ARPG is not about stats and customizablilty, it’s about a combat system
The uniqueness of gw2 lies in it’s simplicity, not in an even more complex and indepth system

You split up the system to primary and secondary effects. It has already been done. just unequip all your gear on a level 80, you’ll see you have 0 points in all attributes, except for the primaries.

Primary are power, precision, toughness and vitality
Secondary are condition dmg, healing, ferocity, expertise, concentration

Base Combat damage, critical chance, and defense in armor as well as the healthpool are primary based.
Secondary are Condition Damage, Heal boosts, Cirtical dmg modifiers, Condition duaration and boon duration.
Fixed is the base endurance gain for dodges

All other modifier you mention are covered in variables like:
runes, sigils, food, utility, traits, utility skills, combofields, boosters, potions and more.

The system is already very flexible…

If you want a build np, if you want to check if you can do it on 1 set, if not get a second. armors and gear is not that expensive.

There is a reason I have 22 characters now. I had 22 builds, nowadays I have 26 or 27. for 9 classes. This should show I have 3-4 builds on most classes I play. The inflexibility of the present gear system could be a problem, but it’s the main thing this game revolves around, and it’s solution lies in re-stat-ing your gear.

We’ll see if the new expansion will bring new stats and a shift in meta, or if new Masteries make the changing of builds more flexible….

I choose builds in the 1st year adn I’m still perfecting them further. New secondary weaponsets, new builds, new goals…

I actually have 3 characters playing staff ele. They have 5 builds… from Glass DPS, to DPS/Healer, to Healer, to Bunker/Healer to a Versatile Build… 2 of these characters have seondary options for weapons, and I have a 4th using a dfferents et for conditions. None of the trait setups are the same.h

If a new stat would be introduced I might couple Heal Conditions.

Referring to the 2 previous posts, we cover everything in the present system, it is just a bit further waway from the systems you used before I guess..

It feels a lot like old paper D&D, or other tabletops

It is too complex and way to different to ever get a chance of implementing. and if it did it would be detrimental to the playerbase, effectively rewriting everything and invalidating everything, so the whole playerbase should restart.

SO My best guess/suggestion wouldbe: You send this list to a developer and suggest they make a game on your proposal instead of destroying this one.

  • Using off professional equipment of skills requires a stat check. A strong mage could wear heavy armor, and an intelligent warrior could learn a spell.
No please no… If you want to play a heavy caster role a guard, if you want a light one role ele, if you want a medium one, either go druid or go engineer, even though it doesn’t feel as magical using alchemy instead of magics.

Specking throughout the tree requires 1 hero point to unlock a node. As a result, every level up gives only 1 hero point up to level 80. Hero challenges also reward 1 hero point. Equipment can roll with 2 affixes that draw from the bonus pool, and rare, unique, legendary, etc can have the arpg standard epic loot that has a “wall of text” of bonuses. Also, upgrade slots could vary between equipment, as upgrade slots are provided on the profession progression trees.

    Intelligence
  • Decreases cooldown
    traits
  • Increases spell damage

4 secondary attributes that are invested throughout the tree
    Accuracy
  • Increases breakbar damage. Rolls against a natural block or dodge.
    precision
    Reflex
  • Increases a player centered movement/knockdown/stun condition breakbar
    -dodge mechanic_
    Willpower
  • Increases a player centered mind affecting/curse breakbar
    dodge mechanic
    Fortitude
  • Increases a player centered damaging condition breakbar
    dodge mechanic

Seems strange to change the complete core of a game. changing this might also require a rename to World of Guild Legends XIV. This said please check attributes

Resistances to Damages as

  • Physical resistance (% armor conversion)
  • Fire resistance
  • Cold resistance
  • Lightning resistance
  • Poison resistance

Condition based dmg can be reduced or mitigated or cleansed. Through traits, food, runes or sigils

Damage types spread across different types
<snip>
Damage types are only used at present for death animations

Condition damage spread out among different damage values.

  • Bleeding
  • Burning
  • Poison
Well we have torment, confusion, fear as well…

Nodes on the skill tree can include

  • Skills are located along skilltree paths.
  • Weapon skills are also located along skilltree paths.
  • Empty skill slots: An empty skill slot lets a profession equip an off profession in the form of a skill tomb.
  • Empty rune slots: This type of slot equips a rune of any type.
already in place in the present trait system and armor system
  • Weapon skills would be a bit more general, weapon skills would be able to be used by multiple weapon types.
I’d prefer having all classes have tehir own skills. We have only 10 slots at present time.
  • Some skills and spells could utilise endurance as a mana system.
    See: Revenant
  • All skill types, including empty skill slots, have 3 adjacent sigil slots to modify that specific skill. More sigils could modify skills in different ways.
_ enough options already with2 weapon sets and 4 total possible sigils_
  • Trigger sigils could be introduced.
on crit sigils and on swap sigils , on stun sigils exist
  • Specializations are converted into nodes and spread out into different node clusters.
  • Elite specializations are located on the far edges of the tree, 1 path to enter the elite nodes.
  • Attribute bonuses comprise the skill tree highways.
  • Every profession has a separate skilltree.
We had a slightly more complex mechanism for traits before and ppl found it incomprehensible, even now most ppl cannot think of a synergetic build and need to default to Meta sites for basic solutions.

I prefer they’d retain the present system and balance dmg with the help of some experienced people with a lot of theorycrafting experience.

The stats are not the problem , nor is the system as it is now. The builds and most utilities are fine as is.

Big gamechangers are runes, foods and sigils. and synergies avaialble for maybe 1 true build per class…

The probelm lies in builds doing 40 k dmg while all other build options do 25k or builds doing 25k dps and boons while the other builds do either less DPS , less boons or both.

The fact Meta in builds singles out 1 build with no builds being comparable makes for a very uninspiring build mechanic even though a lot more variety is avaiable….

Both new stat combinations could loosen this up, more balanced skills & dmg and a wider need/neccesity to expand on the uses of meta.

Also the return to the old school builds systems would reduce the games uniqueness.

A lot of the things you mention can be “trained” and “geared” already

  • The guild mission golem whcih is a pain to find.

2-MULT is in Timberline, not Lornar’s. That might be the source of your problem.

Luckily I’m prone to mistakes as well… then add Timberline to the list as well, I’ll correct it in my post.

Worst Guild Wars 2 Map?

worst maps?

1 Southsun Cove
due to:

  • the seeming lack of events other then the few related Legendary Karka queen…
  • the horrid JP “stepping stones”
  • the Guild Trek no-one in our guild wants to do
  • the Guildmission “Crabb Toss” which requires to run circles for 5 minutes… It feels like a Nascar oval race. If something goes wrong, it’s catastrophic.

2 Iron Marches (Ascalon)

  • for not being ocnnected to diessa plateau (sounds trivial but has been a frustration since my 1st character.

3 Lornar’s Pass (Shiverpeaks)
due to:

  • 42 poi’s which annoy me really really bad doing map completion.
  • The guild mission golem whcih is a pain to find.
I was notified the golem is in Timberline Falls, SO I added Timberline Falls

4 Timberline Falls (Shiverpeaks)

  • The guild mission golem whcih is a pain to find.

5 Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Shiverpeaks)

  • cause I find this the 3rd map I prefer not to map after Lornar’s Pass and Timberline Falls, the only good things I found here are: is I got my 1st pre here and SE.

Just for the positive note

I love ALL the HoT maps, (Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Tangles Depths, Dragon’s Stand
I love the 4 HoT maps cause they are more interesting then the other maps, especially the layering causes the need for exploring and a sense of direction and familiarisation to be able to navigate fast and correctly. But when you have the WP’s and most masteries unlcoked navigation is a breeze. I will say Tangled Depths is the most difficult to explore, BUT it is a challenge, and therefore interetsing and not because of the mobs. I also tend to notice new and more efficient ways to travel.

I like Draconis Mons as well, I feel it is a very decently made map.
I like Lake Doric. It is ok as well, with beautiful area’s unfortunately it’s tainted by AFK farmers

Generalized:
Orr is something I look upon with mixed emotions…
I would like to see Orr changing… getting greener and seeing some powerfull normal critter returning to retake their place in Orr… pushing the Risen back to the temples
I had this feeling since I killed Zhaitan the 1st time (say 4+ yrs ago…)
The Shiverpeaks make me feel cold inside.
I find The Shiverpeaks the least inviting area if I look at it. This includes Bitterfrost… I have 8 or 9 Norns but I prefer to avoid the cold.
Ascalon
I find the inherent Darkness of Ascalon’s maps a nice touch, and the link to Lore is enourmous
Kryta
I find the human cities (Divinity’s Reach& Ebonhawke) very beautful And again I enjoy the link to Lore
Maguuma
I have little fondness of Rata Sum, but it’s not because of the map, but because of Asura in general. As a bookah-only player I prefer to stay away from Rata Sum

I Love the Sylvari maps (Mount Malestrom, The Grove and Caledon Forest)
I fell in love with those and I still am, My positive feelings with these maps also affect my feelings towards Draconis Mons

Personal opinion, I have no real problems with the potions returning in one way or another but I’d suggest a collection to unlock ’m both.

If they make them a collection, they should make them skins instead of potions.

Seeing it is a potion at this time , makes it possible to used the halo and horns while wearing full armor OR outfits while wearing your halo, this said, you’ll need to reapply it often, after death, (map-)porting, and it is mostly unusable in instances. This said it will not stack with other transformation potions. so no halo and embiggening… or halo-ed tree.

Keeping it a potion is preferable over making it an armor piece, at lieast in my opinions.

The Halo and the Horns are called the

Halo:
Selfless Potion
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Selfless_Potion

Horns:
Thoughtless Potion
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Thoughtless_Potion

The potions cause a cosmetic effect and are not usable in WvW and PvP.
The effects:

  • last for 30 minutes and can be reapplied, they are infinite potions, not skins….
  • are removed on port, mapping death, entering instances and do not function in fractals and raids, but do work in dungeons.
  • scale with the size of the user’s character; heavily affected by race. with the Norn and Charr version being pretty big and not precisely circular due to scaling and the asura one being pretty small…

These potions were part of the rewards available for tokens for

  • the Escape from Lion’s Arch LW S1 (februari 2014) events and
  • Mordremoth’s Minions Invade Tyria mini event (10 to 14 september 2015)

the Escape from Lion’s Arch

This story revolved around the events that followed the Invasion of Lion’s Arch by Scarlet and her armies. Lion’s arch was about to be destroyed and all residents were to be evacuated, in doing so you could get find drops around the city as a reward. A lot of people got 1, but sometimes even up to 5 potions. (required pretty extensive daily farming of the event though, to get more then 2)

This was one of the last events in the Living Story Season 1, and as such it isn’t repeatable. It was well recieved and people found the events extreme, and overwhelming mostly due to the nature of the content, with citizens being forced to flee, or die fighting, while the city was ransacked , pillaged and eventually destroyed.
This was also the moment the destruction of Old Lion’s Arch took place. and would result in the city we have today…
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Escape_from_Lion%27s_Arch

Mordremoth’s Minions Invade Tyria (weekend event)

Later a mordrem event was introduced, just prior to the introduction of HoT but it was not comparable in drops so you were limited to a maximum of 1 halo or horns set… I do not recall if you could get enough rewards, but it required a pretty hefty time investment these 4 days….

