I actually find that Illusionists aren’t that bad, especially if you have time to select appropriate skills for them. As an engi, I can just CC them to death. Hunters are much more of a problem for me.

1. Elite Risen Hunters – because of the perma-stability, summons, and high damage
2. Inquest Technicians (Arah p2) – that perma-stun
3. Elite Vile Oozes – they move faster than you do in combat speed and can do alot of damage in a short amount of time.
4 + 5. I’ll have to add these later.

It turns out to be possible to do this without healing gear; it is just much harder to pull off because the bandages heal much less. New video showing this at
http://youtu.be/ZNpSM-ju4Gs

build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQBVyOl+u25F3tw6lICG0orxPScotuAA-e

description of the run:
Go to the rock you can jump on/over. Equip med kit. Drop a stimulant (skill 5) somewhere before the rock you are on. Drop 3 bandages in a row after the rock. Drop supply crate at the second corner (50% point). Drop 3 more bandages between your first set of bandages and the supply crate drop. Drop another stimulant near the bandages. Run back to the corrosive light globe; as you do, trade med kit for AED, equip elixir gun, and use super elixir (skill 5). Take an orb of light. Use super speed (toolbelt skill) and rocket boots for great distance. Pick up all bandages and stimpacks on the way and use healing mist (toolbelt skill). Activate AED when your health drops to 30% after you pick up all the bandages from supply crate. Aim and use rocket boots when its available again. Place the orb in the globe (and hope the NPC doesn’t mess you up by talking to you, as she did to me the first time i made it – not in the video).

Special thanks to SlyDevil for the idea to use gadgeteer and super elixir (elixir gun skill 5).

Thanks for the compliments everyone

Nice but why not start with elixir gun #4?

I just tried that once, and rocket boots doesn’t come off cooldown soon enough if i do that. I tried it naked though to try without healing gear. I plan on testing more stuff on Sunday. I’ll update if I can manage without healing gear.

Hello engimaster. Would you like to share your wisdom and contribute to gw2dungeons?

If yes, head over to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Looking-for-little-help-with-gw2dungeons/first

I’ll try to post there as I think of stuff later. I don’t run meta builds though, so might wanna keep that in mind for any info I post. For starters though, “toss elixir b” is useful against abom boss in arah path 2 – just toss it on whoever is in charge of rifles as the abom stomps to prevent the knockback (stability).

Here is my video for soloing the orb of light in Arah as an Engineer. As far as I know I’m the first to do this without resorting to consumables (portal device).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AwqjyDuvNA

Here is the build I used (only the important traits are selected): http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQFAEnUISfX25FseREBjZk18ToteAA-ThwCgA6q/A4BwfAA-e

After some testing I found out that the orb does damage as a percentage of your max health (15% per tick) and toughness doesn’t reduce it. So, you should be able to use any gear that has +Healing Power, but not Vitality.

I know the video quality isn’t too great, but this is my first recording; I had to downscale the recording (done with OBS) or there would be alot of dropped frames, and going back to the lower resolution was uncomfortable and would require me to change my whole desktop resolution (I tried just the game resolution, and it wouldn’t record properly). If I do alot of future recordings, I might buy a separate capture card to produce better recordings.

edit: calculated the actual percentage damage taken from the orb = 15%. adjusted above too

Thumper turret blast finisher?

in Engineer

It works outside of combat (at least in PvE). You just have to time it correctly. It provides 3 blast finishers (1 from overcharge, 1 from blowing it up, and one from toolbelt). the correct sequence is: drop and immediately overcharge thumper turret, drop big ol bomb, and drop either fire (for might) or smoke (for stealth) bomb. then, blow up the turret once the bomb goes off and use the toolbelt.

So you use rifle turret , tool kit and rocket boots and don’t use grenade kit?

Does that mean you will be camping rifle for most of the fight?

No, camp toolkit (or bombkit if you choose to use it). Grenades are only useful if you trait for them, and only because of vuln. Without traiting grenades, pretty much anything is better.

Its possible, its not easy though. I haven’t done a 100% solo, but I have solo’d the individual phases (phase 1 while a friend and I were just messing around in Arah, and the other 2 phases when PUGs wipe). Any way, here are the details of my current build:

Weapon: Rifle – jump shot gets you back into melee range fast in phase 3, and rifle 3 and 5 will take care of any grubs if you fail a dodge in phase 1. alternately, you can take pistol/shield if you can get back to melee range fast enough. don’t use dual pistol.

Traits: Firearms 2 – Hair Trigger – ensures rifle 5 is off cooldown by time he leaps again. put these points elsewhere if you are opting for pistol/shield
Inventions 6 – Fortified Turrets is the only necessary trait for this build – you can sort of learn the timing to place these (there is some RNG). be ready to dodge or block though, whether because you placed them too late, or one of his attacks got through and destroyed the turret. For the other 2 traits chooses whatever you want. I use power shoes (one of my favorite traits) and energized armor because i run celestial gear (if you’re running zerker, its probably best to chooses another trait)
Tools 6 – Static Discharge for extra damage. Power Wrench to put the toolkit block and prybar on shorter cooldowns. Andrenal Implant – increases your endurance recharge rate by 50% constantly.

Skills: healing turret and rifle turret provide the reflects for this build (and short cd toolbelt skills for static discharge). Toolkit – mostly because the block is necessary, but this is my main means of damage against Lupi as well. Rocket Boots – just in case he uses the dome, this can get you out. Switch to another turret or bomb kit if you think you can prevent the dome 100%. Supply Crate for your elite for some more reflects ( use in phase 2 for maximum effect).

