Well u and me dont chare the same aspect of the game what uve been writing is one thing but the one thing u said about the sharing part is mostly for minor guild that doesnt have any other choice but to represent other guilds to get the maximum enjoyment of this game… u know why… because they will not have a chance to become a solid guild whit the ground that 5 guild representation gives them

You really and completely don’t understand, do you? It’s like when I met someone in PvP who couldn’t grasp the idea of having fun there even if you’re losing.

so whats the point in Guild in Guildwars more then repping 5 guilds and be all over the place? why not just convert this to console and everyne can enjoy their time in peace.

You seem overly focused on the importance of Guilds and being part of one. Just because you’re running around solo doesn’t mean you’re not enjoying the social aspects of the game. You can jump in and help someone kill a monster, or take on a world boss with everyone else in the area. You can revive someone, or get revived. You can talk and maybe even joke with the people in map chat. You can see cool looking characters, and maybe try to improve on the look yourself.

Guilds are not the important part of the game. They’re just one way to get to it. For some people, they’re not the best way. The guild chat changes will just give more options to people, make the game more flexible in the social aspects, so more people can have fun.

Guild Halls & Personal Guild Concern

While the Initiative Headquarters is not a full guild hall, it will provide access to existing features that we’re moving out of the guild panel for those guilds that do not upgrade to the expansion.

It sounds like, if you have them before HoT goes live, you’ll keep them and be able to access them at the Initiative Headquarters, but ONLY there.

If you don’t have them before hand, or want to expand them after HoT goes live, it sounds like you’ll need a guild hall.

ofc there will be a guild for anything… but what about that guild… that u accualy has a guildhall whit… or should u have 5 guildhalls and join them when ever u choose, then whats the point of joining a fight and claim ure guildhall? where is th dedication and guild feeling?

Different people will approach this in different ways. But what I think you’re missing is that not all guilds will be … well, Guilds.

Chat-only guilds will not need a guild hall. They will not need you to represent them. They’re just a way to create a chat channel for a group of people to talk to each other. They’ll never be your main guild, nor do they need to be.

When this goes live, you’ll see an upsurge of guilds made JUST for chatting, I think.

Group of friends that want to chat while they play whatever parts of the game they enjoy? Guild.

People that want to talk about anime? Guild.

Roleplayers, especially those centered on a specific part of the game or lore? Guild.

Group of people that like to do flash mob type of events in games? Guild.

Fanfic writers wanting to debate if they should ship Logan with Eir or Rytlock? Guild.

New guilds that people never (or almost never) rep, they just use them to chat though. Once the idea catches on, we may find that 5 isn’t enough…

what happen will city of heroes? i knew the game are dead but how?

NCsoft pulled the plug. The developers were excellent, the game itself was making small but steady profit for them, but they had bigger fish to fry and GW2’s not-so-successful launch to fund.

I adore CoH and played it for years (And support the development of city of titans), but there can be no denying that it was not making good profit. Revenue? yes. Profit? No.

They even switched to a freemium model to try and boost earnings and they still didn’t meet the mark thus, despite the huge community support, they got shut down.

GW2 is arguably one of the top 5 most successful and stable MMORPG’s in the west right now, CoH was a niche game for a niche market that only in recent years has expanded to a far wider audience (ie, the Superhero fandom and it’s explosive growth in recent years)

It’s more that all the attempts to sway NCSoft to spare or at least sell CoH were unsuccessful in the end. And if all those big attempts to save CoH failed, then what hope do the people upset about the HoT pricing have with NCSoft?

ANet - you have a moral duty here

Palador.2170

I honestly can’t tell who’s joking any more.

“A moral Duty?”

really?

It’s a fantasy that some like to believe. Even I used to believe it, back in a different game.

The fact is that ANet has no moral duty to us. They are a business, we are the customers. That’s it. They could rise above and beyond that, but have chosen not to and have shown that well before now. People need to remember that.

People ALSO need to remember that they have no moral duty to ANet, either. There is no requirement that you do anything to help them in any way. Support the game with gems? Don’t need to. Give it good press? Don’t need to. Report a bug/exploit you found? Don’t need to. (Just don’t abuse/use it, either.) You may want to, and ANet would LOVE for you to feel that you need to, but it’s their mess to deal with. Not yours.