I remember this event not being well received by the community due to it’s grindy and forced nature, and it was a cause for quite some commotion and frantic request for the events to remain a bit longer. This was not done, also due to pressure from players who received their potions in the Lion’s Arch events who beleived it to be a devaluation of their items ingame, though no absolute monetary value can be connected to the potion, only an emotional value.

M. Triumphant Hero should be legendary armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Well, I’m missing old days where everything was exotic and flexibility on trying different stuffs was easy and didn’t require account bound recipes or sets. However, since Hot introduced the fun of playing wvw combat diminished for me.

As a dedicated wvw player since the release, I often myself having problem changing stats due to optimal gearing change after balance patches meanwhile PvP doesn’t have that problem and PvE (raiding content) can achieve minimal cost (People used to run berserker set till last balance patch). Sometimes, I give up a certain class because grinding to a new set costs a lot and I’m not even sure that if its gonna be nerfed or not in near future.

What I’m proposing making Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor set to be legendary set without any cosmetic change since most of wvw’er doesn’t really into cosmetic stuff because many of them plays character quality in lowest due to less fps drops in large battles. Justifying grindness of pve version, I think requiring between 3k and 4k rank + all current wvw achiements should be fair.

I oppose to making it legendary directly and if it would be considered to add WvW legendary armor,
I would suggest the 3rd armor would become precursor armor.
If this were implemented the requirements should be lowered to ~silver level (620) to allow all ppl to aquire it. So the special 2000 level armor would be devalued to allow anyone to start legendary armor.

With the stat swap only becoming available after gifts comparable to those of the backpack or the other legendary armor.

My suggestion would be:
The Gift of Prosperity and the Gift of Prowess could be used as a base
I’d suggest replacing the Gift of Craftmanship (part of the gift of Prosperity)
The Gift of Prowess could be used as a whole, maybe replacing the Ball of Stabilized energy for a plain Ball of Dark Matter, provided WvW ascneded armor and trinkets could give acces to the ball of dark energy.

This would mean there is a need to replace the gift of Dedication with a new Gift…
Prolems could arise IMHO with what to use for this gift… cause all consumables and tokens are abundant in WvW… and making a gift based upon WVW tokens, bottles and memories of battle and skirmish tickets comes to mind….

I think this would suffice, and be a great way to swap this armor to legendaries and I’d find the changees in line with the other legendary armor presently available. it would also reduce the time to be able to get it from 2 years to ~7-8 months, provided you can get the mats to craft it.

I too have played since release. At release I found GW2 to be one of the best games I ever played. It was full of great ideas whose time had come. That lasted until Oct/Nov of the first year and the Lost Souls (sic) patch.

One of the original great ideas was a game without vertical progression, i.e., no treadmill. That idea was gone within months of release. Other great ideas remained like non-competitive quests and resource nodes. But, it was almost like the devs managing the game were a different group entirely from the ones who created the game.

Vertical progression is the “no gear progression”…

Any exotics you had are still viable in present content except mid and high fractals, high tier WvW and Raids…

IMHO all lower content can be achieved in exotics; Dungeons, Fractals up to 20, maybe 50 with the ascneded rings & trinkets aquireable in less then 4 weeks, the world, WVW,exploration in vanilla and HoT.

The newer 4 stat gear is balanced. and i doubt the neccesity is 100% even if you want to run condition builds. Maybe the gear is even a bit less bursty compared to some older 3 stat gear. (also explains why berserker is STILL part of the meta.)

The next bad idea introduced had to do with story telling. They chose to tell story like episodic TV. That is, story had a beginning, took place in the existing world, and ended. If you weren’t around to experience it forget about it because it was gone. Achievements, loot, whatever it was gone. This created a sense similar to vertical progression, a pressure to play the game in a certain way before time ran out and it was no more. It fit in very nicely with vertical progression I suppose. The more Guild Wars alternative would be to evolve a living world where story unfolded in an expanding game world and remained.

Yes Living world season 1 was like you explain, and heavily critisized, However Living story season 2, HoT and Living story Season 3 are not. Not knowing the origins of Karka island Might be problematic, but is passable, The biggest problem is the War versus Scarlet, which is not explained enough, while there could be a Scarlet Scavenger Hunt through Tyria easily, to allow for more in depth and or immersive info on her exploits.

Big parts of the content have been rereleased but are unlinkable for the majority of players who arrived after season 1 passed examples:

Molten fractals (molten alliance),
Nightmare (and chaos?) fractals (Tower of Nightmares)
Aetherblade fractals (Aetherblades) & Mai Trin,

These fractals are all refering to the events prior to the siege of Old Lion’s Arch.
And with some effort a part of the residual story can be retraced in early living world season 2, where you can find a LOT of lore content in the story.

Today GW2 is a Platformer Obscura. Normally, in platforming you know the goal of the next jump. Here your first jump is to youtube to find out how to get to your destination—hence the Obsura. And, Obscura sounds cool. This is my nomination for the name of a new gaming genre. But, hey, they invented it so they are free to name it if they want. Add in densely populated annoying mobs and you have HoT. It’s funny how people can go on about HoT. It’s two things, 1) Platformer Obscura , and 2) densely populated, annoying mobs.

Ehm… Call it however you want. The game is a sandbox, and maybe it has dome things to it whcih are not clear on the surface, but to say its a hidden platformer is not true. a platformer is also somthing I relate to old Mario Brothers and Zelda. not to a (MMO-)RPG. (“No… Never played console in my life. Been behind PC’s since I was 6…”, thought the old greyish 40+ dude )

HoT was nerfed after the beta and about 6-10 weeks in again and is soloable content provided you have a bit (thats enough) of experience with how to play your class, (read: know more then just copy a meta build and think thats it…)

I honestly would never have guessed that GW2 would devolve to this point. It has gone from one of the best games I ever played to Platformer Obscura…and, I don’t like platformers…much prefer MMO’s.

I doubt you should compare GW2 from 2012-3013 to present day. A lot has changed, the “impossible to aquire ascneded gear” is pretty of the shelf nowadays. I’ve seen people gear full ascneded characters in 2-3 months and people with legendary armor who have been ingame less then 1 year.

Oh and legendary is still equivalent to the highest stat available. Being ascneded, so the gear tredmill ended in 2013 and has been at astop since, SO 3.5 years later, coming close to the second expansion we might see the release of legendary rings and asnceded foods, BUT the game gear is still the same.

I’ll be honest I think it would be possible to get a full ascneded character in ~2 months with my knowledge, and if you would be completely oblivious it should be doable from lvl 1 to -full ascneded- in 4-5, maybe even 3 months tops.

Well I do expect ppl to be honest… If people are using DPS meters and/or stat checkers, either legal or most likely not, you could be blacklisted or kicked from your raid group, and or guild / comunity…, and it will be a bad move longterm…. it’s difficult enough to convince ppl you should be part of groups…

If something like this would sing around…. I am quite open minded I like buildvariety… I do not use checkers and consider ’m offensive tbh. but I have been kicked before for using water in traits on my zerk ele. and had flames for zealot armor on some characters as well… Luckily I noticed most ppl not minding a difference in play style… But I never did Raids anyways….

Just farming the mats seems slow and problematic, but tbh I have 6 armors now, and 9 pieces on 4 other characters, and close to 80 ascneded weapons… 79 I think, I still need to unlock the Ascendeds from the specialisations, I still need ~27 pieces for all characters i would like to give ascnededs…. but it has become a low priority long term goal…

1 hour a day of SW and 1 or 2 hours of CF a week….and daily fractals should provide ample income…

Yes, those are my own words.

I still do not use DPS meters, AND I have been blacklisted by some. I also been added by many, for using out of meta builds helping groups get their kills. Yes, not challenge modes, but I did help to get it done.

I’ve been kicked form a guild cause I have my own style of playing. I have many builds

The farming of mats still seems slow, but I’ve moved on and now have 24+ armors and a HUGE amount of ascended weapons 125+ at least. both at least 6 more when you consider the legendaries as well.

I have a legendary character now, with legendary armor, back, weapons…

I do not farm. I have run CF about 10, maybe 20 times… .in 1750 days. I do not do fractal lvl 40 farm and if I farm, I go out and harvest some mats. I do 1 dungeon chest (the 5 gold one) per week and I do daily t4’s and recomended and I did some raids. most of these are with pugs.

Do not say you know me cause I type SW will get good money. I had a guildie who ran CF’s regularly, and bought 3 legendaries in 4 months… I’ve not spoken with her for quite some time, but she would likely now have all weapons for hetr class, in legendaries. (she runs a mesmer).

If you can pay for a legendary in less then 6 weeks when you played less then 1 year you seem to be able to get some cash…

Can we PLEASE have a healer spec?

in Guardian

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

I always found it strange that since the specialization update, Guardian has been a relatively terrible support class. In PvE, the support is non-existent, in sPvP it’s meh, and in WvW it’s passable because of “Stand Your Ground!” and traited VoC. I believe that staff needs to be brought up to speed by the following:

1 – Heals allies when used like Water 1 for ele on staff.

I’ll not disagree on this one, mace is the melee heal, having lootstick tagging everything, and healing all in front of you might be a bit overpowered… the area of effect is way to big. to balance reduce the amount of targets to 3 max. yes it would destroy the lootstick. or count heals and damage both as a hit amd prioritize healing over DPS. in heavy combat this would remove any damage potential.
2 – Increased base CD and area targetted, travels to that area and blows up there.

_It is a heal already, healing a bit in a line and on area when triggered, this said using it effectively is a pain And yes I’d prefer to see this a targetted skill and have it fire and forget.

3 – Symbol should heal or cleanse conditions when dropped (like how Longbow burns when it is dropped).

The symbol is a light field whcih can be blasted, or whirled through for condition removal, any projectiles moving through ALSO clean conditons

4 – Remove might, make it heal per pulse instead of at the end, and make it give 5 stacks of GotL at the end.

GotL isa druids boon. Having it stack 5 pulses of GotL would be OP. 12 might is already a good buff 12 might for 10 seconds , optionally to 20 seconds is pretty decent

5 – Heals those who pass through it.

