There are lots of flashing lights and pretty colors, but I can’t tell what’s going on—it’s a combination of it being sped up and the fact that you’re always in the middle of a zerg (and asura).
Ya, it’s a little under double speed, but I can understand if its hard to follow. Unless you WvW alot, it’s kind of hard to pick out what is going on ;-p
Last night was the reset night and we got plugged into T2. We went to TCBL and fought off both zergs trying to get our only keep and tower. From 1939 to 0130 when I logged, I had gained 1122 kills. Most in the guild got 800+. It was non stop fighting against BG and TC all night. And the necromancer makes a really good view point of how effective we can be.
First day fights on TCBL were fun and epic. Getting pushed from both sides was a struggle, but we pulled through.
We had a chat with Quenta yesterday and hes a pretty cool dude with a good philosophy of how to play competitively. I don’t think theres any shame in getting beat. We had alot of players in Mag BL yesterday that had never played a large organized guild group like BT, but now they are aware of getting flanked, being out of position, when to engage, when not to engage. I didn’t want to drop open field siege because I want to test our players without siege and numerical advantage. Theres still alot to teach and much to learn but glicko says otherwise I suppose.
You always want to be fighting competent players, even if you lose because they make you better players. I wish we could get a couple more days out of this matchup just to practice open field skirmishing, test out builds and team comps for busting guild groups and generally raising the standard of play on US servers. Its a crying shame that so few people seem to want this but Quenta is deffo one of them so respect.
Maybe some day you folks will drop a tier and we can play spar/play cat and mouse games again. I’m not really interested in facerolling large blobs of players that cannot play well and have no interest in doing so. You guys are welcome on our mumble any time if you want to talk game mechanics, tactics, team comp, WvW strategy. Same goes for AoN who I’m still in touch with. I need to hop on AoN’s mumble some time so we can test a few things and raise each other’s game.
Stupid criminals make stupid cops after all. I’m proud to be fighting y’all.
Hope you didn’t mind us sticking to a different borderland yesterday while Mag BL was being hit hard, but it sounds like it worked out for everyone in the end. We were on a mission to do more attacking than defending and to have some fun, and the newer players learned something in Mag BL. Also it was the first time that DER|P actually ran together to accomplish something other than fool around together.
Sad that I missed the meeting with Quenta, would love to talk strategy and mechanics with others. Guess you will have to fill me in Rebel!
I just talked with the guy in game, I didn’t pop into Mumble yet, but I will here soon I think. Always like to learn ideas and concepts from other people. Knowledge is power.
What if those wonderful ‘Dynamic Event’ circles that spawn at keeps, tower, etc were to also be created during an open field fight.
For instance: when orange swords are created, a Dynamic Event would spawn with various objectives (kill count, ‘capture timer’, etc) that would reward the server that remains in various ways (more points on the scoreboard, standard karma/XP/coins, etc).
Just an idea.
Was a short one this time, busy with work, could not compile a longer one. :-(
The success of a guild is not indicative of the success of a server. Nor is the success of a server indicative of the quality of any single guild.
I would say the success of a server in WvW is mostly indicative of which server can field continual fully queued maps for 24 hours.
Be a good sportsman and congratulate your peers instead of participating in this drivel.
Nice fights last night.
Likewise. I mourn the loss of your players to another server, but I enjoy the fights against you. Heck of a fun time. Seems to be equal fat lips when we see eachother,!
Maguuma stopped worrying about BT a few days ago.
edit: I feel bad that FA will never know how truly boring a “huge lead” actually is.
I think most of Mag, like everyone else, avoids forums. The only people really interested in a thread like this are passive aggressive specialists who try to see how much their “gotcha” comments can ruffle feathers.
And the truth of the matter is this kind of behavior really only negatively affects the person intending harm, it does nothing to the intended recipients.
Be a good sportsman and congratulate your peers instead of participating in this drivel.
I think it would be best for all of us to control our urges (mine included) to respond to perceived trolling (whether it be deliberate or not) and keep this thread on topic. Been having some excellent fights this match up, so let us keep it positive and as flame free as we can.
