Fresh air is horrible for the game. It is huge instant spikes with no visual tell and the burst is instant. It should not be viable.

Never thought I’d agree with him but…yeah Fresh Air is bad design and I’m saying this as ele main, all insta dmg crap with no tell must go, we should not rely on a gimmick to make a burst ele, the trait is simply cancer…just not as much cancer as other crap currently ( skull grinder – dh – berseker GS burst – dodgemancer as most cancerous elements atm in GW2)

Tell me. Have you legitimately EVER been more afraid of an amazing scepter ele than you were of a pulm d/p thief? Ever? And you complain that fresh air gives the player too much instant high non visual damage. Let’s look. Lightning strike has a 4 sec cooldown and does 654 damage with 2050 power. The trait also named Lightning Strike does 510 damage when you swap to air. Is this… what you call too much burst? Is this what you worry about? Any other skills that do high damage are not a benefit of fresh air, or they’re easy to see. And when you say that this must go, it’s already gone and has been for years now.

I think 1-4 are reasonable somehow.

However 5 seems a bit over the top from my perspective. Imagine if you would implement this buff today. What would happen? Alle D/F Auramancer would get a strong buff to their sustain with the water field and a very strong CC in team fights with air overload. So from this buff I doubt that you would push elementalists in a dos role.

Static Charge doesn’t CC at all, and the water field won’t stop overload water from being interrupted. And a moving water field is in no way overpowered, look no further than druid or warhorn on that fact. Moving water field wasn’t strong enough to make d/why meta.

And I hope those are 5 different options, as I don’t have anything civil to say if you think all 5 should be applied at once.

By the way, half of those would be hilarious in pve, where ele doesn’t have any problems.

I’d rather see buffs that don’t benefit the supportive build in any way rather than general buffs. which rules out all but the first two. but even then, #2 could have use on support builds with that cooldown reduction. but #1 is BrOkEN in PvE, so #2 is the best one. But let’s tweak it a bit. Let’s see…

With FA being meta in PvE, it would only make sense that I was talking solely about PvP. I doubt Tempestuous Aria would be OP in support builds, and if it’s not then it’s another option, which is healthy. Even in that case, one would outmatch the other, most likely keeping invigorating torrents as king.

Lucid Singularity now reduces the cooldown on overloads by 20% and reduces the effects of the singularity trait by 40%, meaning the cooldown on overloads when attunement swapping is now 3 seconds instead of 5. This will give elementalists a higher resistance to immob, chill, and cripple while runnng glassy builds.

2. Tempestuous Aria reduces the cooldown of shouts by 20%, they apply 5 seconds of weakness (buffed from 3 seconds). Wash the pain away could be altered to keep a 20 sec cooldown when traited, or it could remain the same.

3. Shouts: “Eye of the Storm!” applies 3 seconds of quickness. This would make it not only easier to actually land an overload since it would be exponentially quicker, but you’d be able to catch up with most players so they can’t as easily kite out of your circles. This would also affect the trait “Gale Song”. Aftershock’s cooldown is now 35 seconds.

4. Warhorn Skills: Heat Sync’s cooldown is now 15 seconds. Wild Fire applies 2 burning stacks for 6 seconds per pulse. Lightning Orb’s radius is now 450. Cyclone’s range is now 900, radius is 360. Dust Storm applies 2 seconds of blind in a 1 sec interval.

5. Overloads: Overload Fire now applies 2 burn for 5 seconds in a 1 sec interval. Overload Water is now a water field. Overload Air’s Static Charge now ensures your next 3 hits deliver a lightning strike (buffed from next 1 attack). Hardy Conduit applies 4 seconds of protection (buffed from 3) so it now completely overlaps the overload.

Anyway, rev has too much evade. As in, way way way too much evade. I found out yesterday, to my surprise, that 47 people each day quit gw2 pvp because they hate how much evade rev has. Something needs to be done. Any ideas?

Want to know the difference. Helseth has posted his climb threw bronze on his condi mesmer.

Why can that carry? Mobility, sustain and damage. Ele no longer has any of that. For eles to be successful the team has to be good on focusing targets, not running from shouts and heals and knowing there roles.

When to 1 vs 1 or 1 vs 2 and knowing which team fights to support.

