still….the money is in farming mobs in areas that drop bags/gear that yield linen/ rugged leather, and selling the mats…..or mobs that drop t6 mats and selling those (orr/FGS).

After those dev posts I actually had high hopes, but the patch was pathetic. Those announced bugfixes are a joke, and – sorry if that sounds rude – Anet should be embarassed.
It’s been almost two years now, seriously. What saddens me most is seeing them bugfixing something like Power Block in just one day.
it really is enraging/sad. it proves they can fix skill/trait bugs quickly when they want to. they simply don’t want to 99.99% of the time.
the power block hotfix really does seem like an extreme dev to player trolling. i just can’t express how much i dislike the work the Balance and QA teams of this game do….

absolutely….and i don’t even mind underwater combat (its fun on some professions)………..but its just a really small part of the overall play experience to be a priority given the state of the game bug-wise.

So the mega server prevented my friend and I from getting credit on the Frozen maw mega event because all the nerd level 80’s killed everything so fast. It’s kinda not fair seeing how we need exp. and they just want their gold and loot. Cry if you want, but it’s removing my experience from the game.
i feel bad for low level players….it hard enough to tag enough mobs/do enough dmage to get champ drop/gold credit as a level 80 in thos megaserver blobs.

…and no one would ever e-mote, whisper, or otherwise grief you if you had your toggle set to “off.” Hmmm….sorry….been there…done that.
Never had that happen in any other game with duels and toggling, so I’m not sure why that would magically happen if it were a feature in GW2.
Yup….coming up on ten years in MMOs and have seen more than my share of chicken croaking, rude whispers, etc. I came to GW2 for a number of reasons…one of which was that Anet seems to have done a fairly decent job of removing motivations for griefing. Despite their efforts the forums here recount instances of individuals doing their dead level best to grief other players. While griefing in its various forms is not a constant problem, it doesn’t take too many adolescent, self-absorbed jerks to color the play experience.
agree…in a perfect world, the toggle would work and open world dueling would be a win-win for all. it doesn’t and it isn’t. there is always a way to harass/troll.
i have no idea how bad the trolling would or wouldn’t be in this game….i just know when dueling is relegated to specific areas, players are less likely to bug strangers, and more likely to stick to fighting their friends/guildies.

The purpose of the Megaserver was two fold.
1) Increase the number of players in normally empty zones.
2) Possibly reduce the server costs by making every zone instance as full as possible.Yes, certain farming strategies go right out the window. However I can announce “Giant’s up” and actually have players show up to fight it along side of me, so that’s a plus.
agree to a point…..its overall, a positive for me……since i’m a NA player on a EU server. i play after work and now can do most events (that are up) no problem.
but when i do play during peak times, its awful. 100+ players doing world events is the opposite of fun. i do miss the 3-man Maw, Wurm, or Fire Elemental groups.
Guilds being separated during missions is a really issue. the megaserver is not doing all it promised, with respect to putting you with the people you want to play with. that needs improved ASAP.

nope…..the megaserver has increased the amount of trolling/chat fights i’ve seen since start by tenfold.
worst time possible to introduce open world dueling (dueling in any map at any time).
they should add dueling to the arena in the charr city…or better yet, in every major city, with each ahving a unique arena…………..would kinda be like ancient rome, where every city has its champions……make it so you could wager on the fight.

loot bugs that hurt players are low-priority fixes……this will not get fixed…it will “be looked into” and forgotten. the QA team is small/farmed-out, and this last patch added a ton of massive bugs on top of all that existed before it.
they are buried in a mountain of bugs in all areas of the game….this will not get fixed.

they can’t fix the class. they can’t fix a bug without introducing a new one (or three)…..and they don’t have the QA manpower/skill/or schedule priority for it to go any other way than it has for the past 2 yrs.
best to move on (to another class or game) or work with what still hasn’t been bugged to uselessness.

there is NO excuse for you not fixing the bugs that are destroying entire weapon sets (focus is an abortion right now) in a timely fashion, when you can and do hotfix any bug that benefits a mesmer.
not saying all bugs should or can be fixable as quickly as the Power Block hotfix…..but waiting 6+ months is inexcusable, as it clearly demonstrates where the QA priority is and isn’kittens kittening insulting.

