i’m doing hard mode liite.
get all my warrior/thief wins for the achievements after I division up, so i don’t lose progress, all else is non-elite spec stuff. still horrid tho
edit: this shatter mes life makes me wanna die

Reminder to all that Ranked and Unranked have different MMRs; your unranked didn’t influence your current ranked, and your ranked decayed over the course of its being disabled for the past few months, or however long it’s been.
It will take some time for it to normalize. Not saying the implementation was the most solid, but it’s where we’re at.
I HAD this issue as well, 50/50 here.
Relog into your gw1 account, hit the HoM real quick and then leave it, log out, log back into gw2—I got all my HoM stuff back instantly.
so the higher leagues would have a better chance at some skins
I believe this was already announced in the introduction blog post
I would like if the league you were in post-launch affected the gold gain by flat multiplier based upon what league you are in. The gold gain was always kind of low from winning matches, presumably to combat botting or farming in pvp matches. Obviously, this is a system (leagues) that would prevent widescale ability to bot or farm.
I am of the belief that the higher ranking one achieves in leagues, the higher their gold-gain should be, perhaps at the highest level, on-par with dungeon running. This is just an example, perhaps more, perhaps less, but I think it is important for people who main pvp to feel like it is an attractive gold-gaining opportunity, outside of the immense RNG of reward tracks.
EDIT: This probably goes without saying, but this is a system which I assume would be implemented after the verification that leagues work the way they are intended to, and that it isn’t just akin to rank grinding. Once it is shown to work as intended, then the modifier could be implemented based on one’s performance.

This is for weapon and armor currently – weapons use the same recipe as armor to stat change except they use inscriptions to allow you to change instead of insignias.
Alas yes it does destroy the runes and sigils in the item, the mystic forge doesn’t currently have a way to allow us to do this kind of stat changing without it working that way.
Also: Shout out to Matt P and Linsey who did all the hard work to make this possible
very cool change. Will this change also include ascended pieces won in the ladder season? Afaik, these don’t currently contribute towards the ascended accoutrement achievement—I would be willing to forge-convert them to one that would, given the opportunity.
It is morally fine, too. I have pity (actually not, it was their choice to waste so many hours on it) for the people who take pride in getting the achievement the long and tedious way.
whatever you believe is fine by me, but without the journey (just straight up grinding the kills) it’s just another thing you own. You don’t have the experience of earning it in any real fashion. Achievements are as much a reflection of where you’ve been as they are the prestige of showing them off. I guess I just don’t see the same amount if inherent value if you take an achievement that is supposed to be dedication and go farm it out ‘the easy way’.
To each their own I guess.
I decided to stay late and send everything. I’m caught up to any event that had been submitted to me before today.
I have a list of about 10~ individuals that had incorrect emails/accounts, but I’ll follow-up on those next week.
Have a great weekend, and enjoy your llamas.
I’d like to apologize again for being an kitten in Storm’s chat with you last night. It must suck to have to do all of the prize stuff yourself on top of all your other duties. I appreciate what you do for us.
Me being a very terrible player, I feel this would just cause me to get repeated dishonor votes because I’m not good and die a lot. PvP already discourages me enough by repeated deaths, I don’t need repeated deaths and repeated mocking of said death.
I can only go about 3 matches before I want to kill myself now from feeling like a total failure of a human being from dying repeatedly and not being of next to any use. I just want a larger map size please. Thats it, just a larger option of map size so that my constant deaths doesn’t cost the entire team a loss nearly every time.
this makes me really sad. i might be able to give you some help if you want, pm me in-game if you’re interested.
won’t likely be anything anytime soon. I would imagine the best option if you don’t like anything else would be the maguuma wastes track—gives everything the other ones do, plus map currencies so you can either hop into chest farms (with bought keys) or trade them in directly for obby shards or gear bags, or whatever you want.
They’re (for whatever reason) very ambivalent about people actually being able to make money from pvp.
I did not receive any response for the above post so I decided to document a single night of solo que and post something that was louder than the previous post. Please watch this video and support this thread if you are experiencing the same kind of problems with the current MMR algorithm
few notes I saw in the video
- why do you seem to have screenshake on?
- just because someone isn’t wearing a pvp title doesn’t mean that they aren’t high-ranked. I hate the pvp titles since the rank “overhaul” because I think they’re cheap and mostly worthless. I wear my HoM title because I’m actually proud of that. I don’t even use a finisher. To the random onlooker, I could be a rabbit for all they know.
