Honestly, my most hoped for change is probably that toggle spirit button and the survival buff.
Maybe we can discuss what they should include in longbow since they have already mentioned that they are consolidating skills in the SotG. What do you guys think should be added to LB to help it out?
@Tracker
I agree being glued to your target is great, what I’m asking for is to allow us move while attacking; so being able to move around and then still being able to execute the leap. Go and attack with a GS and move around you’ll see what I mean.
Here are my proposed changes after playing this class avidly in both PvP and PvE:
SPIRITS
a. I believe Battosai mentioned a good idea in SotG: allow a toggle stay and follow button for spirits when you have Spirits Unbound equipped. This will improve the spirits “survivalbility” in both plays while not pushing them to OP status.
b. Increase the health pool and toughness in PvE only. This will also help deal with those massive AoE attacks in dungeons from bosses.
PETS
a. Increase health pool and toughness in PvE only. This will help during those tough boss fights that just annihilate pets with two hits.
b. Pets should dodge when players dodge. Now, I’m not asking for some fancy animation maybe just give them the evade but this will help in PvE dungeons tremendously. There’s many dungeon mechanics in which if you don’t dodge, you’re dead (Kholer) and pets fall victim to them all the time which hurt the ranger.
WEAPONS
I. Sword
a. Make sword’s auto non-rooting more like the GS in which you can attack and strafe around.
II. Longbow
a. Fix the range/dmg ratio because as of now it’s really hard to maintain range in both PvE and PvP. If players are able to get 1000 range between them and their target then they deserve a better damage buff because they are out of range from team buffs most of the time and it’s pretty hard to do that.
b. Consolidate Hunter’s Shot and Point Blank Shot; it just makes sense.
c. IDK what the new skill should be, maybe that can be discussed.
TRAITS
I. Skirmishing and Wilderness Survival
i. There are a couple of changes I think should be made to improve the flow of traits and game play.
a. Swap Trapper’s Expertise and Martial Mastery.
b. Swap Trap Potency with Bark Skin.
II. Beastmastery
a. The healing done to the player from Natural Healing should be affected by healing power.
b. Add swiftness buff to pet to Instinctual Bond. This will help pet actually get to a target quick enough to utilize the quickness buff.
UTILITIES
We are lacking active condition removal so to aide this I say:
a. Reduce the cool down of Signet of Renewal.
b. Protect Me should cleanse or transfer condi to pet or maybe Guard removes 1 condi.
c. Lightning Reflexes could perhaps remove a condi.
Hello,
I’ve been playing Ranger since BWE1 and I believe it’s not in that bad of a state as everyone makes it them out to be. However, I do think we need some minor tweaks to put us on par with the top professions in all the game types.
Could you bring up:
-SPIRITS
They have making good progress with them by increasing the proc rate and consolidating the traits, however spirit survival-bility is horrible for both PvP and PvE use. Could you suggest perhaps boosting their armor and vitality to that of the elite spirit, as that spirit is the perfect spirit in terms of utility and survival. As of now AoE just murder spirits in both PvP and PvE. I understand they are scared of the OP spirit build that was present in BWE’s but the spirits will still be killable, they will just have to be focused on a bit. This will add at least one more build that I see people trying to run often but can’t due spirit’s poor survival.
-LONGBOW
This weapon barely gets any play in PvP because of the auto-attack distance requirement and barrage long channeling. Even other class weapons who have this similar feature, i.e mesmer GS, has use in PvP but the longbow can’t work at all.
-PETS
Honestly, the pet dmg nerf was kinda needed because they were doing some pretty hefty damage alone. However, I think why players are so mad is because pets don’t have much utility outside of damage (jag) and some cc if it happens to hit (wolf) due to their AI always missing; I think if we had access to some of their skills as hotkeys it would help this problem out. Also, could you ask them to look into the bird attacking animation because it takes them forever to land hits.
TL;DR: -Spirits need more survivalbility, more like the elite spirit. WILL ADD BUILD DIVERSITY.
