I like how TC & YB keep coming up with new ways to justify focussing FA. But it’s all good, farming your zergs last week got me more badges than any other matchup so far

You sir, no nothing about badge farming.

Let this guide enlighten you.

PVP Changes in WvW

Currently WvW uses the same skills as PvE, so PvP balance changes do not have an impact on WvW.

See, when I read stuff like that, I just get more of the feeling that WvW is not going to be like the the RvR in DAoC that I loved. Don’t get me wrong, I love WvW right now and it is the closest thing to DAoC that I have played in years, but my hope of WvW being something special rather than just an ‘extra’ thing to do gets crushed when WvW is pilled into the mamby pamby land of PvE.

Really, we have separate specs and gear for PvE, separate specs and gear for SPvP, why not for WvW?

WvW aficionados: Be worried about future gear.

The latest news from GW2 posted by Linsey Murdock unveiled that there is a new, upgraded tier of armor coming soon: Ascended gear. It’s item level is between Exotic and Legendary. According to the post, the only way to get this gear is to do high level difficult dungeons.

As a primary WvW player, I find this concerning for me and members of my guild. Chiefly because we don’t like that we would have to spend so much time in mamby pamby land with the PvE content to get gear to compete and remain competitive in the WvW environment.

Hopefully WvWers will be able to attain the same kind of gear through WvW means.

I see people complain about the turtle so often and its really not a tough nut to crack.

Is it annoying and harder to destroy than just a zerg of players running around? Sure.

Let’s be honest though, it really is a talentless tactic that just screams, “PLEASE, GOD OF FARMING, WE HAVE OFFERED OURSELVES UP TO YOU IN A BIG GROUP AND ARE PREPARED TO BE SACRIFICED!”

I think one of the biggest thing some people have problems with is getting enough badges. There are two situations that you can get into that will help yield a large amount of badges by killing a large amount of players.

One of these is what I call a Tower Farm: essentially take the tower and do not cap it. Just farm the players repeatedly coming in.

The other is farming those stacks of players. Easy to overcome, I am making another video showing how 13 of us were able to wipe out, repeatedly, large 30+ groups of players all stacked in one ball of fail.

For right now, this video shows an explanation of the Tower Farm and the Ball of Fail farm methods.

Windows 8 and GW2. Worth it?

Anyone using it? Anyone apprehensive about it? Most of the stuff I have read is that there is very little performance loss when going to Windows 8. Can anyone confirm this?

I guess I am looking for folks who are using W8 now and would like to hear their feedback on their GW2 experience in W8.

That looks okish when you do it but if you are the attacked ones , the rendering issue is so high until you notice somthing is coming you are dead , others call it mesmer exploit

I won’t lie, that rendering issue is a bad one.

I think what was causing the most damage to our enemies wasn’t our tactics, but that they never adjusted to it. They never watched their flanks and allowed us to portal bomb them unmolested.

Flanking is one of the most effective strategies in any game. It is especially effective in this game. However, I always see groups (even WvW guilds) fighting these face to face battles. Rarely do you see groups pull away from the mass and unplug themselves from that encounter. A small group of players can effectively turn the tide of a battle by surprising the enemy and bolstering their allies.

This vid shows an example of this.

And portals.

I call it Portal Bombing. Never heard that word before, but that’s what I call it. I trademark that chit.

There is a Vista in the Diessa Plateau that requires you to utilize a cannon to shoot you up on top of a tower is bugged. I tried a week and a half ago and it was still bugged. When I click on the NPC, it says the content is disabled. I read somewhere to click on the cannon itself. The cannon is not clickable.

Queues for WvW: The Official Thread

Thanks for that update Mike, its nice to hear something about the queues.

I have to say, for me personally, the current WvW situation has been a bittersweet experience for me, more on the bitter side. I loved DAoC. It was my heroin. I almost didn’t graduate because of it ;-). I was a RvR nut. Every MMO I played after that was just something to handle that ‘fix’ I needed to fulfill the memories of the awesomeness of DAoC’s RvR.

Then came GW2 and I heard about WvW. I played the betas. It was like a dream come true. Literally. I could not believe my fortune. My friends and guildies were just elated. That first BWE1 was a slice of heaven. I don’t remember the last time I was up for >24 hours. I was in the same happy place in GW2 WvW that I was in DAoC.

But these queues have really killed it for me and my buddies. The elation we felt for this game has been killed by 6 – 8 hour queues. I know some friends and guildies that have quit already, hoping they return of thing get fixed. If not, I will probably be another player leaving GW2. I just want WvW in all its glory.