- The thief got nuked out in the quarry 2v2 because he’s a zerker thief. You’re a condi ranger. Of course you’re going to take a toll against 2 thieves, you’re bunky as hell and your condis wreck their 1-2 condi removal abilities
WITH THAT SAID
I’m still with you 100%
There have been mentions of this since the December patch, but nothing concrete has come up. It doesn’t happen to many people.
Maybe there is something different about your hardware, or the type of match you were playing in, or the specific data attempting to be shown on the scoreboard.
this happens to me pretty much all the time, and you’re right, it has been since December. It isn’t one specific match, it’s a constant problem. I doubt it’s lacking hardware, I have a pretty solid build
For awhile now, I’ve been waiting on another 50% char slot sale. I still need 2-3 more to round out my account (depending on whether we get one for HoT or not), and this has led me to check the TP pretty much daily for promotions. It would be nice, if I could put a flag on items in the gem shop, for it to send me a mail when any sale goes up on any item I have wishlisted.
This would have the added benefit (if given the proper support) of Anet being able to pull metrics on the most-demanded items to throw a sale up on, and further tailor their sales to what the players are looking to buy.
(edit) would also be nice if support was added to see other peoples’ wishlists. People could gift eachother items that they know they actually want, if someone were feeling generous, or if that person had gone awhile out of their way to help a player.

Invis bug isn’t hacking, it’s a bug that’s been around for at least the last few months.
My guess is, since most top players snob the leaderboards anyway (for obvious reasons), most high-rated teams don’t have that stellar of an MMR, so the algorithm sees them as just average players together in a premade. Maybe 1-2 high rated players and the rest average, and then the algorith looks at your pugmade and says that, on the whole, you have much higher mmrs. But that’s just because you’re playing rated regularly.
I’d have to imagine that there isn’t really a way around this situation, short of manually adding a handicap to teams that place well in ESL/G4GW2/WTS
Ugh.. all these lamas suck… what an underwhelming and unexciting pvp reward :/
Like, even a title would sound more exciting to me or maybe some proper rewards like weapons skins
PvP, having terrible rewards? omgnowai
I really need to specify ‘something useful’?
with suggestions like yours, I may as well add the option to just trade them in for Instant Repair Canisters.
If you don’t like them that much, just delete them… You got it for free after all.
If you don’t care what you get to do with them, just waste them on skinning and re-skinning… Other wise save them, maybe some day you will change your mind and be glad you have a bunch of them.
Yes, thank you for summing up the fact that I would rather not randomly waste my charges or rolls upon the Black Lion chest login reward.
Now, moving on from that point, I would like something to actually DO with 300+ charges.
To me, they are literally worse than nothing at all, because I have to go through the hassle of the ‘safe delete’ system every time I get one. Which is most weeks. On 3 accounts.
Why not just keep it then the moment you die, just it? Then you don’t have to destroy it.
Otherwise I don’t think the 27ish key strokes is going to kill you.
As for the trans charges, they can’t be getting in your way with inventory… So whats the problem?
for the repair canisters: they’d take up inventory space, and are not worth even 1 slot.
for the transmutation charges: because they keep accumulating, and I keep getting “rewarded” with them every time I pvp. They keep getting added to a bigger and bigger pile, and it seems like a waste. I don’t care what I get to do with them, just anything would be super.
I think you meant OCD.
I think I didn’t.
OCD (to me) would be obsessively nailing down a look until you think it’s perfect. I don’t even think that’s possible for me, given how few armor sets I actually like the aesthetic of.
ADD (to me) would be deciding on a look, changing it 30 min later, and then 30 min later again.
So which one have you been diagnosed with by a medical professional and which one are you just talking about like it’s a feeling or mood you can choose to let happen?
As someone with ADD and who has lived with a person with OCD, I’d say your problem isn’t either. (to me) It seems like you’re turning actual mental disorders into trivial adjectives.
Please randomly project on the internet to people you don’t know anything about about how they are belittling your disorder.
The common American lexicon uses ADD/OCD to describe a situation in which the ‘average’ person may find themselves. While I apologize if you were offended, I only gave examples to how I would assume those disorders played out with respect to Fashion Wars 2, I didn’t claim to have either one or attack anyone who did.
As to hoarding, there’s nothing for me to do with them except blow them fruitlessly on looks and armors I don’t want? whoopee.
saving 10s thanks to repairs was a so-so reward before. Now that they’re free, it’s literally worth more inventory space to delete them and forego the “convenience” niche that they have. I don’t think teams wipe 7+ times anymore in fractals, and even if they did, you can char select->log in->repair for free->reenter
Yep, I never said it was a great super useful item, I just said they have some use. They are better then nothing at all.