– Longbow needs work because it falls short in PvP
– We need more control over pets because they are not reliable, option to hotkey bind for skills.
edit: added more info about spirits.
(edited by Peter.9406)
Yeah, I just did it in LA.
I would pay gems for this and other cool pet skins. ANet would make bank!
I was reading over reddit today and I came across this: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1fg6v1/four_rangers_come_together_to_make/
I, and I’m pretty sure the rest of the ranger community, would greatly appreciate if ANet would make this a tamable pet!
I completely agree with you. I like that daze idea.
You’re being to optimistic. Signets are quite good now, but spirit builds are still crappy as hell.
Spirits are actually quite useful in PvE now. I’ve ran them in the new Molten dungeon and they rarely died if played right. Plus, they grant 10% damage party wide, constant burning, if you go all the way into the nature magic trait line 4 sec of protection every 10 sec, and if you bring the elite trait a party wide heal, condition removal, AND res. In pvp, they aren’t so great as an AoE or focused damage can take them down. But pvp isn’t everything in this game.
Nope, no joke I think the update did a good job on opening build diversity.
First of all, thanks to the devs for finally implementing changes a lot of us have been asking for forever, I know I have several post and you guys pretty much implemented everything I said.
Second, this patch has opened the path to many builds for rangers. Just from messing around for the little bit the patch has been live I’ve found 4 builds in which I believe are viable in PvE and some in PvP.
Third, I have to scold you devs for now making have to choose which build I want to take up! Before it was either trapper or bunker; now I have to choose between spirits, trapper, signets, BM, bunker… AHHH the agony!
Now I understand why the devs don’t come on these forums, it’s full of whiney people who really don’t understand the game.
If you honestly hate the class that much just stop playing and re-roll something else to your liking. Unless you’re so bad that you can’t level up another character and if you PvP it’s even easier. Honestly, a majority of you guys are just noobs that need to learn to play and if you need proof that the Ranger is good, PM me in game and I’ll take you on a dungeon run and show you noobs how to play.
Those of you who say that high end PvE is just killing rabbits I bet most of you haven’t even done the paths.
PM me, the Ranger is fine in all aspects of the game and just needs some minor tweaks. If you don’t like the game, PvP, or how the Ranger plays just stop playing it; as simple as that.
(edited by Peter.9406)
Don’t cut my sentence continue it, “…meant to be played by FOCUSING ON IT’S STRENGTHS AND NOT EXPECTING IT TO BE SOMETHING IT’S NOT.” No where did I mention to only play one build, but say to focus on the Ranger’s strengths.
And if you were to read my OP I wrote, “However, Ranger still lacks build diversity in PvE and with some tweaks this could be easily remedied.” Meaning that I do believe there’s a lack of build diversity, however it’s not as bad as people on forums (like you) make it out to be. I’m coming from a pure PvE point of view as that’s what I like to play. What you’re arguing can be said for any class as they all have one or two builds they are forced to run PvP to be efficient. But that’s how it works when you are in a goal oriented play list. That’s like complaining that as a quarterback in a football team you are forced to play only one play style because that’s what you’re good at; no duh. Or a complaining as a goal keeper that you’re forced to guard the goal; that’s your role in the team to help succeed. It’s sounds like you just don’t like the PvP style, so how about you just don’t play it?
I play pure PvE. But from watching the State of the Game rangers are actually really well off coming from the top players so I think you just need to L2P.
No I don’t just kill rats, I actually do Arah, CoF, CoE, HotW, AC, and CM with my Ranger perfectly fine and am even the last man surviving most of the time. So, if Aridia, Gottejjeken, and Lyndis need proof pm me in game I’ll take you on a run with me and show you up.
I pve just fine thanks. I play well enough that I run GC in fractals. But I don’t really care about pve because bots are stupid.
I really wish they would stop saying things like in SoTG to confuse people because they’re mainly talking about spvp, not wvw or pve. The top build right now in spvp involves the ranger spamming 3 traps while circle strafing with an auto attacking SB over a node. The only reason why that works it’s because it’s a node cap game (enemies are forced to walk into it to prevent caps and due to match time contraints) which no one cares about regardless of how badly Anet wants it to matter. It is artificial, and it has zero skill involved and it’s not at all indicative in how well you can actually kill other players.
