I’d like to throw in an additional voice of annoyance at this daily—I used to be able to complete all my pvp dailies np but this is actively taking away my ability to regularly be rewarded for my playtime.

There's no reward for higher lvl content.

I started this game about five months ago,

So I got all of my ascended armor and weapons and trinkets (even the underwater stuff), and filled them with the best infusions and upgrade components.

I work 75 hours/week, and don’t have tons of time.

We need to update the loyalty pip description.

You need to earn at least 75 pips for 3 weeks in a row to earn the loyalty bonus. We wanted players to have to participate in skirmishes to be considered loyal.

Hello, I’m not quite clear on this.

So you need to get
75+ pips on week 1
75+ pips on week 2
75+ pips on week 3

And then so long as you remain on the server, you will get the loyalty bonus?
Or will the streak reset if you miss a week, and you need to do all 3 again?

Needing to earn 100+ pips weeks 1, 2 and 3 is correct. If you miss a week you will need to do all 3 again.

*Edit: It should be 100 pips not 75. So you need to complete all of Wood Tier for 3 weeks.

75 words or fewer (obvious: spoilers for this episode):

  • fantastic map design, might be best worldbuilding in the industry
  • story that was there was well done. (also well-done, volcano, amirite)
  • obviously stretching out the tiny bit of story by running around to shrines all over map
  • Idk if it was supposed to be a surprise to the player that we couldn’t kill more elder dragons or just the characters, but players have known this for years now….
  • scavenger hunts are fun, but aren’t really content.

longer than 78 words for elaboration if desired:

  • The quality is great for story, but seriously, a half-day of gameplay every 3 months isn’t really going to retain your playerbase. If you need to dial back quality so that we have stuff to do, you probably should.
  • Building on the last point, scavenger hunts are fun sometimes, I guess. But seriously, 60 stupid fragments of rock is asinine and zinn recordings and druid flowers and Whispers spying and and and….stuff gets really old, and it isn’t actually content. It’s filler with zero payoff. I know I don’t have to do it, as many might say. But if I don’t do this, there really, really isn’t much meat on the patch.
  • Your worldbuilders are bonkers. This may be the best level design I’ve seen in any game I’ve ever played. Tap dancing christmas it’s gorgeous. Your VO directors are killing it, and loved the performances in villain/npc/character chatter.

As you know, we released Episode 4 of Living World Season 3 — Head of the Snake — today. As always, communications team members will be gathering feedback from players on all aspects of the release and will share it with the entire studio. Members of the dev team also will be reading your input, as well.

This is our official feedback thread, as we’ve created for each episode this season. And as normal, we’d like to use this thread to gather your high-level input. Sooo…

After you have played through the episode, please share your overall thoughts on Episode 4.

Please keep it to 50 words or fewer in this thread, offering your top-level overall impression here. More detailed analysis or feedback would be more than welcome in alternative threads and you can rest assured such comments will also be read. I hasten to add there’s no need to rush through the content, we’ll be reading this thread for a week or more.

Bulltet points for ease, not really a raider, so can’t comment there:

  • Really sick of you guys filling my inventory with garbage (Cin’s Business)
  • Moonlighting achieve bugged
  • Burning villagers event requires event fail (poor choice) and lasts all of 4 seconds in any sizable group (really annoying)
  • SS Pinkeen Mantle defense is infuriating and upscales badly. Skritt is good, though.
  • Relatedly, having so many WM Mesmers everywhere gets old super fast. Neat gimmick, gets tiring to go through their healthbars twice, everywhere.
  • Leather farm seemed good, though it’s annoying to constantly burn through Basic Kits with all these salvageable items.
  • Very much preferred ‘consume all’ of Winterberries to Jade Shards
  • Not enough unbound magic on map to stay for long-term
  • Hearts take way too long to complete
  • Many small events makes it feel like a warzone, which is awesome.
  • Love how many skins there are in this patch, from tons of different sources
  • Fractals team is friggin amazing.
  • Overall the polish on this patch is incredible. I could praise the great things in this patch for forever, and please don’t think that these bullet points are me saying that this patch isn’t good—it’s amazing—I’m just trying to be brief for easier digestion.

The problem with this season is the placement matches. The rest is awesome and I enjoy playing the season so far.

