I don’t really get it ._.
No, i know what it is, i just don’t get exactly what you mean. Could you explain further?
He wants a mesmer to portal him up and keep portaling him until he gets the achieve. For 25g
That’s what i thought but i got confused because of the way the OP said it, specially because like Liinnieji mentioned from time to time people ask for that and they seem to not offer gold and to bluntly ask for a Mesmer to portal, so i was wondering if there was other kind of situation that could help players without me being aware of it. Sorry about that.
By the way, is there any video explaining how the Mesmer portal them? Because if i recall that is kind high for him to jump down; or does the Me portal the guys a little before that last part so that they only have to do like half the path?
Welcome.
Play a profession you think that suits you and learn a bit of everything about this game so that you know what is the most enjoyable for you (pve, pvp, wvw). Elementalist (ele for short) is pretty required in a few situations and can be very fun to play with
Also check your profession’s forum often, to know about tips or tricks that can be useful for you, different builds, ways to lead with different situations be them at pvp or pve. Keeping an eye on the events subforum may be useful as well if you do them, specially to know when they remove certain items that you can trade with npcs, to make sure they don’t go to waste.
I thought that more achievements = more tickets. Either way, kinda sucks for the ones that are in bad WvW servers
Why?
You can get enough of the achievements done in Edge of the Mists, which are not server-specific.
The achievements aren’t the issue, but your reward also depends on how well your server does, so if you are in a bad server it won’t be as good as if you were on a good one, am i right?

I don’t really get it ._.
No, i know what it is, i just don’t get exactly what you mean. Could you explain further?
Tried the JP once and finished it. Tried a second time for the goggles and took me so many tries that i lost the count to them (and from those i only managed to get to the part that is different from the JP, like 3times). Only reached the goggles the last try and then i failed -.-
But now i’m done with the other dives so ill have to try it again ;( from far the hardest thing i’ve attempted in this game.
I don’t really get it ._.
Must try it.
So they try to do it 3 times? And is it everyday?
Advice, find the profession that you think that is more suited for you and make it your main character. Personally i can’t do this, so i end up leveling as many chars as i can, but it is just a waste and ends up being hard to get them all with that ‘good’ gear you want and alternative sets. Also try to find the kind of play you enjoy the most, PvE, PvP or WvW, there’s some guys that only do 1 of them as that’s what they love about this game. It isn’t really needed for you to play just PvE or PvP if you hate it, there’s plenty of ways to go around and still get to max level and some profit.
I never get how people complain about being hard to level, when you are possibly playing the online game with the most easily achievable level cap. Also if you just played 5h you shouldn’t even complain about that, just look around exploring the game and eventually you will get to 80.
Your other thread sir.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Need-help-leveling-Beginner/3858885
Posting multiple threads about the same subject isn’t the way to go either. If you are in such a rush, whatever the reason may be, look for more specific leveling guides. I find them quite often on youtube without even looking for them, so surely there should be quite a few decent ones around.
Really? EU, i’ve guested sometimes (mostly in Desolation) to try Tequatl and sometimes Wurm but i never seem to be lucky. I only managed to do Tequatl once, and it was on Aurora.
But i don’t really get it how these changes could affect these events that much to the point to make it impossible to finish the achievements… anyway, that shouldn’t be a problem even after the 15th as the mega-change will first take place on low level maps, and will start on lower population maps and gradually moving up.
I say save them, unless if you really need the gold for something, but if you only do pvp i don’t know why would be in such a need; if you happen to do pve later you could regret it. Else you could just go for dyes and gamble around, or if you like to play safe t6 bags are a better option.
Aw ._. Well i didn’t get mine in Kessex Hills, the only place where i killed mobs was AC Dungeon and Frostgorge Sound. Well, i guess i’ll just delete them then. Thanks for the detailed info.
I just got 3 keys that combined became the tricolor key. I recall this was used back in November – i played some of the event but didn’t get that far – but i can’t find info about how to use it now. Also i don’t know how i got it. Is it for some new LS event that is comming or someth? If not, is it totally useless then?
I wouldn’t use Transmutation Splitters, that alone would be 1650 gems, not to mention the 6 Transmutation Crystals, I don’t know what armour look you wanna transfer but I very much doubt it’s worth all that.
