I’m Just gonna put this out there to all the people saying “that’s not ANETs fault” when you design a social game you need to design your systems with players in mind you can’t just throw something out and tell your players to “figure it out”, even if the actual mechanics of the content are good if you didn’t build the social structure to support it it’s still bad design.
These design problems mainly come into play with the lack of a proper LFR system, and the power creep from Elite Specs leading to some classes being very out classed and being unable to fill a role with similar efficiency as others, this leads to a very restrictive meta. Also before anyone says anything a good designer designs with the meta in mind.

Also you should know that anet said several times that you should not focus on a single toon, meaning that even if some classes are weak for raiding, you should have other classes for backup. In a game where making a level 80 toon and tuning it up for raiding takes less than 3 hours(HP train for elite+ 50g for exotic gear+ pretty much every1 is stacked on exp tomes by now), you are not allowed to complain that you can’t raid. You can complain that you can’t raid with the class you’d like, but at this point you have so many other options that this argument is completely invalid.

Raids are hard in a sense that u need 10 good ppl. Once u got that all u need is to set up a time every week where u do em, a decent run shouldnt take more than 2 hrs, ive been doing that for weeks and it feels casual to me, and thats how it should be once u nail it all down.
Raids feels harder if u dont have this privelige, so i understand why many feels frustrated and left out. However they can do something about it, its just a new type of challenge they havent overcome before.

No. You don’t need 10 good people. You need 10 people that can follow basic instructions and be in exotic gear. 10 good people is overkill

Its not just about basic instructions, things are heated during battle, several things happens at once and people need to sometimes multitask. If u consider the average gw2 player then yes the standard is ‘good’. The raids are easy for me as i consider myself a good player, but i am also priveliged as i have 9 other good people with me. Basic instructions, but being able to implement that into real play with variables is something more.

If one cant see beyond that then one should broaden their perspective.

I just finished a boredom VG pug. We beat it the 4th attempt. 3 people never raided before, after the first attempt they told us they didn’t knew any mechanics and we took 2 minutes to explain the fight. Most people in raid were in exotics. We finished with 2:40 on the clock. Raids aren’t about one being good, raids are about one not being mentally challenged.

OP you face the same problem as any old gw2 player. The kittenedly dumbed down pve made you accustomed to faceroll content, so naturally, raids(which from dumbed down content are at a medium difficulty tier) seem impossible to you. Don’t worry, getting practice will do miracles. But don’t expect big steps, it will take some time before you ascend from a complete noob to a decent player. Again, no insults intended, thousands of players are in the same spot as you are. For me, coming down from games like rift and wow, where raiding meant best gear and a lot of skill, I hopped onto a random pug and destroyed vg and gorse, after reading the wiki for about 15 minutes. Now I’m in a raiding guild and raids are total faceroll. And my first attempt was with 2 venomshare thieves, i was in full exotic, and i totally think that you can raid playing any class.

Unfortunately, gw2 is now going to focus on raids

They hired a separate team of coders for raids, in order to throw a bone to the 1% that had enough of far too easy PvE. Even so, raids are moderate difficulty at most

Roll backs to our sustain pre healing sig nerf with slight buffs to adrinal healing over that. So pre healing sig nerf with higher adrinal healing and higher healing surge(to the limit healing) Higher mending as well. This comes with the added HoT functionality.

Healing is an overal buff to warrior sustain over what it was when it was good.

Baseline rifile piercing on the skills that matter + a utility buff to rifle. Rifle builds sound to me to be less of a gimmick now or a 1 trick pony and something possibly viable.

A PVE nerf to condi warrior and a PVP buff to condi warrior. King of Fires change is a pretty strong buff to condi PVP warrior and its a slight nerf to auto stacking of burns with longbow in PVE.

They said King of Fires will be reworked, meaning that the 33% burn duration will no longer exist. Coupled with the -33% alacrity nerf @chronos, burnzerkers will be at most on par with the top DPS classes when it comes to large hitbox targets, and pure trash in any other form of content

You say that like the “other classes” don’t get hit by alacrity nerf as well

Really the only thing that will completely destroy the burnzerk build is if they change the functionality of Scorched Earth to no longer hit twice when overlapping fields

(Which is totally possible because it’s the same tech as the fixed CoR on Rev)

They do, but none as hard as burnzerker. Alacrity+scorched earth was totally OP(still is). If they go on with the balancing and make SE into a single field, The build would be totally dead in PvE

It should not have been more than 4 months, should have been 3 months, or once per quarter. Unfortunately, anet is very slow with producing gaming content, so its not surprising.