this game is grind heavy for non-“base” items….even with trains and speed runs.
the champ train “nerf” is not a problem, tho. the silver was already nerfed to barely above WP cost. your money comes from selling the mats. that hasn’t changed.

worse in that you have to spend the same to change looks under level 80 than you used to….but the convenience of only having to have a skin once makes up for it.
all other complaints are niche (mixing town clothes?…i know 2 people out of 100’s that even mentioned those…let alone used them.)

i love the weapon and not sure fixing it’s few flaws should be a priority for ANet……….would actually prefer they add some traits to improve it instead.
but with that said, i agree that firewall as anything outside of a long fire field is lackluster. it’s damage capability needs improved if its to have some area-denial element to it.
i like your change to freezing gust.
also, the cast time on swirling winds annoys me….would prefer it be insta-cast, but that’s a nit-pick. other wise, it’s a great skill.
and earth attunement for me is flawless….both skills are fantastic and lower the cd for either should only occur through the introduction of a focus-enhancing trait.

I suppose if all the bosses rotated fast enough that they were all up within 3-4 hours, overlapping events might be attended by people who already fought one of the bosses in that time slot that day.
this….they absolutely will be.
having multiple bosses up at the same time is the only way people will have a chance to do every/most of the world boss events in a reasonable time-frame (4 hours).

Low tier World Events:
Begins at :15 and :45 of every hour starting at reset (5pm server time)
ALL five zones trigger concurrently Wurm@Falias, Svanir@Vendrake, Elemental@Muridian, Behemoth@Godslost, whatever the 1-15 meta event for charr is in plains of ashford.Standard tier World Events:
Begins at :00 and every 45 minutes afterwards, again starting at reset with a cyclical pattern of 4 events per time frame with the following order:
Golem Mk2, Taidha Covington, Modniir Ulgoth, Megadestroyer, Shatterer, Claw of JormagRaid tier World Events:
Tequatl, Three headed Wurm: Begins at :00 Server time and every 4 hours afterwards concurrently. (2pm, 6pm, 10pm, etc)
Karka Queen: Begins at :00 Server Time +2, and every 4 hours afterwards (4pm, 8pm, etc)
Restrictions for “private” spawns: consumable can not be triggered within 60-90 minutes of the start time of the public event.And this is just something that took a couple minutes of looking at the “schedule” anet wants to use to put together.

If they want to curb the ability to earn loot, it’s as simple as reducing the loot you already get. Teq drops 5 chests the first time you beat him a day. For every other character you beat him with, he drops 4. Honestly I still see this change as a big kitten you to big guilds more than anything else.
but this way, they don’t technically reduce the rewards, just eliminate the “behavior” of getting the rewards rapidly by making world boss trains inefficient/ difficult. This is in line with their rationale for every loot reduction/removal that happened since launch…..discourage the behavior of “farming”. The casual/ non-farmer gets basically the same rewards regardless…..but the farmer suffers.
if the “shineys” the game offers weren’t so grindy, i wouldn’t mind their approach, but since it is……the tactic just seems like a ploy to increase converting gems to gold (something most of us with a semi-limited play-schedule already have to do from time to time to make big in-game purchases).

I wasn’t sure either. 3 possibilities:
1) The stacks vanish+reset the moment you unequip or weapon swap the weapon.
2) The stacks vanish but do not reset when you weapon swap. So when you swap back gain to the sigil weapon, the stacks reappear. This one is probably the most consistent with how all the other sigils work (only effective when the weapon is active).
3) The stacks don’t vanish until you unequip the weapon altogether (or die).
3 is best case scenario.

I think a lot of people in this thread are probably lacking perspective on the what and why of this change. This is most assuredly ANet devs making the best on what is probably a cost cutting measure to try and save money on servers that are up for empty maps.
Bsed on the way this is affecting waypoints/dungeons/temples I would assume that this is a change that is happening more quickly than the devs were prepared for.
absolutely….and its better than just merging low pop servers…….but the reason its being done doesn’t change the (seemingly negative) effects on the players.