Probably it isn’t for the looks rather the stats? But yes, even in that case, up to exotic at least, it wouldn’t be worth it. I thought about this before but i thought it wasn’t possible, glad to hear that there’s a solution (and there might be more comming on the way).
I believe Mesmer would fit somehow what you are looking for. I play with one but i never went out of pve so i can’t give you a opinion based on my experience; but from what i’ve read Mesmer seems to do fairly well in WvW and PvP, specially if people aren’t used to their mechanics or are unaware of how the profession really works – they get confused with all the illusions stuff. In pve open world, which is what i do, he isn’t really that great, so it may be boring if you are solo exploring the maps; but if it is just for dynamic events with other people it is perfectly fine. As far as Dungeons go, from what i’ve experienced and read Mesmer has quite a few useful skills that can fit very well any group (personally i really like Null Field and Feedback, Time Warp is a pretty good Elite as well); if people desire them or not idk, as i only see guys asking for Warriors and Guardians with high ap, from time to time Eles – but this on the lfg tool, in organized groups with ppl that know well dungeons and their mechanisms it may (and hopefully is) totally different.
Ranger wouldn’t match very well your goals. I didn’t touch my Necro for 6months but, at least as ‘’desired by groups’’ goes, i believe we could say exactly the same. Dunno about the other characters as i’ve never played them, but i’m pretty sure that the Warrior – if not ruled out by you – and the typical Guardian also would fit in your description.
In case you don’t know soon enough every profession will get a new Grandmaster trait for every traitline, so that could change this scenario.
Anyone would be interesting in doing this mini-dungeon? It seems hard to solo, i just tried to duo with someone but i lost more time giving him tips and trying to help him during the run than actually moving forward and in the end he just left the party without a single word, sigh >.>
I only wanted it for the explorer achiev but i already got it; so now i wanted to finish it for the actual reward and the other achievement. If anyone got tips or would like to schedule a run (EU) i would appreciate it
I wonder how hard it may be, with ppl trying to kill you from every possible angle :x
Thanks for the answersI have the WvW maps at 100% with 5 toons, you have to play with the rotation and be patient it’s not something you can do at will and you’ll hardly find a group willing to break into that last spot that you are missing, rust me, you’ll get there.
Ahah i know i’ll get it, don’t worry im patient. In fact i’ll get them first with a character that is only at 45% completion, only after that i’ll focus on the one at 92%. Thanks
I’ll today finish 3 explorer achievements where i missed 2areas. While for Maguuma and Orr i know which 2areas those could be i have no idea for the Shiverpeaks, since this char is a Norn and those maps were the ones i did at first so i don’t remember at this point.. is there a similar list for Shiverpeaks often missed areas as well?
Just got it, was missing the mini dungeon in Dredgehaunt cliffs and the JP in Lornar’s Pass.

Desolation in Eu usually dos it. That´s part of the reason why that server is hated nowadays.
The problem is that everyone guests into Desolation, making other servers less populated. There’s so many ppl in there that i can’t even do enough damage in order to get loot. I used rapid fire which is really fast and the champ was down before my attack finishes lol Is there any other EU servers with ftg trains?
Just did it in Aurora Glade, less people than Desolation but enough to kill fast, good for ppl that tend to lag as well. Had a commander leading the run which is good for ppl that don’t know exactly where to go.

I don’t have enough experience to say how optimal it is, but i have been doing pve with my lb Ranger and i got no complaints. I solo’d every pve content during world exploration, even Orr. I aim for Berserk gear and had mostly masterwork pieces, and – don’t remember from the top off my head the traits but – got nothing on BM and maxed out the first two traitlines. I use any pet i feel like but my main one is River Drake as he is well balanced stats-wise and got a good aoe skill.
Those are both NA if i recall?
What about EU?
Alright, tyvm Melanie and Belzebu
I’m not sure since that one i only did on one of my characters and only once. What if i buy a Quaggan skin or something, can i apply them on those non-skin backpieces?
Yep. You can put a Quaggan backpiece skin onto any existing backpiece (even if it already has a skin – the old skin will get overidden).
May as well ask, once i use the skin can it still be re-usable? maybe with a transmute stone?
