This is unfortunately a bug right now but what I can say is that we have a fix we will get in as soon as we are able. For the time being you will have to have everyone exit your server so it can reset if your server gets stuck. Try to avoid using /gameend but you can still use /setscore

below your name it says “PvP Quality Assurance Embed”

Now do air 5 phoenix ,air 2 the 2 arcanes ..Boom engis life in teldos build at 30% if most of them crit(they will crit).Then use air 4 to avoid his range damage while you kite him.Go into water to interrupt or slow him down or whatever..from there its easy peasy.
Now if you cant land a gale on an engi without stunbreaker i dont know what to say :P

You mean other than the strongest AoE blasts and AoE KD/Launch and AoE heals? The eles got nothing going for them?

Seriously what other class that you mentioned above can do that?

Guardian has a lot stronger heal and arguably same amount of AoE power. Nekros, Rangers, Warriors and Engineers have more AoE Power (and especially conditions). No idea what you mean with AoE KD. If you are talking about AoE CC, guardians are stronger, warriors are stronger, rangers don’t have hard ccs but a lot of soft ccs, nekro has fear and engineer has extremly strong cc.

Guardians and hammer warriors can’t dump 20k AoE damage from rotating through 34 skills in the space of 4 seconds (counting the attunement themselves and boon/damage they provide plus the elite conjure/whirlwind). Hello…

Not to mention guardians are slow turtles, while eles can travel half a map in seconds and come back for more mayhem.

But yes rangers are over the top, that doesn’t give excuse for Eles to top them up. I think everyone practically agrees the rangers need adjustments. No class, ele included should be balanced against that, or we’d be introducing endless power creep.

Greetings,

I was hoping to finish my guide before posting here, but this thread seems to have spiraled out of control today.

I will touch on a few things that have been incorrectly assumed.

1) This is a DPS build. 2k power, 22% crit with 25 crit damage, high fury uptime between arcana 5 and pack runes. Damage bonuses from earth VI, air VI and X.

2) Taking soldier amulet over valkyrie makes the loss of water heals largely unnoticeable to my own survivability. Obviously there is a small loss in party heals, but Rock Solid is on a completely different level power-wise. Note that you can still heal teammates with EA and dagger skills; the loss of water traits is less noticeable than you would think given how everyone thinks they are an absolute requirement to play ele (I also thought this for a long time).

3) The sustained damage that is done by Lightning Whip is absurd. I know the world has been caught up with scepter burst the last few months and has gotten used to terrible autoattacks, but if you move back to D/D perhaps it will brick back glorious memories. In addition to Lightning Whip, you have access to a reasonable burst combo between Burning Speed, Arcane Wave, Lightning Flash, and Firegrab.

4) Rock Solid is insane. Everyone sees the obvious synergy with Ether Renewal, but that is merely a bonus in this condi meta. If I have the opportunity to run signet heal in the future, there is no doubt in my mind that I will continue to run Rock Solid. This is an AOE 2.6s stability on a 10 second cooldown. A few of the many things opened up by this trait:

  • Stomp everything. Soldier amulet with protection makes this build hard to bring down while stomping. Even if you are under pressure, you can give a teammate stability while they get the stomp.
  • Rezzing in teamfights. When someone drops and 2-3 people go in for the rez, everyone has stability. No spectral wall/reaper’s mark/etc is going to stop this.
  • Waltzing through area denial and allowing teammates to do so as well.

I will expand a lot more in my guide which should be up in the next day or two, and probably put up a forum post for it. Certainly any questions/comments are welcome here in the meantime.

EDIT: In regards to viability. Myself, Edge, and two other guys played together yesterday and today picking up whoever was available for a 5th. Comp that we have been trying is ele ele ranger engi X. We have been very successful against mid-tier opponents, and have found some difficulty with higher level teams. There have been some blowouts, but we have also had some close games. At this point it’s hard to say if it is due to the comp or our inexperience playing with each other, probably a bit of both. That being said I believe that this build is quite good, but it may not have a place in the meta given the level that other professions are at right now.

I’ve made my own version and tbh the build works quite well.

If anet balances properly I could see this build working quite well

Let’s analyse the builds in order or power, which require nerfs because they aren’t fun.

1, Spirit ranger – the king of the meta is the spirit ranger. That is evident from solo q. It has evades, the ability to win ANY 1 on 1 easily, and possibly the best team fight utility with passive buffs and actives. There is NO counter play at all. If you kill the spirits they activate. Which sucks. Then they instantly summon them back because the cooldown starts when they are summoned. When back the spirits can be activated again and killed again to activate yet again. More than this, the spirits confuse any team fight. Finding targets is difficult. And no it isnt because of the effects. But even without this the spirit ranger is just broken. It is like the most op ele was but with signet of undeath x3 rolled into 1 build. It needs a massive nerf.

2, S/d Thief – again there is no counterplay. How do you kill something which is perma evading? It is close to impossible at times. The amount of evades has to come down because at the moment it is just a frustrating experience. You cant focus the stupid things and yet they are dishing out crazy dps. It really does suck. They should either get crazy dps or evasion. Not both coupled with boon hate. Way too much.

3, Terror necro – Getting chain feared again isnt fun. I am bored of necro vs necro. There is no skill. It is luck (who can rando dodge something) and just lame. YOu shouldnt be able to fear cc someone to death on any class. Remove the buff to doom within 600 range for a start and then reduce the number of bleeds on a few of the skills and add increased lf gain from some main hand weapon skills. Necro dps needs to come down.