I dont understand why there are so many of these threads when it makes no sense. If anything im screaming that there no build diversity still in ele. Please find me that DPS ele any where.

I’ve never slammed the +1 button so hard in my life.

I’m not saying ele is terrible at everything and brings nothing to the team, and don’t pretend I’ve ever said that.

1. Ele was designed for celestial stats, so literally any other amulet is inadequate in comparison. Elementalist specs are split in two, air/fire/arcane for damage, and earth/water for susttain. When you trait for damage, you’ll pick air (because fresh air is the only considerable damage dealer) and/or arcane with tempest. That means you have no cleanses at all, no heals, no sustain. If you go bunk, you’ll choose earth/water/tempest. You do no damage, no condi damage, and you have very few CC’s (unless you’re running aura share shocking aura). If you choose mixed specs like air/water(too reliant on a lack of pressure to cleanse) or air/earth (no cleanses since you can’t sustain enough to make DS activate) you’ll die. Water/arcane or earth/arcane and you’re utterly useless. In the days of celestial amulet, mixing up was the best possible thing and you could successfully do damage and sustain at the same time while cleansing. Now, that’s impossible.

2. Glass or gtfo. Meaning, if you run menders and you don’t intend to play bunk, you are useless. If you run marauder/zerk/demolishers, you’re dead after 1 second of focus on you, and you can’t win 1v1s against dragonhunters, scrappers, condi mesmers, revenants, warriors, druids, or good thieves. So 7/9 classes.

3. There are no viable damage builds, condi or burst. For the reasons listed above, there isn’t a single meta or sub meta (i.e. condi mes is meta, shatter mes is sub meta meaning good but not the best option) damage build for ele at all.

4. Tempest mechanics are meant for the pve world, not the pvp world. Just look at the overloads, you are vulnerable for 4 seconds to burst, cc, condi applications, kiting, you name it. There are just not enough defenses on you to make that a viable or safe route to go on.

If you don’t play ele, your opinion lacks empiricism and is immediately taken less seriously.

My Suggested Buffs to Dagger Offhand Ele

Dagger off hand is overall bad now because professions have way more sustain respect to the golden age of d/d, reducing CD or increase dmg would do absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things.

You’d need new functionalities all together to make Dagger off hand competitive without making it OP.

D/D ele is for mele combat therefore, you need something that works against current melee meta specs: berseker-thief-mesmer( with shield more or less)-dh-scrapper-reaper( thx to RS)-revenant- ranger….basically all classes atm can be very effective at melee range except ..offhand dagger ele so what do you need?

You’d need ways to deal with condi bomb, projectiles, CC spam, ganking etc etc

..And this is where you can stop dreaming abut the return of d/d ele, the more defence you add to dagger off hand..the more you get close to a berseker 2.0,the power creep on other professions is far too severe to buff anything on anybody .

But there is hope, I can tell you what will be anet next course of action about eles for next expansion : they will add a main hand burst weapon at melee range- reduce CD on some dagger off hand skills so that you will have basically a d/d 1.5 version, it won’t be as “jack of all trades” like d/d arcana was..but a viable burst build nevertheless

Never once did I like D/D, I was completely speaking of dagger offhand independently from dagger mainhand. S/D, S/F, and S/Wh is all I play.

Dagger offhand ele, like the majority of ele, receives near 0 play in conquest, and contributes to 0 of the fear of fighting an elementalist. Few long time players who have perfected the ways of scepter/dagger pose any threat these days mainly because of power creep and how ele is left eating dust. The worst thing is, dagger is traditionally more of an offensive weapon compared to focus, yet focus outplays dagger offensively and defensively at the same time.

Fire is fine for dagger offhand, though water needs improvement. Flatly, the cooldowns on both skills are too long. In clutch situations (which will be often with such a glassy set up with absolutely no way to deal with ranged pressure), you will need your water heals ready for use. The 40 second cooldown for 1 frost aura is simply too much. I propose that the cooldown of that to be reduced to 30. Cleansing Wave is strong and needs no real buffs, but the cooldown needs to be reduced to 30 as well.