So i decided to start working on leatherwork, on my Ranger who is a Norn. Honestly i don’t know anything about gw Lore, but i like to read a few things from time to time and I find them interesting, and was just wondering… if i wanted to match the different disciplines with Races and/or professions, is there some ways that it would make more sense, lore-wise, than randomly learn a discipline with any character?
I know this wouldn’t affect the crafting discipline at all, im merely curious
Not all backpieces have a skin. For example, a spineguard or the charred back warmer does not have a skin. The Spine Blade one does. I think you have switched off the box that shows your backpiece if you can’t see the Spine Blade? If you press H you’ll see you can switch backpieces on and off like you can with helmets and shoulder pieces.
I’m not sure since that one i only did on one of my characters and only once. What if i buy a Quaggan skin or something, can i apply them on those non-skin backpieces?
Is the starting backpiece supposed to be seen? Because i couldn’t see it, neither the charred back warmer i got afterwards or more recently the exotic spine blades; also i tried for more than one character all of diff races and profs, with both gear and town cloths and with both checked and unchecked backpiece option (on the hero pannel).
So is there anything im missing, like the user of the backpiece not being able to see it but everyone else can; those particular backpieces are not supposed to be seen; or since im running the game on the lowest possible graphics it just is hidden for me?
I see, so that’s how it works. I heard my server is particularly bad so i dunno how long it could take to get those last 10%. Well that’s okay since im not in a rush, i was thinking about initiate myself in wvw with other character than the one i have at 90%, so ill just take my time
Now im curious, what about if i was a thief, which is not the case, or even better if i had 2 thieves to team up with? Cant the stealth solve the situation?
I wonder how hard it may be, with ppl trying to kill you from every possible angle :x
Thanks for the answers
I’m close to finish the pve open world content and i can see that while the quests will be all done theres still af ew wps, vistas, pois and skills left. I was in Southsun Cove a while ago and i noticed that the wps i discovered didn’t count towards the 512 avaliable wordwide, not sure about the pois but i would assume it is the same.
So i would like to know, aside from pve open world, where do i get the stuff that is missing, WvW? What about Dungeons, are the wps and pois there needed? And in pvp can i find anything like that?
I swear i’ve seen a purple screenshot ._. but actually i’ve seen those yellow in game and was wondering what i was missing, now i get it. If they had a more intense glow probably i would prefer them; at first i was aiming for red but the glow itself seems less shiny then blue or green ones, so now i’m just not sure which one would be better lol.
I don’t find them that pretty since i don’t like mecha-like stuff, so maybe i just let them at the normal yellow version and save some gold, waiting for a chance to get another ascended backpiece from some other event later :x
Alright guys, that’s all i wanted to know, once again thanks for your help
I would like to open this question again because MF really depends on DPS and it is not fair for all support classes.
I know somebody, who has a warrior with over 150 MF and finds a lot of exo items and another my friends plays with a necro (support), also over 150 MF, and finds just green and blue items, sometimes yellow and once per month or two, one exo item.
So Anet, please change it so it is fair to everybody. Not just somebody.
Still that doesn’t mean that DPS affect MF or the quality of drops at all.
I didn’t sell mine because i wanted to keep 10 of them (and the type i have the most is only at 8 ) so that i could use them later on, and since i’m not sure which color to go for i couldn’t sell any of them…but i also found out that the ‘regular’ blades are purple’ish? At least i’ve seen a screenshot where they looked like that. I thought they would be not shiny at all, so why is ‘everyone’ trying to get 10 of those cores? That purple’ish doesn’t look so bad.
I was hoping you would tell me something like ‘’SAB is not comming back’’ or ‘’there will be a 3rd appearance but those items will be useless so throw them away!’’, just started doing some new stuff such as temple events and dungeons and all my inventory space seems to be too little lol.
Thanks for help both of you
Saddly i don’t have enough knowledge to help you, but here’s two things that will be helpful
1. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior
2. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv
That’s the right place to ask for help.
So back then i did SAB once, or twice, and i got a few items that were stored in a char that im currently using. Those are 50baubles, 5continue coins and 30princess mya’s wings.
If i recall SAB wasn’t anything new as it had happened before, so is it an annually thing? and should i keep these items if it is or can i throw them away? They aren’t in high quantity or rare stuff.