The main function in WVW is to stop zergs…why another function as this one is extremely powerfull already. The only weakness in this skill is iut being a slow recharge I’d rather suggest reducing the recharge to 30s (or 35s)

Fixing staff would go a long way to healing out support Guardian. Mace still needs some help (quicker symbol and better auto heals imo), though Shield is in a fine spot. The biggest problems with support Guardian is the weapons suck, the utilities have to long of CD (though Anet has been reducing them at a snails pace) and nothing has DPS support.

I’ll be honest if you do want to run support guardian you can run Mace/focus and Staff
you’ll have a semi ranged option and a melee option. healing is strange but will be significant. the main problem is in PvE noone wants toughness or dedicated healers and in WvW they all want frontline DPS guardians.

In my opinions the only thing in the way of guardaisn and other healers is GotL on druids. To fix guard as a healer they should remove GotL from druids, it would also bring more auramancers and other builds.

The healing builds with transference, rune of the monks and food buffs, already have a 33% higher healing on allies effectiveness, this combined with healing on:

  • Mace 1 autoatatck aoe heal (180 range) on 3rd in chain)
  • Mace 2 symbol with regen and optional heals on symbol
  • Mace 3 is a block, can be used to stack more healing power
  • Focus 4 regen and blind and protection
  • Focus 5 is a shield and protection…
  • Staff 1 Lootstick auto tag many
  • Staff 2 Heal in a line with option to explode orb for bigger heal
  • Staf 3 Symbol for swiftnees with optional healing
  • Staff 4 12 might for 10 s, and a decent heal when channeled
  • Staff 5 a impassable wall for crowd control
  • Heal (6) Cone AOE heal
  • Utility (7) Signet of mercy +180 healing (stat) and a res
  • Utility (8) Hold the line (protection and regen)
  • Utility (9) Stand your ground for stability…
  • Elite (10) Signet of courage pulsing a heal… albeit slowly.
  • Heals on dodge,
  • Heal on virtue 2 if needed, not recommended
  • Toughness buff on 5 ppl
  • Selfheal on applying a boon… (yes that means the symbols will heal yourself more..)
  • Virtue of resolve, applying an AOE heal to 5 ppl
  • all weapon CD’s -20%
  • perma empower; recharge is 16s, duration in staff is 16.5s
  • 3 light fields for possible condi cleanses…
(dropping a symbol and engaging focus 5 might get an AOE condi cleanse….) else you should hope for other whirls or blasts

This is my build. It’s a weird hybrid. And I like it.
You do not have to be a dragonhunter, you want to support, not be the pointman.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQNApdWl8AhOhYtQwVIQTEH1DFuGSipIvFnYTcDgU4FA-TxxGABA8EAWS5X46DI/UAM0+D4pEMe1fIFgf70A-e

Yes this mixes the old guardian build with HoT gear. And it improves.
Remember others will get 33% more heals then you do. the food is pretty good.

Why do conditions do damage through blocks?
Why do conditions do damage through invulnerables?
Why isn’t condition damage affected by weakness?
Why does chill has to be both -66% skill recharge rate and -66% movement rate? when cripple and immobilize already exist.. why can’t chill just be -66% skill recharge rate?

Because anet made this game toxic. And it’s only toxic players that enjoy playing this game.

You are wrong:

This game just bleeds poison. And the confusion it causes sets the community on fire, But I guess it’s just the weakness of our builds that causes this vulnerability. And I am stunned by the immobilisation of the builds which does give me the chills… You all cripple and torment yourself. Instead of building up some resistance in this game and clean your own game. That could whirl some light into these posts.

Some effects seeming like and being (partial) Invulnerability can be passed by things like signet of might which provide unblockable effects:

Signet of Might:

  • Passive: Improves power.
  • Active: Your attacks are unblockable.

- Signet of Might: 180 Power
- Unblockable (6s): Your attacks are unblockable
- Duration: 6 seconds

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Signet_of_Might

Unblockable:

Unblockable is a property of attack skills which prevents the attack from being blocked, and in case of ranged attacks, reflected or otherwise destroyed by effects of skills. Unblockable is also an effect, currently only available from Signet of Might, “Nothing Can Save You!”, and Phase Traversal, making attacks for the duration unblockable. Skills that block will be ignored and effects that trigger on blocking will not trigger against unblockable attacks.

Unblockable skills can be evaded by dodging or other effects, aside from the ones that cannot be evaded by any means.

Most skills that only apply conditions or control effects (and are not projectiles) are unblockable.

You have Resistance to counter conditions… resistance is a buff whcih makes you temorary invulnerable to condition ticks…. however… most builds will apply long enough durations to only make you not gain added dmg duraing those ticks, and will tick on when the resistance ends

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Resistance

weakness will nullify the chances of applying conditions on crit, so it will protect via that route (conditions on crit being sigils and trait based) AND will reduce the (small) dmg from condition applying attacks further…

dodges and invulnearbility will make sure you will not get new conditins applied during the period of the attacks while you are dodging or invulnarable.

Oh and condi cleanses , light fields and finishers, condition removal traits and so on.

Placing markers as a basic squad option.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I can see the idea, and I disagree with it,

BUT

1st) you also have the option to place 1 marker yourself at ANY time. regardless of squad or party… your personal waypoint!

2nd) combine it with the basic draw and ping options. this functionality is more direct and fluent

3rd) I prefer the other markers to stay behind the options of the commander compendium.

The markers should be usable by commanders and lieutenants, not by everyone.
It would complicate things and alow for massive trolling. I remember all stuff drawn on the minimap in the past and I prefer -not- to see smilies drawn with commander markers…

Also the drawing and pinging will allow for dynamic adjustments, when compared to the commanders tags which are often only used as static markers.

Most things needed to be resloved in dungeons and fractals are movement patterns anyways. which are not easily covered by commander’s markers anyways

Play versatility and dps meter's

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

Versatility and DPS meters have nothing to do witch eachother.

If you want to allow versatility and non max DPS builds (also non-Meta build) you get an interestiung problem…

This said versatility and saying: “all welcome” seemingly invites the soldier builds, nomads, minstrels and all other builds imaginable with ranged weapons.

The problem is the “above average or near Meta builds” are not welcome in Meta and are squishy outside meta, mostly cause meta expects certain roles to control buffs and the endurance of the party, and non meta groups or builds sometimes lack these roles

this said…
The 1 Chrono, 1 ©PS, 1 druid and 2 ©DPS can easily be replaced by other succesfull, but non max dps comps

Non Meta will often finish content fine, maybe a little slower… Getting a decent comp together however tends to be a horrid experience and it tends to be a shuffle of builds to reach a comp whcih is working in some cases, or at least an understanding of possible builds..

This said DPS meters will show ppl not providing as much DPS.
The use of DPS meters is a big discussion, provided there is not a call for meta comp.

If someone joins your non meta comp on a build capable of sustain, with 150 AR doing continous dmg while facetanking is that a bad thing? He is putting in effort to finish the content, provides a meatshield and is obviously familiar with the content in t3/4… Albeit not in a Meta fashion.

“It will cost more time, so more food, boosters and will lower the income/time.”
- Maybe, but I’m here to relax, not to have a fulltime job again in my game.

The obvious problem is ppl not running Meta, including but not limited to:

  • minstrel(/and to a certain point commander’s) chrono’s,
  • minstrel,magi, celestial ele’s,
  • magi druids,
  • celestial builds,
  • PVT bunker builds and
  • ranged semi bunkerworld bossers)

will as a group lose a lot of time when they join up.

This is also why the meta developed into zerker and viper, (and maybe commander, assassin, sinister, (and for me also zealot (heal for fractals), even if it’s debatable)

DPS meters should be a tool to improve your own DPS, not to harass player about their DPS… I still feel proud on some bosses when I draw aggro cause I know they seek out the highest DPS, even though I’m on CPS, which means some ppl are likely to fail achieving thier DPS in my group.

I am however very flexible with players using zerkers/assasin or vipers/sinister on non meta weapon and sigil and rune sets. They might have a litle lower DPS, but they often show a good understanding of their class outside or next to the meta, change utilities to suit bosses, swap weapons if needed and providing a more flexible run…

And they tend to stick with parties better. If your group does 25K dps less then a perfect group, who cares. in most cases i’d expect all ppl to carry builds delivering DPS
I do not care much for magi druid in fractals, I prefer zealot, or viper, I certainly do not care for minstrel builds.

But if you look past this you’ll see you’ll do enough damage easily,
10-12 k for chrono,
8-10k for (zealot) druid,
20 k for condi PS,
25 for a guardian
25 for a cranger will finish you your content.

I expect ~75k for a group thats roughly 15k /person whcih is really off compared to the meta perfection.

Druid 1-2k
Condi PS 25+k
Chrono 13.5k
Condi tempest 32k
Condi thief 34k

For about 105k with a full magi healer. giving an average group DPS of 20-25k p/person on the golem, and thus in Fractals and Raids (or will they?). yes that’s 1.4 times the dmg and seeing this will be finishing content in 71% of the time it would take me, this is relevant on DPS checks (I’d run meta on DPS checks) but in all other content it’s trivial.

If I kill a boss in dungeon in 5 seconds… you’ll kill it in 3.5
If I take 8 minutes you’ll take 5 minutes and 45 seconds.
It’s not like you’ll be standing there killing stuff and take 30 minutes…

I also know viper comp will do (in fractals)
Reaper 20-25k
Reaper 20-25k
Reaper 20-25k
Condi PS 17-20k
Condi Druid 10-13k

For about 90-100k without a real healer, giving some utility not seen in the meta comp being very usefull vs more then 1 enemy, and it’s way less squishy… In this case times are comparable… and you’ll finsh in 6 minutes instead of the formentioned 8 or 5m45 with no real downtime… and if stuff dies it’s the PS and the druid….

I do not ask much and I prefer my slacker runs.
Cause I find:

  • the frequent toxicity
  • the stress over the last 5-8k/person
  • the ppl not able to grasp you do not have 18 stat infusions
  • the kicks resulting from resses, mechanics, and other non skill related issues
  • the flaming and salt and fingerpointing

often found in the “DPS meter meta” less fun.

With the new expansion, will Anet avoid HoT?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

I was wondering after the HoT aftermath and the damage it did to the game and player population, will Anet have the strength to forget HoT and move on?

What went wrong with HoT, IMHO, and should never be repeated:

01. Pricing the expansion as the full game for players already owning the original game

Guild wars 2 vanilla went F2P shortly before HoT launched. Walue of Gw2 was set at 0 euro/ dollar. They bundled the 2 for the cumulative prices 0 for Gw2 vanilla and 50 euro for HoT. You value your game still on the original price; It’s like buying a car driving it 100000 miles in 3 years and returning it to the garage and expecting you get the purchase price back. The world doesn’t work like it.