Since there is no number that when reached says that you are a zerg I wont comment on that part, However 15-20 man roaming party is most defiantly not the norm. I will say that being a zerg has less to do with the numbers and much more to do how they approach a confrontation.
Preacher
Zerging = people who use numbers rather then strategy to defeat the enemy, therefore requiring no skill.
It’s amazing that every video people have of “beating” OG they always outnumber us, strange how that happens.
Yes you are right Bunzy we have no skill
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. FA loves Maguuma. Everybody on maguuma is great people with some talented players, aside from all the forum warriors.
If you want to showcase that skill you should show it against enemies who outnumber you and not vice versa.
We can always do 5v5s if you want.
The best advice I could give you to help make your WvW experience better is to either get more skill and more numbers. I find coordinating with allies helps a lot especially of your opponent has numbers.
Just find some more friends to play with and come out and have a better time! Cause if you keep dieing because you have to few players, you need to change your strategy, don’t expect your opponents to do it for you.
This one is my favorite, I can see bunzy run
*edit I must say that this video is probably doctored by the CIA to make bunzy and [OG] look bad however. Ancient Aliens probably had something to do with it too.
Hard to see whats happening in this video even at 1080p. I could clearly make outa few pugs and one or two OG members.
BT is far from a roaming guild, your title is more correctly justified as a zerg guild. You portal bombed us today while we where watching you guys fight DB. 30+ people came through that portal so many that I lagged slightly. Hardly considered a roaming guild.
We usually have around 15-20 on, 30 would be ossum though. I can remember a time I when ULTD was till around and even though there were 15-20 of us, we would still be called a zerg guild.
I think the definition of zerg no longer means: mindless mob of people. I think now it means: any group of players that has more than you. I know the time I spent in the Titan Alliance, one could call PRX or Condemned a zerg just because they had hundreds of players. But that does not take away their success, their ability or their coordination. Being a larger force is not a crutch and being a smaller force does not make you elite.
I often hear people say, “we got zerged” as if it’s some comfort to know you got rolled over by a bunch of players. Maybe is just a phrase to save face.
Regardelss, good fights though against everyone, very fun so far. We have been having a blast, TS has just been a riot since reset. Remember, this is game and if you are not having fun, you are doing it wrong.
I won’t condemn an entire server but guilds like BT badge farming is annoying and sucks the fun out of WvW. I am hoping those guilds run into Kaineng so they can feel the multi-zerg pain. In the long run, I hope ANet reduces the zerg effect to a large degree.
I think the best way to avoid us (BT) is to turtle in a tower or keep. We really only like to hit things to entice folks to come out to play or we go where the crossed swords are.
You may not like the way we play, plenty don’t (even our server), but we play the way we do to discourage our enemies from coming out to fight so that the rest of our server has an easier time sieging keeps and towers with 100 arrow carts on them.
And we have a heck of a fun time doing it.
Just curious about the WvW skills and/or ranks. How will they be accrued? Does our current participation in WvW affect future skills/ranks? Will WvW skills be class based or more like DAoC Realm Ranks?
Keep it civil, keep it clean and keep it open.
You should already see the amount that Maguuma no curr about getting forum banned for a few days. I’d give up the argument and let the mod do what he or she sees fit.
Now where’s a salad with the score?
Unfortunately I have found that it is not at all difficult to get a infraction on these forums. It may be a good thing overall but it sure breeds some very thin skinned individuals that report others at the drop of a hat.
Although I in no way think DB is a bunch of exploiters anyone and everyone that has played mmo’s knows the fastest way to get a gaming company to “fix” something is to bring it to the forums.
I wasn’t a believer until I posted about the Golem in a Box issue and it got the Fergmans attention. Its going to be removef , finally.
Anyone from the [BT] guild on FA in this thread? Just seen you guys rolling round on Mag BL against our defences and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more organised group.
