!!!!
Here, this is a piece of art I made for you to express how awesome you are!
!!!!
Thank you! That is the best art Krait has ever seen, and it fills Krait with “feelings!” Krait could not ask for better.
Krait would like to thank everyone who is so friendly. Keep asking questions or suggesting things for Krait to do, and Krait is happy to keep answering or doing them!
Oh! Many questions today!
Dear Krait
Y U NO WINGS!?
Like Guild Wars Wunners?
Old land-dwelling Krytan krait were not the same as modern Krait from the Unending Ocean. They would occasionally turn up at krait family gatherings, eat all the food, spill drinks on photo albums, and then leave before group photo time. Krait do not like to talk about Krytan krait.
Why does the Krait glow yellow?
Krait is yellow because Krait was given a great honor in service of the Prophets! Krait has always wanted to work with other races, so Krait was one of the first to volunteer to work with the sylvari in Kessex Hills. The ceremony was…unpleasant…But very great! Krait learned to speak Krytan from sylvari after that.
dear krait we love you ! gime a kiss :*
What is a “kiss?”
To gain full standing in their eyes, you need only win a race with a centaur.
…Can it be a swimming race? Or a climbing race?
At base level, I think you’ve actually pretty much hit the nail on the head there: It evokes a feeling.
There are other, more technical definitions, but at heart, the purpose of art is to provoke an emotional response.
Krait has been looking at many arts in Divinity’s Reach. Please, what emotion is this art meant to evoke?
Catch: 2h weapons cost more than 1h weapons. While a pair of 1h weapons costing more than a 2h weapon isn’t entirely ideal, if you could wield a 1h weapon and get a full skill set with it, that’s the cheapest equipment option by quite a lot.
It’s not a make-or-break catch, but it’s something to think about.
I have mixed feelings about new zones. While, obviously, I enjoy new content, there’s also the problem of spreading the player population around too much, or in creating new zones that only drive the abandonment of old zones. It’s not a very attractive use of resources to develop new permanent zones frequently if they’re going to empty each other.
As with most things, it’s a balancing act, but it’s something to keep in mind when you wonder why new content isn’t always permanent, and why old content sometimes gets cycled out.
Teehee! Most of the zones in the game are always desolate anyway so adding more won’t really matter. I think the reason for holding back more zones because they don’t want to divide the player base further is a really poor argument since they don’t even give players a reason to go to many of the zones after leveling anyway.
…Which would perfectly explain temporary zones (Tower of Nightmares, Crown Pavilion, etc.) and events like the clockwork invasions or toxic offshoots?
I’m not sure I understand the argument “It’s bad already, so it won’t really matter if we make it worse.” They seem to be trying to get the most player participation that they can out of areas by setting new events in existing ones, or making areas that are temporary, so they don’t distract from each other or end up empty. (Mad King’s Labyrinth being an example of an attempt that failed, Super Adventure Box being an attempt that’s working.)
KRAIT HAS RETURNED TO ASK:
What is “art”?
What does it do?

I’m really to dump to find the preview
Where?? ._.’’
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/december-10-2013/
You can always find patch previews when they go up (officially, anyway,) by clicking “Releases” along the top of the of the GW2 site, or, if it’s not appearing, by clicking “Game→Releases” from the dropdown.
Merry Wintersday! \o/
They gave us a roadmap for the rest of 2013, which included the start of introducing new skills. Well, we got healing skills. Twice.
I just dont understand their decision making. I think we wanted utility and game changing skills..something to spice it up. A heal won’t do the trick. I know the rest of the skills are coming, but we have been waiting…for-ev-ver for these, and we get healing skill x 2
Gotta wait longer now.
Considering how much people complain already about class balance, I think it’s all right that they’re taking their time with new skills. Hopefully, they’re taking time to do it right, as they work on balancing the skills we already have. Heal skills are relatively low-hanging fruit, so I’m not surprised we’re getting more of them. (Although I’m very glad they’re class-specific this time, instead of more universal skills.)
