What is being done to the players / guilds purposely abusing this… As seen in the video they purposely were teleporting in and checking for enemies to see if they were going to be caught exploiting.

First of all, a big thank you from my side as well.

I just wanted to give you some feedback on your poll. As other users on reddit have already mentioned, a lot of the “no” votes are actually “yes keep it, but it still needs some rework” – that should have voted “yes” instead. There is also a 15% fraction that only wanted to see the results. I dont think they should be counted towards the 75% limit.

You may also want to consider more fine tuning the poll options like:

- Absolutely great, dont change a thing
- Its a very good start, but it needs some fine tuning
- Remove it, unless major changes are implemented
- Scrap it entirely
- Don’t care
- See the results (without voting)

because currently the wording of the poll goes too much into the extremes. From the current wording it even seems that you should vote “no” if you think it could use a rework.

Then again, I hope the reward tracks will stay. I think its the best addition since a long long time.

As somebody has mentioned earlier we really need a reward track to obtain the mistforged weapon skins. You really have an awesome collection of weapon skins there (I really like the shiny metal look with the subtly white mist) but there is currently no way to get them.

I agree they need better polling options, because I absolutely WANT rewards, but think they need work to stop afking/ lazy exploitative game play to keep the game fun so that has to be a no vote when I by no means want to have rewards taken out. ( I <3 my LOOOT) ALSO.. yea, tbh I do not like/ want any of the current reward tracks and already have this stuff under PvP .. would be better if you could have more/ better options.. and ALSO more things that were not account bound would be nice. It is waste to repeat reward tracks when you already have this stuff so you are not really being rewarded equally anymore. MORE options pls.

The current reward tracks are similar to PvP because some players only play WvW… This allows them to earn the same rewards as sPvP and PvE players, to an extent of course. I also agree that some WvW only stuff should be implemented. I played 3 years without getting an ascended armor or weapon chest, while a sPvP player who played 3 months had a full suit of ascended only from sPvP… So I am hoping my odds will finally be in my favor with these WvW Reward tracks.

Hey all greetings, i’ve started this game at first when it came out for some time later after my necro dinged to 80 i didnt feel the game to play further so i took a break.
That break took more than a year, now ive see some HoT videos and i was like wauw maybe i should give it a try again.
Went back to GW2 site downloaded the client and started playing, but he like always when you take a break from a MMO you got this Class dilemma, so im hoping some of you can help me with some nice opinions.

Im thinking about a Mesmer or a Ele give me some Pro and Cons about those 2.

Oh good, I am not crazy… I left a few months ago to take a break and concentrate on school… Come back and my Deathly Chill feels very underwhelming. I had a nice build for it and it did wonderful dmg… about 800 a tick.

Not liking bleeding as it is easier for enemies to cleanse it off now.

They’ve already indicated that there is a separate WvW team working on the WvW fixes and for once they are actually consulting with WvW guilds from the top tier servers. Just as there’s a fractal team and a raid team. If anything they are still in the earliest stages of designing the next expansion.

And if you bothered to read either the blogpost about what’s coming down the road this year you wouldn’t be asking this question.

Nothing has been done… Also, those top tier servers are just zerg fests that gave us Edge of the Mist… Not a WvW map at all. P.S. Devon Carver is now gone from ANet.

Relax, Aidan. I’m not perfect, but that wasn’t a flub. Colin did make the statement, so I was just repeating the core message that he shared.

No offense, but the first Expansion is incomplete still… The WvW overhaul that was promised with HoT has yet to be released… just saying, finish the first xpac’s contents before the second one, unless the price is going to be a fraction of HoTs.

Well… to be fair this guy was reported back on Fort Aspenwood in June 2015… He was caught on youtube, and has now moved to HoD… The fact that he has been using these hacks for almost a year now with no repercussions shows how bad things are... I will PM Gaile information, cause sending reports to exploits@arena.net does not work.

Edit: Seems his account may have been terminated, or he just has a new one with the same name with a different #### at the end.

Maybe the same reason some accounts have permanent bad RNG while others have permanent good RNG. Just saying…

I’m no so sure about (1) – some of the bosses are really big and it’s going to be hard to both watch them and look above them.

Another possibility for 1) make a slider that allows us to position where damage numbers appear… I know I am doing damage, I do not need to see it appear in the middle of the creature I am fighting. As this combined with the crit effect and spell effects is just another thing blocking important animations that warn an evade is needed.