4, Stun lock warrior – not brokenly OP but still it sucks. Again, like fear, nobody should die whilst constantly under the effects of cc in a 1 on 1. Reduce the duration of the mace stun.

5, Elixr r – nobody should be able to res themselves. Stupid concept. Not fun that this class gets an extra 10k health for free. You feel cheated killing them and then they get back up and kill you. Please fix this.

And please don’t wait for after this pax tournament to fix these issues. Why alienate the 4 million people you sold this game to in order to not change things for the 10 people in this tournament. In fact I beat most of the guys in the pax tournament want this stuff nerfed because it sucks.

The meta at the moment is skill-less, but worse – it is just not fun. Sorry to say.

they can add a <<live twitch>> link at the bottom of that window , that teleports u into each persona twitch channel :P

It would be a learning experience to have a list of who is currently in a SoloQ match, click on their name from the list, and instantly be spectating their match following them on camera.

This more than anything would help inexperienced people see how the conquest game is played.

Skyhammer is great, it has a whole new way of taking out the opposition – especially silly super tanky troll builds – with new tactics. Every profession can set up to use the map to their advantage, some people just don’t want to…I for one really like it and find it keeps things from getting stale. I also have more fun on that map than others usually – win or lose – due to those dangerous pitfalls.

Please don’t listening to the vocal whiners again A-net.

They need to bring back GW1’s usage of conditions.

Players must be smart on when they apply the, and when they remove them, not just spam away and run around while the conditions do their thing.

The current rate condition spam not only dumbs down the game, but also makes inviable direct damage builds compared to DPS condition spam ones.

The whole boon/condi system should be reworked. They are far too accessible.

Use simple chat codes:

c = close
m = mid
f = far

Two incoming on close = c2
Close is safe again = cs

Games like LoL use things like that too, so why not GW2? Its hard to see the pings on the minimap when your eyes are in the fight and on the animations of your opponent. Reading the chat is far more easier.

Revamp and Expand Combo Fields

The combo effects that you can create and finish as an individual are not the focus of this thread. Those ones you execute on your own anyway as part of your rotation if you think its worthwhile: Meaning the damage or utility you create as a result of the combo is superior to your next best option of not creating it by choosing a different rotational order of abilities. Therefore, they are more of an additional way to access that skill or effect as an individual.

The ones that are done through cross-profession combos are the biggest issue to me and the ones I want to focus on for this thread. This is because they don’t encourage any kind of team coordination and timing. Why don’t they encourage teamwork? To put it simply: It’s not worth it.

The majority of them are underwhelming in the effects they create. There are a few exceptions such as blast finishers on water fields for heals, stealth stacking duration for pvp, chaos armor, etc. The rest of the combos create effects that are already replicable with the majority of your own skills, and thus it is typically a waste of time to try and create with others instead of just spamming damage.

By players just spamming their own fields and finishers in an individual vacuum, they end up creating those combo fields anyway. So, their manifestation is many times unintended, and when created, no one cares.

The combos should be completely reworked to accomplish TWO goals:

1. Require classes to coordinate and time their abilities together to achieve them rather than creating the combos through their own damage rotation spamming. This would actually create actual and promote teamwork in the group format rather than 5 individuals who are just fighting side by side and happen to create marginal effects through spam.

2. Make the effects meaningful and strong, so that people will want to pursue them over just doing their own damage rotations!

How about all new special fields and effects if one players drops a dark field with a fire field to create a hellfire field? This Hellfire field should now offer an all new effect that is unavailable to the skills of any class on its own. Players could then use their finishers on that field to create new, powerful combos.

Or combine a water field and light field to create a Purity field to do something else that is strong and useful to the group? Or combine a dark field and chaos field to create something else?

There is so much room for depth and thoughtful play with this system and what has been implemented so far has barely scratched the surface.

Revamping this system could breathe all new life, challenge, and depth both into PVE and PVP mechanics.

The point is not just that the elementalist is weak in the current meta. He doesn’t have a role in any teamsetup, guardians are better bunkers, thieves and mesmers deliver better team utility and still have extremly high dmg. Additionally thieves are very hard to catch and mesmer have a high base hp pool with a lot of defensives through illusions, deception, stealth and conditions. ArenaNet pushes the elementalist towards a direction of having absolutly nothing.

Don’t forget the mobility nerf.

I can understand mesmers complaining to some degree with the current meta, but eles? Almost every single team that played in EU qualifiers had an ele and they did a great job. How can you even say they are unplayable or in worst spot ever? If that was the case nobody would have run one in their team don’t you think?

Pretty much every single class is forced to embrace a single spec / build as the meta changes if they want to play at highest level of competition, that goes for everything (look at thieves forced into S/D, ele in S/D, engineer P/S, necro conditions and so on and so forth).

Just complaining to complain without any solid proof that indeed your class is in a terrible spot (as you make it seem) doesn’t really do you any justice, just saying.

Ele is still being played because it was one of the most played classes in the game (due to it being op for too long). But it’s a fact that teams are dropping eles from their comp and a huge number of eles rerolled to other classes.

Also, you will have a solid proof the day 6th with the soloq leaderboards. You can come back to this thread then.