I’m just thinking this out myself mostly, but maybe that’s not such a horrible thing? Obviously there will be growing pains, integrating players into this new system from the old one, of straight division-grinding until you level out somewhere.

Going forward, the system will know your previous seasons’ MMR, and take that into account as the data comes in with the w/l records of your placements. The system can then account for whether it is a normal or abnormal result and weight it appropriately.

Maybe that will be how it works, maybe not. Maybe we’re just seeing the forest right now, and not the trees. Which sucks to have to deal with, but adaptation to new systems isn’t usually easy either.

Main account, I went 8/2 in placements, got placed at ~1420 (gold 1). 4-season legend.

Alt, non-hot account for ascended farm, I went 5/5, placed at ~1415. Never played ranked before Tuesday.

Both solo queuing. Truly weird system. I PM’d Evan about it because I was just genuinely curious, but he has declined to respond. I’m guessing it’s just the quality of the opponent in the amalgamated matches, but 80% win rate and 50% is pretty vastly different to end up in the same exact place.

Can we get a Non-HoT Ranked Queue please?

By the way: Playing a core necro so far has been very good for me, the build i play puts a lot of pressure on DH from what i can tell, and there are way too many in each round, and often has lead to a point where the enemies where outpressured.

I was playing around with this on my alt non-HoT account (yay $5 sales). What utilities do you run? I’d like to fit in corrupt boon for it’s unblockability, but I feel like I need Signet of locust and plague and need the stunbreak of spectral armor too much to slot these in.

In forge you can only switch stats on ascended weapon/armor that dropped for you (for example teq weapons afaik). Those you buy from vendor, so I would say it is working as intended.

On the other hand it would be stupid to force players to farm another set of gear if they have chosen the wrong stats, but then it seems anet wants more people doing pvp, so it wouldn’t surprise me.

Stat swap works on all ascended armor/weapons except for sPvP skinned.

Carrying a game as a solo queue is hard as hell. I wish ANet would show us the MMR of our teammates. I feel like teams are composed of players from a wide range of MMR.

All that will really solve is everyone being able to yell at the lowest-MMR’d person on the team, whether it’s their fault or not.

My opinion is you’re being naive if you think that it won’t just be a new place for player toxicity.

At 800 rating its super super easy to carry. To deny that means you just lie to yourself. If u cant carry it means u are close to where u belong.

2. A Hero Elite / PvP notary Scroll reward track so we can level Elites.
3. Maybe a Map completion Reward Track, WvW has the ability to bypass all HP.

I like the idea of a pvp notary npc, that would be pretty awesome.

If any of the players who make the top 250 actually want the AP that currently comes with it, what is your justification for telling those players that they do not deserve those AP. What changes in your life at all due to these players earning AP that affects your game in a negative way?

Again, as someone who will probably get into the top 100 (not trying to brag, just based on past pvp experiences), I still don’t like the system as-is. Hell, even if I got the top 1, it’d still feel crappy that I got more AP than others because of the arbitrary cut-off.

The titles are enough prestige as-is. The very real situation is likely that they copied the past legend title achievements and changed the reqs and didn’t give it much more thought. And that’s OK, but it should be addressed.

And if PvP players want more AP from their PvP activities, I’m all for that. I’d love to have my playtime be more beneficial and enjoy the gametype I love the most. But I don’t think limited-pool AP are the way to do that. They already said that they want new AP sections for each map, even core ones, which I think is amazing, and they should absolutely do that.

Let’s get back to basics. AP stands for Achievement Points.

So what you’re saying is, that is it unfair to give achievement points to someone who finishes the season in the top 250 players, and actually worked hard to be at the top, because you cannot?

How fair is that?

The way that Anet has historically used AP are not for limited-pool awards. When they did the WvW seasons, they didn’t have the servers get bonus AP, they just gave them a prestige finisher, and that was enough.

Whether one is able to accomplish taking 1st and getting all the AP doesn’t mean that’s how they should award them. Especially, as has been noted in several threads already, one’s MMR can be vastly different from another’s just based on a couple of games, where, in a perfect world, they’d have the same MMR.

IMO, the titles are enough prestige for any pvper to enjoy.