Extremely impressive. Apparently rather isolated from the rest of your server it seems, and a bit too interested in karma training round supply camps for some reason, but maguuma is going to learn a lot from you.
You should transfer over here. Your skill and our ability to actually organise the map population – we make beautiful babies.
Thank you for your compliments. In Black Talons, our primary purpose is wiping out players. We are not huge fans of siegeing tower or keeps, we enjoy the open fields. If you make crossed swords, we are probably going to be there.
I highly doubt we will be moving to another server. FA has provided us with a lower pop server that gives us opportunities to fight larger servers with bigger zergs. Maguuma has some classy players (forum trolls aside) and we respect you as opponents, but we are quite committed to our server and will be for a very long time.
We can still make babies though.
Make sure you watch our Weekly Recap Video as well!
Fort Aspenwood Weekly Recap Video featuring Black Talons is complete.
Please enjoy and watch at your leisure!
So, I fooked up on this video, the video was suppose to stop at around 12 minutes. Fixing and reuploading soon.

If FA were smart, they would let us win this week so they wont have to put up with us next week.
If ever a person put a foot in their mouth, it was this guy.
I hope enough of the CD guilds that left come back to this thread. I have an excellent weekly recap video that is rendering right now.
Many of those guilds that left are featured in it.
It is unfortunate that KH left, always had fun fighting them.
@TG – Terror Gaming
Had some awesome fights against you last night. However, the theory we (BT – Black Talons) had 10 more than you is false. If anything, the numbers were closer to even. We only had 15 giuldies with about 6 others following us.
I provide this video as evidence. Form your own conclusions.

umm no, the outer gate has been down for well over two hours, I know because I logged off at 3am or I risk oversleeping and missing work.
There was a try to take down south keep gate, then trebbing/cata which we wiped with a treb on the inside, then third time around you built trebs farther back so we can’t take them out.
So yes, the timestamp is wrong because the Bay battle was a long kitten one.
Let me post the video for you again.
Watch from the beginning of the video, right when we entered from the time until we capped it, near the end of the video (before the arrow cart farm).
The time stamp is correct.
Battle at the Bay video against CD was a blast tonight.
So epic. Tasty, tasty bags.
You forgot to include the part where it took 3 hours to take that keep.
But congrats, pat yourself on the back
.
Funny, from the time we entered the keep and the time it flipped, it was around a half hour. Unless the time stamp is wrong.
FA – 93,951
DB – 74,672
CD – 64,659
Battle at the Bay video against CD was a blast tonight.
I would like to confirm to all of our opponents that Fort Aspenwood does indeed double team you.
Sometimes just the ‘Fort’ part of our server attacks you, until the ‘Aspenwood’ part shows up from behind.
So yes, we do double team.
Ya, they should nerf this.
You can buy them in Metrica Province for 8 copper a piece. They increase in power off your stats. Was getting hit by them for 5-8k, you can just spam them on a target.
It probably should be nerfed or removed.
Finally this thread has some substance! Awesome videos. all around.
I’ve seen AVTR on the field a couple of times, so it’s nice to finally put a face to a name
We’ll look out for you. RET usually hangs out on EB between 5-9PM PST if any of you are looking for a fight, you’ll likely find us there.
I absolutely loved the Fort Aspenwood christmas song
Was that written or did you just record some drunk fool on voice comms? :P
(Speaking of which, that was some pretty mean FA presence on Christmas… silly CD and their silly family obligations. Should have been playing more GW2!)
That is me singing.
First, the WvW Holiday Music Video
The othervideo: Unlimited’s Weekly Recap Video. I personally think it is pretty bawls.
Name says it all.
I have really liked this matchup so far (lack of population due to holidays not withstanding).
Keep it up, fun fights.
The interview was cool with having 2 devs on it. I remain hopeful for the future of WvW. The ossumness of RvR in DAoC was not immediately rewarding beyond the killing in RvR but the RvR blossomed into something players loved.
I have similar hopes for WvW. It’s what I love most about GW2.
