed… Big Halloween patch coming!

Dont get me wrong, 1 v 1 I can kill most thieves… Only the good ones who dont spam heartseeker, or death blossom thing can get me. After Heartseeker and PW nerf, its backstab / assassins signet thieves that 1 – 4 shot me. I mean when they use signet + backstab for about 15k dmg in 1 hit, thats crazy. Mesmers out condition damage me, and they dont even spec for it, that I do not understand. I have 1469 condition damage and 19 – 20k health with 2100 armor.
Any news to eles in toughness gear getting 2-shotted by warriors?

As a full out condition / toughness build I still get 2 – 4 shotted by Thieves. I have almost 20k life, and they just backstab 7-10k, Cloak and Dagger is another 4 – 10k, followed by, oh wait, another backstab! Downed, then i just wait to die. I was checking the combat logs and I this is what I see…

Let us not forget Mesmers, they are a freaking joke. Elementalist need love. End of Story. Till then I think I am done trying. I waited so long for this game and was so excited to be able to play Elementalist, but it is honestly the worst class out there. Even in low levels you can tell this. After working from 1 – 80 on my ele, I recently made 1 of each other class just to try it. In first 20 levels I probably been downed 1 or 2 times, and maybe died once, only because I got crazy and tried taking level 20 something monsters at Level 11. But still almost won. Big difference in survivability, even when you spec for it on an Ele. PATHETIC. And don’t tell me to L2P because I know the class and have tried almost every build. The point is, we still drop like flies specced for Defense, and the other classes can spec cannon and still out live us.

I hate how all our speed traits fail or don’t even work. Ride the Lightning, and overall base damage. I know that we can be tough, but unless we all start cloning Daphoenix’s build which ANet says they are watching… It would just get boring. I like choices. My ele is full condition spec, and a mesmer without speccing / gearing this way out Condition damaged me. Its really sad.
On the other hand, I cannot wait to see the update to Ele when they patch on the 22nd! Hopefully some nice changes.
I think the problem with the Elementalist is that it was the first character revealed, so it did not get as much attention as future classes? Maybe?
Or you may be color blind? Ever been tested?

Im not color blind and I have a hard time seeing them. Also several post regarding color blind players having a hard time seeing them.
He gets condition damage from his toughness / earth trait line, one of his weapons, etc.
^_^ if my laptop could handle fraps + WvW or PvP I would record some videos for you. However, with recent changes to the game, my performance went from being able to run max settings to performance mode. Don’t know what they changed from BWE3 but it surely changed the FPS I was getting.
I’m assuming you are talking about Daphoenix’s WvW videos. He has a nice Power / Tough / Vit mixture. So he does decent damage with Dual Daggers + Survivability using his skills correctly.
I use a build similar to this, but my initial damage is not as good as I went for condition build. So far, I am liking it but it is not as survivable as Daphoenix’s. I feel it is this way because even when other professions are not speccing for condition damage, they are doing more than me. For instance, with 1400 condition damage in Orr, a mesmer who was not even condition spec was doing more burn damage than me, causing me to not even get credit on most kills. I ended up just using bleeds. On a side note, in PvP I can use Sigil of Battle for might stack + On Swap weapon sigils. However when I tried this in PvE the on swap weapon sigils were not working (i.e. Poison on next hit after swapping to weapon).
I can do pretty well, but get a mesmer + thief on me at same time, im screwed. The amount of conditions / confusion they can stack combined with the thiefs annoying 5 – 14k dmg every 2 seconds is just to much to live through. Manage to get Mesmer down, but thief on your back next thing u know boom 5.5k from illusionary rogue, and downed. Once downed i just give up as an Ele, looking for that AutoKillMeNow_Button
Just an idea I had while sitting here debating whether or not to login to GW2 given the broken state of my Ele…
What if the Conjure skills spawned “Elemental” weapons instead of being locked to a specific attunement? Say, you could spawn a Bow, but instead of it being the Frost Bow with its limited 5 attacks, have it change elements when you change attunements, becoming a flame bow, or a lightning bow, etc? I think that would be an awesome upgrade to our currently mostly harmless Conjured weapons. Just a thought, discuss. And please, no flaming about how many more skills that would give us. Yes, it would give us more skills. Considering the 20 we already have with any particular weapon set have only… 5-10 actually useful skills, if that… (I’m looking at you, direct damage staff >.>) It would add some interesting flavor and possible new options.
It would definitely need to keep its charge system and duration, though. Just putting that out there.

Reported this about a month ago. The bombs have an endless respawn. You can sit there and pick them up and they never run out. I thought it was linked to the super-fast respawn rates of monsters (a bug a while back). But seems to still be a problem
Ele #3 puts in a lower downed state like we revived and were downed again thus killing us faster.
usually his other clones are still alive hitting u as well, plus he summons a freaking downed clone too…
Seriously ArenaNet??? My #2 does 50 – 200 dmg. I am a full defense / condition build with 18k life in sPvP. I get a mesmer downed and he summons an illusionary rogue which then hits me for 5.5k a hit? Seriously??? Why is another cloth wearing caster can build for massive damage and still has more survivability? I really hope you are re-working the Elementalist, as I do not want to play another class. It was the first class you revealed and seems to be the one you spent the least time on.
Until some balancing is done, I will be forced to try an alt. Ugh

A full glass cannon thief can live. Even as full toughness on an ele oir dmg sux and we get little survivability from it. Again ur comparisons fail.