I really hope they have more gameplay content sooner than 6 month time gaps.

Release 4 major updates within an year, a raid wing that had 9 bosses, 8 of which were unplayable because of pushed unfinished content, which made half the playerbase quit including the top raiding guild. I’m sure as hell disappointed that Anet takes their time instead of pushing bugged crap down our throats. Freakin money grabbers man

Didn’t even realize that Apoth gave up on rift, but can totally see why. Quit myself after killing Aky, because screw more and more p2w cash grabs to do awful content.

I definitely prefer finished content over rushed content that doesn’t work.

Same, quit after Aky. They released 2 updates after, full of bugs. People in general quit because they added t2 gear sets and weapons in the store, pushing kids with money on the same level that hardcore raiders spent 7 months to achieve.

Nope, you are getting enough boxes and keys (via daily chests and stabilizing matrices that drop during the runs) solely out of the 9 daily fractals. Depending on (double) RNG and getting rings which are salvaged and then again the stabilizing matrices turned into more keys you achieve the difference of 10 to 25 direct gold. Till this moment you have neither bought anything from the TP nor sold stuff on the TP, it’s just the pure junk you are selling to the vendor. And selling to the vendor is always self-made direct liquid gold out of nothing.
If you buy additional daily keys (20 s + relics) from the vendor (not TP!) while having boxes you still stay in direct liquid gold range, so in my case (at the moment I have enough boxes on the bank due to running all 100 fractals) I can increase this direct liquid gold reward even more. But that is not the usual state of a daily fractal runner.
After all these calculations you are able to start to buy stabilizing matrices and boxes via TP but here you are leaving the area of direct liquid gold due to taxes and the fact that others were collecting the stuff for you but yeah, you are making more money yourself and this can go up to over 30 gold per day.

Let’s do the math.
You buy 30 keys(6 gold) and another 30 keys(9 gold) a day. That’s an obvious gold sink. A gold sink of 15 gold
You buy 70 boxes(I say 70 because opening 60 boxes will probably give you 10 extra keys anyway) at 20s each. Even though you “lose” 14 gold, that 14 gold remains in the circulation(buying from players isn’t a gold sink, it’s a gold transfer. The gold doesn’t get deleted)
So up to now you’re down 15+14=29 gold.
Now, we will open 60 boxes, get ~10 extra keys, open the remaining 10 boxes aswell. So, we can say we opened 70 boxes.
Average per box is ~47 silver. That being around 44 silver direct gold(selling stuff to NPC) and 3 extra silver from agony resistances/t5 materials/mew mew/whatevers.
So. You made a total of 47s*70=32.9 gold. 32,9 gold, where, after my close-enough numbers, we would have: 2,1 indirect gold from things you sell on the TP, and 30g 80s from vendor trash. That’s liquid gold. Now mate, let’s retrace our steps:
-Sync 15 gold by buying keys
-Circulate 14 gold by buying boxes
-Circulate 2.1 gold by selling mats/mewmews/agony craps
-CREATE 30 gold 80s by selling vendor trash

Even though our personal gold balance barely increased(3g 90s profit), we actually added 15 gold 80 silver to the economy. Even if my numbers are way off(lets say a delta error of 0.15% at most) that 0.15% out of the 15 gold 80s is still, in other words, a buttload of daily direct gold from fractals

There’s still a lot of other ways to get gold, but not directly, which is good.

Doing fractals ~anywhere from 15 to 30g an hour depending on group, fractal farmed(usually 40) and luck

There’s a lot of ways to get gold, yet none of them involve getting DIRECT gold ~ you get stuff that you transform into gold.

That’s wrong for fractals. Doing all dailies will give around DIRECT LIQUID 10-25 gold. Rares/exotics and some blue/green stuff are additional to that and non-direct gold.

I think what you did with the gold rewards and experience is a complete and utter joke, and quite frankly disgusting!