Try a trap build in wvw when people are not forced to walk into your traps. It is worthless unless you happen to find a stubborn player that insists in 1 vs 1 you.
You’re not even on the same page as what the forum is talking about.
So now you’re saying Rangers suck because in PvP because they are only good at accomplishing at capturing points and not killing? Well that’s kinda of the point of the game! If they excel at point capturing then that means they are good in a team which is the point of PvP. It isn’t a damage zerk killing class, so in that aspect they aren’t good. But they achieve what they are meant to do. And that actually does take skill because not everyone can do it well. So idk what you’re talking about.
In WvWvW go bunker LB/GS and you’ll do great. How about you actually play the class how it’s meant to be played by focusing on it’s strengths and not expecting it to be something it’s not.
Just because I’m not raging on forums I’m not on the same page. I’m glad I’m not because most people are complaining about ridiculous things that aren’t really problems. I believe with minor tweaks mentioned in my post the Ranger will be fine.
I completely agree with you jcbroe, except with trait choice because I think we are fine there if they fixed are utilities more traits would usable.
As of now they just need to work on fixing the bigger problems like the things I mentioned and then fine tune the traits later on. Just by fixing the utilities build diversity would expand so much more.
I play pure PvE. But from watching the State of the Game rangers are actually really well off coming from the top players so I think you just need to L2P.

So I’m pretty satisfied with the patch notes and it’s just typical Ranger rage threads. Honestly, Ranger is not in that bad of a position. I love playing my Ranger still and think he does better off in dungeons than my Mesmer does.
However, Ranger still lacks build diversity in PvE and with some tweaks this could be easily remedied.
- Fix Spirits
– I think the best fix would be to give them more damage resistance and remove the inner cooldown or increase the buff. (At least make it so in PvE only)
- Reduce some of the recharges of signets to at least 90
– Specifically SotW and SoS because they are not worth activating with those ridiculous cool downs
- Buff longbow damage or fire rate
THAT’S IT! That is honestly all I think needs to be done to the Ranger to make ‘em a grade A class. I’m happy with my pets, I’m happy with my traps, I’m happy with my other weapons; just fix those three things and Rangers will be great. Right now they a good class and I have fun playing it, so I can wait patiently while ANet decides to work on them.
That’s how I felt after just watching it. They talked about buffing longbow, GS, and agony which are all great. But pets and spirits need to be worked on to improve build diversity and improve the classes core mechanic.
Also, I still don’t understand how banners are being buffed yet spirits which are essentially the same ‘totem’ concept they talked about are significantly weaker and aren’t being worked on. Banner are indestructible and can be moved untraited while spirits can be killed and need to be heavily traited to be mobile. And then they are working on increasing the buffs on banners while not on doing so on the spirits which need it so much more? WHY ANET?
Yeah considering it’s been happening for almost a week already I’ve had to close out gw and restart it several times. I’ve even restarted my modem. BTW it’s still not working for me and I would really like this fixed.
The gem store has not been loading for 3 days straight already and I really want to take advantage of the sale that’s going on. I’ve sent in two reports for the problem already and it’s still not working. Please fix
Had this problem today
Hey,
So I’ve been tired of looking for a guild that is active and runs as many dungeons as I do, so I decided to start my own. I set up a TS3 server and the guild already, now all I need are like minded players who want to run dungeons with an experienced group. You must have at least one lvl 80 with full exotic gear and have knowledge on how to run at least 3 dungeons.
It’s a brand new guild so right now I’m the only member, I’m hoping to build with experienced players and eventually start branching out into W3 and pvp. It’s called Beyond The Mists (BTM). If you join you don’t need to represent until we start building a strong roster than representing would have to be at least 80% of the time so we can get influence. I am NA based on SoS, but as long as you are NA based I don’t care because we can farm the gold to all switch to the same server eventually.