And as said above, I like the animations and stuff, but it is the lingering spell effects that seem to be a problem, not the size of Fireball as stated.

Instead of nerfing more and more visual graphics these are somethings I would like to see to improve gameplay…

1) Damage numbers need to appear ABOVE the target.
2) Bosses need that orange ring or to glow orange (like a bright aura) while building up an attack. This would make them more visible (make it a toggle if you’d like)

3) Give players the ability to change Red / Green/ Blue indicators to different colors for players with colorblind illness (some of which is not curable with special glasses).

4)… I am sure there are plenty more examples

Solo’d the HoT personal story with lots of ease running a reaper with sinisters armor / rabid trinkets and minions (Blood fiend, Bone fiend, shadow fiend, “Rise” (shout) flesh golem) Must use minion traits and blood magic. Reaper is required for shouts. Run shout mastery so Rise basically has 0 cooldown, also minions from Rise cut incoming damage by 50% as long as they are attacking.

Watch for the animation, don’t stand infront of him/her, dodge roll or zig-zag side to side, ect. Actually try and think of ways to get the upper hand, then Yolo’ing straight at a Rev/Herald with his/her hammer out, knowing full well that, Hammer #2 is coming…

Yes because those non-reflective cracks in the ground AoE is so visible underneath the groups and effects of people in WvW?

Side Note: I have been hit for 18.9k on Guardian by CoR… Several revs in a group = perma fury, 25 might, etc…

Knowing that these Revs will be using CoR, and that they would be in a group, doesn’t it make sense to maybe, not run straight in, think of new tactics in handling them? Seeing the amount of damage you where dealt, I can only imagine that your running Full ZERK or an equivalent that renders your overall armor low, with a decent HP pool, so maybe MARAUDERS?

Perma Fury/25 Might you say, hmm, seems there is a lot of builds for other classes that can boast those numbers, and 25 Might isn’t perm, and having those two facets up, Revs sacrifice other energy using things….like attacks.

Soldiers actually, and with soldiers my guardian sits at about 16k HP, up from the base 11k.

The server I play on is in that 64.25.×.x range… Please fix this, as I am tired of both npc’s and players teleporting around … I also am having my ISP come out on Black Friday (missing those sales) to check some stuff… However, my Guild Wars 2 packet loss is right at your servers… Please fix this!

The WvW developer Devon Carver, no longer works at Arena Net. He hasn’t since October. Also, according to some information, he hadn’t worked on WvW since March 2015. Can we please get an official response on to why this was not announced to the WvW players…

We are part of Guild Wars 2 as well… We would like to be included in the loop and to know if a NEW Developer is working on what is referred to as WvW.

I hate to be the kitten-hole here, but I guess someone has to be.

How is this any different than raids not being friendly to people with hand problems, or other physical issues that keep them from managing that level of content?

Yes, they could put in extra effort to make this playable for those that are color blind, but what about those with other problems? You don’t seem too worried about them, and it’s just as unfair to them as it is to you.

Raids exclude people, and in a twitch-based game like GW2, that’s going to exclude some people with physical limitations. It just so happens that yours is one of them.

Now, with THAT nastiness out of the way… I would hope that they listen and find a way to change it for you. I worry, however, that further on you’ll be needing even more colors in-use during a boss fight, and color blind friendly will simply not be an option.

Because having a PHYSICAL disability is not FIXABLE by ANet… Offering a DIFFERENT COLOR RING is a 5 minute fix… Understand?

Im pretty sure CA will mainly be used for the full Condi clear/stun break (if you have it traited). CA 3 + 5 can proc ancient seeds and CA 4 will be a good quick heal in coordinated team fights. You shouldn’t camp CA for the full 10s duration, 5s is plenty. This would be different with a healing spec in PvP though.

Correct, CAF should be used as a Daze/Heal and moving water field. Hopping in and out of it as needed.

Hate to ask, but ignorance is bliss

Question: How is Astral Force and Celestial Avatar used in say WvW or even the confined space of sPvP?

I’ve seen some of the various threads and videos, all look great. Yet I’m still failing to get the basic concept of when or how Celestial Avatar should be used. A few times I’ve used it I thought it went well, others badly. This is coming from me playing conditional with traps to scout and berserk to flip NPC’s and camps.