02. DLC worth of new content, not worthy of expansion name

I never felt cheated. In the end HoTfullfilled my wishes I had BUT the introduction could have been more solid and less hyped. All people fully clamped to the hypetrain and refused to jump off when the rails went somewhere else then they expected.

03. Rushed and short story mode, with a really underwhelming final battle design.

The story mode should have been more worked out, LS S3 shows they are commited to a better product. I hope this holds true. The final battle was reworked and is pretty stable nowadays, Oh, and soloable….

04. Questionable map design, not the beauty of HoT maps, just usability. Minimap system is not enough for HoT layout.

I still find the maps infinitely more fun then the flatand simple vanilla maps.
The fact Season 3 is providing much more layers shows the concept has foothold.
Also worth noting: most ppl didn’t complain about HoT other then TD which might be confusing the 1st time you get in but is a very rewarding map and simple map to navigate if you have played all lane’s factions (Nuhoch, Ogre, Rata Novus and Scar)
It also proved to be my most liked map… I still find a lot to do and fun, after the AB nerf and the slow demise of VB…. The content is good ppl just seem to have passed the station…

05. Lack of new character slot for the new profession (remedied after an outcry from players).

Well… Not going here. I got 2 in the end, I paid for one which was an option to begin with.

06. Killing the casualness of the original Guild Wars 2 in more than one way and thus making maps either extremely hard or right down impossible for solo completion.

I did the full story line on 12 characters, the better number solo. and completed the elite specialisation on 22 lvl 80s. Casualness was vanilla, A lot of players wanted more difficulty and more rewarding gameplay. I’ve seen this to be an issue still. The fact ppl bough tthe game unlcoked a package and ran into the jungle with no clue whatsoever backfired hard.

07. Nerfing the older content, all in hope player base will be forced to buy into deeply flawed new one.

Yes agree on this, providing you mean dungeons.

08. Essentially killing off PvP with tying it to the expansion.

I disagree, but balance was a problem. The fact PvP and PvE cannot be deisconnected until 2 yrs later was a huge probelm, the balance patches were always a problem in 1 of the gamemodes. The werid obsession with gw2 needing to ba an E-sport was bad and consensus still is , balane is moderate, MEta dominated due to 1 build still being superior.

09. Nearly destroying WvW which survival is still up in the air.

Disagree. But the desert map is definately NOT my favorite. WvW did get a boost and I hope it will ressurect itself. It’s a limited gamemode anyways due to the small amount of places avaialble…

10. etc.

I cannot argue with an abbrevation which has no consise points. I can state however it is wrong to imply “there are many more thing” while a lot of thing were done to improve and ignore this completely.

I feel I got good value for money…

For vanilla certainly,
I think it was a epic journey, and I still enjoy being in older zones.

For Hot:
It redeemed itself in the end.
Yes, some things are still lacking… but still being released.
And I still expect a good amount of legendary weapons.
And most if not all other things have been covered, except maybe dungeons…

I got for both releases combined:
- a good amount of zones and story
- a good amount of (replayable) content.
- a good amount of masteries
- a good amount of skills, skins and options…
- 4 wings of raids; more fractals
- A rework of WvW; even if it was late.
- QoL updates on most content
- A new experience on my characters.

As for expenses:

I payed pre purchase for Gw2 the complete digital package…. 75 euro
I played 3 years and had good value for money.
I played GW2 vanilla for ~6500 hours
In the end I payed ~1.2 eurocent/ hour played

I payed pre purchase the biggest package for HoT 99 euro
I used the 4000 gems to best ability (normally 50 euro)
I got 2 character slots (1 from the purchase and 1 from the storm…)(normally 20 euro)
I played GW2 HoT for 4500-5000 hours
in the end I payed about 0.8 – 0.66 eurocent per hour played

together:
I payed 174 euro’s,
I got 11500 hours played
I got roughly 70 euro’s of currency… (in gems and character slots)
I payed 104 euro for 11.500 hours… for just the game and it’s sequel.
in the end thats 0.9 eurocent/ hour played.

The future

I will pay the package for the next expansion.
I’ll prepurchase.
I’ll likely look into the offers.

And:
I am not feeling any problems with ppl joining now paying the same amount as I do after I payed 175 euro already.

Cause they missed out (in my view) on
- More then 11.5k hours of very nice gaming
- more then 11.5k hours of guild life,
- Living world seasons 1,2,3 (and their unlocks)
- 5 years of epic fights, in PvE, WvW and PvP
- good customer service, who helped me out in all situations I was in need of help.
- enjoyable stories,
even when all content (except maybe LW Season 1) is available and playable

Indirectly including:
- the best community I ever saw, since I started gaming in ‘85, providing:
- good fun and sentiment,
- Nice, interesting vloggers, streamers and dedicated ppl holding up beautiful and informative sites, I’d probably never had visited if I never bought GW2.
- 6(+) years of forum drama, both positive and negative, cause this game and it’s community is most certainly alive.
- new content hype, for Vanilla, Living world season 1,2,3 & HoT and now expansion 2

An investment which was well worth my time and money. But that’s just my opinion….

Perspective Guild Wars -The Complete Edition-

Then again it was more expensive then “Guild Wars 1 -The complete edition” I found in a bargain bin, standing next to a trashcan listed 7.99… I bought it for 4.99 euro after I talked to the store’s manager and I played it for 2500(+) hours… in the 3 years before I prepurchased gw2. In the end I payed 0.2 cents / hour played on this game and it was my first introduction to a Cooperative game…

I still remember lore and characters and I feel glad proud and sometimes sad if I see what’s come of places I explored, conquered or vanquished in the previous life I lived in Tyria….

But I sometimes felt behind…even though I finished all content, got 30+ points on the HoM…. Having said the previous: In retrospect: I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. It was a extremely good buy and the best 5 euro I ever spend on a game ever.

I noticed:

TL;DR: Buying is not the problem, it’s just my unlimited acces to “my personal portal to Tyria”, so I can explore and I can enjoy my stay for as long or as short as I want, for as long as I want and return whenever I want!.

No questions asked. And it’s fun to do so with others; new and old.

Mistforged Triumphant Hero's Armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

I oppose to making it legendary directly and if it would be considered to add WvW legendary armor I would suggest the 3rd armor would become precursor armor.

<snip>

I have FUN playing this game, and with this community, being the best reward of all

In the end you play a game because you like it. Which will be your game’s reward.

You kind of kill your own argument there. You said ascended gear but thats not unique. Actually ascended gear is handed out like candy out of a van now. Anyone who walks up to it can get a piece as long as they jump into the van.

At the end you write about all your ascended gear, guess what i have 9 characters and they have all ascended gear too and i havent even played HOT that much.

Ascneded gear is STILL for a lot of people progression to a new set, or a new set for their alts. Yes, I have 22 lvl 80’s and 27 armor sets and a 2,5 bank tabs for of legendary stuff I do not use… But I played this game 11.5K hours. Understand there is a difference between the ppl having 1 character, players who play 5 characters and the whales with 20+ characters… I have ppl in the guild owning 100 k gold… what do you think is still valuable to them? legendaries? ascnededs? They can buy a slot for gold make a charactar, equip it with full bought legendaries and ascnededs and start at lvl 1 story instance with opening their perm merchant and spamlevelling their lvl 1 char to 80 and walk into the instance with legendary armor on their 0% world completion characters.

For PvP you wrote titles legendaries and pre’s? If you could explain please. Because you only get unique armor if win TOL events. Anyone could get the legendary titles S1-4 which is way the PvP community was so upset. Like i had friends who were in bronze3-S1 who got there legendary titles and i didnt play S4 so they have a title i didnt get and i was in Plat 2 in S5 for a bit.

Oh yes tribal, apostle, stalwart, studded, marauder, heavy scale armors fom reward tracks are forgooten easy, and the fact you need to be top 10 to get something dopesn’t mean it’s impossible, well to me it is, cause I alrady stated I suck at PvP, but who knows…

WvW just got new stuff so way to be 2 years ahead of the curve there.

And there are ppl already at rank 9999… with a few 100000 kills in WvW…
I have been there a while beofre HoT came out and ground my 1st 900 or so ranks.

Now raids, i give it up to ya. raids got all the goodies, all the end game stuff. I agree here+1.

Yes legendary armors.. Epic… but as ascneded is so rewadily available it’s pointless as well. remember this when you are planning to gear your character in 1800 gold worth of legendary armor whcih can be stat swapped, but probebly never will… I have my 7 other legendaries an only 1 of those swapped a few times,

But everything you named was random RNG skins, drops or titles you get from finishing a JP.

Good luck getting Yakslapper…

That isnt high level content. For instance i didnt play much of S6 in PvP but i did not finish in the top 250 for S5 with a rating of 1708. In Season 6 i would of been in the top 100-150. Once again the community is looking at Anet as really? The killed the rewards and made PvP rewards more PvE with crafting so serious PvP players couldnt even make the items.

I doubt it matters much is stuff is roughly comparable in prices.. I got my free PvP armor as well, like 2/3rds of the player base at the time…

Got to look at it from the other side as if you didnt have a van with candy

And what do you consider higher lvl content?

  • CM’s? Raids? CM raids? You will struggle the 1st (few) time(s), and afterwards you’ll only struggle with new(er) players…
  • t4’s and fractals? it’s pretty average… since the potions became mandatory t4 is like t3….. meta made things all generic, and not higher level…
  • top tier PvP?
Well no real prizes here anymore… the content is as good as the meta I guess, no skill or higher levl play…
  • WvW?
Well ppl have been butchering ppl here for the past 4 + years, some guilds used to do this with full asc vs the exotic plebs, now with full asc vs full asc, but most real high level ppl are EotM karma farmers… we sometimes did some EotM with my old WvW guild and we took 12-20 ppl into EotM and destroyed groups up to 60 ppl showing this has no value either.

So in the end we get ascnededs being top tier gear as rewards, with legendaries being ascnededs with a different color. Some skins, and maybe a title. Yes. For content. Yes.

As long as it’s fun, and stays fun: you play; higfher level reeards is the fact you have a little more pleasure in finishing. when you did lvl 100 CM and the W4 CM’s just move into caledon forest and finish the map. Compare the rewards.

You play games to have FUN, the ONLY reward

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.

I agree i hate gear tread mills and would not play GW2 at all if they did that.

But im wondering why GW2 doesnt make unique rewards for X thing.
For instance a unique armor set for 10k PvP games played then 20k and 30k.
Same thing for WvW players.

Then for PvE players unique items for X amount of characters with 100% completion of core tyria.
People have talked a long time about why there isnt mini drops/rewards unique to a boss/event/ or achievement. They did it for the dungeon but then made it a item for guild mission in HOT.

