I like your jibe at the end of your 2nd video, “Think of more restrictions next time”
Ok, here is one.
Play Druid in SoloQ, play as a Hybrid/Support build without Staff or TU. Contribute to a win.
You show me your druid spvp play and I will show you mine.
Huh? You are the one arguing that AF is fine, so it’s on you to prove it in a real game. I’m starting to think this whole thread was originally a troll post.
Title speaks for itself. I just spent an entire game without entering AF once. The form itself is completely useless if you are running a condi build and not using staff.
okies vid is uploaded.
0-100% AF in ~13sec, No Staff, No TU, No Allies
Show us a video of you doing this in a real PvP match, not some fight against NPC’s. Also, do it without verdent etching. This is what people want, actual AF generation without sacrificing their builds to pickup staff or glyphs.
oh, you found a way to reach this one without rank 2 hylek mastery?
we just won’t let you click it.Lol this right here. kitten move anet. kitten move.

My initial impression: Druid is absolutely awful. I was hoping to run some condi variant but now that CA doesn’t recharge with condi damage and TU has a 40% reduction in AF generation, Druid is dead to me. Time to find a new class.
Anyone else didn't get their character slot?

Nope, Me neither.
Is the resurrection active also on a 1000 range? Otherwise it’s impossible to rez someone due to the cast times involved with the spirit.
Totally agree, why do we need to charge this thing if it’s already on a cool down. I don’t think Anet will ever get AF generation right, please just remove the whole concept of AF.
RIP Druid. Without a staff, the druid is basically worthless since AF generation is abysmal. With a staff, the Druid does absolutely no damage. It serves absolutely no place in PvP right now, and probably the same in all the other modes.
What is the rationale for not doing something like this for our pets in PvP? Does Anet have any idea how much aoe is in HoT? How do you keep a pet alive when tempest overloads their air attunement? Or how about when a reaper uses any shout? Guardian traps? We need some kind of passive damage mitigation for our pet in PvP too…
Definitely go settler or carrion, with settler being the safer choice. However, the build you have now is pretty yolo to be honest. Any necro will easily transfer your trap condis and insta kill you. Drop poison master and use EB, and swap to tankier pets: either drakes or dogs. Pickup quick draw as well, the potential of a double bonfire or double split blade is extremely strong. You can also use quick draw defensively to spam evades when under pressure.
Consider dropping a trap and pickup a stun break instead. I recommend dropping spike trap, it’s very easy to counter by pets, minions, clones or a single dodge, and pickup signet of renewal instead. For sigils, I like double geomancy / leeching but it’s more of a preference here. The damage modifier sigils are only useful in PvE and geomancy is too good to pass by. Energy and leeching can be interchangeable though.
In summary, you have a lot of damage here but you will die very very fast with only healing spring and no stun breaks.
I may be the odd one out, but I actually like the stance as is. Gives it a unique feeling. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t care too much if it changed though.
They have the potential to buff every members dps by over 40% alone in a group
Could you provide some more information on how you got 40%? Does this include the new grace of the land trait? Because if so, you are sacrificing 100% of your own dps to stay in CAF
Why are people so obsessed with zealot on druid? You are losing a lot of damage for a slight increase in healing. I think sinister or berserker will be the way of the future even on druid.
I usually go longbow+greatsword, yes. Of course, sword does more damage but like you mentioned he has the capability of one shotting you so don’t bother taking the risk. A dead ranger is 0 dps regardless of your weapon.
Honestly, sword/wh provides very little pressure even with 25 stacks of might. You lack a block, any type of escape or gap closer and 0 cc on that weapon set. I’d rather have GS with 0 stacks. You also only have 2 condi clears here, which means you will get rekt really fast by anyone with condi damage (basically any ele, engi, necro or guard these days).