I don’t see any reason to take away rewards to keep map-completers from earning them a second time; they’re just not THAT good, compared to the time investment required to earn them. I mean, I guess you could complete the map, reset, and then run over it again almost exclusively to grab the ~200 skill challenges again…But don’t most people at that point already have more skill points than they know what to do with? I mean, I’ve got a ton of skill points on my main, a bunch more on finished alts, and 30-some Scrolls of Knowledge for more alts.
Basically, resetting map completion isn’t a very good farm, which takes out a lot of potential for abuse. Worrying about accidental resets is solved as simply as a dialogue box saying “ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS? YOU CAN’T UNDO IT” in red text, and if your account is compromised, you’re in as much danger of having your character deleted as having your map reset.
I understand that our playstyles differ, but why not put that time and energy into an alt and get to know them more, too ?.
I think you’ve answered your own question: Our playstyles differ from the OP’s, which is exactly why (s)he wants to be able to stick with one character instead of alts.
I’m more concerned about getting downed myself while trying to res people around the Fire Elemental than I am about not getting credit. As long as ressing people isn’t the -only- thing you’re doing, it shouldn’t be a problem.
(If that’s -all- you’re doing, chances are good that you’re not contributing a ton. If there are -that- many players dying, to keep you occupied instead of spot revival, it’s probably a better use of time for them to respawn. You’re fighting against the river if you’re trying to res a bunch of dead people.)
There are plenty of reasons why we, as individuals, might not want to do it, but is there any compelling reason to not let those who want it do it?
(Besides developer time. This is the kind of quality of life change that has a small audience and small downside, so I’d say its biggest obstacle is whether anyone could be spared to implement it instead of working on something else.)
I don’t mind that we’re getting new healing skills first. I want more weapon skill-sets (Staff Ranger, Shield Elementalist, whatever,) eventually, but given the amount of balance changes going into the Dec. 10th patch, I’m surprised they’re putting in new skills at all.
Better to rock the boat a bit at a time than to risk tipping it over. I expect we’ll get more weapon skills and/or utilities eventually.
I was initially skeptical, but I can’t think of any real reasons why this would be problematic. Just limit resets to characters with 100% map completion and I don’t think there’s any very good way to abuse this. (Limited so players can’t complete a map, reset, do it again, reset, etc.)
Generally, the reward for completing maps isn’t that outstanding for a level 80; most of the maps will give you lower-level gear and transmutations stones. For the time investment, you’d be much better off farming dungeons, world bosses, champs, or pretty much anything else people do for money, so doing it a second time would really only be worthwhile if you wanted to earn more Gifts of Exploration on the character that’s actually going to use the legendary weapons made with them.
I’d never map-complete a character twice, because I like alts a lot, but I don’t see any harm in implementing a reset, if it doesn’t take too much development time.
After Halloween, “an exact copy pasta” sounds A-okay to me. I skipped most of last Wintersday anyway, so I’m looking forward to seeing what I missed.
Plus, lots of rebalancing in this patch, plus new healing skills, plus ascended armor crafting. It sounds like a pretty decent patch, altogether.
Buttercup is asking: “If magic find is made to affect chests, won’t that mean we’ll have to eat boosters/banners/food before opening chests for our best chances? Isn’t that a bad thing?”
At least, that’s how I read it. Probably because I feel the same way about it. ;p
I’d rather MF stick with doing what it’s doing, without getting involved with chests.
I haven’t played the Sylvari story since Beta, and now I’m tremendously sad that Plant Tequatl isn’t a world boss. That’s a cool-looking model!
I’m not sure I understand. You’re suggesting that if you cast multiple summoning spells in a row, they skip the cast time and all appear when the first one finishes?
Sorry if that’s not what you meant, but that’s the impression I got.
Well, order armor is irrelevant. It’s trans mutable. My human priory warrior has vigil leggings, and it looks good!
I almost added a P.S. in anticipation of someone pointing that out, hah. Personally, I think Order armor should be restricted to characters who have actually joined that order, for flavor reasons; if I’m in the navy, I’m not going to go about wearing an air force uniform. There are exceptions, and there are lots of unusual cases that can be imagined, but I think the restrictions are, generally, good for the flavor of the game.