Many of the better reward tracks have a currency option for those who have obtained everything from the last reward box that they need.

*Wintersday can select gifts at the end
*Bitterfrost can select berries
*EB can select petrified wood
*BSF can select blood rubies

I would like to see this (very welcome already) mechanic extended to other reward tracks, and I thought it would be a good idea to have a brainstorm thread where we could come up with other options selectable from the final chests.

It’s probably better that the dungeon chests remain as is; they’re already an incredibly lucrative way to fill out the Dungeoneer achievement, and giving more dungeon tokens on top of what they already do seems way too strong.

The Ascalon/Kryta/Shiverpeaks/Tarnished Coast ones have always been super boring. Would be better if they had the choice of the current skins, or even gave a weapon version of them (decent source of exotics). Also an option, there are the race-specific armors or t3 weapons (Warden, Seraph, Wolfborn). Now that gold is more ubiquitous, it may not be a bad idea that these were an option. It’d take forever to get a whole set via reward tracks, but it would make them a viable reward choice, instead of being completely skippable.

I don’t know what to do with the Ruins of Orr region reward track. Maybe some kind of currency that one could, with like x# of completions, buy from a vendor an item from the Temples of Orr event drops? Again, just brainstorming.

For HoT, I’d like to see either the Auric Basin/TD/VB sets repeatable (better of the two options, imo), and have their respective currencies selectable, or be able to pick a bag of those currencies from the Mordremoth Cache in Heart of Maguuma.

In a similar vein, it’d be nice if the Silverwastes reward track were repeatable (instead of just Maguuma Wastes, which is just Drytop, only rewards geodes in lieu of bandit crests too), and have each of their reward tracks have Geodes or Crests selectable options in the last chest.

If you care about the AP that much and are competitive to achieve the highest AP possible then why not actually step up and Compete for those few AP? They are there for anyone willing to put the effort into grab and every season they will be there up for grabs.

Of course I’m going to play, i’m going to try. But realistically, I know where things will probably shake out. Won’t stop me from trying my best, and trying to improve. And, even if I got #1, I still wouldn’t like the idea behind capping AP at a # cutoff of people, I don’t think it’s right for the health of the system.

They may bring back LS 1 but they won’t bring back the Monthly AP which was 5k iirc, again there is about disparity and any new player or players that didn’t get to play during those times will never be to catch up so ……

Monthly AP (5k) and Daily AP (10k) were rolled into a total cap of 15k, so you don’t need the previous monthly AP to catch up in that regard.

This seems pretty clear to me. Getting into the top 250 is an achievement. Unless I’m mistaken the A in AP stands for Achievement. Seems pretty reasonable to give them some Achievement Points for earning an Achievement. There’s a good chance I won’t be in that 250, but I don’t see why those who get up there don’t deserve it.

Now, if you wanted to give the same points to the same 250 people every season, assuming they keep placing in the exact same place, that’s a different point.

top 250 is really only part of the problem, though. Top 1 gives points, 2, 3, 4-10, 11-25, and 26-100.

Realistically, not only will ‘only the top 250’ be able to get in at the bottom rung, but there’s another 5 tiers that are far too limited; that’d be like them adding a Living world chapter and saying that only the first 250 people who log on get to play it. It’s not a good situation for anyone to be in.

Historically, I’ve placed pretty well in PvP. I got to low 20s on the solo queue LB, and like 22, iirc, on the one where they passed out GH armor and stuff. I’m not the best, I’m more than aware. But there’s a really good chance that I’ll at least make the top 100 this time around, and I still don’t like the exclusivity of this. There are so many factors that affect people that will eliminate them from the running for these. Missing out on the titles is pretty sucky. Missing out on the AP that makes a difference when you’re gunning for highest AP position is a whole other story. It should be a level playing field at all times, and limited reward window plus scarcity via placement isn’t okay, IMO.

To those saying, “Yeah, but LS1 gave tons and nobody can get them anymore”, consider that Devs have already said that they want to bring LS1 back when they have the opportunity/are given a green light. When that happens, I have to imagine they’re going to sort out the AP problem of back then; they just haven’t had the chance to do so yet. They’ve grown as a company, and have realized their best way forward.