PM me in game if you are interested, Pytir.
I am also looking for this, so pm me too.
I’m a semi hardcore player who can hold my in a lot of dungeons. I’m looking for a guild of experienced players who run dungeons often and know what they are doing. I’m in the Sea of Sorrows server but that shouldnt be a problem with guesting. Looking preferably for a mature 18+ guild.
I do a lot of dungeons and am fairly active throughout the week. Looking for a guild that runs all dungeons and will be doing guild missions. 18+ please. PM Pytir for info. Im on Sea of Sorrows.
Looking for an active guild that does dungeons, fotm, and guild missions. Im pretty well versed in most dungeons but will need to be taught some of them. Need to have ts or vent or mumble. Ages 19-up. Im on EST so a NA guild is preferable. In game pytur.
Bow of Truth: The health of this spirit has been increased by 30%.
Hammer of Wisdom: The health of this spirit has been increased by 33%.
Sword of Justice: The health of this spirit has been increased by 30%.
Shield of the Avenger: The health of this spirit has been increased by 30%.
Where are our spirit buffs we’ve been waiting on since beta nerf? You guys even mentioned on the State of the Game interview that spirit ranger was nerfed to extinction so why don’t you fix it?
If ANet would just reduce the cooldown of Signet of Stone and Signet of the Wild that would add one more viable build to the Rangers arsenal. Just think with Signet of the Beastmaster trait and Signet of the Wild with a 60 sec cooldown (48sec if signet traited). Same thing with Signet of the stone. Rangers would actually be awesome.
I think there should be a cooldown on the passive when activating signets, however I think that some cooldowns, specifically signet of the wild and signet of stone, should be reduced so the player isn’t punished so much for activating.
The key to spirits is placement. Spirits in Gw1 were alot weaker yet they were still viable. Postioning is a key element for rangers. This extends to spirits.
I would like to see more spirits. The problem isnt the spirits themselves its the role they play its support and very few people enjoy playing support. Even now you have gs rangers running spirits (charging straight of into battle)While you will have limited sucess. I think is not the intent for spirits even if you have the moving trait. You would never put seige equipent on the front line. Unless you wanted it to get destroyed. The burning affect is great so is the protection and healing.
So the real problem is the implimentaion of the spirit which we a community need to understand.
Yes most of you think that spirits are garbage. But at one time most of the world thought that the world was flat.
Except in GW1 spirits had a larger radius so you could do that, in GW2 they have a smaller radius so it won’t work. Also, this wasn’t how ANet intended them to play because they have a Grandmaster trait which allows spirits to follow you around which is the complete opposite.
Pet dodge Mechanic -
5 points in Wilderness survival auto-matically grants you protection on dodge roll plus boosted endurance regen. another 10 points in nature magic and you can have vigor on heal. Congratulations your pet is now tanking like nobodies business the damage that the rest of your party is now attempting to rally from. I’ve yet to come across an AoE that this doesn’t get the pet through to swap (BM specc’d).
Except you get Companion’s Defense with 15 points in W.S. not 5.
Please close this thread mods it became useless.
two that i would like to add
1.signets should effect ranger and pet by default. the pet is suppose to be part of the class. ranger + pet = other class (in theory). so signet should not effect only half the class.
2.lightning reflex needs to remove cripples, snares and roots. like the thief version. this would help with in combat mobility.
1. ANet put a trait in the game for that, they aren’t going to toss it.
2. I don’t think they are going to add that to the skill to match thieves. Thieves are meant to be more mobile than us. Would be nice but I don’t think would ANet would add it.
1. Spirits… Dunno, just remove it – noone wil crying… Instead of it give us something really useful!
2. Attack rating? Yup.
Let the pet will recieve all boons what his master got. Without any traits.3. Dunno, we are may got 2nd thief – just without stealth…
4. Longbow. Just remove stupid range restriction – LB must always do the max damage, like Warrior’s longbow.
1. Do you honestly think ANet would completely trash skills they worked on? Let’s be practical here and try to figure out a solution that’s reasonable and would help the problem.