As a Gunnar’s Holder-ite and one of the leaders of the server’s World Tour and Tequatl events…Anet, I am deeply disappointed in this change.
1. It takes a lot more work and some quick thinking to chain the bosses back to back to back. For example: Fire Elemental bugs frequently on GH, ask someone to please unbug it for us while we do Mega Destroyer, but oh no Behe, Taidha and Maw just popped up in the middle of the Mega D pres. Not a problem! Kill Mega D first, then go to Behe first, let Maw sit on the Brogun event, kill Taidha, work your way to Maw, then go do Fire Ele and then from there work your way to Eye or Dwayna or whoever else happens to be up. On a good night we hit 25-30 bosses and 5 or so “bonus champs” in about 6 hours. That’s not only a load of karma and loot for you, but a load of karma and loot for the others following you as well.
2. People are free to drop in and out of World Tour as they please. Naturally the zerg is large at the beginning but as people go to bed, it gets smaller and smaller. With the new Megaserver, that will not happen.
3. The Tour as it is has a fresh, constantly rotating schedule of bosses that changes day to day. Some days we start with Behe, others with Golem, others with Maw. It all depends who is up at the same time and makes the Tour always fun. With the new schedule, we get to see the same few bosses all the time which becomes stale and boring.
4. The twice weekly GH Tequatl kills and the once weekly Wurm attempts are in the garbage now. We’ve only just started gathering the server and being successful every Monday at Teq. People know what to do, how to do it, when to do it and gathering at a time convenient to everyone. Now? We’re going to be getting hundreds of people in the map, who may grief it, who may be rude jerks or just be having a bad day and spread their misery over everyone. In addition, the new times are not convenient to everyone.
5. I like commanding in PvE. I find it fun. I love interacting with the people on TS and in map chat and squad chat. I love the work of figuring out which boss to go to. I love being able to chain bosses boom-boom-boom-boom-boom. I love training new commanders on how to activate events, offering advice, helping them with questions. Buh-bye that for me now…
6. I’m also one of those who enjoys her peace and quiet because I’m “on stage” once or twice a week or helping the other commanders whose turn it is during their night or heck filling in for people who can’t do it because of computer problems or being sick. I enjoy wandering Ashford or Timberline or Snowden or Lornar’s by myself, all peaceful. That’s being taken away from me now as someone upthread said. Our experience of a secluded walk in the woods will be destroyed because someone will be busy flamethrowering the bunnies and deer or being a jerk in map chat.
7. My guild is TINY. If I want to experience Karka Queen I’ll have to join up with a larger guild. I don’t want to join a larger guild. So what do I do? Leech?
8. Gunnar’s Hold has a very large PvE base now because of the Tour, the nightly Temple Runs, Tuomir’s Hide and Seek event, Duke Witherheart’s Rampages and the Tequatl events. Gunnar’s Hold has been my home for about 400 days and over 4k hours of gameplay. With the Megaserver I can’t say “I’m proud to be from Gunnar’s.” I can say “I am now one of the faceless, nameless minions in this big blob of people.” Arenanet. I am not a statistic. I am a person. I am not a metric. I am an individual. I am not a nameless, faceless, walking wallet. I am myself. And I like my home. I like the people I play with every day, I like the people on my server. You’re going to destroy a lot of what makes a server community a server community in the name of…what? Metrics? Numbers? Because we are nameless faceless wallets?

from optimism to disappointment.
this megaserver only seems to benefit new players leveling up. no benefits for established 80’s.
the schedule for world events kills our servers world boss tour (get almost all in +a few temples in about 3/4 hours)………..and event every 15-20 minutes now becomes every 30 minutes with a chance to end up with duplicates. half the events won’t even be running during my playing time.
guild instance is nice……until you reveal its a unlock……..which means the server/boss killer guilds can’t actually use them (since people don’t rep them outside of said boss events).
then add the decreased map functionality + 2x waypoint cost due to it……..
awful way to end your the feature patch info train.
can see a lot of people quitting once the schedule hits (they will not wait for Anet’s glacial “tweaking” pace).
very sad. i like the game and would like to see it retain its population.

not a big conjures fan, but see that most have some value in certain builds……that said, I would certainly welcome the addition of wards.
would require a bunch of new traits, so wouldn’t expect any sort of additional skill type….ever (though we can dream).

