The Week In Review:

Ahhh… I am so thankful this week has almost run its course.

I am as shocked as I can be to award T2 (including FA?!?) the Fluffyhooves Memorial Good Sportmanship Award for best Matchup Thread. (Although I shouldn’t be “too” shocked – Kain you guys were awesome on the Forums this week!)

Blackgate tried to keep T1’s in a good place, but as we know ourselves from experience SoR (and some of BG’s SoS Transfers) have great talent at bringing out other’s “Inner Kittens” so to speak.

I give the T3 Thread the “Les Mis/Moulin Rouge Mash-Up” Award – I laughed, I cried, I’m still not sure what I just experienced and will probably never understand it all… I just hope that in the end I’m better for the experience (and haven’t caught anything contagious and untreatable).

Looking forward to Reset tomorrow – May Bags and Ticks Forever Be In Your Favor!

Now now, there’s a very good reason for us to come here. Aside from the chance to say “Hi!” to our friends on Kaineng, the trolling from Mags just feels like 12 year olds looking up at their T1 older brothers and hoping they are doing it right even though they don’t really know what the words they are saying mean.

It makes many of us on TC nostalgic for the special kind of trolling we became so familiar with from FA. And I personally have too much respect for FA to want to pull their “pro trolls” down into the T3 thread as that’s kinda like a high school student getting sentenced to detention… in middle school.

First Yak Parade… they crashed the party and slaughtered our yaks. We wiped them off the map. It’s been war ever since.

With the limited number of Skills/Abilities available because of how Weapons work in GW2 a “radius” damage system like others proposed is much better than yours.

It’s not a good idea to make so many skills useless in so many situations by nerfing single target damage.

Im not against this system, im just against the current system of it being capped at 5 people. The radius damage makes sense too, although, with lag, might prove to be a real challenge for many people to ever hit people with the center area of their aoe attacks. But then again, this is why targeting larger groups would prove to be beneficial, more chance of getting at least some targets in the center of the radius.

I don’t understand, are you promoting AoEs being stronger the more targets they hit? that’s what caused them to be nurfed to a 6 player target limit in the first place.

Quite simply they need to remove the cap and introduce scaling damage from the center of the AoE. 100% from center to 25% at edges, fixes all problems and discourages heavy stacking.

Im saying that at 5 targets or more, it does the listed damage of the ability, no cap on the number of targets

And any fewer than 5 targets = reduced aoe damage.

AoE spells should be pretty worthless vs 1 enemy.

Tier 2 and Tier 1 are just light years ahead in tactics and open field strategy and this should be a lesson to anyone who is in tier 1 or 2 and would even consider dropping down on purpose… you will probably get bored fast.

I wouldn’t say that is completely true. [AoN] from DB is really strong, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there are at least a few other DB and Mags WvW Guilds that are also really tactically strong – it’s just they are either taking the week off against the “Zombie Horde” or their tactical strengths are in the 5-15 player group range.

What I would say is T2 offers a lot more tactical variety than T3 (at least our current match-up). There are a lot of large group strategies you just simply can’t pull off with the average player-base of a T3.

Okay, I’m confused as to what point you’re trying to make here. Please explain this to me, as I don’t have multiple degrees and am not a smart person.

I was replying to Guardians point that our “skills was being drowned out” by our numbers. Just wanted to pointed the irony of that comment when you were in T4.

How is that irony? I just said all we did was zerg around. We outnumber Yaks/CD/EBay, it’s not something we’re hiding. Whoever is saying Mag did well in T4 because of leet skills is lying. But I have no idea who this is or what you’re attempting to argue.

Would you believe that TC is pretty much doing the same as you guys? We’re really just trying to get out of this tier….You can keep telling everyone how skilled you guys are in here, but that didn’t really matter in T4 eh? You’re just another zerg server to them, and they’ll be just another zerg server to the tier below em.

You aren’t facing the TC that battled for weeks in T2. Outside of Reset you are facing a lot of random Alts, PvEers going for Map Completion, rookie Commanders getting some experience, and the usual “Fairweather Fighters” who only show up when the Maps are all your color.

For weeks outside of Reset it was very rare to see queues for WvW outside of maybe minimal ones on TCBL and EB. This weekend I was running into 45 minute queues all over the place.

If these people actually showed up and fought while we were in T2 we would likely still be there.

So just like you wouldn’t want those T4 Servers judging you on your “ kitten zerg” gameplay down there, don’t judge us on what you are seeing this week.

With your implosion coming after the switch to Paid Transfers you will probably settle in nicely in the T3-T5 range. Your PPT in T2 currently is much too high for a total freefall to T8.

To go from this Thread to a poster bragging about his “PvP Prowess” ganking our PvE players in a JP…

I think it would be fantastic if ANet could create a “special” Tier that permanently included SoR, Mags, and either FA or DB. I’m pretty sure they would enjoy each others company on the Forums.

CoJo mentioned in an interview he’d like to see a “League Table” system (with Relegation) put into place (similar to European Soccer/Football).

2-4 Tiers with rotating matchups would at least provide more variety even if they wouldn’t always be balanced.

I think 4 Tiers with 2 Relegation/Promotion spots at the end of a “Season” would actually be a lot more interesting than the current “Ratings Locked” matches.

Its simple. When you are dead you can’t deal damage. And in zerg fights bunker builds gives you the highest survivability. Your lack of damage is made up by your other zerg mates.

When you want to roam, you should go glass cannon so you can kill your foe before his help arrives. When you go with zerg, you should go bunker build.