2. Huh? And again ANet isn’t going to just throw out a trait they worked on. The trait was put in there so players would have to spec into it so they could get that benefit.
3. Pretty much every class with the exception of two necro signets have low cool down signets. By reducing the signet recharge it would add one more viable build to all three game plays.
4. I think that would be a reasonable fix, but I don’t think ANet would throw the restriction away.
1. Spirits – These things just need reworked. Honestly spirits should work like a secondary pet accept always in passive mode. You summon them, they freely roam within a certain range of the ranger, and are set to run from damage. (With the exception of the level 30 attacking ultimate spirit)
2. Need Axe Love – Need some traits that give additonal bounces, or effects to equipping an axe. 10% bonus damage is just weak sauce.
3. Any Pet – We should not be restricted to the same 5-6 pets just reskinned. We should be able to tame any non-veteran plus monster/animal to our resume. You can set it up so you can only have 4 different pets stowed at a time or something. So choose wisely.
Lastly: This is a option rather then a class change. I really wish there was an option that allowed you to auto cast AoE spells on your tab target. Yes i know there is ground targetting and blah blah but thats not what I mean.
I wish I could turn on an option, that if I have an enemy targeted and cast an AoE spell, the spell is auto cast on that target with the targeted monster being the center of the aoe.
I would totally use a trap build if I didnt have to aoe spam them all the time.
1. That would be so hard to implement why not just fix it a bit simpler and still as effective? If they had buff survivability they wouldn’t have to be programmed to run around, and plus you have Spirits Unbound trait ANet isn’t going to just throw that out the window.
2. Axe isn’t meant to do damage, it’s meant to be AoE and spread damage and conditions here and there. Not every weapon is meant to do to raw damage.
3. Honestly that would require re programming the whole class, this just seems like a fantasy. It sounds wonderful but it isn’t practical.
I agree with #2 and #4.
As for spirits I would rather see a larger range like GW1 so they could be hidden in safe spots and the whole health/armor/AOE resistance wasn’t as much of an issue.
A bigger range wouldn’t help anything much because they would still die before they got their boons off more than once. And if they did increase boon radius than it would be OP in WvWvW, and would make the Spirits Unbound trait useless. You’re not thinking class balancing, they need to fix it so with what they have and make it balanced in all game play.
Comment so Devs can see this. I really believe these changes will improve ranger so much.
There’s only four things I wish ANet would work on that I wholeheartedly believe would improve the class tremendously:
1. Fix Spirits
a. buff health and armor
b. either remove inner cooldown or reduce it to 5 sec
2. Let pets share AR with their masters
3. Reduce cooldown on some signets
a. right now some signets are just not worth activating because their cooldown is so long thats it’s not worth it.
b. reduce signet of stone and signet of the wild to 60-80.
4. Increase longbow damage
a. I’m not asking for amazing damage just a buff that would make this weapon at least on par with shortbow damage.
These four changes, excluding #2, would add so much build diversity to the ranger and make it sooooo much better. I believe ANet has the ability to make these changes with relative ease, with the exception of #2, and it wouldn’t shift game balance.

@Chopps, and Jazenn
I have the following fully geared 80s; Ranger, Warrior, Thief, Mesmer, and finally a Guardian. I have never lost to another Ranger in a 1v1, ever, on any of my toons, including my Ranger.
If you honestly think people, including myself who feel the class has a lot of issues are just bad players, put your money where your mouth is. Switch servers, and duel me, IN WVW, on all my toons.
I’ll let you fraps it, and post the results. The ball is in your court now. Send me a PM so we can get this started.
You spend the money to transfer. Then I won’t fight you. I’ll just laugh at you. Then my guild will proceed to crush you. Then I’ll laugh again.
*Peter, I hear what you’re saying. Honestly, though, I don’t understand the profession favoritism around here. All I’ve ever tried to argue was that the gap between rangers and any other profession (if it exists at all) is small enough such that a player’s skill can cross it. All of the professions are comparable. Comparable is the key word. After that, it’s up to the player’s coordination and understanding of the game.
