The current meta revenant build is refered to often as the Malyx Revenant. As its the most common legend used. There are different variations of this build but all of them have malyx as a stable to it. Its just a name in this case. Hes not saying hte stab is COMING from the malyx line.
Meta is Shiro/Glint.
I believe there were more viper revs in the last pro league, and I’m sure we will see a lot more of them in future ones, so I would agree that viper mallyx is the current meta build for revs.

Probably not, I don’t think they even spent any time thinking about how to properly implement dishonor.
I have honestly never played a game that is as buggy as gw2 is. Even other games in their alpha and beta are more stable. It’s even more embarrassing that after EVERY PATCH Anet needs to put out one more to fix a server crash. To me this is just evidence that Anet doesn’t bother investing time to do anything properly and everything in this game is a band-aid fix, balance included.
Killing druids is one of the easiest things to do as a reaper. Just sit on their face and spam chill.
Just play bunker mesmer. You will win every game by just pressing every button you have.
The effect this has had on me is that I usually start watching TV or alt-tab out while I’m queued and very often this means that I miss the queue because of this. There’s literally nothing to do in the mists and with queue times going 5-10min now I am forced to afk in mists or do something else and likely miss the queue. Time to rethink your strategy here Anet.

It will also never be as entertaining to watch and the pvp matchmaking system will never breed good players as long as it’s so strongly focused on premade teams being pogchamps which doesn’t let solo q players improve. They have a lot to learn.

The game on the horizon is always going to “kill” the current game that is out. It hardly ever happens.

Supcutie already had a great thread discussing how to address the matchmaking needs. Did a single Anet dev reply to even say “Thanks, we’ll consider it.” ? Nope. They obviously don’t care and this is why it will never be esports.
Not to sound like a broken record, but Anet really needs to re-evaluate how they implement dishonor for D/C’s. If the player returns and actually contributes to win the game, the dishonor should not be 10 freaking minutes long.

Agreed with OP that revenant is way too strong as is. No other class has so much access to blocks, self sustain, evades, 0 cooldown stun breaks, a 1200 range teleport while also speccing for ridiculous damage. Not to mention that it’s almost impossible to CC a revenant because it gets 2.5 seconds of stab on dodge as a god kitten minor trait. This is a grandmaster worthy trait. I don’t understand how anyone can come in here and say that revenant is balanced.
Considering how EVERY patch in this game is followed by another “Fixed a server crash” and “Fixed a client crash” patch right after, it really is unacceptable that they slap dishonor on people who d/c or crash and return. Stabilize your kittening game first.

Yeah this change honestly made no sense whatsoever. So many problems in this game right now and they put resources into changing this? Why?
People keep saying “it’s only 1.7k hp, l2p” but try doing this much damage as a carrion or rabid build through the toughness from celestial amulet, through permanent protection from tempest auras and earth overload, through constant sustain from an aura every few seconds, from constant regen uptime and then of course the really strong shout heal to keep them above 90%. This is almost impossible for any pure condi build out there.

I guess reaper and ranger are really the only ones that don’t have some form of crazy projectile mitigation.
Staff 5 is a hard counter to projectiles so it’s really just reapers.
I only use longbow now if the enemy team has many necros. Otherwise I have to use staff to avoid reflections.
Funny how fast every other class got nerfed hard but rev only got kitten cooldown on their teleport and a few seconds shaved off the heal. OK Anet, good balancing!!
So without solo q and without any matchmaking in place that can correctly match up premades against equal skilled premades, are leagues just going to be one huge joke where pugs will be farmed 24/7?

To be fair, I have only found the reaper skin to actually deliver. Chrono shoulders are okay too but the rest are kinda ugly as well.
I think it needs to apply some kind of damaging condition.
Most of the weapons in this game have a high damaging #2 skill except for this one. Astral wisp should probably be something like orb of light on guardian staff which can hit like a truck if specced for zerker.
Druid has very strong burst healing, but sustain only really comes from Regen and some staff skills. However, that being said you will definitely be losing damage by picking up staff and taking the druid line versus another weapon on base ranger.

Is this bugged? I don’t see any of my daze durations go up when I equip it.
Perhaps there is a reason why accessibility isn’t that good and duration is low.

When I asked Grouch why it wasn’t 8 seconds like blinding ashes his response was that it was not a 1-to-1 comparison. I guess their reasoning is that since it heals too that it needs to be 12 seconds..
I actually really hate this 1s delay. Are rangers so stupid that we need a mechanism to prevent double tapping f5? This is not in place for necro shroud, why do we have it?

The damage is fine to me, it’s the fact that necros have a stupid amount of passive chill available to them, alongside the fact that sigil of ice being an “on hit” sigil is what makes deathly chill broken. There is no amount of condi clear that can currently avoid being permanently chilled by a reaper. Because of this, there is a constant 800-1000 damage per tick plus a permanent 66% skill cooldown increase when fighting a necro. However, no reaper will agree that it’s broken because people love staying OP so this argument is futile and we can agree to disagree.

Can we make this skill cleanse a condition on an ally touched by the wisp instead of healing? Right now it offers nothing more than the auto attack does and this would really help a lot against reapers which kind of own us right now.
The boon itself is fine, the problem is that Revenants can have access to it permanently if they take mallyx and corruption trait line. It is then equivalent to having diamond skin regardless of health %. That is too strong.
Just swap weapons once it’s almost done and then swap back to staff. This is my current work around.

Reduce the number of passive chills a reaper has and it will be okay. Start by making sigil of ice activate on crit, not just hit.
Ranger sword auto is the worst skill in this game. It only glues onto the enemy if you have quickness, otherwise you are just leaping around like an idiot. The worst part is that it literally has 0 cleave ability, especially when the downed body is stealthed. Anyone who defends sword auto attack has obviously never used the warrior, guardian, thief or revenant sword auto to see how much better life is on the other side.
I suspect you’re either grossly overestimating elementalist DPS, underestimating Revenant DPS, or you’ve found some secret Tempest build that I don’t know about that deals like twice as much as the old staff ele build.
Tempest is a lot better than the old staff ele.
It seems like 90% of DnT comments are always riddles like this, where they expect you to take their word as God. I also don’t see how tempest is 2x the damage as staff ele.

Just got this error after updating to the last patch. Why does every patch needs to break this kittening game? Doesn’t Anet know how to program?
So, is this still viable now? I’ve started running lb/st marauder because the might stacking from smokescale is no longer as good and that reapers just seem to destroy me if I don’t have a longbow. I’m interested in hearing what others are also running.