There are many people who enjoyed doing some quickly daily dungeons, and we’ve now had that stolen from us!

I do not understand why this was done in the first place?! Even if the new specializations made the runs faster, that’s a good thing! These were like chores we could do each day, but at least it was earning us good coin and tokens as well which we could use to buy exptics to salvage or throw in the toilet.

Sin’ce you’ve nerfed everything in this game, all loot everywhere, dungeons, fractals etc, I’ve struggled to get crafting materials. My only option is to spend 2-3hours in HoT zone events to get barely enough materials. compared to an hour or so in dungeons, this is now a grind-fest.

As I’ve stated before, there will always be an element of grind in the game. That’s expected. But before HoT we at least had a choice where we wanted to grind! We could chose to do events, or dungeons, or fractals etc. Now it’s events or nothing, because the loot elsewhere is simply not worth the effort!

You can still run them, they’re still there. But you won’t, suggesting that you only ran them for the money, not for the fun of running dungeons

Did a sw chest farm, got me 54 gold in exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes. Central Tyria is still better for gold farming.

This was because of people speedrunning dungeons and farming tons of gold, which were translated directly to a high influx of currency into the economy. Just like a country typing too many bills(Zimbabwe), where an 100000000000 $ bill is worth nothing. So they nerfed that. There’s still a lot of other ways to get gold, but not directly, which is good.
Mat farm ~20g to 30g an hour depending on how good you are
SW chest farm ~ anywhere from 25 to 50g an hour depening on group
Doing fractals ~anywhere from 15 to 30g an hour depending on group, fractal farmed(usually 40) and luck
Playing the Trading post~ anywhere from 10 to 70g an hour depending on how smart you are
There’s a lot of ways to get gold, yet none of them involve getting DIRECT gold ~ you get stuff that you transform into gold. Dungeons were nerfed bad, but that’s what happens when people abuse them.

So, I wanted my condi warrior because we really needed condis and people didn’t wanna play engi, right? Right, so I got commanded to roll vipers with nightmare/diamond+bursting/earth with sini trinkets, right? Right, but I’ve been thinkin’, instead of nightmare runes on burnzurkur, isn’t it better to go zerk runes for the additional condi damage and just go malice sigil+viper amulet… Or something like that.
I don’t know if the meta is changing at an alarming rate, I’m too annoyed and bored to bother searching deep into nerdholes.
I’ll go through another surging-runes-on-mes fiasco (kittenmit Tobi I’ll never forgive you and myself) only if absolutely necessary… Especially if there’s a nerf on the way.

If I recall correctly, Nike did the math for both builds, and he stated that the difference is negligible. So Use whatever floats your boat. Not a fun of zerk runes because condi war has the lowest auto attacks in the game, and also, earth sigil has 1337 bleedz

Raids at this point are do-able even with a bunch of non-meta classes. It’s been already proven that with a full meta/maxed gear you can easily have 3-4 mins left on the clock(thanks dnt). This shows a lot. Indeed, why would you take a 15k dps dragonhunter over a 30k dps burnzerk, or why would you take a daredevil over a revenant- but that’s actually player preference. Players like to play it safe, that’s why there’s a lot of LFG requirements such as meta builds and gear. I don’t really know casual guilds that decline members from joining just because they aren’t meta. And if there are such guilds, then sorry, you’re with the wrong crew.

Point is, burnzerker is working as intended, it’s the people that over play it because, well, again, this spec is made for bosses and bosses only, and kitten, it excels at them. Since it’s below average in literally 99% of the game(wvw,pvp, any form of pve that doesn’t involve sustained dps on large hitbox targets with a lot of health) I can assure you that if its damage gets nerfed, you’ll never see a burnzerker again, in any form of content.

dodging will always result in dps loss, thats why you dont dodge when you dont have to.

except for reve, the class that actually keeps dpsing even when dodging cough unrelenting assault cough

different classes are different, even tho i wish rev had a more complicated rotation because the difference between bad, good and great revs would be even bigger.
and so far 9/10 revs dont know how the class works.