PS: Learn to play an elementalist properly. They have the BEST escape tools for WvW (glass cannon or not makes no difference). Also, a properly played elementalist has more survivability and utility than a thief trying to stealth and run any day of the week. It really makes me sad that so many people fail at playing elementalist in this game.
ok first of all, I never said nerf thief, I am all against nerfing. My point was u posted a defensively specced ele as proof elementalist have more survivability. Yet ur whole argument is not to nerf a cannon build. Of course a defensive spec ele is going to survive a lil longer. But we have to spec defensively. Ur survivabilty as thief comes from using ur initiative and stealth correctly, not from limiting urself to a certain build. Sorry if I make u mad but calm down and actually read what Im saying before raging. I never wanted a nerf. Also sorry if typos sending this from phone. On a side note took a level 4 thief to WvW using shortbow #5 is like having 3 lightning flashes in row + stealth to remove target from myself. Thats a hell of a survivability even at level 4.

I have found this to be true with the scepter, it has a tediously long animation, making scepters currently not as good in WvW. When every class can mass attack / condition stack with super fast animations, we are stuck waiting for that slow animation to hit. Like the fire #1… it takes literally 4 – 5 seconds for the dmg to hit and burn to land. During that time, I have been hit (besides when I dodge) roughly 15 times.
I recently have gotten my Level 80 Elementalist some gear. Missing trinkets / back item + exotic weapons. Besides that, I can now take out about 3 – 4 people at once in WvW**
However, we are still in need of some work. I for one would love to see exotic weapons / trinkets with the same stats as some of the dungeon gear. I cannot find a Toughness, Precision, Condition (main) trinket for the life of me.
**Depending on how good they are, my cooldowns, and how much damage they do.

I stick with my ele….but every time i`m in that downed state i am wishing i had a button to just kill my character instead of being so helpless. Oh yes and every time i do those wvw puzzles in the borderlands i am wondering why my class is the only one not to reduce fall damage.
You have one, it’s called Mist Form (3rd button while downed) It will kill you just as fast as the mobs will because it counts as being downed again each time u use it. Lol
Well GG all, time to quit my Ele and roll something else. Wishing for some love, and got another nerf. Wish they would post what their plans are for the class. First one introduced, and worst class of all. Why Anet? Why?
Elementalist seriously need some love… If we go power house build (cannon) then we do around 1 – 3k dmg, but die in 1 or 2 hits. If we go tank / condition build, we still die in 1 – 4 hits and do crap for damage. When can we expect some love. Level 80 Ele with 30 Earth and decent gear (not fully geared yet but not bad either) died in 4 hits to a thief tonight. He did 6.5k 1 hit, 5k 2nd hit, 6k 3rd hit, and 4k to finish me off. Wth? I couldnt even out run him… Ride the lightning, Mist form, Lightning flashed as far as i could get, but he just did a double teleport thing plus 20% movement speed from his signet thing. Ele’s cant run this fast and we are the squishiest!
Not to mention he is in full CoF gear from the looks of the screenshots… Meaning he probably got them before all the DR and nerfs

Chalice.1280 you are correct sir. The problem is the endless spawning of the bombs. I noticed this a few days ago as the constant sparkle of them seems to just overlap each-other. I am curious as they have been having a Respawn rate bug, where monsters are rapidly respawning. Maybe this bug is ALSO Effecting the Respawn rate on these items??? ANet may want to take a look at that.
I never said condition damage is bad…its pretty good actually…its the ease of obtaining gear for your character.
Want to get some power tanky healing gear? Just craft up some Cleric’s gear.
Want to get some condition tanky healing gear?…..yep…
Want to make some power glass cannon MF gear? craft some Explorer’s
Want to make some condition class cannon MF gear?…yep…
Want to make any piece of jewelry that doesn’t have power on it?…ha….
Lets go to WvW and break down the walls so we can capture the fort! Let me just buy this battering ram while the warrior just needs some 100b action.
Condition builds are strong but its difficult to find gear that is built around condition damage. Considering that every single piece of jewelry has power on it, I assume the game designers intended that every single class utilize power in some way.
Then again…why give engineers the pistol anyway? It scales horribly with power and every single skill utilizes a condition.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_EarthOnly Rampager’s gear gives precision and condition damage, so if you are an Engineer for example that chooses to use condition damage…you are forced to wear Rampager’s. You are forced to be a glass cannon. You are forced to have power in your stats even though you do not need it. Wear another set of gear, become more tanky, have your low crit rate so that all your traits and sigils become borderline useless. Then just keep in mind that power build that does not need to sacrifice anything in order to be strong.
Have you checked out the Nightmare Gear for Twilight Arbor (think thats the name usually just call it TA) Dungeon? The pieces I am working on getting are Precision, Toughness, Condition > with Condition being main focus on each piece of armor. Once I get these I will add in Superior Runes of the Undead for the Toughness / Condition Dmg bonus and 6 piece bonus (5% of toughness becomes condition damage). As for my Accessories, I plan on finding some with power, vit, and condition. This will allow me to raise my base power for a little tougher nukes, and higher health, while also increasing my Damage over Time (DoT). You can view the stats and stuff of this armor in Lions Arch. Just hit Hero Panel > PvP > Into the Mist, then run through the Lions Arch gate. The merchants for each dungeon are right there.