Air offhand dagger skills need serious improvement. Ride the lightning is a very dangerous skill to use in that it is high risk low reward. Ride the lightning not only locks the elementalist out of his main skills, so that he can’t even attunement swap or blind an incoming interrupt, it also locks the elementalist out of his utility skills. Ride the lightning isn’t even an evade so you can and usually will get hit while ridding the lightning. In comparison, Ancestral Grace is a 1450 heal (no healing power) in an aoe that is a blast finisher, and an evade. I propose that ride the lightning become the offensive opposite of Ancestral Grace. Ride the lighting should have a 30 second cooldown, be an evade for the duration of the cast, and its damaged should be buffed to 1450, and the radius should be 240, and it shouldn’t lock the ele out of his skills. Updraft’s cooldown should be reduced to 35 seconds.

Earth is mostly fine, but can use some minor buffs. Earthquake should get a damage buff to 742, like Ring of Fire. The cooldown should be reduced to 25 seconds. Churning Earth is fine.

Absolutely not. If you want to change it to apply bleed or torment instead of might and weakness that’s one thing. But a single trait applying might, weakness, bleed, and torment on top of reducing skill CDs is way too kittening much. We need less boon and condi spam in this game, not more.

My suggestions are to keep up with the current meta. Look at skull grinder. Bleed, blind, confusion, cripple, daze, blast finisher on a 2.5 second cooldown and can cause a 600 per second regen when traited. Torment bleed might and cripple on a 20 sec cooldown is NOTHING in comparison.

Before all of you salty sea dogs say “ELE IS OP ENOUGH AND YOU WANT A BUFF? GIVE ME A BREAK!” just hear me out. Tempestuous Aria is a trait that gives 2 stacks of might for 11 seconds and 3 seconds of weakness in a 600 range on shout. If any of you non ele players think that this is acceptable, you play ele. You use this trait. You see how viable it is. No one, and I mean no one, and I truly mean not a single soul uses Tempestuous Aria. In my opinion, it could open the gates for condition elementalist. It would do everything it already does plus apple 3 stacks of bleed and 1 stack of torment and reduce the cooldown of shouts by 20%. No, this would not make ele bunky and condi, look at the trait.

No one is asking for the 1 build we have to be buffed. The majority of us hate that build and want our garbage traits and skills that are never used to be buffed. This wouldn’t buff current meta ele anyway, since they don’t use any of those things, it would simply open up more than 1 option for us.

yeh that’s a problem that it’s present in many classes in this game, druid only have one available, the bunkee druid we all know.

I agree just adjusting the traits to make more builds available so it doesn’t feel like you play againts the same ele\druid\you-name-it all the time would be fantastic.

There is a lot about ele that can simply be thrown away in the conquest world, i.e. staff, d/d, s/d, fire spec, latent stamina, any burst build, conjures, tempestuous aria, rebound, and more. May we discuss why these things have yet to see improvement?

That is comically ridiculous. All healing ele can produce should be nerfed by 50%? And a 5% buff on damage in fire scepter auto attack and a 20% damage buff on earth scepter 3? That’s a tiny start that would get us nowhere at all.

There is a clear ignorance of how elementalist works throughout this thread. Elementalist needs its attunement swaps, that’s how the class was made. It’s like stripping mesmer of her illusions or thief of its steal. It. Makes. No. Sense. If you think bunk ele does too much damage, maybe you need to learn how to beat it. If anything, ele needs a damage buff! Most of ele is unviable in the current meta scene and the parts that are viable are intensely boring and reliant on trustworthy team members.

The Condi cleanse and Stealth+Superspeed have to be traited for, it’s not like they’re baseline.
It already got nerfed enough as it is. Right now, the only solution is to buff the other traits because they’re so bad we’re forced to take Druidic Clarity and Celestial Shadow because the rest sucks.

Other traits are fine. What you are going through with the idea of buffing the other traits is called the diderot effect.

do you even know what the hardest counter for druids is? its condi pressure, i admit we got high sustain with our heals and thats one of the great things about rangers and makes for good bunkering, but the biggest killer for me in a team fight is getting constantly condi bombed and thats even when im running an additional condi clense utility, if celestial avatar got a nerf the damage spike would wipe us everytime with 0 effort from condi builds. so i disagree celestial avatar condi clense is not needing a nerf when we are far from running the strongest meta this season.

