The information that Martin provided after the last quarterly earnings call about this topic hasn’t changed.

Our primary focus as a company is making the core game experience as amazing as possible, through new features, content, and the exciting changes and additions to the world through our Living World releases.

What…. You do know if you, say, Cluster Bomb with BV up, you aren’t going to petrify the entire group, right?

This. BV like all venoms lose one charge per affected target in an AoE situation.

Though the idea is sound. BV + Venom Share + Thief Guild + Ambush Trap would give a solo thief player some heavy disable potential :p

How are you going to use two elites at the same time without two Thieves?

What should happen is a guild can introduce a tax and a percent of the gold you loot actually goes to the guild bank.

There’s no need to change Backstab such. The longer you take to land a backstab, the more likely you are to land a facestab instead.

Unfortunately, the d/p thief allows you to create a blinding field and stealth without taking damage. Continuous spamming of this allows you to stay in stealth until you land your backstab. This is why I don’t mind the spamming. I simply would like dodge block and blind to reveal a thief.

Isn’t it bad enough that it removes venoms (which makes no sense… I guess the venom just flys off your weapon and onto the ground). Don’t need more annoying functions. Stealth doesn’t last long enough for it to matter, plus it’s obvious they’re within melee range of you if they’re going in for a backstab so why would you need it? Are people that awful at predicting where they are?

Venoms were buffed. They no longer remove if you hit the air. Only if evaded or dodged or blocked. They used to remove when hitting nothing.

Thats like painting a Honda with no engine with 2000 dollar paint and claiming the car has been fixed.

Oh for god sake we dodge to much now? Just remove us from the game and be done with it, next month it will be that we get medium armor, month after that we do damage! Nerf it…

Worst PvP gamers I have ever seen.

the real problem is a L2 kitten ue …..but even deeper is that anet caves to them on this and nerfs waaaaaaaay too much. try buff other classes.

anet dumbed this game down to allow a more broad range of players to play it. simple marketing ploys due to economic interests.

Tell me , mister <<oh no the Thief will die if they nerf Mug , it have no evasive moves or cond removal , but now Lassarous Strike it have been buffed and need to be skilled to use it >> , how would buff the other classes ?
Should they do 3k in each auto attack , while the total HP remain the same ?
Should we reduce the tPvP to 2 or 3 ppl instead and focus to balance around that ?

We have to fight Thieves that Stealth too, we have no real special tools to deal with it infact we have less then say a class with a ton of quick AoE, yet no Thief complains about Stealth.

Just a random thought as I sit here and drink this cup of tears.

The thief is punished – s/he spent a bunch of time and CD’s contributing nothing. Winning != Stomping. If I make a bad call, run in, fight for 20 seconds, and end up running away, you’ve won. People need to understand that.

This argument in a world vs. world context makes no sense whatsoever.

Basically what you’re saying is that if a thief wins, I have broken armor and must return to spawn and run back to my objective.

If I win, the thief survives and runs 2000+ range away to get out of sight and continues about his business.

Heartseeker, the damage on this is so overpowered, as of it can be used up to 5 times when at full initiative. How to kill someone as a Heartseeker spammer: 3k, 3k, 3k, 5k, 8k, -dead- if they are bunker, they will be less than 30% health.

Thieves that spam nothing but heartseeker are some of the lowest skilled players in this game and you should feel bad for dying to them.

Hard to ‘defend’ against some random ultra high damage spam tbh. I’m a warrior with 3400 armour and was hit for near 8k by a lone heartseeker spammed from who-knows-where. Sure I was on lower health (% wise, I was never killed by the 8k hit), but I have heals and don’t blow them all the second I get damaged, but theifs get a skill that serves many functions and also hits like a nuke on people with lower % health. There’s so many things wrong with such a skill…

I am a commander on my server and I tell people to not rezz people sub lvl 80 and kick them from my groups.
Its wrong that low lvls can win with good coordination. A same skillful and geared lvl 80 can easily beat 3 of them at once.

I have a feeling you do not Command very often, if at all.

With that being said, here are a few ways:
Stun the Thief – The most obvious way is to chain-stun him. Depending on which class you are (I don’t know a lot about Rangers) it may or may not be possible. Thieves don’t have a lot of stun breakers.

The rest of your post is great, but this bolded part is extremely untrue. Shadowstep, Roll for Initiative and Infiltrator’s Strike are all stunbreaks that also create distance between you and the thief. That first one actually breaks stun on two activations for its 50 second cooldown, and that last one is a weapon skill that costs 3 initiative for the strike, and 2 to go back and escape.

This doesn’t include Haste and Infiltrator’s Signet which both try and drive the thief into an aggressive counter-attack. Or any traits relating to receiving control conditions.

Basically, the thief has access to very good stun breaks for escaping a fight.

Thieves must have SoS/Shadowstep on there utility bars to be effective, they do not get easy access to swiftness. If you count the 50% Movement when stealthed well don’t, we have to actually catch up and hit our targets in melee to stealth.

It’s 33%, although very seldom it seems to “Bug” and work at 50%. By that I mean once every 3-4 months of play.

My Mesmer may have got a Confusion nerf but she is still 100% playable and very strong in all situations, she is just a bit slow.

We also have one of the best Auto Attacks in the game now as Mesmers.

Because 2-Handed weapons do more damage then 1-Handed weapons, That would give an unfair advantage to 2-Handed builds.

Aion went down this road alowing you to combine two 2-handed weapons destroying the balance of the game forever. No thanks.

However, that has nothing to do with the claims made earlier. So what’s your point?

I know, but if I said that people would gripe the other way. Every thief knows “the +50% stealth speed trait” (i.e. Fleet of Shadow).

Is having max movement (swiftness) supposed to be bad? Many classes don’t have that speed. If they do, they sacrificed something else to get it. Often a weapon that would block or something similar.

So? Use it. And speed or no speed It’s very easy to move enough to avoid a BS, no one will deny this unless they are trolling.

We have weaker stealth in GW2, there were other games with perma stealth until you attack.

… I don’t think this is a good idea seeing as it is the highest damage skill in the game that gives no visual indicator of when the attack is. Just a 3+ second window that it can happen in a game where dodge rolls are less than 1s and most block skills are consumed upon blocking one skill (and then you’re backstabbed anyways lol … so they’re a non-option already … except shield stance).

BS is not the highest damage skill in the game, play more classes and learn my friend.

Did you notice that I used bold on “with no visual indicator”. Please find me a skill that does more damage and has no visual indicator.

When someone uses CnD you know you have 3-4 seconds to avoid being hit by a BS, easily done by anyone.

I’d love to see my SB hit for 6K damage the way you describe, but it can not. More like 3-5K damage that takes a good length of time to hit and is easily dodged or stepped away from.

And our Auto Attack? Don’t even try it. Just stop digging that hole.

If you’re a thief and having trouble with getting bags in a zerg fight … wisen up and grab a shortbow as one of your weaponsets. I have yet to hear one of our thieves complain about how many bags they get in zerg fights.

This is an excellent example of what is wrong with the thief community.

Lets not forget on average a Necromancer will walk away from a zerg with 30-50 bags, a Thief will leave with 0-5. Unless we can sit up on a keep/tower wall and spam 2.

And OFC there is an outcry, all we ever get is things taken away while other classes get new toys all the time. Engi’s and Thieves are red head stepchildren.

A good look for a Ranger.