It does exist and it shows if you just look over each class forum and read our forum. And we shouldn’t have a gap at all in the first place, the devs should fix what is broken
and we should not make excuses to deal with their mistakes. That’s like if you work 40 hours a week somewhere and every one of your co-workers got paid lets say $440 while you got paid $320, would you then say “Oh well guess it’ll take more skill in managing my money to keep with my expenses like my co-workers.”? No, you’d be mad you got short changed and ask your manager to fix your paycheck. You’re doing the same thing here, we put in the same amount of money and time into the game and should expect the same output as the other classes. We shouldn’t have to be exceptional players just to compare to to other classes, we should be exceptional players and be better than the other class with players who just play average.
Yeah this thread has completely turned to useless talk.
@Jazenn
Here are two things you said:
When asked what do various threads prove you answered, “Consensus on the ranger class as a whole. Not just spirits. I think everyone can agree that spirits aren’t perfect.”
Then later you wrote, “There is a consensus on spirits, but not the ranger class as a whole.”
I and someone else on this thread, and from what I read on another thread, think you are a troll so I am done trying to reason with you. You have the right to your opinion, and I am done trying to discuss this topic with you.
(edited by Peter.9406)
Anyways it was obvious Daecollo and Jazenn shouldn’t be taken seriously when one says Rangers deal respectable damage in dungeons even without their pets. LOLDOUEVENRANGER? While the other one says Warrior only beat Rangers in terms of damage and acts as if Rangers has something other than damage to offer…
You’re forgetting traps. They do wonders in dungeons, and they recharge pretty fast. 15 seconds for Flame Trap alone, 20 for Viper’s Nest, 25 for Spike Trap, 30 for Frost Trap when you don’t spec full Skirmishing for the final trait ability. When you DO spec, it turns into 12 seconds for Flame, 16 for Viper’s Nest, 20 for Spike Trap, and 24 for Frost Trap.
Having said that, I do have a question for those who have played some of the better condition throwing classes…how fast do your slot skills recharge that do the conditions?
Traps really don’t do wonders in dungeons because if you’re running with a good dps team most enemies are dead before conditions finish ticking off.

1) I don’t care if you can beat me, I don’t claim to be the best, and I don’t think the class is bad. Beating me would only further support what I think, if anything at all.
2) I’m not paying to switch servers to fight you lol. You can catch me yourself if your online and sure I will in sPvP. Haven’t been able to get on in about a week but I’m on now, I always like duels.
You mention sPvP, which (follow me now) is not WvW. I hope you know the difference by now, and understand the largest number of issues with the Ranger are in WvW, not the nerfed and weaken state sPvP is, where bunker builds rule because they remove so much damage so you can cope.
How can you say Rangers are fine, but you’re not willing to back it up? For them to be fine, do you not think you should be good enough to actually kill a good player with them, especially when you claim that those having issues have to be bad players?
Well you can pay money to come to my tier and fight me then, lol I’m not paying to fight you dude. I realize the difference between WvW and PvP, and it’s the money I’m not gonna pay. And yea I think I can beat pretty much anyone. I just fight people I see, idk who is “good” or not beforehand.
We should both transfer to the two cheapest servers. We’ll have to be on opposite servers. Once you transfer, I can take my alt account to your server so that I know you did in fact transfer before transfering mine.
Um, no. How about you stop trolling and contribute? Not complaining and whining for changes, but real tips, advice, or strategy of how to play ranger, since you are obviously a master at it.
Did you not click on this thread?
Quit being a forum warrior, and actually learn the game before you try to offer advice.
1) That’s a whine for change thread, not a good contribution to the forums.
2) Forum warrior? Someone who posts on the forums that happens to have a different opinion than you?
3) I know how to play well enough, I can offer whatever advice I can, you don’t have to listen.
It’s a whine? Yeah you’re a troll. GG
Yes it is. Im no troll, just stating my mind lol sorry if it makes you mad.
Guys please stay on topic.