While trying to get the gist of the Druid it seems I’m slower than most and not getting it. Especially when it sounds like it should offer a bit more CC than most other classes and those I’m playing with are dying quicker. Figured I’d ask to be pointed in the right direction or maybe provided food for though / tips / tricks.

This is a great question. I myself have been experimenting with swapping out the Longbow for a Staff while maintaining the Berserker gear. I am currently running full zerk as well. With the new change to regen adding to AF gain, it will make it even easier for DPS builds to enter CAF (so no need for the staff for me)…

How I use CAF: If I am roaming I use CAF as a Daze/Heal (#3) followed by a condi cleanse (#2). However, if you are roaming with a group that is practiced in blasting water fields on the commanders tag… This is where it works wonders. Your #4 is on a rather short cooldown and with the ability to enter CAF frequently in WvW, you are a mobile water field. This and Condi cleanses with #2. If you are running a staff (even in zerkers) Staff 5 + Staff 3 on top of it = 2k AoE Heal for those around you. You still do decent DPS while helping your teammates survive.

The above is how I play it, you must find a setup that works for you and run with it.

Before xpac i played on my necro and was able to tag players and get loot. Since xpac i have been playing on my rev and started getting back into wvw and while i am getting xp for the kills, it seems like the loot isn’t dropping nearly as much. Did something change for this that i’m not aware of?

Well they made synthesizers for materials for loot in WvW… Didn’t you know? These we already Stealth nerfed though.

Seriously though, as a WvW main, I am not surprised… The worst loot for 3 years just got even more worse.

I’m not nearly done with the story thus far and I’m rather impressed with most of the plot. But, I have a bone to pick.

DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU FEAR SPOILERS

Eir’s death is completely anti-climactic. It’s almost a throw away scene, especially for a Norn PC. We spent the majority of our personal story as an apprentice, of sorts, to Eir. The dungeon storylines give even more relationship. While Commander, when we lost a Norn comrade, we were sent to Hoelbrak to attend the funeral. And yet, when Eir dies, we turn to Braham and say, “Sorry for your loss. Dispose of the body quick so we can get back to business.” The indifference my Norn PC showed to Eir’s death and Braham’s loss was maddening and emersion breaking.

We already had a difference in story when playing as a Sylvari. I’m not saying this situation is as earth shattering as the subversion of an entire sentient race, but there were areas this was addressed differently based on your player race. As a Norn, our cultural responsibility, and the personal relationship we had with the deceased, necessitated our travel back to Hoelbrak to attend to Eir as much as it did Braham’s. In the PS, we put the hunt for Zhaitan on hold to attend to our fallen Norn comrade and we’d known her for all of three story steps.

This would also have been a wonderful opportunity for a cut scene showing the Norn ceremony. To show Braham cutting his hair and vowing revenge upon Mordremoth. A far better setup to Braham becoming a Dragonhunter than Taimi asking about his new hairdo.

That’s it. My bone is picked but it does indicate in my mind an area I wish Anet would explore more. Specifically, make parts of the story race specific for all PC races. Each step of this journey will have a different impact upon the PC based on their race. Yes, it would take more programming time for the scenes and the story steps, but it should be seen as an investment; a way to encourage players to create multiple race alts and thereby sell more character slots.

Eir and Taimi are my 2 favorite characters so far in this game… When I saw this scene I was really upset… They could have used this as an opportune moment for Eir to become a Druid… Being healed by the spirits of Nature and passing her Bow over to Braham… It was a failed scene in my opinion, but to each their own… :’(

Played since headstart, never had any ascended chests drop, constantly losing the battle with RNG on anything and to make things worse, I have WvW’d for 3 years… At least you have reward tracks, better gold gain, and unlock finishers in PvP… WvW players have had to spend gold for 3 years to upgrade buildings and buy gems to get finishers.

I have no ascended weapons or armor for the same reason, to expensive, to time gated.

Getting Guild Halls too Hard

I know the guild halls are supposed to be an adventure, but if we have to spend 100 gold why do we have to fight such difficult enemies to get it? I am in a guild of 2 people, which we consider fine, we like just having family in the guild, but we cannot get the guild hall because the enemies are too difficult for 2 people. I would love if there was a way around defeating the Mordrem to get the hall, such as paying extra. Just my thoughts on the subject because it is frustrating after 30 tries and failures.