Given the hoops you had to jump through it (Vigil character joins order, buys armor, transmutes onto white armor, Priory character transmutes onto armor,) I’m going to reason that it’s more of an oversight or loophole than how order armor is intended to work. Cultural armor, by contrast, only has models for the intended race, so it requires a more robust system to keep it off of other characters.

That’s a surprisingly well-thought-out plan, Turak. It adjusts the rate of AP grind for those in the lead, making optimal play easier on them, without any of the gap-widening effect I described over in this post.
It’s not a solution that’s going to please everyone (“If I’m over the cap and want to grind 20 dailies to overtake the 10-daily bum in front of me, WHY SHOULDN’T I BE ABLE TO?”) but it’s a pretty darn good one.
Hellmasker – A hard cap would solve the problem, although I think it would probably make some people unhappy, as they would no longer have a reason to do dailies once they hit the cap. As it happens, I just noticed this thread on the suggestions board which describes a flexible cap that, honestly, sounds like a very good answer to the problem.
Pandeh – For that to work, the achievement would have to be rewarded at the daily reset, which is somewhat confusing. (Imagine logging in and immediately getting an achievement and daily chest for something you did yesterday. It’s…strange, a little confusing.) I think they’d have to introduce more “do NOT do this” achievements to make the confusion worthwhile, and I’m a little iffy about the playstyle that encourages. It’s a novel idea, but it has some unintuitive aspects to it.
I think a cap sounds ideal in theory…although it would be better if it had been implemented from the start. Now, the problem I see is the way it widens the gap between those in the lead and those in the middle, in a system that, because of all the temporary points, already heavily favors those in the lead.
Potential Daily AP is, what, 16 right now? (12 PvE/WvW + 4PvP.) Since the update is adding 4 new ones for PvP, it’ll be going up 25%, to 20AP/day.
If it’s capped at 8 or 10 per day, as some have suggested in this thread, that’ll slow down the rate of achievement gain substantially, to 62.5% (for 10) or even 50% of the current rate. That might sound like a welcome relief to entrenched AP hunters, but it worsens the situation for hopefuls who can only advance on the leaderboard by doing all their dailies while a current leader takes a break, or misses a few, or whatever.
If I missed a week of achievement hunting at the current rate, that puts me 112 AP behind. If it’s capped at 8AP and then one of my competitors misses a week, they’re only down 56AP, meaning that I have to wait for them to skip two full weeks to catch up on the one I missed before the cap. There’s no good way to make the cap retroactive, and I’m sure the outrage would be huge if they tried to reset the AP leaderboards. (See: FotM level reset.)
It doesn’t matter to me, because I’m not personally interested in the daily AP grind, but I’m curious to hear what those who are have to say about the effects of a cap.
Anyway…they need to remove them all, or re-release ALL cultural armour in the gem store or wherever.
I would like to see cultural armor available to all races. I do not understand the point of it being race specific. Anyone care to explain the relevance of said limitation?
The same reason Order-based armor is restricted: Flavor differentiation. By giving each race specific sets of exclusive outfits, characters can express their unique cultural heritage. Similar to how we have race-specific skills, the cultural gear is another knob for making each race feel distinct from the others.
It’s a decision that requires a certain amount of balance, because it’s bad to lock off too many options from players (since that’s potentially wasted assets,) but also appealing to have some, since it can make the players who get them more invested in the look and the culture. If I’m wearing cultural armor, dungeon armor, Order armor, etc., I’m probably going to feel more of an affinity or association with that part of the world, even if I’m not a serious roleplayer.
Not everyone is going to be satisfied with that, of course; that’s what makes it a balancing act. But I’d say it’s a reason worth consideration.
It would be easier and more fair for people who cannot spend as much time as they’d like playing, but still want to achieve something.
Pretty sure we already have something for people who want to achieve something small every day.
While I think limiting the number of daily achievement points might have been a good thing when the system started, I don’t see a particularly appealing way to fix it now that people have hundreds of temporary achievement points. Keeping up on the AP leaderboard is impractically time-consuming, but that’s just in the nature of the beast. (Which is why I’ve never had an interest.)