I really wished they cared about the long term life of the game but they killed PvP aspect of this when they made levels super easy to obtain.

We have rewards for
Dungeons: Dungeon skins, “dungeon master” and “dungeoneer”
Fractals: fractal skins, Ad Infinitum, “Unclean”
Raids: Legendary armor, a lot of tritles and unique skins
PvP: PvP only armors, The Ascnension , a myriad of titles
WvW: WvW only armors, Warbringer , again a myriad of titles
PvE: unique skins from meta maps, world bosses….

The game as a whole: Legendary Weapons

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.

Yes…. Higher level content:

Fractals & 100CM:

  • legendary backpack,
  • unique skins,
  • stat infusions
  • Guild Hall decorations

Raids & CM:

  • legendary armors,
  • ascneded gear,
  • unique skins,
  • aura’s
  • titles

WvW:

  • Armor skins,
  • Ascneded armor/weapons
  • legendary backpack

PvP:

  • Armor skins,
  • PvP rewards from season (titles, legendaries, pre’s),
  • skins unique to PvP,
  • Ascneded armors,
  • legendary backpack,

PvE

  • Mastry levels,
  • unique skins from some worldbosses,
  • titles,
  • skins,
  • aura’s…

Gold, Karma, other currency and AP’s not included…

Endgame… what do you expect from endgame may I ask?

Legendaries = ascended
Titles, auras, skins, decorations = nonsense

I’m sorry you cannot find anything in this game rewarding to you…

But the real question would be what do you want?

Provided you know there will not be
- Gear progression (no introduction of new levels of armor)
- Level progression (no new 80+ levels)

Please, suggest something instead of saying it’s all rubbish. You are not suggesting anything , just telling it’s not enough for you.

I have 21 lvl 80’s all in ascneded gear. 1 character in legendaries, I have multiple legendary weapons, a legendary backitem, I unlocked skins for the 22 lvl 80’s , levelled up to lvl 100 fractals, did all dungeons, did raids, did WvW (~rank 900) did PvP (just Wolf, it’s not my main enjoyment).

I am playing the game to relax and play a game. I do not need to work (grind or whatever name you give continously trying to max the stats) ingame, because it would defeat the purpose of the game being a game.

I actually find running dungeons , fractals and raids with less Meta builds on less perfected gear more fun cause it gives me a challenge.
If you are wondering what I mean put your ascended infused gear in the bank buy a rare lvl 80 set and run Arah on a (non-) meta build… this will culminate in the “naked runs”. Whcih was briefly a thing before HoT launched. Maybe “naked raids”?

You might not get better rewards , but maybe the improved challenge makes the the effort worthwhile?

I took 4.5 years to gear my lvl 80’s and get exotics, and later ascneded gear, to find a look, with skins, and character looks and find the builds I like (not neccesarily Meta).

I noticed I geared half my characters with ascneded armors since I started doing raids. Maybe the time we need to do the gearing dropped considerably. But so what?

You either play a game cause you like playing and accept all rewards as being a part of the fun, or you do not. If a game is not fun or no longer fun, leave and return in a while and check if it improved.

There is no fear for ingame progression so your character will be maxed out when your return.

And as final word…

The “enjoyment of playing the game” any game should be your main reward in any game.

some class have to specific build for raidng not diffrent from trinity type mmo

True and not true… Most classes have a META build, but a lot of builds will be applicable. The use of DPS meters tends to limit this somewhat…

why not solo explore raids while u can explore dungeons in story mode while u can explore instanced story with npces in open world

Because it will destroy or at least trivialize most of the harder content now in the game.

“Because it’s a Tyria mastery, so the experience needs to be farmed in the area’s of the original game.”

exp is same old exp and u can get craftings mats from everywhere not just tyria so this crafting mastery system restrection is wrong

I can relate to this, but I do not find this a bad mechanic. The old game is also a part of the game, a nearly dead base game is not in the best interest of the future. So I think I appreciate the need for people to do events in the original game.

also vast number diffrent type bags, chest not related with game progress its confusing

True. but daily bags and map progression rewards in (meta) event maps are an important part of the game. We went in progression from

Hirathi Hinterlands with the centaur event chain to Ulgoth
to
the pact event chain in Orr to the temple of Balthazar and on…
to
Silverwastes with the fortress events ending in Vinewrath
to
Dragon’s stand with the escort misisions to Mordremoth

They are alike, but not the same… Progression was made.
And you get more bags, more keys and tokens, yes, but QoL improved on it as well.

My opinion:
This game is not like the old trinity game, like FF XIV or WoW, it was a new system. A lot of MMO’s copied parts of GW2.

As for the trinity: healers here are not like healers in WoW.
They do rely on burst heals or sustained heals, but most of all they are a form of dedicated support builds.
Unlike other trinity games, GW2 bunkers are not real tanks and certainly not indestructible, you can tank with glass builds in many cases…

The game is to -defeat the game mechanics-. And you can learn game mechanics . And it will become easier to repeat this after each kill.

Guild Wars 2 is not a hard game. It’s accesible to many people.
People who want to make it more difficult do timed or low-man runs or set personal goals. This game is a sandbox and you can do what you want, I’m at the moment trying to collect flowers… because I am looking for things to do, until the next expansion.

I did dailies and am capped, did raids and got armor, I have 22 lvl 80’s…
I can play with friends or PUGs or just walk around.
I can go and come back with no probelms, it’s a good game.

But you need to open up to GW2’s possibilities and, not only focus on comparing it to all other games, to see it’s beauty.

-the END, for now-

Hi propably problem is my english so you dint understand first part no offence

I’m not easily offended

your answer like a same type player who have fixed guild group which are high level serious raiders and do very endgame content

I have pugged ~145 of the 150 LI I needed to get my armor. Even though I have been co leader and officer in many guilds I do not have an active role in any PvE guild at this moment other then 2 raid training guilds, I pug t4 fractals.
Yes, I do endgame content…

[quote[
“this mmo u cant play solo so try game”
this is wrong nothing about to what i wanted to point

i saw that game done copy some of trinity system mmos feature while game progressed
[/quote]

Yes, it moved some healing builds (water ele’s and healing druids, as well as ventari’revenants) into Meta builds. Bunker’s were used in WvW as were some healers, so the fact they existed was known.
Some of these bulds already existed before HoT, but were not used, mostly due to the little need for healers.

agony resistance pointless

Agony resistance is a method of slowly introducing players into Fractals.
The fact all AR can be bought now does make the system trivial.

playing same dungeon with 100 time harder for gear grinding
this is endless loop and no fun

Fractals will increase in difficulty I will do t1’s in minutes and t4s in 10-20 minutes, t4’s are not forgiving and sometimes wipe groups, t1 is just the introduction.
Rewards improve with t4 giving better rewards compared to t1
And remember a game is mean t to be entertaining, If you cannot find pleasure in a game, it might be time for something else.

“Old players can teach new players”
I do not believe u can help new players about endless loop with punishment

I do however. I have run new players through fractals and dungeons, and explained the new players mechanics and often used solutions used by other players.

u have to do grind raids for legendary crafting mats

Grind…. No not really. 150 LI is not a grind whne you reach 150 you just barely become experienced. Having done all bosses 10 times doesn’t make you an expert. I’ve ran Warrior , Mesmers, Elemetalists, Guardians, Rangers and occasionally, thieves So if I did each boss on any class 2 times it might show I can kill the boss, not that I’m an expert on the class in that encounter. I’ll not be eligeble for speed runs….

pug raids hardest way

Yes it tends to be a bit unrewarding and hard to get started the 1st 25 kills I made in VG and simple raids like Gorseval and Escort or Trio via LFG…. Afdterwards I could enter more groups, but 50 is the bare minimum to PUG a lot of bosses, form 100 LI I had a decent choice.

game needs improved lfg feature like a duty finder system in ffxiv which reward hardcore player

I have no clue about FF XIV

I have a private guild hall decorated, for myself and close friends, I have all lvl100 CM skins unlocked.

I’m Unclean, but not Eternal, and only did Cairn CM, mostly due to lack of time. I do not have Slippery Slub

I have a decent account…

I’m in the understanding at this time the builds in WvW you have blinds, CC’s, Shieldgenerators, feedback mesmers, wall of reflection guards, shout cleanse eles, guards, warriors, druids, lightfields with finishers and stuff to defend versus condi builds. I also am quite famliar with cleric offensive druids , elementalist celestial and minstrel midline heal for melee squads and supportive heals like vampiric frontline offensive transfusers, virtue of resolve still has value in the spearhead of the melee…

Aegis spam, hammer protectors, earth ele’s for stability, blinds and protection… and blind necro’s…

I do not run condi builds cause in zerg vs zerg condi builds are not that great, however in havoc’s and terror groups, you will find an awfull lot of condi builds cause small groups will get instantly overwhelmed by conditions. Also I single out the builds mostly contributing to DOT with my focus group or delegate to have it done if I am lieutenant, supporting the commander… I also make sure focus groups have at least some necro’s and preferably some cleansers… I also prefer hitsquads to have a synergetic condi set. mostly because I expect my enemy to plan roughly the same.

I run a 2.7k power 60% crit 192% crit dmg hammer/GS warrior with 2960 armor and 1270 vitality, I use scrapper runes, mussels food and I like endure pain…

I used to use a elite skill on guardian a long time ago giving some invulnerability for the 1st push… I normally find the midline keeps me healthy and alive and conditionless pretty well, and when extended I find we can stay alive with guardians dropping light fields, me blasting ’m with hammer or whirling through with GS.

yes siege hurts, but unless in direct confrontation healers can take care of the better part of the damage… only poison is a problem and it’s only a nuisance… AC’s providing it at a spacious intervals with gaps and and trebbed cows being horridly inaccurate.

Conditions have a place. And a role, and can be countered… how many conditions can you clanse? Will you do it at 1 stack, 5 maybe? Or 10? Conditions are a mechanism on their own…

All I have to say I play this game cause I want to play the game,
not to mandatory grind to be able to play the game again.. and then on completely new gear on ALL my alts which cost a lot of time versus a little stronger enemies who complately deminish all the effort I spent in getting the new gear, while simultaneously destroying all fun playing all old content, due to me being the same amount more overpowered due to my new stats.

Gear mill = an illusion…

I like my legendaries, and the skins, I have also made a choice in equipping only 1 character in legendaries and keeping all my other 20+ characters in ascended….