Do not feel bad, we managed to get it with 10 people… (Anything over 8 people and more enemies spawn) So use some other players who have already done the Guild Hall to help. If you use 8 players it should only spawn 1 breacher at a time.

Also, you will NEVER be able to upgrade stuff because of the ungodly amount of items required… It really is unfair to small WvW guilds who want to WvW but are being forced to PvE constantly to “TRY” and upgrade stuff to get War Room.

As a WvW player with crappy rewards for 3 years and not being able to earn gold (lower tiers)… The whole reason I was excited was because I could / cannot afford a precursor. However, after seeing the first exotic just for bifrost collection 1 will cost me around 550g, I have already given up. Thanks ANet for making RNG and Loot system and new Legendary system all fight against the players….

Also while I am on the subject, why is it some accounts get 3 ascended chests in 1 night while others (like myself) never have gotten 1. I have played since headstart and the lack of luck is annoying and really frustrating. I’d quit, but there is literally no other game out there that compares at the moment. Please do something about your RNG favoring a few accounts and not being Random… GW2 uses a Pseudorandom number generator, therefore the numbers will ALWAYS repeat, because no program can truly be random.

Edit: This means accounts with bad luck will always have bad luck, while those who land on the high end of the RNG spectrum will always have good luck.

I don’t understand what the OP is trying to say. Are you not happy about this announcement or are you looking forward to it?

I am unhappy with the fact that WvW was left out of the Blog… We were told the reason WvW wasn’t being prioritized was because of HoT expansion… after HoT launches their #1 priority was to finally address the poor rewards that WvW offers. 5 minutes in sPvP can produce more rewards… It upsets me to know that it still isn’t even on the radar, as it was a footnote under combat visibility for the blog.

Just trying to remind the Devs that WvW is dying rapidly in lower tiers, and it is not going to get better until the poor rewards get addressed.

Now that they have the new event participation concept, where if you do not participate actively you do not get the rewards. We need incentive to defend, better line of sight when shooting down from walls, etc… A player on the ground can shoot up and hit someone on a wall before they are even able to get them in LoS. These kinds of things…

Our goal was to ensure we didn’t really need to tweak any major game system again after this expansion and our focus could be entirely on adding new content, and building on top of – rather than expanding outward systemically. Hello, my name is John Corpening. I’m the game director for World vs. World in Guild Wars 2.

World vs. World as it is today is an amazing experience where hundreds of players are constantly engaged in epic battles for control of towers, keeps, castles and more…

Another area we want to improve is how players are recognized and rewarded for their contributions to their team. Whether you defend, scout, run havoc, zerg bust, roam, conquer or win team fights you should be fairly compensated from the game and not rely on the hope that your team may kick you back some gold at the end of the night for you to feel rewarded for the valuable effort you put into the success of your world.

After Adopt-A-Dev we spent some time discussing and debating the results. Even though a good portion of the team was already dedicated to working on World vs. World content and features for Heart of Thorns, we assigned people to start tackling these problems and more.

… we look forward to sharing those plans with you. As work on Heart of Thorns wraps up, we’ll be treating resolving the remaining core areas in WvW as our #1 live development feature priority for the game to ensure we deliver on making World vs. World not just the great experience it is today *- but the incredible experience we know it can be. As this effort ramps up you will be hearing more from us about the work in progress.

An example of this work in progress is the recent change to how world populations are determined. Going forward worlds will be marked as full or not based on actual World vs. World participation rather than accounting for every player in the game.

WvW has become more pirateship

For starters I heavily dislike the nerf on -40% condition duration on food.

As a commander whose playing melee, im having major issues with conditions atm. Even yesterday i saw around 30+ squishies shredding my small 15 man melee train to pieces not by raw damage but by only conditions.

Im more and more wandering if theres any point for me to even play as a melee anymore due to the impossibleness of even engaging without loosing 80% of my hp in 3 seconds (even if earlier before going full melee inside i have baited out half of the enemy blobs damage).

If i dont have shelter and renewed focus available when starting to engage, then im dead meat. Even with those available, i can still easily be stoped with the help from new meta- applying immobilizing traps on the advancing melee train and simply kiting them to death.

I swear the new WvW has shifted a lot more towards pirateship meta and things such as reflection walls, projectile blocking skills or even the extra leaps simply do not cut it anymore due to heavy CCs (immobilize, cripples, chill and now even traps). Even the removal of guard stacks has made a big impact for the tankiness on melees.