To me, they are literally worse than nothing at all, because I have to go through the hassle of the ‘safe delete’ system every time I get one. Which is most weeks. On 3 accounts.
You get something for free just because you logged in and you are complaining about it?
They actually do have some use for fractals or saving yourself a few seconds on running to a repair station.

In the same vein, why is “Instant Repair Canister” still part of the Black Lion login chest? It seems like more of a punishment than a reward, making me type out the whole kitten name every time I get one to delete the trash.
I have 300 of the kitten things since pvp doesn’t reward its players very well. And since I’m not ADD about my character’s looks, they never get used. It’s pretty dumb that this “reward” just sits there. I wish I could do something, anything with them. I’d give them out for free if I could.
Something.
Anything.
This is dumb.
“Anet’s way of motivating players after so much work is giving a special mini pet”
And with these words he left the esports convention with a trail of competitive players from other games laughing on the ground.A-net, do you need suggestions for good rewards? If your goal is to motivate players to keep playing gw2 and have a bigger pvp community (which it should) this is not working as intended.
since PvP is their lovechild.
If you think you are being neglected as a PvP player, you dont want to be a WvW player. Its like 20 times worse for WvW. And if Anet does something its usually the opposite of what the regular WvW players asked for.
I’m both, and neither is a picnic. But you make it sound like pvp is skating on rainbows made of ice cream. As though pvpers aren’t annoyed by the kittenshow they are also experiencing.
Why are areas we’re told are nightmarish and true threats to all – such as Orr and the Dragonbrand – nothing more than minor annoyances or simple crowd control tediousness? They should be more like the Realm of Torment or Ring of Fire.
To be fair, Orr was pretty nightmarish before it was rebalanced.
since PvP is their lovechild.
I really, really like this idea.
I’m at a point now where the reward tracks do nothing for me anymore. I’m out of dungeon tracks, and don’t want any of the skins from the region tracks, apart from Dry Top, which I now I have enough crates to create that full collection.
I was just thinking last night that they need a new reward track that has some replayability after you run out of the region/dungeon track collections. I currently hate the look of glorious, so have not had any interest in this track. It would also be nice to be able to use something other than blues when I do Key farming.
Bear in mind that “play as hard as you can till the end” only matters if you score over 200. Anything under 200 is the same as 0 in the algorithm. So, if it’s like ~300-60, then unless you just lordrush, there’s little point in trying to make up the extra 140 pts before they make 200 when you’ve been getting rolled all game.
not sure how much longer i’m going to be playing this game.
PvE is braindead, and dead in the water until HoT anyway
WvW is so stale that 100-year-old bread is fresh by comparison
PvP matchmaking is horrendous and my win percentage in ~last week has plummeted from about 53% solo queueing to under 40%, with pretty much the exact type of players that everyone else has been saying over and over again.
I’ve been treading water in the LBs at r25-30 completely solo queue, but I don’t care about a llama and I definitely don’t care about GH armor.
It’s gotten really bad, and I can’t see any reason to stay around or really do much of anything anymore in this game.
I’ve been experiencing this bug again
Updated 4/7/15 6:06 AM PST | Next Update 4/7/15 7:06 AM PST
3 days ago I was 178-155, 53.45% win rate
now I’m 203-195, meaning I’ve gone 25-40 in the last 3 days (38% win rate). The terrible rotations, the completely getting cleaved out in seconds, the ridiculously dumb builds, I’ve seen so many horrible things. I’m losing points hand-over-fist because my teams get annihilated then call gg and stop playing.
I have no idea what the hell happened but I’m so ready to quit pvp altogether right now.
(edited by Pinkunicorn of Dethecus.3217)
the games played isn’t the only difference. the amount of difference in score per game can give different point allocations.
I.e. – if you lost a game 15-500 and recieved a -2 for it, or if that happened a few times, it can be a massive difference between two peoples’ ladder points received.
As an FYI to Evan, I think that there is something seriously wrong with the algorithm after this morning.
This morning, as a full pug group, I faced a 4made twice in a row. They were good players. If I had a full premade, it would have been a helluva fight. As it wasn’t though, my team got leveled. I was able to hold 1v1s on points, but typically only until they inc’d on me and I’d lose the cap, or just get straight ganked out. So, pretty sure I lost both those matches in the 500-150 range. I also lost 2 points for those games, which seems absurd. Even an average 4made will easily beat a full pug that handily, if not worse. You can look at the match history this morning, they were the last two games I played before posting this.
I can’t reconcile how your algorithm expects anything better than a 50-500 loss in the circumstances I experienced this morning.