My thought is: If you find the content less than to your liking, refrain from doing it. I have skipped some LS Metas because they weren’t my cup of tea (such as the current one). I don’t begrudge others who do like it. I am not sure having less things to do during a patch is the best plan, but that’s just me. =)
Exactly. I’ve done a lot of LS achievements, and enjoyed them, but there’s a fair few that I’ve just skipped because I wasn’t very interested. (Super Adventure Box and Fractured, for example.) If I skip them, I’m not, by my reckoning, severely penalized. (Since I’ve mostly missed out on knickknacks or AP.)
I’m sure they can get exhausting if you’re a completionist, but I’m not sure an MMO is the best genre to be a completionist in.
I think the HoM hits a good balance; it has rewards (titles and AP) for the highest-achieving legacy players, but also doesn’t waste a bunch of skins on rewards for that group, which is small and just getting smaller over time. (Since relatively few people are probably still earning them, while old-timers decline, either out of disinterest or change in life situations.)
I mean, if they added new rewards to fill out the list up to 50, that might make a few players (relatively speaking) happy, while causing everyone else to ask “…Why? Couldn’t those resources have been better used somewhere else?”
There are, of course, plenty of people who would get a lot of fun and use out of direct trade, and a few things that it does better than the Trading Post, but I’m still in favor of the TP, with no direct trade. I might not like paying taxes, but they serve a good function, and the gold sink function of the TP is a worthwhile cause in keeping the in-game economy working.
Also, the lack of trade spam compared to GW1 is glorious. This could be alleviated by having a /trade chat channel, but it’s still nice to have a system where there is almost no reason to shout your buy/sell offer to the whole of /map.
(So, really, I don’t mind it as long as there’s still the 15% fee, which keeps the gold sink running and doesn’t encourage people to spam chat for trade as a way around the fee.)
But consider the group of players with OCD who take the “everything or nothing” approach to a game. If achieving “everything” on that scale will start to destroy your out-of-game life, dont you think that besides a person in question having some issues (OCD is an issue), also the game tailored in such way is not “working as intended”?
I’m sympathetic to people who legitimately feel a strong compulsion towards being a completionist; I know not being able to act on a compulsion can be very distracting, stressful, and aggravating. However, I’m not sure how much “saving people from themselves” needs to be designed into the game.
An “everything or nothing” approach to the game just isn’t a reasonable ambition. It’s too big, and rewards players for too many different things, to go full blast on all sides all the time. That’s not strictly a bad thing, because I can play the way I want (say, never doing PvE or WvW, or never doing dungeons, or skipping the Living Story to raise alts, etc.) but if I want to do everything, that is going to end up including some things I don’t like (but that others do,) or, especially in the case of dailies, too much content to reasonably take in all at once.
For an alternative to the cigarette metaphor: Just because Netflix gives me a bajillion shows to watch doesn’t mean I need to actually watch all of them. Even if I scale it down to trying to watch everything I enjoy on TV, that’s still too much TV to be healthy. There’s simply too much game to reasonably do everything. I don’t think that’s the expectation, even if we do get rewarded for it.
If someone can’t enjoy the game because they can’t complete it all, the game isn’t working as intended, but it’s an unfortunate side effect of other parts of the game that are intended. There’s not a perfect answer on this one.

For anyone who is confused, this thread seems to be referring to changes being made to PVP achievements on Dec. 10th. See this article for more info:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/player-vs-player-rewards-roadmap/
I’m fairly astonished by people on the achievement leaderboards, because it doesn’t sound at all fun to me. I’d rather they give more options for completing the daily than worry about completionists having difficulty knocking off every single achievement, every single day.
(It’s not a perfect system, but, barring some major changes, it’s too preposterous to worry about.)
The toy golem has been returned! Thanks!
As a matter of fact, I am. I have no idea how the golem might have gotten wet, though. I’m usually so careful with these things.
So this means I could finally get PVE Rubrick gear?
This pleases me.
I was thinking the same thing. Fingers crossed!
…That is a good point. Hoelbrak still too cold.
Krait was pretty distraught over the first vacation suggestion, in Harathi Hinterlands. Sounds very terrible.