For phase one, just keep smacking him with the wrench and use your toolbelt skills for static discharge when he summons locusts (bomb kit can take of them by itself if you opt to use that instead of rocket boots). If you get grubbed, back off and burst it down with rifle 3 + 5 and prybar. For the final grub (at phase change), back up just a little and drop a turret to protect you in case he uses the mass AOE.
For phase 2, try to time you turret drops to get the shield up just in time. if you’re too slow, use toolkit block. don’t forget to make use of static discharge – keep those toolbelt skills on cooldown.
Phase 3 is a little tougher. Try to learn when he is likely to use rapid fire on you and drop a turret accordingly (for me that is immediately after I leap back to him after his health steal). make the decision to pick up the turret for shorter cooldown or blow it up for static discharge. How you handle the rest of phase 3 should be largely based on your personal playstyle. I use the toolkit block for the targeted health steal and double dodge out of the AOE one. You may opt to do it the other way around (also depends on the current state of your endurance and cooldowns).

Oh man… they’ll pick Arah P2 just to prove a point about engis :P

What’s wrong with engis in Arah p2? Engis can do any skip and supply crate is useful for protecting the terminal at the final boss. Only Belka is a threat (being knocked into the barrels), but only if the party isn’t reflecting.

about "fortified turrents" skill

in Engineer

Rainmaker.7594

It actually seems to be slightly different from feedback (other than size and duration of course). Feedback reflects everything that goes through or is inside the dome. Turret reflects seem to reflect only things that pass through it, whether from the outside or the inside – if both the origin and the target are within the dome, it doesn’t seem to reflect. At least that is the experience that I get from it when fighting Alphard (Arah path 2).

The other major difference is the delay, as Zefrost has already stated. It is difficult to time, but if you do time it right (and get a little lucky) it is powerful against Lupi. Just keep in mind that its not as good as feedback because it covers a smaller area, and therefore reflects fewer projectile back at him.

Overall, its not something I’d recommend running around all of PvE with, but do try it out in appropriate situations (Lupi, Alphard, the boss of the harpy fractal, etc). I can’t comment as to how good it is in WvW or PvP, as I don’t do those.

Edit: forgot to mention – if using this against lupi, be wary of other players that might cause him to drop a dome on you – reflects provide no protection against that (bring rocket boots if you are with an inexperienced group).

Forified Turrets reflection delay

For PVE, so far I’ve only made good use of turret reflects against Lupi and the final boss in Arah path 1. For Lupi, it is fairly easy to time it correctly during phase 2, but phase 3 can be more difficult as it seems to sometimes cause him to drop the dome on you and the timing of his rapid fire attack is more random (I’m not entirely sure that it reflects the rapid fire damage back to him, but it does at least protect you against it). As for the final boss of Arah p1, it can be useful (especially if there is no mesmer or guardian in the party) because if the attack isn’t being reflected by the crystal, it won’t break.

It can also be useful against various other enemies (such as risen elementalists), but you are probably better off with other traits/skills (toss elixir u, if you need projectile defense).

Varra Skylark

I just get my revenge on her at the end of the path. Here is the story:
I was gathering reflect crystals for my party at the end of path 1. When I do this, I usually just run around the room until it reappears, then toss elixir s on myself and pick up the crystal and make my way towards the boss room. Then one day, Varra was standing in the center of the room shooting the spiders. Of course they ignored her and continued to chase me. When the crystal finally appeared, I stealthed myself as usual; When I did, every spider in the room instantly turned towards Varra and unleashed (including the 2 champ’s multi-AOE power attack). Despite the massive amount of HP the NPCs have, Varra went down in under a second. I found this quite funny to watch, and now try to make sure she is in the spider room when I stealth.

Updated Lupi Solo

Nice job. I’m not a speed clear person, but I thought I’d let you know of a way to possibly beat him even faster. I’ve been testing a turret reflect build against him, and it works very well. Its easy enough to time the phase 2 reflect to do max damage, however phase 3 requires a little luck (need him to use rapid fire, but not necrid trap, and also time the reflect well).

My skillset is healing turret, rifle turret, flame turret (they have the shortest cooldown), and bomb kit for phase 1 (if you find it acceptable to swap to toolkit at one of the phase changes, otherwise toolkit all the way for the block). I also use rifle instead of pistol/shield for 2 reasons: the main one is that with this build you run the risk of being domed, and lack utility skills to escape it; rifle 4 can get you out of the dome. The other reason is that rifle 5 gets you back into melee range instantly, while letting you save the toolkit shield for his targeted health steal.

I’m wondering though, since damage reflected seems to be based on the damage of the original source and the primary source of damage with this build is the reflects, if it might be worth it to let him eat some grubs since its only a 2% damage reduction, but a seemingly higher power increase.

Once again, I’m not a speed clear person, or even in berzerker gear. I just wanted to post the info for whoever might want to try it for a possibly even faster clear.

Rocket Boots Vs Elixir Gun

rocket boots is also useful in situations where you can’t equip a kit, such as the Arah explorable modes where you have to carry the orb of light – rocket boots allow you to carry it much farther before you have to pass it to somebody else. its also easier to aim where you are dodging to, more useful for example when avoiding the barrage in the Mai Trin fight in fractals.

Error Attempting to Sell

I’ve had this error many times, and recently I’ve figured out that it seems if you take a few steps forward (you can leave the trading window open), the error stops popping up. Before I figured that out, I was just closing and re-opening the tp window, which would usually only allow 1 or 2 more sales before the error come back.