Why does the 25 cap even exist in PvE? Removing it would be just as good(?) a solution as nerfing crit damage.

We’ve already seen that they can wire specific condition removal into the weapon skills. There was an accidentally leaked tool tip for the ranger sword auto-attack that it would remove one stack of bleed on the second attack.
Imagine that tech being applied with real flavor: imagine one of the elementalist’s fire skills removing poison from themselves (purging with flame!) and one of their water weapon skills removing poison. It gives you a reason to use those attacks creatively or to hold them for the combined benefit of its main function and the specific cleanse. Add a warrior attack that lets you “man up” and remove weakness. A Thief attack that doesn’t natively poison, but will transfer a poison from them to the target all “Hey, you dropped something…” style.
These sorts of changes could make both condition dealers and their presumed victims play smarter instead of just nerfing some numbers.
promote active play/counterplay, by tying weaker condition removal to skills that serve other purposes (weapon skills) to go along with more powerful utility skill condi removers. just have to be careful not to have too many “remove 3 condition” skills.
i like it.
then remove conditions from auto attacks, but compensate by slightly increasing stack and/or duration on 2-5 skills and utilities.

some people don’t like being bothered by strangers who want to duel…..who then harass you if you decide not to duel them. its a problem in all games that have open world dueling.
you know that most mmo’s have dueling system and all of them have the option to block duel requests, you can turn that option on and no one will bother you with duels = you are happy. Ppl that like dueling will have duel requests enable = every one is happy.
you conveniently quoted what suited your argument. as i said, the person can just whisper you to to turn off your “no dueling” setting. in a one-time scenario, its no problem to just block that person if they harrass you any further…..but then this happens multiple times a play session and it becomes obnoxious. that’s far less likely to happen when i’m roaming orr, if it means we both have to waypoint back to Black Citadel.
why can’t you duel in a dedicated arena in a major city….for free….in pve? put it in the arena in charr city, and people could fill the stands to watch if they want to. you can duel until your heart is content….and other people can watch/see you just like if you were in open world.
for you, it must have to be open world so that you can more easily harrass/bother other people. that’s the only advantage to open-world dueling.

Still wouldn’t stop harassment from griefers.
I really don’t want to have to “auto decline” AND “block” just so I can continue on the way I already am. Open world dueling really does seem to run contrary to the entire open world cooperation on top of that.
You know how you can choose to completely ignore player music instruments in the options menu? The same would probably be done there. You wouldn’t need to auto decline or block anything.
Plus it could always be done like fighting with costumes on. Players would have to toggle specific items to duel.
…and then they whisper you to turn your toggle off.
seriously….there is no need for open world duels…..unless you want to be an kitten and harrass people.
put dueling in a free arena in one (or all) of the major cities. problem solved. everyone wins.

recently started 2 new characters, and you get a few keys during personal story quests.
other than that, they are extremely rare drops/rewards…too rare for the usually junky loot you get (3 ticket scraps out of 10 keys used from the PS rewards…and a bunch of portable TP and merchants).
if they dropped at a higher rate in-game, or guaranteed at least something of value (gold-wise) i would like them. i realize anet needs to make money, but as it is, the loot isn’t enticing enough for me to buy keys w/ gems….nor is the drop rate in-game enough for me to actually “like” the key/chest rng thing.

you can count on one hand the number of racial skills (normal or elite) that are actually worth using in any build.
they really should just delete them (and improve/move the few decent ones into class utilities). after all, they “don’t want to make things complicated for new players” by allowing them to potentially waste their skill points on useless/terrible skills.

I play most the classes and find ele to be the least fun. DD ele could be fun if they weren’t so underpowered compared to my other classes. If i want to do dmg I am way better off playing my thief mesmer or warrior than dd ele. Staff ele is probably the most boring class/wep set in the entire game. The other ele weps are awful as well.
well….i think most of us call it fun due to the very active, versatile, and deliberate play-style (though, i tend to agree that staff is much less fun than the other sets). the fact that it takes more effort to do what other classes can much easier can be a turn off for sure (or a bonus if you dig challenges).
of course it’s all subjective.