It’s years now that a lot of people ask for a viable dps build for Ele. We still doesn’t have it and I doubt we will never have it.
That said, even if Ele Will have a viable dps build, I mean a decent DPS build, it Will never bè metà since DPS Ele doesn’t give nothing at his team, just damage but nothing more.
Thieves are the best to decap and +1 fights with their mobility.
Revs have mobility + cc + buffs
Mesmers have portal.
What an Ele give to his team? How can it make the metà for Ele change?

That said I don’t get how people can play SF fresh air with tempest. Using overloads make you eat a lot of damage while most of SF survability coming from avoid melee by kiting with superspeed. Tempest provide nothing to fresh air in my opinion since also the shouts arent worth without healing Power. I prefere 10x times take arcane instead to promote a more Dynamic gameplay.

The most damage I take is not from overloading, my build doesn’t allow that. I play arcane skills with lightning flash and fiery greatsword. I do just fine.

Celestial Avatar needs a nerf

Celestial avatar is a full condi cleanse with a 15 sec cooldown, and upon entering Celestial avatar, you are greeted with skills that heal you while simultaneously blinding, dazing, and creating a water field. After you leave celestial avatar, you are granted with stealth and superspeed in an AoE.

My fix: Celestial avatar cleanses 3 conditions instead of 13 upon entry and the icd on the superspeed/stealth trait is raised to 30 or 45 seconds. All healing numbers get a flat nerf of 20%.

I mean come on, do they really need all of this when THEY HAVE ANCIENT SEEDS?! THE MOST BROKEN POWER CREEP THING EVER SEEN?

Invuln spams need to be nerfed globally. Nobody likes classes that are immune to damage 90% of the time.
Of course, nobody likes being forced to take all of the incoming damage either like Necromancer, so there has to be a middle ground.

For all of 2016, eles have been the #1 bunking class in the game when talking about pvp. In fact, for all of 2016, if you don’t run bunk ele you’re dead constantly. Few players including myself run scepter/focus marauder or demolisher (or even berserker) and we do decently, but the truth is is that most classes counter s/f and all skilled players, regardless of class, can kill a good s/f ele. Dagger/focus eles on the other hand, are completely unfun to play and play against. They slow down the entire experience of conquest and make duo comps godly.

In my opinion, damage ele should be brought back and be at lest as viable kittenter mesmer and at least be able to keep up with scrappers and warriors. The main problem with damage eles right now is the lack of sustain while overloading. Scepter/focus play style is supposed to be fast and gank well and is heavily reliant on skill and ability to think quickly. Tempest s/f on the other hand is being heavily reliant on just hoping you don’t get ganked while overloading or your overload being interrupted (which commonly happens with the amount of boon steal and boon corruption there is in this current meta, let alone how many interrupts there are that aren’t reliant on boon steals). I also think that shouts should play into the s/f tempest build even a little bit. Most tempest s/f builds do not even use a single shout at all, let alone rebound which is barely a buffer to damage.

I also want to see build diversity in the ele world. When I see damage tempests, they always choose elemental bastion and unstable conduit with harmonious conduit. No one I’ve ever seen EVER has used tempestuous aria. There isn’t even a strong reason why that trait doesn’t reduce the cooldown of shouts. I see very few eles using gale song, myself included and I can count on my fingers alone how many use imbued melodies. I currently use lucid singularity on my build, but it feels too weak in most cases.

What would be healthy for the pvp environment is for at least 1, just 1, DECENT build with staff or D/D that can land a kill on any skilled player. Staff has absolutely no way to deal with melee pressure, condi pressure, or burst pressure. 9/9 classes hard counter staff. With D/D, there’s no way to both keep up pressure and deal pressure anymore with the removal of celestial (good riddance!), and menders is simply nowhere near good enough.

The entire ranked system is poorly designed. The largest contributing factor to where you’ll be placed in rating ISN’T EVEN in your wins and losses, it’s on your first 10 games. If you do well in them, good for you, here’s a legendary title. If you don’t, well good luck surpassing platinum t1. Everyone is playing cancerous broken builds with terrible design. No one knows what they’re doing. It is nearly impossible to surpass your current league. Playing is the furthest thing from fun I’ve experienced.