Atm i see melees on a very bad status and im feeling like becoming a dragonhunter with a bow and shifting towards full pirateship meta seems to be the main way to handle blob fights nowadays.

There is just too much CC in the way and even if you make it through the CC then more then likely the conditions have done half of the job when you have allready made melee contact.

Its just not enjoyable plain as a melee anymore when you get blob fights with players around 40-60, it realy isnt.

The problems you are having with dying faster is due to the removal of the Guard stacks. A lot less Health now.

Unaceptable pet location behind a 2h event

This desicion is unaceptable,

i am a wvw player i dont want to waste my time in pve watching ppl failing the event again and again and beeing forced to wait and search for a map where an organized party is killing the boss so i can go and get my pet.

Why are u forcing me to play an event over and over again, just to get my pet, this is not nice to your Rangers, and sorry but i am raging right now.

today from 6 am until 2 pm i was trying to get my tiger and e v, but nope no one no map no organisation could do it.

II want to go and play wvw not camp a pve map for an event i dont like to get acces to my class proffesion skills.

No other klass has to do that kind of thing.

Pooor design and a good reason to give a bad review on metacritics

If u get Mushroom bouncing 1, you can get to Fire Wyverns anytime… I can show u if u need.

During the Beta Weekend for Druid, I loved it… I have been farming non stop to get my Druid Elite… Now that I have it, everything I loved in beta is gone… The CAF bar fading out of combat… Really? Smokescale F2 Swapped… WHY? Why can Rangers not have nice things? I was going into this Expansion with the impressions of not playing a pseudo warrior who has to build adrenaline in combat and lose it out of combat… Our CAF is like Shroud, why are we losing it out of combat now? Matter of fact, Irenio said we can CANCEL CAF EARLY and MAINTAIN HALF of our FORCE? However, you cannot even build force anymore, unless in combat…

:( still doesn’t work for me either. Wish it would just let me talk to the frog… I tried using Bonfire on him to cook him into frog legs… That didn’t work either.

EDIT/UPDATE: Another player that was having same problem got a party in different instance. It worked for them, so I joined them in the new map and it worked.

We really need a way to change instances.

This is only a problem with Thief traps as Ranger traps apply a small damage tick when triggered.

Does A-Net realize that the karma train in EotM is gonna be a HUGE thing? That’s the most efficient way for a WvW player to earn the hero points. I HATE EotM, but it’s better than PvE… so I’m gonna spend several MONTHS running in a karma train (to get the elite on all 19 toons) rather than fighting in WvW as I’d rather be doing.

Not just WvW ranks… Badges rain in EoTM… The drop rate for badges in normal WvW is horrible.

Since they announced this, I have spent 3 hours a day just running hero challenges. I am now sitting at 202 Hero Points on my Ranger… Now when patch hits, I will be headed to the jungle to find the new pets (i am a wvw only kind of player…) While I am there I plan on getting as many of the hero challenges that are accessible without masteries. From there I will use wxp boosters and possibly Edge of the Mist to grind WvW ranks as fast as possible to unlock more of Maguuma’s Hero Challenges.

On a side note… I will not be playing the Druid until it has all the skills / traits I like unlocked.

please dont take this as rage or hate or anything but i gotta vent im a little ….meh.

So i main necro, followed the scrapper hype all through the info releases. After trying it on the beta weekend i was hooked. I had a partially leveled engy, so i finished it, grinded out all his skills, all his exotics, some ascended, crafting , bought skins went HAM.

now i find out, to even play the elite spec, i have to grind ANOTHER at least 170 points.

So doing the math, thats either basically doing map complete now in 3 days to find enough to unlock it. OR waiting till HoT, where they are 10 points each. BUT assuming 5-10 per map like currents maps, i will be half way through HoT open world content BEFORE even being able to use the spec properly.

Like i said im not raging but i cant lie, kinda killed the hype for release when i know its just going to be a grind to even START playing.
“Play how you want” ha, ya right.

In advance of the HoT Release, I have been running JUST hero points on the chars I know I want elites on first. Don’t do the hearts/ If dual monitor type /wiki “Name of Zone Here” then go to interactive map. Hide the vistas on the map and just figure out best path to hit all HPs the fastest, then move on to next map.