I finished this game also on ranger first, so I did it on necro, mesmer, warrior, guardian, elementalist, thief and warrior once more….. and I made alts for WVW or completely different geared characters… WvW, condi or PvE, DPS , healers have different characters, I have only 4 or 5 characters with 2 or more armors, cause I also like alternative gameplay and other gamemodes…

1st) All available damage is to support a quick combat system…
2nd) Conditions are meant vs high armor targets (armor ignoring)
3rd) Burst Power Damage is meant versus squishy targets (no dmg reduction)

Versus condition dmg:

  • resistance,
  • trooper runes,
  • generosity and purity sigils sigils
  • condition duration removal food (sweet bean buns anyone?)
  • condition duration removal runes (melandru? hoelbrak, antitoxin…. it was a thing in WvW?)
  • plague signet and condition transference (necro’s?)
  • light fields and blast, whirl and projectiles?
    and
  • => CONDITION CLEANSE SKILLS <=

Versus DPS:

  • dmg reduction food
  • dmg reduction traits
  • dmg reduction runes
  • Protection
  • Weakness
  • Retaliation
  • Aegis
  • Blinds

Of course there are also reflects, walls and ressurects…. and other mechanics to cheat the system.

And in all cases you have dodges:

Do not tell me we have a totally invincible strat in conditions in this game because people seemingly do not want to do anything against conditions. Saying conditions are invincible is saying you do not want to look into the options this game system provides other then qT Meta builds….

hi all
returning player and no native english -> google translate

i start play gw2 for fun after 5 years but nothing change and game features go worst
5 years ago i quit playing reason fractal dungeons drama and gear progressions

I started 5 years ago.
I think:

  • The game progressed.
  • The quality of life improved, the qualit of content improved.

why i have to be punished 100 times to do same progress for better gear

If you’d only do everything 1 times the game would be done quickly?

why a daily dungeons isnt enough like ascalon

It’s to motivate newer player and older players to come together and replay content. And 1 path is enough.
Old players can teach new players.

why i have to gather people do raid like wow or ffxiv to get gear -> legendary armor

Cause you are playing a multiplayer game, a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer
Online Role Playing Game), not a RPG ((Solo-) Role Playing Game)

Its a punishment for casual players.
not fair

I think most people would know and should knowcooperation is a very important part of any type of multiplayer games.

If I wanted raid (Ii) play trinity system mmo games with jumping positioning tankin healing drama

Well… You are… but not with the cassic trinity… And you have jumping positioning healing and semi bunkers..
You could respect it as a new interprestation instead of the old stale things of the past 15 years

but in gw2 system all class have healing skills, dps skill, defence skill

Yes they do…
BUT thief AoE healing is not druid or elementalist healing.
And Chronomancer buffing is not Warrior buffing, or druid buffing or revenant buffing or guardian buffing.

i should able to chose my rotation

You can, you can even choose your own class, your own weapons, provided you do goo DPS, DOT or healing….

why cant solo raid contents in explore mode

Cause raids are not meant to be solo content. They are meant to be group content. Like high level fractals. Some raidbosses CAN be done solo.

for fair play

Fair play??? the game caters to all in the exact same manner, so it’s fair play, everyone has the same options.

give raiders a fair reward

They get shards so they can buy ascneded armor, like people playing in fractals, people playing in PvP, like people playing in WvW very soon… You can also craft ascneded gear.

give casual,WvW players what they need to progress same as raiders

WvW players will have acces to a legendary backpack very soon, acces to ascnededs and so on, they already had ascneded drops before…

give players freedom of same progress with diffrent game modes

So PvP, WVW and PvE will roughly be the same.
Lastly you can also craft your gear.

players can get a same gift of something with diffrent game mods

you can get legendary backpack with:

  • fractals
  • PvP
  • WvW

you can get ascnededs with

  • fractals
  • PvP
  • WvW
  • world bosses
  • (PvE events/ chests)
  • collections
  • crafting
  • mining

Yes legendary armor is only available for raids at this time. They require 150 bosses killed, you can kill 13 bosses a week if you gear up and join a training group…. I know there are training guilds with English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Romanian, and many other languages.

why i have to kill boss with tricky position
just hit boss behind walls or objects no fun

1st exploiting is cheating in my opinion and
2nd Stacking is a choice, not a must.

it is not skill just design problem
some example
big risen megalodon -> boss cant hit you near shore
ascalon first boss -> all party just stay behind column and shoot

Yes it can be done this way, and it doesn’t have to be done this way. also see previous answer part 1.

And why cant get exp for legendary mastery at HOT areas

Because it’s a Tyria mastery, so the experience needs to be farmed in the area’s of the original game.

absurd adds -> one shot condition damages

No not really, but most people do not carry any condition removal So it’s your own choice…

Gear in mmo must be same base stat but must have usable with stat buffs in difrent game modes

No it hasn’t you craft your gear to do something specific. If you want to do something else it will likely need something else.

example :
raid and normal world pve gear same stat with diffrent skin is gw2 uniq feature what i like

It’s good certain gamemodes provide unique rewards. I agree. PvE is dungeons, Fractals, Raids, world bosses, exploration.

my 10+ yr old AMD 64 quadcore can run guilds wars, be it at medium to low settings, at a 12-35 FPS. My new i7 3930K which is 4+ years old can run it as well it has 2 GTX 780’s in Sli and will run 22-140(+) FPS depending on the amount of ppl, combat and/or aura effects… and I keep it at 60 capped normally to avoid unneccesary heating of the PC, the room and the planet..

Expansions

I prefer the batched version, and I do not find it unfair…

I played gw2 for 3 years, then bought an expansion and played it for 2 years, I have a very large main account and am pretty happy with how it’s going,

If the complete package is released again I hope to have many new players and many returning players either from the Vanilla or HoT era’s, whiich will be a boost to the overall population and allow this game to live and thrive for at least another set of years…

I also hope to see ppl who considered HoT a bad bargain at the time (,still in doubt why as it catered to my needs up till now,) returning to buy a “double expansion” for 1 price…. and I will have HoT legendary weapons and armor, masteries maxed out, HoT elite specialisations and collections done, allowing me to move ahead without any restrictions…

I do like another free character slot, just because

I hope the game system will be able to accept the added load and not when we have mounts in a map had the amount of mounts removed in players, and maps fail due to mount-“love” We do NOT need mounts in old maps, cause we have a Waypoint system…

what If I like mounts for fun and immersion and I dont care about fast travel? Why do you think you know what all players want? Why mount haters act like you are the only true players?
its like saying we dont need new armors because we have outfit system. Waypoints have nothing to do here.

If you like mounts ingame and dont care about fast travel, we have a broom , an ascender and a magic carpet They should cater perfectly to your needs…

Guild Wars Lore with regard to mounts:
Only the enemies you faced had mounts, necrid horsemen, wolfrider stone summit and some more…. Just sayin’… The usage of mounts was associated with evil… and frowned upon by the civilized races….

Due to mounts being a lore breaker I doubt mounts would help my immersion.
I am not interested in what all other people want to be honest, I have enough problems stating my opinion… and my motivation.

  • Humans didn’t use mounts… (well all 3 sets and the expansion…)
  • Norn didn’t use mounts (EotN expansion),
  • Asura were developing a portal network (EotN)
  • Charr didn’t use mounts (Prophecies) Except maybe the enourmous trained siege devourers (EotN), but they were enemies at the time as well. SO here could be a notable point… Then again Charr were the brutal -enemy- force destroying Ascalon and taking over the acalonian lands….
  • dwarves (non stone summit) didn’t use mounts as far as I can remember. Even when they underwent the ritual and turned to stone, they all went to fight on foot. (only a fading amount of dwarves still remains… Ogden Stonehealer (now member of the Priory) being 1 of them.
  • Sylvari didn’t exist (GW2 only)

I do notice we have found a lot of improvements to the basic method of travel, being walking and running

  • Usage of airships, boats, submarines, helicopters, land vehicles, making the old mount pretty obsolete.
  • Speed boostes ranging from +5% to +33% and in some cases short burst of truly fast movement through superspeed.
  • Speed boost mushrooms catering to above mentioned swiftness, removing the need for a mount to provide it.
  • Jumping mushrooms allow travelling up vertically and interesting angles,
  • Jump Pads also for travelling up vertically and interesting angles,
  • Explosive Launch: see Jump Pads
  • Thermal Propulsion: The Lava Chutes for travelling large distances
  • Oakheart’s Reach: The jungle seeds allowing a lot of freedom in movement
  • Gliding, Updrafts and Ley Line Gliding
  • Waypoints & Portals… Hope the Asura can keep the network alive…

GW2 DEAD?

I must be a Ghost…. I still have 50% of my friendslist playing on a regular basis!

I doubt Gw2 is close to dying even. An expansion is in the works, regullar updates, the introduction of legendary armor… (read expensive ascended with optional stat swap)

As for the person in doubt… No it’s not like the 1st 3 months after release in 2012…

But dead? LOL NO!

What Is There To Do

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

-copied and modded form a post I made a while ago:-

Now for what to do….

Set your own goals:

  • do you want a character? a couple? all classes? alt-o-holic?
  • do you want to play casual, mainstream, fanatic, hardcore or 1337?
  • do you want to play META or your own builds?
  • do you want to play with a guild, make guild, play mostly solo or never alone?
  • do you want to do PvE, WvW or PvP? or RP?
  • do you want to do world bosses, events and exploration?
  • do you want to play Story, personal, living story and small events?
  • do you want to play meta maps?
  • do you want to farm or grind? or do you want it to flow naturally?
  • do you want to do instanced content? (dungeons, fractals, raids?)
  • do you want to play PvP? structured? Or world vs world? Solo or with groups?
  • do you want titles, full ascended, or a legendary?
  • do you want certain other skins?

Think it through, make decisions, have fun while doing it, and if it’s not your thin find something else to acoomplish in this game you might like…., or if all fails maybe outside. But trust me, after 11k hours, 22 lvl 80s and 9 times map completion, I can say I STILL find new things and occasionally I find new combo’s or synergies…

The Sandbox is reay to play in. some ppl want to sculpt, some want to dig holes , others want to build a fortress, some like to make drawings. You just go and see what you like… but it will require to go out and play..

What to boost for support/dps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

What to boost for support/dps?

Mostly to help my guildies.

1st:
This is a shallow post if there ever was one. please make your purpose a little more clear…

If you mean: WHAT STATS TO USE:

For SUPPORT (for Healing or Booning)
Healing (to boost healing skills) and/or concentration (to boost boon duration) for support… Combining this with DPS or conditions proves difficult…

Main for booning:

  • Commanders (power, precision, toughhness, concentration)

Main for healing in raids, mostly harmless or useless in PvE outside raids:

  • Magi (healing, vitality, precision

Optional for PvE outside raids will provide moderate healing at a significant DPS loss:

  • Zealot (power, precision, healing)

Niche for tanking in Raids, useless outside raids, unless you want to run a pacifist build:

  • Minstrel (Healing, Toughnes, Concentration, Vitality)

Potential options for condition and healing, but considered non viable by many:

  • Seraph (Condition dmg, Precision, Concentration, and Healing power)
  • Shaman (vitality, condition dmg , healing)

not for PvE:

  • Clerics (healing, power toughnesss), maybe even
  • Crusader (power/toughness/healing/ferocity
    Niche & not for PvE
  • Apothecary (healing, condition dmg, toughness)
  • Settler (toughness, healing, condition dmg)

For DPS/DOT damage (No specific support or healing!)