You can, on my druid I can easily stomp and mid stomp use glyph of equality on necros, wars, guardians, revenants, rangers, and scrappers. You just have to pay close attention to when they’re channeling their interrupt.

It highly depends of various factors i.e. how is your score looking? Are you able to sacrifice 20 or 30 points and give those to the other team and still win? Hows the other nodes looking? Is your team about to wipe on mid and you need them to stay alive? Hows the other team looking? If it’s their home and you just saw your team demolish them at mid, you should probably run because you may get ganked by freshly spawned foes. What I usually do is wait for my team to come or for the other team to come so I can decide to fight or run.

Dragonhunter has a trap heal that is an unblockable, undodgeable, unseeable blind that heals them for 80% of their health whilst having 0 healing power. All of this, and you’ve decided to buff Dragonhunter heals for next patch. WHAT IS YOUR GOAL????? WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO ACHIVE?

I dont know the exact value, but I’ve played both casually and semicompetitive, + I closely follow esl and I can say that the healing saves friggin lifes.

EDIT: You can use it on a low hp nec when in shroud to have some time to use your heals when he goes out, to reach a rev when hes kiting away or for an engi so he has some extra seconds to use his turret after Elixir S. Maybe the healing is not rly good in paper, but it rly gives some extra seconds for your cds to come in extreme situations.

No other elite spec elite is used for one purpose like that, one unrepeatable and rare purpose that you will rarely ever come across. It’s simply bad design.

Well there are many faults with what you just said, first and most importantly of all being you don’t play ele competitively. If you do not play the class competitively, you don’t know how it feels to do so. You reinforced the value in your argument by saying you watch esl closely and they show use in rebound, so what? They are the best of the best and the most coordinated teams in the world. That is absolutely no way to quantify any skill or build’s power. Min Scherzo is probably the best thief in the world, so since he plays acrobatics staff thief, that’s like be saying no staff thief should ever lose a fight ever. If that’s ridiculous, so is what you said.

The elite spec shout elite is utterly useless. 2k healing if you have no healing power will literally do 0 for you. You have to train yourself to not blink while being focused when using that elite. So many skills in this game, so many auto attacks do 2k damage. If you are being condi bombed, the elite shout is usless there too. Are we simply supposed to not use it at all?

There is 1 ele build that is viable. One. Others may say that is the same for all classes, but it’s not. You can make like 10 ranger builds that are amazing as long as it has ancient seeds and/or taunt. You can make 97 warrior builds as long as they have adrenal health. You can make both a condi necro and a power necro build that works. You can make a guardian build as long as it has dragon hunter and it will work. You can make about 5 different power mesmer builds and 3 different condi mesmer builds and they’ll be extremely effective. You can make as many thief builds as you want and they’ll work. You can make about 17 scrapper builds and they’ll work. You can make at least 2 different revenant builds with as many weapon combos as you’d like and they’ll work. You can’t make more than 1 ele build without finding yourself being useless.

Tempest didn’t got nerfed because of too much dmg + sustain, it got nerfed because of its strong team support, which made it kinda mandatory for a good team composition. And it is still a decent supporter. Unfortunately this role doesn’t work as well in soloQ as it does in coordinated team play and like pretty much all classes ele lacks build/role diversity. So yea, it sucks.
But apparently the game is “perfectly balanced” because all classes are in some way viable. So who cares about diversity? Anet obviously don’t.

Tempest was most recently nerfed to death because anet felt that tempest does too much damage while being able to sustain.

NEVER heard of Scrapper, Druid, War, Dragon Hunter(whose trap heal is about 8k without any healing power, undodgeable blind and trigger)
Show me a build that can beat these in the sustain/damage area. Show me one. Show me the use in Latent Stamina. Show me the use in Lucid Singularity. Show me a trait that can even COMPETE with ancient seeds. You can’t. Arenanet apparently doesn’t care about leaving all these terrible traits in Tempest.

Do you know arena net’s response to Cleric Tempest? Remove Clerics and nerf Tempest sustain. Do you know arena net’s response to Menders Scrapper? Buff it and give them condi so now you can die in 2 seperate ways.

Scrapper, War, and DH can completely outmatch ele in not only the damage area/sustain, but in the condi damage area. This is seen as “balance”.