I don’t actually agree. Companions might is awful in PvP, the might duration is only 6s and our attack speed in bad for any weapon set. In PvE, resounding timbre is pretty awful. I think they are fine as is. Also I find natural healing to be really good for keeping pets alive in PvP. It’s around a 400hps sustain.
So this means that if your pet has 25 stacks of might, even if all of the stacks have say 1s duration, then they become 10s of 25 stacks of might on the Ranger? Ok, I guess so.
You need the might when you can actually do something with it so I doubt you will actually wait with your heal until your pet has 1 sec left just to run around with 25 stacks.
You do it when you can actually make use out of them and don’t think using the heal like that will kill you. Do you really play ranger in pvp? I alwas read your comments and they imply that you have no clue how actual matches work.
Lel ok? I don’t know why you feel the need to slander me when I just asked a mechanic question. I never said anything about waiting to heal until there was 1s left, I just asked whether the 1s stacks would be increased to 10s on the Ranger. Thanks for the laugh.
Yeah I’d like to see that clarified as well. He said duration doesn’t matter and then he said it will last for 10 seconds after using WHaO to transfer boons.
I take that to mean if we have 1 second of might or 15 seconds, the transfered might will always be 10 seconds.
Are the other boons getting similar treatment? Maybe not 10 seconds for boons like protection and quickness but maybe something like 5 or 6?
I think this is how it already works for the other boons, but it’s capped at around 2-3 seconds. As much as I would like to see those increased, I worry if increasing protection duration would be OP? I believe most skills in this game that grant protection typically cap out at around 4s.
is this 8v8 yet, are archers useful, did you shrink the map, why is there a treb, or is there less PVE?
a lot of us are finding SH boring in the 5v5 format. in fact, most experienced pvp’ers stopped queueing for SH during BWE3 and took their elite specs over to conquest. out of 25 games i played that weekend, only 3 were in SH before i got bored.
i hope this feedback is helpful in some way…i’ll probably watch this tourney to see if it’s at least more fun to watch than it is to play.
Basically this. Also, the last stronghold tournament we had was boring beyond belief. I doubt this will be any different.
Agreed, seed of life needs improvement. If it was quick, then you could actually replace wilderness survival with this trait and actually use glyphs. As it stands now though, you will die from burning before your clear is activated.
And when it’s not 5 man vs solo, it’s 3+2 premade vs 5 solo. Always screwed.
4 balance patches a year. So, wait 3 months and maybe the condi damage will be nerfed just like D/D ele was…
Hmmm, new amulets. Aside from zealots, anything else you folks think would be interesting?
Dire with perplexity runes.
Basically every condition in the game has some unique feature to it, except for bleeds and burning. Both do exactly the same thing, but burns are vastly superior so what exactly is the point of having bleeds in this game any more?
I assure you Ranger can be viable at least at the AG-midESL level, you must not be playing it right lol.
Except that will not be pro league level, which is what this topic is about…
Especially if Roy is part of the dedicated skill “balance” team.
I honestly think the ring of fire change was actually a buff. The burning is now unavoidable when it’s cast. This was never the problem to me, it was always the insane sustain d/d ele has which wasn’t even touched.
Anyone else bothered by the fact they still haven’t added solo queues, yet they keep doing this sort of stuff?
Maybe the numbers indicate that premade are not as big of a problem, as the small sample size on the forums seem to indicate?
Maybe you are right, but there is no reason to assume so YET. Not to say I wouldn’t mind a soloQ either but I doubt they will do it.
It will become a much bigger problem once premades start farming pugs in the new league system. RIP all solo queuers.
Solid changes all around, but as long as Glyph’s don’t have a single stun break I will never use them. And no, the stunbreak while in celestial avatar form only does not count.
Can I craft Dusk, but still use the old legendary recipe? I have all of the gifts ready, but I’m trying to figure out whether I should buy the precursor now or wait until HoT is released to craft it instead. Thanks!
Not just bugs, but the first few months are going to be unbalanced as kitten knowing anet’s speed on balancing.