You’ll need power& ferocity and/or condition dmg &expertise with precision for cirtical hits.

For pure damage:
Boons will be buffed with somthing other then stats, little chance for healing

  • Berserker: Power, precision and ferocity ( for DPS builds)
  • Assassin: Precision, power, ferocity (to replace some berserker to boost critical chance.)
    or
  • Viper: Power, Condition dmg, precision and expertise ( for Condition Builds)
  • Sinister: Condition mg, power, precision (to buff dmg when overcapping on expertise)

If you mean What CLASS could I Play for Damage and Support (=Healing and/or Booning)?

Fixed in the Meta at this time are:

  • Chronomancer (mesmer elite spec) is focussed around speeding up combat, providing quickness and alacrity, and optionally reflects and stealth
(commanders/minstrel) requires a lot of knowledge of encounters, is tank in many cases making your presence and knowledge vital for progression, very low damage. Focus lies on self sustain and providing boons.
  • —> Phalanx Strength (PS) Berserker (warrior elite spec) are focussed on buffing power on allies by banners, might and other triats
(Berserker or Viper) requires minimal knowledge of encounters, buff 5 ppl to do +30% dmg without much effort, being berserker berserker is very accesible requiring devona’s named armor and a GS. Viper’s is much more expensive, moderate dmg for zerk, good for viper. Focus lies on dmg
  • Druid (ranger elite spec) are healers and will provide several dmg buffs. Grace of the land frost spirit and a glyph buffing dmg.
(Magi (or zealot)) The healing role will make or break encounters, difference between good and bad druids is easy encounters or struggles often ending in wipes. Magi Druid is no dmg , Zealot is low to moderate. Focus is on healing 1st.

Optional, but definately not standard:

  • Auramancers (tempest, being elite spec of elementalists) can provide good healing as well, but are considered inferior to druids, the discussion generally stalls on auramancer is a better healer but a worse buffer.
    (Minstrel, Magi (, Zealot))
  • Dragonhunters (& Guardians) can proviode nearly any buff in the game, have acces to reflects and can also provide a bit of quickness, doing so comes at a grreat DPS loss compared to the pure DPS role. guardian will be better cause their DPS role is less defined
    (Berserker (or (non-PvE) Commander’s))
  • (Herald/Revenant) can boon a lot but has no real place in the META at this time
    (Berserker (or (non-PvE) Commander’s))

Less intereting would be in my perception:

  • Daredevil/Thief is mostly a DPS class able to provide stealth…
  • Scrapper/Engineer is also a very versatile class, BUT I do not really play it….. as such it ended up here… and it might be misplaced!
  • Necro is a (DPS or) DOT class providing debuffs… as such it is also capable of supporting your group but you’ll focus on minimizing the enemies effectiveness instead of maximizing your own.

For builds I’d refer you to sites like qtfy.eu or metabattle.com, provided you can understand a booner has less viablility in many cases then a raw dmg build like most builds are build around. For WVW builds I’d suggest: metabattle.com

I hope I interpreted your question correctly. GL anyways

Personally speaking:
I’m still against the classic idea of mounts like in WoW. I’ve said before I had no problems with critter movement, if A-net would implemented it like the old mounts of gw1.

To the selfproclaimed victors in this thread:
Do not say everything is great. It shows a lot of things seem to be implemented to keep Guild Wars 2 viable, against the wishes of the old guard in gw2. Or it means we will get a comparable mechanic as in the original Guild Wars, which could be a very interesting application of Old Lore, and a complete contradiction to your interpretations.

To all:

  • If mounts would be added it will be more useless clutter,
  • If you need to buy ’m or buy abilities in the gem shop ppl will drop the game over p2w,
  • If they give any benefits…. Ppl left the game over the watchwork pick and the unbound tools… What do you think what will happen of you get a critter with combat moves and special abilities through the TP?
  • If everyone will get the mount it’s just a waste unless it’s a movement ability like the lava chutes, the shooting seeds or gliding….

A possible Guild wars 1 mechanic: JUNUNDU

I expect we’ll be able to train Junundu-use, if things are actually moving towards the place mentioned in some socalled leaks.

Junundu are localized life forms, only living in 1 specific habitat
It will not be a mount for the whole of Tyria… It will not give speed buffs. And most likely we’ll be travelling inside them as we were a long time ago… and barfed out on arrival… landing in a big puddle of wurm vomit.

So: No! You’ll not be riding on top…

In the end: We’ll all be pukes nothing more nothing less… I doubt we should worry about this and it would really show the ppl in this thread the importance of 36 pages of posts…

Junundu Link GuildWarsWiki

Small reply:
@Logos.1306: (Owner of the former post above this, now seemingly removed.)

You already lost. We will get mounts, and it is awesome!

Maybe, maybe not, maybe something else then I suggest, or you think you know…..

And I hope we will be able to use them on old maps becasue they are awesome and Anet will make more money that way, as I am more likely to buy mounts skins if I can use them everywhere.

I hope the game system will be able to accept the added load and not when we have mounts in a map had the amount of mounts removed in players, and maps fail due to mount-“love” We do NOT need mounts in old maps, cause we have a Waypoint system…

So stop the mount hate it is pointless now.

Until we see what happens and how it’s implemented we have no clue, NOTHING has been announced, only leaked, supposedly. Until we get ANY form of confirmation, this whole assumption of having won is utterly pointless …..

Final Words

Old Guild wars Lore was: Only the enemies you faced had mounts, necrid horsemen, wolfrider stone summit and some more…. Just sayin’…

And it’s not a competition, if ppl really care too much or hate too much and do not buy the expansion b’cause of it, it will kill the game and we will both lose, haters and lovers alike.

Confusion over new Condi hate

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PaxTheGreatOne.9472

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

People simply love to complain. They will always complain and about pretty much anything in this game.

This current balance is what you get when people refuse to see the difference between DPS and burst, when they refuse to see a point in more complex rotations providing higher numbers, when they refuse to understand DPS uptime, when they insist on their class being the best choice for everything and many other factors.

Its much more then simple complain at this point this is a death dealer for the game of gw2 to push to condi dmg base for all game types. If spvp wvw and pve (open and raids) go over to condi only the game is effectively over.

Condi has the best food best gear best sigils best utility and for the most part the “best” skills. Power has fallen behind nearly at all points of the game.

The problem behind condi is a few things mostly that it makes a passive game. It lets players spam that one skill and get the most out of it. It dumb downs rotation for most classes to the point of bot viable level. It a great deal more taxing to ppl pc and gw2 servers causing more and more lag. It comply destroys any thoughts of build divisively.

There are other games coming out “soon” and condis are going to push ppl from playing gw2. There going to be a major mass movement soon if Anet dose not do something about this. You can say its all fine all you want but its not going to stop what real going to happen here.

“Condi has the best food best gear best sigils best utility and for the most part the “best” skills. Power has fallen behind nearly at all points of the game."

Well condi can be countered… hardcountered and softcountered, as opposed to DPS

Meta builds do not bring

  • condi cleanses,
  • resistance,
  • trooper runes,
  • generosity and purity sigils sigils
  • condition duration removal food (sweet bean buns anyone?)
  • condition duration removal runes (melandru? hoelbrak, antitoxin…. it was a thing in WvW?)
  • plague signet and condition transference (necro’s?)
  • light fields and blast, whirl and projectiles?
    and
  • => CONDITION CLEANSE SKILLS <=

_Until we are at a point where you need to bring all this in your meta build I do not think ppl have any right to say condi’s are stronger. _

People do not want to invest in countering conditions, so:
Please do not start about them being overpowered if you do NOTHING to avoid them.

Being a former player of a Shout Heal cleaning Warrior with Warhorn trait and sigil of purity on a clerics set with trooper runes…. No conditions… conditions will be a minor hindrance.

Warrior (for example) can carry 4 shouts (single or double AOE cleanses (single w heal, double without)) and a res banner; warhorn are 2 times double cleanses auto has 60% chance of cleaning self…. of the 4 shouts 1 is a condition cleanse itself cleaning 2 base so it can be used to AOE cleanse 3 conditions.

SO

  • Autoattack with purity 1 cleanse 60% on hit 10s CD
  • 3 shouts cleansing 1 or 2 conditions on 20-30 s (AoE)
  • 1 condi cleanse shout cleansing 3 or 4 conditions on 20s (AoE)
  • 2 warhorn uses cleaning 2 conditions on 12s and 16s (AoE)

Now try trooper runes on your ranger, guardian, elementalist, necro…. and there you go AoE condi cleanse. Lightfields are available through gurardians and necro’s… at least…

Condi reducing food or condi removing food:

Just theory craft. and you’ll be destroying a condition user’s options in AoE even and I’d say you can hold for quite some time vs any condi build…

For a dmg build you could look into:
Cleanses,
Rune of Hoelbrak
Loaf of Saffron Bread

for a 40% reduction and -20% stun duration…

I do agree reduction food should be calculated over the total duration IMHO to balance it a bit (so vs a 200% condi duration build It should remove 40% of the full duration leaving 120%).

I expect a lot of enemies to start using condi reflects and serious condi’s themselves…
I do not mean the 1-2 bleed dangers I mean flurry enemies, so they resemble mai trin, Necro’s with plaguelands and Sc/D… Condi ele’s, condi thieves, better grenade engi’s… PU condi mesmers…

And we will have no other choice then to run condi cleanses and focus on self or group cleansing… And the META will adapt. that’s why it’s meta.

your Build will define your stats…

So it’s not just:

Pure max DPS?
- Berserker
Pure max Condi+DPS?
- Viper
Pure max healing?
- Magi

This is valid only for PvE. Only for that limited meta scope
cause people will pass by WvW meta, PvP meta, and other options cause they foirget about other options ingame

But it is wider if you check it well:
Need DPS?
- zerk or assassin
need DPS and durabiliy?
- commander, soldiers, marauder
need healing?
- magi
need healing and dps?
- zealot
need healing and toughness?
- Minstrel
need healing toughness and power?
- Clerics
need condi?
- Viper’s, sinister, rampager, carrion
need condi and toughness?
- Trailblazer
Need Everything??
- Celestial…
Need boon duration?
Commander’s
Need Boon duration and toughness?
Minstrel..

All have uses. All have places. All provide options..