There’s absolutely no difference between bad and great revenants in a raid setup. Because any bad can learn to manage the energy/rotation properly in less than 30 minutes. You’re a great player? Well sorry, that’s all what the class has to offer right now. Also, any moron can get a full ascended set in less than a week. Since reve is 95% auto-attack, the class lacks any “jukes” since pretty much most rev skills are a dps loss. I have many good players in my friends list, and every single one of them rerolled from reve because of the low skillcap that makes it so popular. Including myself. Frustrating, right?

Bumping for bumping’s sake is against forum rules, and mods aren’t programmers etc. The lifetime shown on that isn’t what matters. Did you actually check the achieve panel for Auric Basin? I had no trouble getting both mastery points, nor did other people I know.

i wouldnt rely on what people say/said in bad class guides if i were you and as soon as there arent any adds in the boss fight your dps will be lower than PS warrior dps. happy birthday.

I would rely on my raiding experience as a revenant and call its 7k auto attacks(every ~0.66 seconds) and 9k(when target is under) 50% OP. Pop an Elemental blast when it’s off CD and I do a solid 16-17k dps. If I wanna do that “ultra hard energy management rotation” which relies on using 1 extra skill by the way, I bring strong team support(50% boon duration on chrono alacrity/quickness is incredible strong) and strong DPS. Not saying reve is OP, just saying a class should either be a strong DPS or a strong supporter, not both. Reve auto needs a a little tune-down to bring that sort of balance, and that balance would be achieved by nerfing sword auto by a lot, and increasing sword2/axe4/axe5 so it becomes a real “energy management” class, because the energy management now is a bad joke. If anyone finds hard doing a kittenton of DPS while keeping all asigned boons up, well sorry, they’re suffering for massive l2p issues

I don’t know, how exactly does other people playing particular fractals affect you? Was your boss going to give you a raise, but then said “oh, you don’t run the fast fractals? Go be poor”. Did your wife leave you? Kids flunked out of high school? I really don’t get this stupid kitten argument. I recently did my 1-100 fractals for ze first time, and I had no issues at all filling parties for the “non swamp” fractals. It took me at most 5 minutes to fill for the most annoying ones. So again, how does other people’s choice of fractals affect you?

Commit? Hell, I did not know the only thing HoT brought was raiding. kitten, I want my money back!
Also, I heard that Anet will only be developing raids for the rest of their lives! That PvP update that made tons of people PvP for leagues surely must’ve been an anomaly, probably some raid-intended code that was so buggy it turned into a massive ranked PvP thing. kitten they suck at coding!
No honey, this game has casual players, most of them being either on a tight schedule or lacking skill, and other players, the ones you would call no lifers, the ones that either are good at playing the game, or that simply have more time to spend in it than you do. Either way, since this game has absolutely no challenging content, Anet threw in raids. Which, to be honest, are only challenging for the casual community, since the good players had no diffuculty issues with running them. So if we’re to be real, poor “tryhards” didn’t even get some hard content. So wheres the bullkitten commitment you were talking about?

Tho I agree with most points in this thread, burnzerker is a boss annihilator. It takes a while to build up its damage(around 10 seconds I’d say) before it reaches a power build’s damage. My glint/shiro reve is eating CoF elite packs alive, while my burnzerks takes thrice the time to kill those. Also, in any content where the mobs move a lot(chargers mostly) the dps is very hard to build. I understand that people complain that burnzerk is OP on raid bosses, but in truth it is just op on things that allow for sustained damage(so big health stuff and big health stuff that doesn’t move a lot).
Burnzerk is average in regular PvE and shines at Bosses. While it takes around 3 scorched fields to get to 7-8k burn ticks on HoT mobs, my reve does 8k on 0.75 seconds auto attacks like there’s no tomorrow.
So before calling for a nerf on burnzerk, consider that it is only OP in less than 1% of the content. Indeed, that 1% is “supposed” to be the hardest content in the game, but nerfing burnzerker would ruin it for the rest of the PvE. I’d say make scorched earth only hit once per target(so no more multiple squares). That’ll considerably lower the DPS in raids while keeping the dps in other forms of PvE the same.