It’s also worth noting that Abaddon was a god who claimed dominion over the ocean, and the army with which he intended to invade Tyria from an extradimensional realm was one that could gain power from the souls of the dead, either consuming them or twisting their tormented souls into new soldiers. Because of this, some scholars have hypothesised a connection between Abaddon’s armies and the “Prophets” spoken of by your Oratuss. If this is true, then your Oratuss are likely to be disappointed – the time of their prophecy has come and gone, and the Prophets were defeated by the combined efforts of humans and the Forgotten (a serpentine race with similarities in appearance to your own, although we don’t know if there is any relationship between your race and theirs).
…Krait would appreciate it if you would leave speculation about krait Prophets out of it.
I dont know what kind of vacation you like, so here are a few suggestions:
[…]
All suggestions sounded terrifying and violent, so Krait went to the Divinity’s Reach aquarium instead!
Many people need MONEY back, many overwrote this skin to their T3 cultural, what should they feel now?
Have we gotten a definitive answer about whether or not people can get a refund of money, not just gems? Has anyone gone through support asking for a refund now, rather than waiting?
I’m asking in perfect seriousness, because I’ve yet to hear a solid answer either way, and it’s pretty important information in this situation.
There’s a full thread about money refund and the majority says that due to the complany’s policy they don’t have to refund money because you can no way prove that you bought gems for this very armor. You bought gems, they will refund you gems. Technically, it’s fair. In fact, unfair, taking into consideration the fact that the sikn was removed due to the complaint of some people, not ALL the community of ALL the players.
…So the answer is “No, we don’t have an official response on cash refunds?” Their written policy might not require it, but has anyone gone through the support system asking for a cash refund for this armor and been flatly refused?
(I don’t know whether they’d be willing to do that or not, but, again, it’s important information for this discussion.)

It’s also strange how all over the map the recipe requirements are for them. Depending on what you’re crafting, you need 1, 10, 30, or 250 of them. o__o
It’s a pity, because Immobolus is such an attractive scepter. Immobolus is probably the worst case, but I feel like this applies to a lot of Mystic Coin recipes; they seem to pick a lot of one moderately expensive ingredient, which ultimately makes crafting that item more trouble than it’s worth. Starting out, I thought Mystic Coins would come in handy later, but I’m sitting on several hundred of them with very little usefulness or value.
It’s a matter of preference, but I really like the 5-skills/weapon system. Between them and the 6-0 skills, I feel there’s a good balance. I’d enjoy seeing some more skills, of course, but I’d like to see them implemented as either more 6-0 options, or as new weapon-based-sets for classes. (Staff for Ranger, Shield for Elementalist, things like that.)

Wait, what?
Krait does not like how many humans are wanting to eat krait lately.
Soldier thinks Krait is very good at posing. Little bit curious how krait gets up the statues all the time though. Do you climb with 2 krait-clawed-hands? Is the tail part of it? Reveal your secret climbing method!
Krait are spectacular climbers. No tricks, just tails!
Does Krait know where soldier should go on vacation?
Krait would also like to go on a vacation! Krait Deeps are not great vacation spots.
Anyone else have a suggestion?
I have a renegade toy to report. I recently stopped by a…restaurant…in Divinity’s Reach for a drink with some…business…associates of mine, and this noisy little golem kept following me the whole time, beeping and booping and generally wanting to be loved. Lady Kasmeer wanted to take it home with her, but the blasted thing seems bent on following me.
I’m afraid that if I don’t get rid of the little barnacle soon, my crew are going to name it, and then I’ll be the bad guy for not liking the thing. Or, worse, the missus is going to get attached to it, and then I’ll have to put up with its incessant noise all day and all night.

[…] Therefore I believe that if we include the respiratory system from an amphibious creature such as a mermaid or a krait this might be the answer we are looking for.
I would therefore, politely request, that if anyone does happen to obtain said organs, they would consider donating them for the betterment of our necromantic understanding
Krait would politely request that Krait’s organs are put to rest, not made into new kind of underwater monster.

Krait has been spending the weekend with a nice human family. They insisted Krait EAT AND EAT AND EAT, which Krait feared was a sign that they were trying to fatten Krait up, so Krait quietly slithered out the back door between courses.
What can you tell us of krait history? Most of your kind are not very forthcoming.