I have 22 lvl 80’s

So I’m roughly where you are… I have 27 ascneded armors now… Given the fact the can be stat swapped and I’ll soon hve a legendary armor for my main warrior I will say.. yes sometimes you need a different run set or sigil replacement somewhere… It happens.

All characters are still viable for open world, all characters are still usable in dungeons, fractals and in most cases (for me) in Raids.

I have 3 warriors 1 for WvW and 2 PS-es, 1 power 1 condi for PvE/instances,
both PvE builds have roughly been the same for the last 2 years,
only the WvW build needed updating, but was okay before.

I have 3 guardians 1 for WvW and 1 for PvE/instances; 1 with a legacy burn build on exoitics; all gear have roughly been the same for well ~3-4 years now, only the WvW build needed updating, but was still okay before updating it just lacked some DPS.

I have 1 revenant in exotics, It’s a mule, and might get my cPS warriors’ ascneded set when it gets it’s legendary armor (nearly done) I’ll figure out what to do if that happens.

I have 2 rangers 1 for healing and PvE and 1 for condi in PvE
both builds have roughly been the same for the last 2 years…
The druid got a zealot armor next to it’s zerk armor, I have chests and gear for a magi build but cannot be bothered at this time. the condi build slowly migrated from sinister to viper’s and became meta recently

I have 2 thieves they used to be not meta and both for PvE mainly
1 is zerk and it’s build has not changed since launch, I am still using P/P and S/P cause I like it.
1 is condi… I made it 1,5 years ago, got it a viper’s set and started experimenting, t is meta now…seemingly. I still like it for PvE

I have 1 engineer , a Mule again in exotics. I find no reason to play it. It’s nice, It’s the reason why I bought the game, but I failed to connect to it or it failed to connect to me. It has asceded weapons.

I have 4 elementalists, 3 for PvE and 1 for other things,
1 zerk it is my main ele. It have played it with peasure for quite some time
1 viper’s it was the last oone I made I played it for about a year, experimenting with it only to find it has a place in meta now. my build was spot on, as were the weapons, I only needed 1 different utility.
1 Zealot (full) and/or Magi’s (full) healer it’s my main auramancer, I’ve ran auramancer since zealot appeared.
1 Minstrel (full) or Celestial (full) WVW bunker ele I can tak with it (very usefull at Cairn, the minstrel build has 90% boon duration with 150 AR and I’ve had fun runs while outhealing most dmg in t4 fractals. facetanking through social awkwardness anyone?

I have 2 mesmers I for PvE 1 for everywhere I like playing it, whcih varies from day to day (WvW/Raid).
1 PU condi it has been rabid, dire, sinister and viper in it’s 4+ year history. build is still the same.
1 chonomancer with minstrel, commanders and assassins gear. It is fun in most cases. I can restat an armor without much harm in the future.

And finally I have 4 Necro’s
My 1st Necro, started carrion, became berserker, later sinister, an goit a viper armor it traded with a sylvari for a trailblazer set. I now use it for WvW
My second was clerics and zerk, later zealot and clerics, I used it as midliner and frontliner healer in commander’s groups in WvW…
I made a sylvari eventually for a trailblazer necro for WvW, but it recieved the viper set when meta shifted from the 1st necro. So it’s my main instance necro now.
And lastly my last necro is only 2 months old and I wanted a berserker necro again for dungeons… I liked dungeons and I liked necro in dungeopns as well. So it had to come back… Not meta , still usefull, for me.

I maintain my armors and my runes, but it’s not a matter of life and death… Most older builds still do okay dmg. No they are not the most DPS, but they often do bring good synergies. I still use some vanilla builds, cause there are no HoT counterparts.

I am 186, have done raids, and am doing meta maps regularly because of the provisioner tokens. They are not dead.

I am only at 28k AP… I can guarantee there is allways a map open… If the expansion hit a lot of people might return to procure HoT and the new set at the same time, and the maps will get revived again.

I sucked at adventures and did ’m anayways, for legendaries, for money or mastery points.

I will be honest there are plenty of points (I’m not max in points, but am max in level)
at the time of writing

I’m at 186 mastery with 31 HoT points unspent and 13 tyria points unspent! _
_I’m missing 5 vanilla points (2 TT bosses, 3 collections (Fractals and gold fractals and ambrite) and 6 HoT points (another 4 points from raids)… I did however unlock Envoy 2 and am working on my legendary armor

5 man Parties are the always usable groups of 5 They require nothing…

  • Party chat
  • Acces to LFG
  • Joinable, Invitable
  • Needed for Fractals and Dungeons
  • kick by votes
  • FREE

10 man Raid Party[/u] -or- Squad (?)

without a commander: (Should be known as the “Raid Party”)
IMHO these should be renamed to Parties!

  • can now be formed without a commander’s tag…
  • party chat
  • Acces to squad chat? why? should be party only
  • Ability to make sub groups? why this is not a feature you should get for free!
  • No appointing of lieutenants (no commander, so no lieutnants
  • Formally no markers
  • Acces to LFG
  • hot-joinable
  • kick by votes
  • FREE
    Needed for Raids

with a commander’s tag:
Raid group with a commander, should be renamed to Raid Squads

  • squad chat
  • party chat
  • markers
  • Closed or Open squads/ groups
  • Acces to LFG
  • Lieutenants
  • closing and opening of groups
  • max 15 subgroups (10 ppl?)
  • 300 gold and 250 badges of honor
  • kick by commander/ lieutenants
    Preferred for Raids

50 man Full Squads are for ppl having acces to a commander’s tag.

  • LFG
  • squad chat
  • party chat
  • markers
  • Open squad
  • Lieutenants
  • closing and opening of groups
  • max 15 subgroups (50 ppl!)
  • 300 gold and 250 badges of honor
  • kick by commander/ lieutenants
Needed for WvW and PvE Open world and Meta portalling

Well IMHO:

  • parties should be the basic grouping mechanisms for instanced content I have no problems with 10 man parties -at all-. We should see the 10 man party instead and keep the functionality like parties.
  • I suggest the Commander’s tags adding further functionality and have the commander’s tag also be usable in party groups creating 5 man squads for small instances like dungeons and fractalsand keep the 10 man squads for raids.
  • You do not benefit from markers as much in fractals as much in Raids, mostly cause the duration of the instances and the fights is so much lower… but when you have it why not implement it’s use. I doubt having anyting other then placing your personal marker in the swampland fractal would ever be needed….
  • I prefer to always have to option to join and leave:
Having a nice party doing t4 fractals on minstrel builds will not assist in the joy I have in instanced content, nor do groups where the opener doesn’t have AR, doesn’t know mechanics, or is just asking for a carry… when you have done 25-100LI raids or have been stuck in the PUG circuit you should know. It’s allways my chouice to stay or go. I had a lot of fun doing lvl 100 fratcals with some fractal lvl 50s and 60’s with 150 AR, starters but they finished it in 3 wipes… I knew I was running them , BUT would I have done the same if they would have been an LFG group? I doubt so… fractal 100 took us 57 minutes… I normally do all my t4’s and daily recs in the same time.

TL:DR;
I suggest:

A) making parties 5 or 10 man for instances (catering for basic story, dungeons, fractals and raids) with basics:

  • 1 group
  • party chat

B) the commander’s compendium unlocking functionality like

  • squad,
  • squad chat,
  • grouping,
  • lieutenants,
  • markers.

Well somone said xunlai ingot would not be forgotten…As the are crafted with silver gold and platinum we can safely say we could be looking at legendary jewelry,

I do not mind crafted

  • legendary rings amulets, earrings
  • ascended rings, amulets, earrings
  • aura’s and other infusions

to fall under a reworked jeweler…

lvl 500 chef would be food with very special purpose or a 3rd (minor) stat….
nice spcial purpose:

  • added res speed
  • added dmg output
  • added speed
  • Added boon on crit or hit
  • roughly said a rune bonus comes to mind in foods.

3 remarks…

1 Elementalist is the most squishy characterproffesion and will greatly benefit from tempest elite specialisation in HoT
2 Gliding will allow much safer travels
3 HoT is more difficult then Vanilla GW2. but I got 186 in the end and I unlocked all elite specialisations on all 22 lvl 80’s , BUT I need to admit the more masteries they easier it gets, and you’ll know what to expect in what area’s as well

I used to really hate the pocket raptors the most. And now I do not find ’m annoying anymore… just a nice set of XP boosts…

As for easyness of play, you could go a bit more bunker and get either some thoughness or just a build that’s bunker (thinks along the line water/earth/arcane or condi like earth/fire/arcane, later on swap arcane for tempest)

What if Ascended was the gear treadmill?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

PaxTheGreatOne.9472

It has no use… we have a clear cut build up of gear
Ascneded gear is a nice buff over the exotics whiCh are usable in

Rare’s ~lvl 39-lvl 64 ¹
price:
30-50 silver per armor piece in the TP
; craftable with recipe’s
some weapons might be a bit more expensive

  • they are adquate even up to lvl 80, but a significant loss in power and armor.

Exotics: lvl 65-80 ¹
armor price ~75s-5 gold on the TP , crafted minimally 11-15 gold / armor piece; most stuff is craftable with recipe’s whcih might need some effort to obtain
Weapons are cheaper, provided you do not care about the skins

  • PVE
  • Dungeons
  • Worldbosses
  • WvW zerging
  • Low tier fractals(t1/t2)
  • As secondary or exploratory sets
  • crafted as neccesity

Ascended: lvl 80
Price:
Weapons Crafted ~50-70 gold per piece_
Armor Crafted ~55-110 gold/piece

  • preferred in Raids (due to more stats)
  • needed in high level fractals (AR infusions)
  • preferred in high level WvW groups (WvW infusions occasionally req’d by WvWguild groups)
  • min-maxing (stat infusions)
  • crafted for prestige
  • end game neccesity provided you do play raids, do high end wvw or t4 fractals.
  • stat swappable for a cost

Legendary lvl 80
price:
Armor: about 350-400 gold per piece, and a minimum of 3 months of raiding provided you kill all bosses/week
Weapons: ~2000-5000 gold per piece…. maybe a couple of 100’s cheaper when crafting it yourself.

  • usable for everything
  • has all advantages of ascneded armor and will swap runes on legendary armor
  • time sink, gold sink, end game goal
  • stat swap for free
  • skin, almost only purely aesthetic
  • purely optional…

¹) note: you’ll need to have armor withing 5 levels of your actual level else you’re effectiveness drops hard especially when downscaled. having relevant runes and trinkets is also mandatory

Final words:
This game was made not to have a gear treadmill and level or armor progression… since december 2013 no new armor levels were introduced.

legendary and breathers might seem to be new levels, but both are on par with ascneded. The name is just a handle.

If other things happen we will see this happen in due time, but I do not expect, nor require new levels of gear. Really I do not.