A lot of non PvP-ers(me and my friends included) joined because of the leagues. Ye balance is broken and we all play dragonhunters(wup wup ez wins) but still, we’re PvPing, which we never did, so I gotta say PvP is in a good place now. Also, what others said, lots and lots of people in HotM

and a burnzerk(nike’s buid) in WvW, there was a zerg rushing us today and even tho we got wiped, i had gotten 1120 rank exp from kills, just by spamming fire aoes, dem 2-3k ticks on every enemy are OP as hell in zergs

After a month of bug reports and support tickets, they told me to post it on the forums in hope that a Dev will see it and fix it for me. My problem is that the lifetime achievements(the one that give 40k and 1 mastery point/80k and 1 mastery point) are at 0/2 in my case, even though i do the adventure daily, get 30/30(gold), and get all 3 reward chests(bronze and silver and gold). So please, either fix it or auto complete it because I really need those chievs. Cheers

One can spend hours searching for a DS map with 3 commanders, and even then, finishing it is dicey because people afk / don’t follow advice for the tower phase, etc.

“New DS map, needs commanders” is often present in LFG.

AB is easier, and TD is…

AB and VB are always full. TD sometimes. DS never. Gotta say you’re half right, even if you can hop on a massive event at any times, it is limited due to them belonging to either AB or VB, because the 2 other areas are almost always empty. But still, 50% isn’t really total bull

I sure love the holidays. Especially this one, because it’s winter. Offer people gifts, be kind to each other, and have fun with your loved ones.

And something occurred to me.

Was doing the weekly race with our guild mates, when one of the wintersday presents spawned in front of us. A gift spawned, along with some bunch of skritts.
You know the skritts. Rodent humanoids that have a particular thing for collecting junk. In this case, they weren’t harming anybody, just enjoying their nice little present box. Our new friends here were probably trying to deliver that gift to their young. Like any good parents would do. So what did we do?

STEAL THE GIFT AND kittenING SLAUGHTER ALL OF THEM. Very wintersday-ish

That´s all nice and fine Raizen, But do you realize that the way you describe how things are within raids organization are like organizing a meeting too?
You gather your paperwork while a secretary calls in the meeting. Then you present your stuff, it fails to win the CEO for some reason, you try again until it works and he shakes your hand just to forget who you are the next try with a new project. Of course you and your project team are a tight group because you have all the right tools and people together, but if you were a bowling team that plays once in a few weeks, you would be tight too.

If you want to make a job with a timetable out of GW2, fine. I don´t want to and surely don´t want Anet to give massive ressources to this kind of gameplay of my casual and lazy ways suffer from it.

Mate you’re 100% right. And I swear that your point was of my highest concern when HoT came out. But I think I wrote my idea somewhere around the forums back then. I stated that indeed people with a short time table were right, and in no way would they be able to have lots of play times to find pugs/ clear the raid with them in a short amount of time/ or even do this with a guild at fixed hours. But my sad little point was that they’ll have to endure a while, when mostly everyone else had run the raid a few times, and even if the find-a-pug/ get-your-guild-into-the-fray time problem is still there, the relative amount of time needed to clear the boss/wing once you got that 10 man composition should decrease in time. If on 23rd october nobody except beta raiders knew what to do in the raid, now, 2 months later, the chances are that half your pug already ran it a few times. In 3 months, probably 80% ran it a few times. And that should make your raiding experience more pleasurable, since you’ve spent a lot of your total gaming time by finding a team.

But again, raids are by default a huge time investment. You should not expect to be able to fully raid when you barely got time to play. I quit RIFT in october because university+girlfriend wouldn’t allow me to keep on raiding 4 nights a week, and without those 4 raids I couldn’t have remained in the game’s 0.1% elite. So yes, I quit one of my favorite games solely because time didn’t allow me to keep myself relevant in the “cool kids group”. Luckily, this isn’t the point in Guild Wars. You don’t have to farm raids weekly to remain relevant to the game, you can do it whenever you feel like it, raids don’t have a part in elitist gearing up and thank anet for that. Cheers

I main warrior. Condi warrior to be exact. While I enjoy goofing around sometimes in unranked for the 10k aoe burn ticks that melt a new-to-the-game team down, I reroll to mesmer, revenant and dragonhunter(depends on what i feel like playing) in ranked PvP. Sorry to say it but warrior might be good at bursting people down, but PvP isn’t really about bursting people down. Any other class can fill my warrior’s role better(except thief which is trash as well) and also bring superior advantages to my team that I couldn’t. Warrior is iconic in pretty much any PvE content(dungeons, fractals, raids) mostly for banners and PS. How is your team going to benefit from your banners or PS if you go full signet yolo to burst people down? How is your team going to benefit from your burst when your sustain is so low, chances are you won’t even be able to land that burst – not mentioning you lose all your team support in order to get to that burst? And so, even IF you would be able to land that burst, even IF you would be able to buff your team with everything you got, it’s pointless. Every other class does it better.