There is no moral duty here. However … you are the person you are. We’re not required to be better than them, but we can still choose to be so. No matter how upset I may be at ANet right now, tonight I plan to log into the game and be nice to my fellow players, and make fairly calm posts on the forums. The only moral duty is to ourselves, let’s make a better choice about it than ANet has.

P.S. : Sorry, that kind of went WAY off topic, didn’kitten

It’s because we’re tired of giving our reasons for it time and time again. This suggestion keeps popping up, like mount threads do, and keeps getting shot down.

Yes, there are ways to make it possibly work, and not get too much onto the nerves of those that don’t want it. Some still hate the idea, just as some would hate the restrictions that come with doing it that way.

6/23: Why is Ascended gear getting stronger?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Palador.2170

Palador.2170

It’s not power creep either ,its a redistribution of the stats lost from the trait changes… , As long as a person with the highest tier of armor does not have to do any new work it’s nothing like adding a new gear tier. Technically everyone should be working towards ascended anyway as one of the games basic goals. It just wasn’t mandatory (still isn’t)

It’s more of an increase than any other tier of gear is getting, so it’s not just a redistribution of the stats lost from the trait changes.

The small amount to be gained by going from exotic to ascended was actually presented as a point in its favor when it was introduced. It made it very optional, easily ignored by people that didn’t want to bother with it. Now it’s less optional, especially given that they’re supposed to be adding “challenging group content” with HoT.

ANet took two steps to do what most MMOs do in one, and it IS the first step on a “gear treadmill”. The important question now is “Will they take another step?” IF they stop here, it’s ugly but survivable.

They should however complete the set and add legendary armor and be done with it. They can either do the same +buff/changeable stats, or just do a really good skin(not the crap ascended that looks like a filler) and make the stats changeable.

I’d prefer that they make Legendary armor look just like the starting armor, and save the cool skins for armor gained another way. Weapons are enough of a “legendary look”, we don’t need it for armor too.

6/23: Why is Ascended gear getting stronger?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Palador.2170

Palador.2170

This change is not a treadmill:
Ascended is still the highest tier, your existing ascended armor is still the best armor.

And as far as we know it will be easier to acquire in HoT

And as far as we know it will be harder to acquire in HoT.

Don’t forget, every new zone they’re adding is level 80, no lower level drops to provide the lower tier materials for making new ascended gear. With more players focused in those zones, supplies will go down and costs will go up.

They’ve always said that even though they will never add another tier of gear beyond ascended, they are commited to gradual vertical progression. For years, the ascended forum defenders have been trumpeting the first and conveniently ignoring the latter.

Actually, I recall them saying that they wouldn’t add another tier of gear for now, and that was over a year ago. I think the time limit on that has expired, and when it comes to adding in a new equipment tier “nothing is off the table”.

Why is the RP crowd so closed off?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Palador.2170

I normally dont have problems with RP-ers, until last week when 10 of them from a certain rp guild upscaled an event i was doing and contributed nothing. They kept walking around there (Calledon forest, Scrit area with the ruins) for 30 minutes. Had to collect 100 datacrystals to get the event done and kill zilions of skritt.

Oh wow. It must have been a nightmare for you, being forced to finish that event, and all that extra loot you would have had to carry too! My word!

Seriously though, this thread is about someone trying to get into the RP community. It’s not about why RPers are such terrible people to you, so I don’t understand why you had to post this other than to seize an opportunity to have a go at a style of fun you don’t understand.

Actually, their post brings up a good point as to another reason why RPers can be hard to find sometimes.

With events all over the place outside of the main cities, it’s hard to find good RP gathering points that don’t cause problems for others. Many of us do try to be considerate of people actively playing, and want to avoid doing things like leveling up events that we’re not helping to clear.

It makes finding good RP spots hard, and when we do find them they tend to be out of view of most players. It’s part of why there’s so many RPers in the cities and not out in the world at large.

delicate, brick-like subtlety.