If you’re saying “why does AP matter to you??”, consider that not everyone has fun the same way. People find enjoyment and competition in different venues. If you don’t understand it, that’s fine, but “your way of having fun is wrong” is silly, and shouldn’t be a part of this discussion.

I think it’s quite sweet that he kept the ring all that time, considering Althea died in the Searing and that was almost 3 years earlier. Although I suppose after the Shiverpeaks he wasn’t in a position to decide which items he would keep with him.

That’s not actually the case. Althea only disappeared shortly after the game catches up with the main character, a couple years after the Searing happened.

No one forced any of you to blow the hype out of the water for the Rock.

Datamining and player perception took what was an odd item from farming EB while it was current content and projected it to absurdity, despite nothing from Anet mentioning it in the slightest.

It’s completely absurd to assume that it was any kind of ring precursor, or anything of the sort, being that Anet have not ever introduced a non-core legendary in that manner, marketing or implementation-wise.

The fault lies not with Anet. The players set the TP price, hyped it up thinking it was more important than it was, and was upset when their headcannon didn’t match reality.

They turned something that had a rare drop from an otherwise material sink (skrit stashes>crafting mats), and ran with it.

And they all give 6 AP each, which is quite silly considering only a limited amount of people can get them and NA will have an easier time than EU.

Yeah, pretty absurd; they’ve never before had something where it’s literally impossible for 99.99999999999999% of the game’s population to get (only 1 person can have ‘God’, no matter what.)

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, they probably just copy/pasted it from past title achievements and didn’t give it much thought. Hopefully it gets fixed.

I agree about blade shards, chak eggs, mysitic forge stones, etc. I also suggest resonating slivers.

I undertsand why you don’t want to put crafted things in. Would it be hard to at least make more things stackable in the bank, like the various salvage kits, harvesting tools, etc.?

Every month I end up getting quite a few BL salvage kits. It’s great to get them for free, but it would be even better if they stacked.

It would be extremely hard, if not impossible to make those things stack.

Slightly outside of the purview of this thread, but perhaps either a vendor that will trade 10 unused BL Kits in for a 250-use kit, or a MF recipe that took 4 unused kits and created a 100-use kit would be a more elegant solution?

My goal for this year, besides conquering the Clocktower and doing ridiculous numbers of Labyrinth runs, is acquiring that darling kitty, Mini Zuzu, Cat of Darkness. I love that little critter!

Thanks for the communication.

While I do wish you were able to discuss the details of the upcoming changes, so they could be deliberated on before they’re basically already out the door, I do recognize that that policy isn’t yours to decide. While frustrating, I know it isn’t your fault specifically and more the problem of internet echo chambers.

I guess here’s to hoping that the changes work out for you guys and I’ll be back when the next LS chapter or season start.

While I actually like your suggestion (finishing the meta while sitting through a Nifhel I don’t want to be in is boring as hell), if you want to work on your warrior play style, it doesn’t really matter what map you’re on, because you should be focusing on warrior mechanics. Most of the ranked maps’ secondary objectives should be ignored in most games:

Nifhel, you’re better suited on focusing on points over beasts except if you full team-wiped them.
Foefire, 9.9 times out of 10, you shouldn’t be in on Lord
Temple, buffs are 11:30 (top), 8:30(top/bot), 5:30 (top), and 2:30 (top/bottom) and you should go to those spawnpoints then.
Khylo, kill enemy treb, very rarely should you be on your own treb.

Really, the issue here is that to develop the tech to select for a specific conquest map, they could probably be doing something more useful with that time.

I mean, there really isn’t hard bunking anymore with PvP ammy removals, so all it takes is one stealth backstab to chunk someone to half health (minimum). After that, it’s just waiting out defensive CDs/pressuring until you can reset and full kill them. It’s not exactly rocket science.

I mean…i’m not specifically trying to be salty about it, but is there a point to the video? Any half-decent Daredevil does obscene damage and can survive a 1v1 as long as they choose to. Eventually any spec runs out of ‘oh kitten’ buttons and dies because you can never get rid of or pin down a DD. Maybe I’m missing something here.

They’ll retroactively add the title for S4 “Indomitable legend” after the season is over for legendary rank in S4.

I don’t find any official statement about this