Thanks for the answers guys! Sorry you had to type so much x)
I see your point on 4, i was just thinking that in case i decide to delete a character it would be a waste if it had crafting skills, so it would be better to focus all the disciplines on the same one. I forgot about the cost of changing them, which increases with the level. How much is it by the way, for a lv400 and 500 discipline?
About this:
2b. You know you can open your current inventory and click the cog, then “deposit collectibles”?
3. There is a crafting boost item from the coin mall. It stacks with the WvW weekly buff, and there is a guild crafting buff as well. Thursday evening until the Friday WvW reset is crafting day. Plan for it.
5. Salvage kits? When you’re first starting out you can buy ultra-cheap crude salvage kits from a few of the low level heart vendors. These days I use basic kits on whites, blues and greens. I make Mystic Forge Salvage Kits for rare items, and BLTC kits for exotic drops.
2b) Yeah, also i have a personnal guild stash and 88slots on 2characters that i use as storage, and the bank obviously, but I still ran out of space. Can hardly do a Dungeon without salvaging stuff while im at it. I just managed to save enough for the Treasure Trove which are 100extra slots, so i’ll be okay 1week from now, specially if i start crafting meanwhile and get rid off some extra stacks that are sitting around in my inventories.
3) But that’s for everyone or just for the server that wins during WvW? And i must participate in the WvW as well or claim the buff somewhere?
5) Isn’t Mystic way more expensive than Master Kit, when you compared the price needed for 3mystic stones at the current currency trade?
Didn’t check it today, but yesterday i saw someone buying it for 300g. I was..quite shocked, as i had no idea i had such a expensive item, and being new that would be 30times more than the max amount i managed to save. If the fee wasn’t 15g (which is too high for me) maybe i would have ended selling it lol
That aside, anyone got a few different screen shots so i could actually see how it looks? I really don’t get it why it is so expensive, or rather popular ._.
QuestionS, actually.
1) I realized that leveling a discipline (to 400 at least) isn’t as hard as i thought, so if im working on one discipline to 500, but got a few mats that don’t fit in there, should i use them for another discipline or just sell them on tp?
2) Im not a crafter yet so im pretty green on this, but is there any discipline (or a couple of them) able to refine every mat i get from gathering? Im struggling with space on my characters/bank right now, i will resolve this issue in a week but in case i get this problem again it would be helpful to know.
3) I recall to see some boosters related with crafting exp, but do they have a chance to increase the exp you get from the discipline or that exp is related to your character’s leveling xp bar?
4) Just assuming, but i should focus all the crafting skills on the same character right?
5) Did anyone test or got theories that would like to share, about which salvage kits are more suitable for each gear lvl/tier? I recall to read ppl saying that they would use low salvage kits for lv 40-60gear, as that increased the chance of receiving ‘x’ material that happened to be more expensive on tp, saving them the trouble to spend so much gold on mats to keep working on their crafting. Or something like that.
6) I’ve seen a few different crafting guides, and they always mention how discovery is better than massive crafting, and in this case you should aim for ’’cheaper’’ discoveries just enough till you hit the next crafting tier, where you can craft different stuff and get more exp. But ideally, when you hit 400 at least, shouldn’t you ‘go back’ and discover the stuff that you didn’t back then because it wasn’t ‘worth’ at the time? Because after 400 it starts getting harder and eventually you have the time-gate issue, so that still could get you exp without mass crafting..or am i missing someth?
7) The time-gated thing, how does it works exactly? It is only for the highest tier of mats or something else? and it is based on a 24h gate, or resets at same time that dailies do?
8) Regardless of 3), i’ll use on of those boosters. Is there a max number of crafts allowed per hour? I want to be sure i gather enough mats, since i may need to buy some i want to avoid wasting time during that hour and make sure i’m fully prepared.
9) Recipes. I thought they worked in a way that they don’t, so i’ll just make this short and ask: are they like a mat, just like a steel ingot or charged quartz, that is needed in order to craft an item? and in that case, everytime you want to craft that item you need to buy the said recipe?
Actually i did some research couple days ago and came across that site which clarified me about quite a few things.
Thanks again.
After reset so don’t let them for the last couple of hours of the day in case something doesn’t go as planned. Last time i finished it 14min late, /sadface.
You can do it, unless if they changed it during the last 2 patches. As for the amount idk if there’s any limit or not.