Oh, and thank you all for the nice compliments on the song. I think I will drink more often and do more of that stuff. I know me and my friends had a blast the night I recorded it.
If they don’t remove Arrow Carts, they should at least nerf the dmg, decrease the range and increase the cost.
The effect that arrow carts currently have is just to powerful.
At least they are not like beta…
Let’s be honest here: they are still to powerful.
Nerf them or get rid of them. Make sieges more fun and competitive.
Trials of Atlantis.
Nothing wrong with being insane. That said, thank you for the compliments and I hope you all enjoyed it!
Part of that Greenlake Tower fight is in the WvW Music Video:
Carlie Ray Jepsen is the bestest artist in the world. I took her “Call Me Maybe” song, maybe the best in the world with some Jack Daniels and Coke and began to sing. I changed the lyrics to reflect a WvW focused lyric thingy style.
Anyway, I present to you: Respawn Maybe
24.6k kills
I think I have gotten around 5k badges so far, maybe more.
I think a lot of people who WvW the majority of the time come from games like DAoC, Darkfall, PotBS, EVE, or any game involving massive open PvP/RvR. These kind of players are use to having their style of play in the their games of choice reward them equally when compared to other activities in those games.
Then comes along GW2 with a WvW system that brings back so many good memories akin to DAoC. I think the hard feelings about the current state of WvW comes from both parties: The players for having to high of expectations for the WvW portion of the game and ANet for failing to fully implement a system that rewards the WvW focused population.
I truly hope WvW in GW2 becomes something like RvR in Dark Age, I really do. If ANet continues to focus on things like fractals and dungeons and leaves the WvW focused players in the dust, well ANet will be their own ‘Trials of Atlantis’ to those players.
post scriptum,
google Trials of Atlantis if you don’t know what it is
Was a fun week everyone! Looking forward to the next matchup!
You should check out the weekly recap video of this week’s past fights. Was a hoot of a time.

10 minutes of glorious slaughter against TC at the Vale. Surrounded and outnumbered. We meant to just roll in and take the camp, but TC does not back down so easily. We took advantage of that and had a blast. Thanks for the fight!
WvW has but one incentive for [ULTD], war. Winning said fights through superior tactics. The server may not be number one, but when we hit the field it’s your keeps or your blood. We’re going to take one of the two, if not both.
Isn’t that why we bought this game?
I have to say some of the tactics I have seen you guys use, makes me grin. Yes, I get my rear end handed to me, but I always learn something every time. Believe me, when I see ULTD, I tend to think twice before acting. And I like that.
I am one of the WvW Commanders in ULTD.
We have one goal in WvW: Prosecute our enemies and kill them repeatedly.
Often times we forgo the opportunity to make a server wide tactical decision in favor of what we do best: WvW wide murder. The battlefield is our home.
If we see an opportunity to assault a tower only that another server’s proud zerg can continually push their group against our might few, we will do it and farm them for an hour.
If we see an opportunity to put up crossed swords on an objective with soul purpose of drawing out as many zergs against us as possible, we do it and then continually blast our way through your forces.
We like to let you regroup, take a tower or a camp and feel confident. Then we like to smash that confidence and roll your groups and zergs up into nice tasty loot bags. The feeling is even better when we hear you left the zone to go to another.
We might even let you kill a few and give the illusion we are running, only to turn around and punch you in the mouth.
You can take this message as a chest thump. We have already played in the T1 bracket as a founding member of the Titan Alliance. We have fought against the best and beat the best. We came to FA because there are fewer queues and the enemies we would face would outnumber us. More killing for us. More QQ tears to collect into little bottles and give to the WoW players as mana pots.
If you see our tag on the battlefield, its because you are right where we want you to be. It was not coincidence that we showed up on your screen, it was planned. We know how to manipulate the map to get our enemies to feed us kills, bags, badges and fights.
Good fights to everyone and see on the battlefield.
-Quenta
ULTD hopes everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with their families this weekend. I know the few of us on this long weekend had a lot of fun.
Our Thanksgiving fun:
