Quick note. Map wise I actually really enjoy the map. Yeah, it needs some improvements, especially on the speed of quest cycling, and the oddity that is the save the baby event (I’m just defending a tree?)

I know I can not be the first person to say this, and I really don’t care how petty it sounds so no need to comment there, but Why is a story step locked behind something that goes away after 20 rl hours.
For someone who can only put so much time into the game because of life, I was really annoyed to find that I had to make the elixir again to move further. And it had been a couple of days since I played so I didn’t remember what the recipe for the Elixir was.

So, In my opinion a major change needs to happen. You either need to have the recipe obvious in game, or, If you need to finish the story, you need to have the quest marker redirect you back to the elixir quest. I shouldn’t have to look it up or ask and feel like an idiot to just be told. “just do what you did again”…

tldr If you’re going to block the Story behind something you have to recharge daily, make it obvious how to re-obtain it.

The wings are a PvP reward, if you don’t like playing PvP, then the reward is not for you. It’s set up so that when you see someone with the wings, there is a prestige behind them and you know that they deserved the item. If they made the wings easily available, then that just lowers that prestige and they aren’t as cool anymore. NEWS FLASH: Just because you play the game, doesn’t mean you are going to be handed rewards, there are enough of those already. Let these wings be something special, and admire them on someone else, or practice, find a team you work with and get them yourself.

So, we all know very well that because of the fact that we killed Zhaitan, that there is more magic for the other dragons, most importantly Mordremoth, making them more powerful. Does this mean that as we kill each dragon the next ones will be more and more powerful. Leading us to a point when all known dragons are gone, and the mysterious Sea Dragon rises uncontested to really screw things for Tyria. And on that note, what are we going to do once all the Dragons are gone? Will we be able to tap into this larger availability of magic? Thoughts?

Guardian, Ranger, or Engineer?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: RealBGB.9132

RealBGB.9132

Ranger does not necessarily have to be ranged DPS. I like to run longbow with axe/torch, or longbow and greatsword. I usually try to open from range, but then swap weapons and go to town in melee; it’s quite effective, and the lack of heavy armor isn’t really a problem.

Ranger in GW2 is a ‘pet class’, not a ‘ranged class’.

^ He obviously knows more about Ranger then I do lol (again I mostly play Guard)
I guess it all really depends what you want to do in the game. I do know some circles don’t like rangers or engis in dungeons, but you can easily find groups who don’t care. Really the final decision is up to you. If you want to see the full potential of a class, take it into PvP. The heart of the mist area has several npcs you can knock around and you have full access to lvl 80 stats skills and traits, even at lvl 1.

In the span of these 3 years since release they haven’t done anything of substance for long term appeal and veterans.
The game will die out soon enough, just wait for it. No successful MMO pulls these practices and lasts. It’s as simple as that.
Maybe once they see how bad it’s doing, they’ll wise up. That’s all we can hope for.

If they don’t start getting their priorities straight, I see this game becoming not much more then a wasteland very soon (at least between LS)

RealBGB.9132

Let me start by saying, I really have enjoyed this game. I have made several good friends who I talk to outside of GW2 and have made some great memories both with said friends and solo.

With that being said…..

I beg an answer from ANET for the question, What do you have against keeping any long term appeal? With all of the recent changes that “improve” the QOL for new players and leave Veteran players (this goes for anyone with an 80 really) fumbling around trying to adapt to these changes (and many don’t seem to be adapting very well)

Heck, even with the Halloween update, and this “QOL” change to the Gem conversion it’s obvious you guys need to re-prioritize. I mean with the gem store, yes I understand simplifying the conversions for quick buys, but there is no reason to take out the manual input. I know several people have used this after buying gems to get them those handful more to get that one extra item. Now, if the Item is 800 and I have 600 I have to buy 400 and have and extra 200 I didn’t want, and will LOSE gold on if I convert it back. What did this fix? And the Halloween event? As a rehash you could of at LEAST put in the stuff from the 2012 Halloween as well. “But the NEW players wont remember the old events so this will be new.” Yes but What about your devoted player base who DO remember.

I know I have gotten long winded, but I honestly am starting to believe long term appeal is out the window, and ANET ( or more specifically NCSoft) only cares about pulling int the $50 from new players, and the most profit from the gem store. Really makes me wonder why I play these days…..

Guardian Vs. Ranger...What to main?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: RealBGB.9132

RealBGB.9132

Ranger is fun and all, but if the idea of playing an archer ever came to your mind, please take guardian.

??? WUT?

Since there’s no bows in the guardian weaponry, there’s hope he will play melee, and that’d be better than another bearbow ranger.

Umm I’m pretty sure this is exactly NOT what the OP was looking for. Your opinion is shallow and just trollish, so if that was your goal, then GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!

But if is what you really think, then go back to your 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 LIFE and let the adults talk.

But like most have said, you can use both in any circumstance, but its recommended if you want to do solo open world, Ranger. PVE group content, Guardian. and for sPvP and WvW, you can play either and do well since both have rolls there.

One that would be cool (But not near as simple to create) would be a labyrinth race.

You would have a goal in the middle with two or more mirrored paths (depending on the amount of teams) where you have to fight waves and/or do puzzles to open gates with the first team to get all 5 to the middle wins.

Though I doubt either your or my idea would ever be implemented, but we can dream right?

Yeah there is, they are not needed. I do not think that mounts should be added unless it is only for cosmetic purposes. With how many WP there is in a map, mounts would be kitten pointless. And could you imagine trying to get a mount through certain area’s of the map? 119% - But what does this do?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RealBGB.9132

RealBGB.9132

The reason why you have the 119% is because of an error in the calculation system. Your gear is obviously boosting your crit chance, so say if base you have 79% crit chance, and your gear adds 40%, The game will still calculate out to 119% even though 100% is the max. But the system just cant make that 19% disappear or automatically put it somewhere else so it just shows that you have 19 over 100 even though that 100 is the greatest possibility.

If you want to start running dungeons before you find “the right guild”, you also can create your own LFG and state in there first time run or something. Speed runners should avoid it, and you’ll get either other people to learn with you (pug run) or people that are experienced, but not critical. I’m one of the higher ranking people in my guild, and still need help with some of the Rush’s

I’ve only had one successful attempt of Teq, even though I’ve run it several times (I’m starting to guess bad luck since I get in with TTS runs)

I love playing PvP, but never take a match seriously (Same with WvW)

I prefer pug runs on most dungeons, Makes it more interesting

As a Norn, I frequently use The bear transformation elite even though I know how bad it is.

And finally, I really dont care what you think. I just play to have fun, and failure is an accepted option.

-Old Event Items, See what you can get from the Zepherites before they leave.
-Piles of Bloodstone/Empyreal Fragments. Personally I hold on to these for when I do decide to use them.
-Agony Infusions, Ehh…. depends on what you do throughout the game, but if you dont do a lot of fractals, I would dump em. (Unless you want to hold out to see if agony is used in new map)
-Dwarven Keys, If it is a heart event Item you can either find what event they go to or just trash em.

What these guys are talking about is having that ability before you log in to the server so that you are never shown “online”. As it is now, when you do it the way you stated, you are auto online until you change to offline/invisible. It doesnt stay on when you log back off.

What would you put in place. The issue with the penilty being greater is the fact that GW2 is more for new/casual mmo players. Yeah the penalty for death later in game is low, but to newer player’s it works because you don’t have as much money, and a silver to revive may seem like a lot. But what do you suggest? Questions after returning to GW2

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: RealBGB.9132

RealBGB.9132

I’ll answer questions as best as I can…

1) I personally dont know much on those Specific classes, but I do know that there was a Nerf to Berserker build and Celestial. Mesmers and Necros are a PAIN to fight against in pvp imo. And in WvW as a mesmer you will keep very busy.

2) For the look? you only need one of each armor/weapon now. But trait wise I would recomend still going for ascended armor and putting whatever skin you want (oh and PvP armor and PvE/WvW armor and builds are all the same now. I would recommend Dungeons for gold as there has been a bit of a nerf on Champ loot. Also I personally suck at playing the TP.

3) Unless you are planning on taking WvW very seriously, server doesnt matter. The game went to a megaserver system so in PvE and sPvP all servers are one. And if you are looking for an Active friendly Guild, Whisper me in game. (I’m Usually on Jyenor Bearmane) but my account name is RealBGB.9132 (as said on the side lol)

What is the Future of WvW??

in WvW

Posted by: RealBGB.9132

RealBGB.9132

With the full implementation of Mega-servers now it makes me wonder what WvW is going to end up like. We had a server system with a specific game play mechanic that pitted Servers against each other, but now “servers” are gone except for in WvW….

This makes me think that a huge change in WvW is coming in the future. (This point forward is all predictions)

Now ArenaNet has already stated that they will be making guilds cross server (Im not sure if this is already true.) Now with that fact in mind; What if with the next “Feature Pack” update, we get Guild halls and alliances? I believe this could be very plausible of happening in the near future. and with this change comes a bigger change. WvW… will be gone, and in its place will be AvA or GvG (whichever way they decide to put it.) So instead of BGvTCvJQ it would be Alliance A v. Alliance B v. Alliance C.

I honestly see that if this is where they are planning on going, then the Megaservers make a whole lot more sense (IMO). It would even allow for a couple of things most ppl are asking for. A.) An ability to make a “server” alliance for the loyalists. B.) A “home instance” for thus said alliance. C.) Also the chance to do matchups of hyper hardcore WvW’ers and matchups for smaller, more casual Alliances.

What do you guys think of this Idea. And yes, I know the loophole of the people who don’t run with a Guild…. But maybe you guys have an Idea for this too.

Why is zerging so encouraged in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RealBGB.9132

I get where you are going with this. But I think they should let zergs happen and take the current reward system, but raise the requirements for Gold and Silver. Pretty much it should be being there at the end will give you Bronze, About half you get Silver, and if you were there from the beginning to about 3/4 left you get Gold.
I dont see an issue with the world boss system or zerging (Im pretty sure that was Anet’s intentions) but to spread the reward system better would make it seem more beneficial to get there sooner. Of course there would be complaints on the other end as you say of not being able to get there soon enough which I agree.

Soooo…. There really is no way to make a MMO of anykind that truly pleases all. And no matter what you do, that will always be a fact.