About Skill Points (Scroll of Knowledge)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Palador.2170

Palador.2170

Do NOT use them!

When the change hits, skills and traits will be purchased with “Hero Points”, which will be gained by leveling up and by doing the skill points on the map (they’ll be renamed with the change).

Your characters will be given Hero Points according to their current level and any of the skill/hero challenge points they’ve done. Any “excess” points will be turned into the new mystic forge currency, the same as the skill scrolls.

If you use the scrolls now and buy skills, you’re effectively throwing those points away. You won’t be refunded for points you’ve gained from scrolls and spent, as the game has no record of if you’ve spent them on skills or mystic forge stuff. So unless you REALLY need to unlock some skills before the changes next week, just hold on to the scrolls.

Given exploration is a big deal with gw2 and all.

Now they can have events unlock merchants that sell special items, or have the events just drop special items (if the RNG gods love you), and have those part of a collection to give the same results.

That’s right. The Kahn-Ur. The legendary leader of the charr that shaped who they are today, much like Ventari did for the sylvari. And yet, there’s no sign of this legend anywhere! Why? This would be one of the FIRST Rytlock would channel, I would think.

I’ll do my best.

They’ve not said it, but it’s safe to assume that everyone’s skills (and traits) will be reset when the changes hit. It’s the only way to do it without potentially breaking some things.

You’ll earn “Hero Points” as you level up and as you take on the skill point challenges (soon to be renamed). When the change hits, each character will be set to the correct amount of Hero Points based on those two things, and any excess skill points they have will be turned into spirit shards.

There will be “tracks” that you can spend hero points in to unlock trait lines and skill lines. Warriors, for example, will have banners and shouts as two of their skill lines. As you spend hero points in a line, you unlock the skills in it, starting with the weaker ones (the ones that cost one skill point now) and going up to the elite skill for that line. All class skills that do not seem to be part of a line are getting a slight adjustment and put into a line.

Trait lines will unlock in a similar way.

Idea for a Mastery - Riding

At 7, you can use underwater weapons while mounted, allowing you to fight while riding.

I’d prefer mounts specific weapons though. Like lances!
Now that I think about it, this could be very interesting. Possible specialisations? A new form of combat (along side underwater and land)? Wish I wasn’t so lazy, could probably have done a big wall of text. Would be fun in WvW, think of two waves of cavalry charging into it each.

Just to be clear, my post was a joke.

With that said, the fact that spears are the most lance-like weapons in the game is what gave me the idea for that part. Tridents could fit the same role for spell casters. Harpoon guns from horseback, however, would be stupid.

Seeing a post from ANet on RP is pretty kitten ed laughable, but whatever…

>Clearly not into RP.
>Comes into an RP related Thread.

Lol ok.

Actually, I’m quite into RP. It’s just that ANet’s choices often seem to hit like fingernails on a blackboard for RPers.

Ever try to RP with a mesmer that is using the skill that gives them a random buff every 10 seconds, with a chance to say something when it fires off? Well, it sounds like the Rev will be like that, but we can’t just unslot a skill to make them shut up while RPing.

And Rytlock trained us? I know that there’s not supposed to be a ton of them (just as there’s only one First Commander of the Pact), but he’s really going to just pick out some random charr/human/asura/norn/sylvari and train them personally? As far as that goes, why in any god’s name would he return and train a sylvari at all?

Megaservers.

Town clothes into tonics. Given that some of the town clothes already worked much like outfits (overwriting the other slots’ appearances when you equipped the chest), they could have made outfits and town clothes work on the same system. Or at least turned the town clothes into outfits.

And let’s not forget the ungodly chat/emote range in this game.

So, yes. I feel it’s laughable. Especially when it’s a post where they come in and tell us how the Rev will work, and it’s pretty RP-dysfunctional. I get the feeling that most RPers are going to just discard large chunks of what they’ve said and make stuff up for themselves. As usual.

And they’re going to talk to themselves if they’re standing around? Wow, glad we got THAT added in, it’ll make RP so much better, right? Then again, maybe after the 50th time you run into yet another Rev having a chat with invisible Glint while standing in the bar, you’ll learn to tune it out.