Actually from 3 of 5 of explorable places that i’m done with, Maguuma is the only that i didn’t complete, apparently i missed 2 zones, possibly one of them is the same as yours. That doesn’t bother me much since i wasn’t aiming for the achiev and i didn’t give a close look to the map to try to see which zones im missing, but if you search for a full explored Maguuma map on google won’t you be able to check what you are missing? Just pay attention to all the ‘white names’ to confirm you have them all; or there are zones that don’t show up on the map with a white name?
I could be wrong but i don’t think that is the case; once you select one of the orders you can’t go back. The only option would be doing another character, ideally you would end up doing 3 characters for each diff order since it is so easy to level them here, so don’t let it bother you much.
Thanks for the replies.
There is no build you can use which performs well in all game formats.
I’m afraid you’re going to have to spend five seconds retraiting for each game mode.
No, like i said what i mean is regarding the stats – only. If there was a way to manage decently anything, chaging the weapons and traits according to the situation, but ALWAYS keeping the same gear. It would be a temporary measure to allow me to understand better the game and be able to afford a more sets with different stats more adequated to each different situation.
Regarding the stats, a huge recommendation to Osicat’s builds, check the sticky in the forum. He always tries to add toughness while maintaining decent power and precision, which is helpful in dungeon/fractal/WvW.
However if you’re looking for “optimal” trait build, hendo is right. Power phantasm builds are easy in pve and can deal massive damage if you get all phantasms up. However they die too quick to do much damage in WvW so it is recommended to go for other builds. That being said IMO the best gameplay is the one you enjoy, don’t restrict yourself to optimal only but play the one that you have most fun.
I get your point, but right now (I tried to explain above) i really prefer optimal than enjoyable, till i get to understand things better so that i can find out what is the most fun for me :p
I think i didn’t check Osicat’s build yet, i’ll read it with more attention later as well as the tips everyone mentioned above, thanks guys
My main changes according with my mood, usually if i do a break i end up leveling another character <.< but i get your point, that was very helpful since i had no idea it worked like that (the armor crafts). I did realise that Leatherwork was the cheapest (to craft the backpiece at least). I guess i’m going with that then, and start working a few levels on it since i got alot of mats siting around and im in need of more inventory/bank space, gonna look for one of those leveling guides.
By the way, how much roughly it would cost me to get one skill to 500? I was told that about 120g should do it, assuming i got some mats and avoid buying expensive stuff from TP (or buying from there at all if possible). Now that i think about that, i’m not sure if they mean 0-500 or 400-500.
All-around not as decent at every single stat but rather with a build that could do fairly well at anything, from team pvp or 1on1, wvw, pve open-world or dungeons. Is there such a build that fits Mesmer or anything that is good at pve wouldn’t do well in pvp and wvw? And by build i’m referring more to stats rather than weapons or traits, since that i always carry around all weps and it is easy to re-trait.
Aside from that, what is the most usefull build for Tyria Dungeons? I know that often there isn’t a ’’correct’’ answers, just wanna know your thoughts.
As for my situation, I have 3 lv80 characters but currently i use one of them merely for storage (Necro), Ranger for pve open-world and Mesmer to learn Fractals, Dungeons, LS events and possibly WvW after the next patch; and the reason I wanna know about a ‘’one for everything build’’ is so that i can focus on looking for gear with those stats. Ideally i would later get a second set, but I got other characters (Ranger at least) that also requires attention and there’s no point in thinking about a 2nd set when i don’t even have a good main set of gear (trying to get full exotic with ascended trinkets, but i’m not at full rare yet).
So i’m going for power/precision/critical damage (berserker?) but i believe that initially (6months ago, can’t remember) was going for power/precision/condition instead. I was using Staff and Scepter+Focus but now i’m going with Staff and Sword+Focus, i intent to try to replace Staff for Sword+Pistol but it may take sometime as i find usefull having always a ranged weap for different situations and i simply love Staff, my fav Mesmer weap, but looks like it is more ‘defensive’ and doesn’t fit well my current build. I usually like to play with Tank characters but since there isn’t such concept (or not as much) in gw2 and Mesmer not being the best at it (probably) i don’t think that investing into Toughness, Vitality or Healing Power would be suitable.
So anything that you would suggest me?