With the raids being implemented, the casual community showed a lot of toxicity and inability to do easy tasks.

Toxicity goes both ways, there are those raiders that think they are better simply because they are doing raids. Many complain raids it’s not because the lack of willingness to learn or challenge themselves, it’s the time commitment. Just because some are having the raid bosses on farming status, it doesnt mean that applies to all. Even if someone’s guild have it on farm, why would they let some new guy join a raid group farming bosses, when the new guy wasnt there in the beginning? There are so many factors why casuals are complaining, calling them all as “inability to do easy tasks” is pure stupidity.

What many factors? I’ve read every single one of the raid complaint threads, I know all of them. The only valid complaint regarding commitment time was “i can’t sit around for 45 minutes waiting for my group to assemble while i got 1 hour of play time/ day”. Which after all, isn’t at all valid, because a guild with fixed raid times takes 5 minutes to gather everyone. “But dude I’m not in a guild” No one gives a kitten, it’s called Guild Wars, it doesn’t make your point valid. Your reply is pure stupidity

Uhm, let me stop you there. The full set of legendary armour was said to cost the same as a legendary weapon.

The story does pick up from where Mordremoth dies, but touching the little pieces of paper to learn everything isn’t necessarily worthwhile when you could just read it online as the story progresses.

And ya, I’ve seen some really weird things in map chat, sometimes it’s best to leave it off for the day.

Yea well all I know about the armor set is from speculations, so I wouldn’t be surprised if my numbers were totally off. But the idea is the same. If some one in 2-3 years of game wasn’t capable of farming an ascended set, I really really really doubt they’ll be able to farm for a legendary one

I second 52 Volcanic farm. I farmed up about 20 Shards in a couple days and not a single person I ran with got less than 3 Shards per hour. Some people like to farm 60 Jade Maw thinking there’s more veterans to kill thus have a higher drop rate which isn’t the case.

I third? this. 3 hours and around 10 mins spent in the volcanic(52) fractal gave me 6 shards. Was at around 282% MF. Another mate with 488% got around 12 in half that time

Raids are in no way necessary to be done. They don’t progress your story, don’t unlock some special privileged area, nothing at all. Oh, you want legendary armor? Let’s see:
>you complain that you’re not a “no lifer” and can’t get 500-1000 gold for an ascended set(which isn’t at all necessary since the wing already got cleared in full exotics – but for the sake of this argument, let ascended be necessary)
>so naturally, no 1000g for ascended, no raids, no access to legendary armor – “exclusivity”
>that legendary armor set has been speculated to cost somewhere 2-3 thousand gold A PIECE

This is the “casual” logic. I’ve seen this argument so many times in LA map chat it made me consider hiding the chat forever.

Except that Revenant has permanent +33% swiftness, and with the might stacking and other facets it will kill any mob in 2 auto attacks. Revenant is by far the easiest class to complete world with. I play both classes, the only regret I have for maining warrior over rev is that the warrior is so freakin slow. Warrior is the 2nd slowest after guard. It is the only one that gains move speed in relation with the weapons they wield.

necro/ranger/ele- permanent signets
daredevil- signet along permanent swiftness by spamming dodge
engi- mecha legs- permanent
guardian- 404
warrior- i gotta be in meele to have access to the 25% speed thing. I play a condi war, meaning my weapon is a longbow. It’s not hard to switch to sword/torch but what’s the point of having a legendary longbow when I’m always using meele weapons to get around. I wish they’d fix this

Every class has permanent swiftness with the right setup. Movement speed skills are what make warriors so much faster than revenants.

If you think warrior is slow, you A) haven’t fully read this thread and don’t understand this profession well.

I fully read this thread, but I wasn’t talking about a “right setup”. I’m talking about your natural class, using the stuff you use for combat, dungeons,fractals and gear like this. And in that case, my point is 100% valid