Spirits aren’t terrible. I’m not even a good Ranger PvPer, and I found that they are AMAZING support for your team…
don’t be mean.
sorry, i fail to see what this demonstrates. except for the part where you run around with a small zerg with SoN out.
Yeah same here, nothing showed spirits are good.
Without wanting to write much, I will just say I think the ranger is fine. What some of you claim as broken, others find success with, so it’s hard to agree with you. It’s like:
“My pet sucks it never hits.”
Me thinking Huh? My pet hits just fine? There’s no way I took out that bunker guardian alone, I was specced into defense? I didn’t make those 2.5k hits?
I never said pets suck, my argument is coming from a PvE point of view where they have to AR and spirits who are lacking tremendously to the point of being unusable.
But I’m pretty sure those heavy PvP’ers would say that in sPvP against skilled players ranger pets are bad because they can easily be strafed to where they do no damage.
Wasn’t quoting you, just a popular argument.
Ok but that’s not the argument that’s being discussed here.
Yes, it does.
No, just read my post above this one.
Yes, it was a good read though. I don’t think it’s a general consensus. I never see people complain in-game. I think that the most people who want to complain come here. I’m only a decent ranger and some problems that are detailed on the forums are things I don’t have to deal with at all.

you can find plenty of others on your own.
So if this isn’t a general consensus then I advise you to tell me what it is.
And they don’t complain in game because we go in game to play and our voice isn’t heard in game, it’s heard here.
Consensus on the ranger class as a whole. Not just spirits. I think everyone can agree that spirits aren’t perfect.
Ok and I started this thread to argue that compared to other class forums we, the ranger forum, are displeased as a general consensus with broken mechanics. The ones I argue specifically are pets not sharing AR which hurt us really bad in Fractals and spirits being horrible and lessening our build diversity. I also mention how signet recharge should be lowered but honestly that would just be an improvement to quality of life and not major.
Other have argued that pet pathing in PvP needs work and I agree since pets deal most of our damage and they can easily be strafed but I don’t think that can be fixed so I do not argue that.
Again, as I said before read the entire thread before commenting please.
I have read the thread and I stand by what I said.
I think you’re just confused and don’t have enough experience to speak on this topic. You just said that there’s a general consensus on the ranger class, specifically spirits, and you then say there are no major problems. I think you’re just trolling because besides you and Chopps everyone else on this thread, and a majority of this forum, pretty much agrees that there are major problems that need fixing and most of us are experienced players.

I’m surprised that there has not been a thread, not even a mention of it in Ranger update thread, unless I’ve been completely blind, which wouldn’t be for the first time. :P But now that the spirits received 25% additional health, I would like to ask if you guys think there can be a viable (support) build for rangers based on spirits? I haven’t done much testing but I would now really like to reconsider a spirit build. The improvement with proper traits maybe will now give a new and fun build to play around with
They still die instantly..
Simply not worth using..
I disagree Xsorsus; just depends what you’re trying to do. Also, remember that healing spring heals the spirits and that the effect stays on you for a little bit even while out of range of said spirit.
Sometimes in wvw I’ll make a bunker build with spirits and just be the thing no one can kill that keeps buffing everyone and healing…I think I had runes of altruism slotted. I was able to really stack 9-12 might and actually deal decent damage for what I was doing. Plus, with LB, you still have access to all that tasty siege crowd control.
And because the effect stays on people for a second, you can literally run around in your zerg to make sure everyone stays buffed. Also, you’re super slippery. With the stone spirit, frost spirit, and a frost trap, as well as entangle, I mean, no one can catch you. It’s nothing but cripple, cripple, cripple, immobilized, cripple. There’s so many options to cripple people with this build I don’t even know where to start.
In fact, one job I had was to protect the commander with my spirit build and that included using, say, stone spirit, to prevent an ambush from getting to him.
Spirits are bad. So you pop them up in healing spring which would give about 20 sec of regen, they have a 10 sec inner cooldown so if you’re lucky they will get their buffs out twice which only last 3 sec. Then they are on a minute and a half cooldown, sounds like a really bad build man.
So your answer is spirits are still bad.