Krait people used to live in the Unending Ocean, until driven out by undersea elder dragon. That was 50 years ago, so Krait has never seen the undersea dragon personally.
Krait hopeful that one day krait will be able to return to the Unending Ocean, where they will not have to fight with landwalkers.
Update:
I’ve just noticed that it’s for mastercraft or better, not just mastercraft. I was progressing the achievement by refining dragonite ore, for example.
Sooo, I’m very optimistic that we’ll see something related to ascended crafting this month.
Evidence? I doubt you can prove that.
Anecdotal. To be added to by people in this thread.
Unless people like yourself provide comments with no use.
This seems like an almost textbook example of when anecdotal evidence is, specifically, terrible and misleading. It’s useful for questions like “Can ______ drop from _?” or “Has anyone else ever had ______ happen to them?” but as a way of measuring the effect of Magic Find, anecdotes are a bad way to go.
The idea is that by encouraging people to craft masterwork gear, it’ll encourage people to start crafting if they haven’t, and eat up mid-level crafting supplies. It’s not obviously related to ascended crafting, but I can see a connection there.
I’m optimistic that we’ll see something on it this month. We’ll just have to wait and see!
I wouldn’t bother buying anything today. Black Lion Keys are a gamble and Mystic Forge Stones…really aren’t all that useful. Transmutation Crystals are the best things on sale today, but they’re only useful once you’re level 80, so I’m not sure I’d bother with them if you’re just starting out. You might have a use for them eventually, but…
I’d definitely wait and see else goes on sale. Character slots are good, (although you don’t have much need for them when you’re starting out, naturally,) and bank expansions might also be good if/when they go on sale. This is totally a matter of preference, but I enjoy some of the goofy town clothes items (Pirate costume, for example,) so that’s something I’ll, personally, be looking to go on sale.
I’d avoid consumables, like boosters. You just don’t need them.
Will the song explain love?
Krait would very much like (love?) to hear this song!
…I’m not sure I understand the phrasing of the question.
Did you buy the Flamekissed armor, and are now unhappy that it’s going to change because other people were unhappy about it?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Cultural-Human-T3-Not-Exclusive/page/11#post3275237
Hey, everyone. We’ve been reading all your feedback about the Flamekissed Armor Skin that was released into the Gem Store yesterday.
Although the Flamekissed Armor uses the same mesh as the Tier 3 Human Cultural Armor, it was not our intention to create an armor skin that so closely matched the existing Tier 3 Human Cultural armor set. The intention was to use the mesh as a basis for creating an armor set that stands apart and is distinct in appearance. However, after reading your feedback, we agree that the Flamekissed armor is not visually distinct enough from Human Cultural Tier 3 armor. We will do a few things to address this issue.
- We will temporarily remove Flamekissed Armor Skin from the Gem Store.
- Players who have purchased Flamekissed Armor Skin will keep the skin.
- We will make new art for the Flamekissed Armor Skin that achieves our goal of making a visually distinct and attractive armor set and does not closely resemble the Human Tier 3 Cultural armor.
- Once this new artwork is completed, we will then update the Flamekissed Armor Skin so that all existing sets that players have purchased get the new art. We will also offer the Flamekissed Armor Skin for sale again at that time.
- When we update the Flamekissed Armor Skins with the new artwork, any player that has already purchased the set and who does not like the new, updated look, can get a full refund by contacting Customer Support.
Note that there is no ETA on when this change will happen. We need to work with the Character Art Team to determine when we can have a new armor skin ready, and this could take some time.
Thank you everyone for providing your feedback. We appreciate that you took the time to let us know how you feel about the new armor set.
So, that’s that.
You would have to craft one for each hand, or two different legendaries for each hand, or have a legendary weapon in one hand and a regular weapon in the other.
So, yeah, it’s a ton of effort to make a set of 1h weapons instead of a 2h weapon. It’s the same trouble already with 1h v. 2h weapons, just magnified by the cost of legendary weapons.
Seems to have been a stealth update in yesterday’s patch, or, at least, I must have overlooked it in the patch notes if it’s in there.
Where?? ._.’’
Gotta wait longer now.