I guess thanks, because I realized that I’d rather go hit the gym than get farmed all morning, but I’m fairly confident that you probably don’t want that mentality to become too prevalent. I’d imagine that you’d actually like players playing your game, but hey, I’m not a developer.
When people lose, they always blame their team mates being bad and/or solo queue, the other team are premades and queue together.
I think it’s pretty easy to gauge oneself against their teammates and their rotations, and recognize when they’re out of position or doing something incredibly stupid. It’s not always the case for all people, but I know that I’m a better player than the guy who just brought his Black Bear pet into a match, or the other team’s ranger who was LB/axeaxe condi (yes this did literally just happen)
(edited by Pinkunicorn of Dethecus.3217)
literally every game I lose, I am now losing points for. So apparently, your algorithm believes that I should literally win every single game I play.
Sounds super legit, guys.
I maintain a pretty consistent 60% winrate, changed your post I see unicorn.
How did you do that without getting the edit thingy?
i have absolutely no clue. It was just that I said ‘reductio ad absurdum’ first time, and meant straw man. As to your point, I didn’t even notice that lol
I agree I only want to play if I win, I shouldn’t lose I pay play game so I should win no loss because I play my way and my way I win because I pay so I should no lose because I play my way and my way no lose so I win because I pay
Pretty nice straw man argument you got there tho
WOWWWW
i just lost 5 points in 3 games after like a 12 game winning streak, almost completely undoing all the work of those 12. Unfreakingbelievable. I get the most obscenely stupid teams I could imagine and still try my best with them. Tell them what to do, where to be, be as positive as I can while watching them run around like headless chickens. And I lose 5 points in 3 games.
ANet, you are so freaking frustrating.
(edited by Pinkunicorn of Dethecus.3217)
I agree with one of the posters who said if our points are going to be assigned based on our chance to win we should probably know if we are expected to win or lose before the match begins. It would also probably clear up a lot of these posts.
I’ll +1 this.
I would probably do something to reduce the same questions that come up over and over. In this case, displaying whether or not a point is gained at the end of a match. Show odds of winning along with it.
Showing odds of win before the game starts could discourage a team, even make a person go afk, because they “think” they have no chance.
Currently the ladder is a ‘beta’ season. We are testing numbers, but this is not the feature complete design. This means things are missing that will be included later.
will this include a more compelling reward structure?
Assuming all players are equally skilled, being in a full or partial premade will give you considerable advantage over pugs. Don’t think the current match making system even accounts for it and if it does then not enough. Synergy of premade can be strong.
people say this, but i will queue with guildies on their first time in pvp. actually, most if the time i’m the strongest player in my premade and have to carry. it can just be pals doing pvp for fun and no a super serious squad.
i never blame losses on a premade. it’s either i goofed, or it’s that the people i have on my team would be better suited to sucking nutrients off the bottom of a fish tank.
have you considered that perhaps ranked queue is not the place for complete newbies? I’m not trying to be rude, but I can’t imagine it’s a very conducive environment for their learning. Unranked would probably be better.
It doesn’t seem right to me that if you are within 100 pts of the winning team, i.e.—400-500 or closer—that you should lose points. Especially if said team has at least one groupqueue in them. Even if their MMR/skill is lower, the communication factor is pretty huge.
i’m also experiencing it not updating:
Next Update 3/30/15 6:47 AM PST
edit: it finally kicked in with the latest update 3 min ago. It seems to be the case more of than than not, that it does not update when it says it will lately.
(edited by Pinkunicorn of Dethecus.3217)
Still loosing (-14)
Pvp and season were already underwarding in comparison to efforts, but now when playing even drags u down, its losing point at all.
I would like to second this sentiment. I understand it’s a test season, but I really don’t care for minis, and there is no actual pride to me for GH armor, it’s ugly and you can barely tell the difference between it and its regular armor anyway.
I really hope once you guys start ‘real seasons’—if we can ever get LBs to work—you’re going to make it more lucrative. A start would be like 5 full reward tracks worth of pvp potions.
So, this sucks. Now, I’m losing points when my team gets utterly destroyed by things that they don’t even try to counter—turret engis, power necros/lich form. kitten, this morning, I was on a team where a medi guard let a ranger pet rez to full instead of finishing him off. Yet, during primetime I’m matched with OE and Caed ’n kitten.
There’s no accounting for what you’re going to get for a team if you soloqueue, I can’t carry terribles, but I sure as hell hate getting farmed when the difficulty curve goes from those terribles to literally the best players in the game. I feel like there’s no winning, and it’s incredibly frustrating.