ok, when in the game, start in any other attunement and hit H -(Hero panel) Look at your toughness… Now switch to Earth, the green numbers (if any) should change. Same for Gain toughness while channeling a skill trait.
That’s ok, Signet of Fire has a 1200 range but if u are using a scepter it is limited to 900 range. Lol
My guildies were in there tonight, so they must have fixed it.
Okay before I begin this post, I do not know if this is a bug but more of an observation… When in combat EVERYONE is slowed down by a massive amount. Yet in both WvW and sPvP, when attacking an engineer he can pop something and be SUPER FAST… This allows them to run away 90% of the time, while everyone attacking is super slowed. The only thing I see on them is that stupid vigor, might, swiftness, fury crap that never goes away on them.
So the question is, are Engineer’s supposed to be able to use swiftness in combat while other professions swiftness doesn’t work in combat?
My problem with Ele is the slow cast speeds on all but daggers. Ride the Lightning annoys me to death, it used to work FINE. What happened? Not to mention as a full glass cannon 30 fire 30 air, i am doing 1 – 1.5k in WvW where a warrior with a bow does 6.5k with arcing arrow? Changing spec to have 30 Earth made my ability to live a little better, but it’s still rough. Was playing Ascalon Catacombs today and was being hit for half life (1.5k) (scaled down to level 30) in 1 hit. While my dmg scaled down was a mere 100 – 200 dmg, my grp mates were doing a lot more, a whole lot quicker. By the time I had 1 or 2 Auto attacks off (fire scepter) the mobs were dead.
I would love to hear more info about the Ele, as it was the first class they announced for Guild Wars 2. I was hoping it would also of had a lot of work put into it.
I keep hoping that as I level and get better gear, I will become more powerful… It hasn’t happened. I actually seem to do less damage the higher I get fighting mobs my level. It is very discouraging… I think I may roll an alt just to try and like this game again.
On a side note, played Ele in Beta and they were awesome, so wtf happened between beta’s and launch, we got a major nerf bat?
Very disappointed with Elementalist, level 63 and still die in 1 hit. Average dmg with D/D (level 60 Rare daggers) vs same level mobs, damage just does not add up. When I see someone dropping 10000 damage in the amount of time I drop 500 damage is sad.
As a D/D Ele, here is a fun combo… Air #4 Air #5, Fire #3 Fire #4 (If targets burning Follow with #5 Awesome dmg, if not go to Earth and then combo the fire field for a Might stack) Earth # 4 (knockdown) If safe follow with Earth #5 (5 second cast time). Also, on your daggers, get a sigil of stamina… These are AMAZING… I never have to worry about Endurance to Dodge. (Full endurance after each kill). If you use
Mist form + Ether Renewal (Cure a condition with each pulse) 15 second cooldown. Pretty awesome, crappy heal. But if you can get used to when to use it, you can solo the fire ele world boss in Asura beginning zone. (Use a scepter / dagger for this at Fire Ele battle – More heals / defense, stay in water / lightning for blind and stuff)
Besides that, as a D/D Ele I find damage complete crap compared to other classes. Although single target damage of a 30 fire 30 air 10 arcane Scepter/Dagger ele Burst damage is amazing. But bad for PvE.
As an Elementalist I personally use +Speed and +Power, these work great together as a D/D Ele. It makes me hit harder and I can run away after killing one if need be!
UPDATE::: This was fixed by them Re-Sending the Mail… I suggest not deleting mail till after you are done with that part. Thanks ANet!

My personal story is stuck, I have just finished the step before this, and received an in-game mail telling me to meet in Lions Arch near Argo sewers (The lion statue), I deleted the mail as I don’t like clutter, and then proceeded to the next step… Upon arriving at the green marker on my map and searching all over, the Instance is NOT there. I checked in the sewers and all around. After youtubing the story, I see it is indeed by the lion, but mine just is not there. Please help me!

Agree with Shelv… If they want to talk balance, look at Engineer unlimited Fury, Might, Swiftness, Vigor because 0 cooldown on kits.
Staff for area, or D/D if you are good with them. Also, Earth Elemental (Lesser and Elite skills) are tough cookies, and take some aggro. Usually can have a Lesser Earth Ele up for awhile.
Well I have tested it in several situations, and it only seemed to revive defeated npcs for me… This skill was broken since BWE 1 when I reported it back then. Seems they are ignoring this skill… Why, I do not know
Hope to see a fix soon, as I am a friendly person who likes reviving 3 players who are defeated to get them back into the fray!