If either BG or TC move out of T2 this week, I just wanted to say that it has been a pleasure fighting you all! I’ve personally learned so much and can’t wait to use it to dismantle the next opponent so we can be together again!

Sounds like you guys yell “unfair advantage” when somebody comes up with a clever tactic. All I’m going to bring up here is the Trojan Horse, it was a proven tactic from ancient greece, since then governments and police agencies around the world have implemented spies and deep cover operatives. This in my eyes this is no different, and branches from a concept that works. I am all for clever things so my vote goes with the guys who do it well, and the first time I saw a dead mesmer being rez’d by a thief was PiNK from Tc, and I was amazed. Good on them for tricking us, mad respect guys.

Torture has also been used throughout history yet I really don’t want it as part of my gaming experience :P

Focusing on the game – it’s a fine line that ANet has to set. “Dead” spies and “zombie” Mesmers might add an interesting element to the game but it also might be nice if they gave us some hard counters – like the ability to forceably remove said bodies.

What I do find “torture” and not at all fun is mindless spamming melee attacks and AoE along with 10 other people to try to hit somebody who may or may not be there, with virtually no in-game feedback if I did or not.

Yeah I’m sure it is great fun for the Thief, but it kinda goes against ANet’s stated goals for the game for one person to have a lot of fun at the expense of 10 others.

I think the time for someone that can stay dead, e.g. a mesmer perhaps, inside a tower or keep should be limited to five minutes.

I think a class that has been publicly stated isn’t intended to have perma stealth shouldn’t be able to heal from dead while perma stealthed.

I think the healing paths e.g. through walls or vertical distances, should be looked at, I believe I have a screen shot of a bug.

I think 2 players, one of them dead, should not be able to undermine the keep or tower defense of 5-10 people and their siege by circumventing them through permastealth and a mesmer portal.

To be honest, I agree with all of your points (although I think defeated players should only have a 1 minute countdown before respawning at the nearest WP).

I’d also go even farther and say that I’d rather see Stealth implemented like the Drake Thieves just outside LA and instead of dropping target gives the the Thief a +50% Evasion buff.

But neither of us work for ANet and set the rules, so while I’m sure we both feel this is how things should be, they aren’t and it’s best if you accept the rules as they are.

You must know that Sam is far from the only C&D Thief out there, and while he is very talented and patient every Server from T1 to T8 has thieves and mesmers using the exact same tactics to flip Keeps and Towers day in and day out.

There are several Threads both in WvW and the Profession forums where we can lament and provide suggestions to ANet on what Thieves and Mesmers do to the game… but this is not that place.

This has been a generally good matchup against tough, determined, yet respectful opponents. It’s likely going to last for at least another week or two.

Let’s try to keep it that way

[RISE] had a blast for +16hours since reset in EBG!! constant flip on SMC was epic! awesome zerg v zerg inside lord, field combat, flanking and none stop zerg!.. I just wish TC was able to push EB but na they roleplay making marshmallows/pillow fighting while they fortify their towers and keeps :P

yep we have some really nice people here that keep the rest of us in line, by bribing us with cookies, yaks parades and naked zerg swimming around the bay.

As the weeks go on, assuming we’re all still matched up (and I hope we are, because frankly these weeks have been awesome), it will get harder to maintain this upbeat thread banter. I’d like to make it the responsibility of participating servers to wrangle their own cranky-types and remind them it’s just a game and meant to be fun. If you see one of yours wrecking the vibe, send them a PM and some cookies.

Playing a Mesmer in WvW, I’d happily accept a nerf to Veil if it came with a massive nerf to Thief in-combat Stealth abilities.

I hope my Portal ability gets shared with Engineers as I’d love to see them more valued.

All the other things have already been addressed by previous posters and really aren’t an issue.

If you have cough cough warrior it’ll be harder. Most warrior use hundred blade for aoe. But now they can’t tank 100 mob and have knockdown on them.

No if you have Stability/Control/Tanking/Support Warriors you are fine… if you have 100 Blades all Zerker Signet/MF Warriors you will die miserably…

Not completely accurate. SBI is truly a shell of their former selves. The ones left are bringing it as best they can but there just aren’t that many of them. We on TC like to bring a good fight but simply can’t come close to matching SoR’s coverage right now in any time period and without a 3rd Server to bleed off SoR’s attention they can focus solely on us. (Plenty of overnight screenies of SoR building multi-layered Siege at opposing Spawn Points :P)

If Millenium this morning remains accurate next week could see a lot of intensity at the very least:
T1 – JQ-SoR-SoS: Expecting a pretty fierce bloodbath

T2 – BG-TC-FA: BG owning the night while FA tries to “get their hate on” against TC, more blood (predicting this Tier will win “Fastest to Lock” on the Forums :P)

T3 – Kaineng-Maguuma-DB: “Clash of the Bandwagons”

T4 – SBI-YB-CD: I expect this to be the most enjoyable match next week for all its participants. Gutty, Classy, and Tenacious fighters on all 3 Servers hopefully with relatively even populations after the “Transfer Holocaust”

They would have to implement a “floor” though – “gaming” your proposal by only sending in an “elite squad” of 5 to artificially cap your opponents at 10 would be rather lame as well.

They have also already said that transfer costs will be determined by Server population (though I doubt at the costs you are suggesting).

Another thing they can do is add Average WvW Population for the week to the Ratings calc – that way the Servers that truly can accomplish more with less will be rewarded.