Stability is given out like candy in HoT, I see nothing wrong with this trait + druid. However, for the sake of discussion I think the ICD is appropriate since I would prefer that over a nerf on CA #3.
But why are we asking for nerfs already….?
Nothing new in this thread except another noob getting rekt by a ranger and asking it to be nerfed again.
Anet fixed a bug in a recent patch where you couldn’t use taunt while you were in downed state. They fixed it so you could. I’m pretty sure it’s intended if they are willing to fix something like this.
The funniest part of all of this is that Irenio explicitly said that Anet was going to start addressing some of the Ranger concerns at twitch con as well. Well, just another lie from them it seems.
Improving the Ranger class doesn’t make money for Anet. Expect nothing except Druid improvements from here on.
You would need to actually run the numbers but this rotation seems optimal to me. You don’t want to waste energy on anything except impossible odds while in shiro so that you can keep the quickness up.
It’s honestly not a big deal. ANET makes money by selling keys on the gem store, so why would they give them out in a repeatable reward track? I’m fine with it like this, it’s not like we’re losing anything.
- Enter any PvP match with your ranger as a spectator
- Spectate another ranger that has access to their pet
- Press “K” to open up pet management and select your two pets
- Enter a match or HotM to check if your pets will be summoned
God kitten , I don’t know how you figured that out but it worked. Thanks!
Anyone have this problem? I entered HoTM and suddenly my pets are permanently gone and I can’t open the pet menu either. Combat won’t even bring them back.
Don’t be naive, nothing will change in HoT.
According to Anet, PvP population is better than ever. However, they won’t show us any numbers to prove it. Queue times have nearly tripled in the last few months for me so I can’t believe anything Anet says to be true.
People think ele is no longer op, but if anything it’s the same as before. Might stacking is more challenging but you could easily stack 25 might before June 23 and you can still do it after this Nerf. Vigor in general is no longer that useful so that Nerf is very minor. And the ring of fire change is basically a buff since it’s now unavoidable to be burned. I really think what makes d/d ele so strong was never it’s damage but it’s insane sustain.
See it’s over generalizations like this that is why you aren’t ever taken seriously by developers. Not everyone can self-stack to 25 might. Many classes can get some stacks, but very few can actually reach let alone sustain 25 stacks of might.
Necros, Engis, Eles, Warriors and now Revenants can all stack might to 25 fairly easily. That’s over 50% of currently available classes in this game, so definitely not “very few”.
How would this even work? We get access to the new virtues and a longbow? No, thanks.
All valid points, but the TU point needs more discussion. I would be okay nerfing it ONLY if we are provided another way to build up AF without staff. As you mention, there is little reason to take staff at all, and if TU is nerfed then this is the only real way to build AF and will certainly hurt the class if we are forced to take it in it’s current state.
Why would you want to nerf out best heal, which is an average heal at best? What use does that do. If you want to nerf how fast it is to get into cele form then nerf how much heals improve cele gen. Right now its at 20% per heal.
I’m not suggesting we nerf TU, I’m simply responding to the OP’s suggestion on reducing AF generation from TU. To me, this is only acceptable if the AF generation from damage went up to compensate.

Don’t expect any statement from a dev to be truthful here.
….or we just leave it alone and have one nice thing that works for once and works better then what others can bring to a team? How about that
You must not have played engi for long. HT has been good since launch.
2,5 years and what does my playtime have to do with the HT?… That its a good working and relyable thing? Yea? So? Cant we have that one nice thing?
“That one nice thing”. LOL. How about all the other nice things Engi’s have? Have you even seen scrapper gameplay? Running around with soldier toughness when using a maurader amulet. Sustaining 450 hp/s. Instant burst heal with HT and the hundreds of leap and blast finishers. Oh, and did I mention you guys have perma swiftness and perma 25 might stacks and a huge uptime on stability with elixir B? Yeah, engi’s only have “one nice thing”.
