Warriors should be redesigned IMO. Anet can buff their skills, but if the warrior doesn’t land a hit these buffs are useless.
They shouldn’t buff the class until people play it, because it will end up being op.

And that because obviously they consider PvE ans the most important part so PvP is unbalanced to preserve PvE balance…..Infact they keep buffing warrior that is UP in PvE thus resulting in being OP in PvP.

Anyway the point of the thread is: Compared to GW1, the Spvp in GW2 is trash in comparison. Still better than many other games. But compared to GW1 it is far from where it should be.

Neverwinter’s combat is not good as far as my opinion of it goes, and its certainly never going to amount to anything in PvP because of the crazy model its running with in the cash shop.
I’ve generally never understood the dislike of downed state except on a topic of balance between the classes. Its a mechanic and you learn to play with it, just as in Aion you’d learn to play with flying.

In a balanced mmorpg with equally geared people 1v3 will ALWAYS be impossible, and 1v2 rare
with equal gear AND skill maybe. but an elite player should be able to take out multiple lesser skilled players. or if equal skilled players perform poorly they should be punished for it. but with downed even a couple bad players or someone who makes tons of mistakes can simply be saved by down state
1 vs 3 even 1 vs 5 happens regularly in WvW. The fact you don’t have that happen in tournament may be means the match making actually works on personal skill level?
in wvw you fight vs undergeared people or fake level 80s. That’s why im saying you won’t 1v3 in spvp because gear doesnt matter that much.
If you drop downed state, another skill layer would disappear. The game doesn’t need to be dumbed down even more. Balance it a bit more? Why not. But drop it? Nah.
Are you kidding? The downed state is what dumbs this game down. It turns everyone into healers. Bad play is covered by someone healing the downed player.
If you had played enough I think you would appreciate the downed state. It might be confusing for beginners but it adds depth at high level play.

Strongest profession is now considered to be the ranger (58%). The elementalist has fallen down in the list after the nerfs (previously 7X%, now 11%)
Weakest profession is still the warrior (65%)
66% of the people consider balance is slightly better now. 25% think nothing changed. However the community prefers small changes (56%) rather than big ones (44%)
There’s a big consensus on what should come next. 47% of the people prefer soloqueue implementation before any other addition to the game.
Only 73% of the people see a bright future. (37%= esports) (36%= just a healthy pvp).
65% forum readers would buy an expansion. 35% wouldn’t.

Downed State.
A completely unbalanced mechanic designed for bad players in PVE. Somehow this mechanic managed to find itself in competitive PVP for no reason what so ever.
Ask the developers what the design intent of the downed state is for PVP. Why this mechanic exists and why they think it creates exiting game play. A game play so exciting that the whole world wants to tune in and watch.
I wouldn’t play this game if it didn’t have downed state. It adds depth to the gameplay.

I disagree with everything people are saying in this thread. People don’t make and play in teams because it means revolving their lives around a video game. To play in a team you need the same 5 dudes online. This is impossible unless those 5 dudes make an effort to be on at certain times. When things reach this point then the game becomes a job. Sometimes you dont want to log on at 7 but 8 instead. Sometimes your irl friend is on and you want to tourny with him in a duo queue. Sometimes you dont fancy playing that day.
But in a “team” you cant do this without meaning the rest of your team cant tourny that day (if they “only” play with their team), or they cant play as a team that day.
The reason people dont make teams is a real life one and nothing to do with the game. Sure you could have a team and obviously still play with other pugs. Most people do this. But even doing this, the time you play with your 5 man team will be very rare as it requires on people all being online at the same time. Impossible for most people.
And this is why we need a working soloqueue.
PvP is not taken seriously by players because arenanet doesnt take it seriously either.
If a company doesnt believe in his product, why would the customers do?

However I think a few big changes should be made to certain professions & builds.
It’s a survey, not an essay. There is no right or wrong answer, it’s about personal opinion. If people answer what they think is correct, then there is no point in having the survey.
Well that was my point. People complain on the forum about a few professions that needs some big changes, which the votes also reflect, yet people still think there should be made small balance changes. Obviously, for the profession balance to be fixed, there needs to be some big changes to it. Wanting small balance changes would make sense if each profession had around 12.5% votes.

I was trying to say that although “small changes” was the most expected answer, many people prefers big changes. It’s still a minority, but it’s growing in comparison with past surveys.
I had in my mind something like LoLs pick when i was saying seeing enemies classes
but you already see enemy picks (profession)… what you dont see at start are items and skills which they take as they level up (build)… you must compare right things

Right now you can’t think a proper strategy until you find out which role is every enemy playing. Sometimes you won’t figure out if the enemy is a bunker or a dps until he hits you.

First of all great job with the custom arenas and the observer.
Things that need to be changed:
1) Reset custom arena function to update changes that were recently made. For example i made a mistake like making the teams 10 person each and ready option on, well it won’t reset unless a considerate amount of time passes with the room empty or 20 people ready up on my room.
2) Add administrators for the public channels there are many channels that were made for 2v2 3v3 duels and people went capping points etc ruining them, either because they are new to the game and ended up there or because they were trolling.
3) Be able to kick spectators! this is very important, spectators can be badmouthing on map chat, spying for some team, stream matches that were organized for someone else to stream etc.
4) If you make changes on a private room(pass-worded) and you don’t renew the password on the field it resets and goes public without password.
5) When u first enter the game u cant go to the mists if you don’t select a side or spectator.Suggestions:
1) Pause game! if you implement this it will be awesome for the tournaments in the case someone gets a disconnect we just pause the game and skills stop recharging their cool downs.
2) Replay function
3) Option to limit classes(this can be used to have warrior only public games for example)
4) No points for capping or doing secondary objectives like orb(so the custom arena goes duel arena mode)Everyone feel free to post you feedback and suggestions here. I have more things to be added but i can’t recall them right now.

Rangers are OP and all due to their pets….
I dont want to live in this planet anymore.
When i see an opposite BM Ranger i do one and only thing…..Avoid Pet attacks…So easy since they stop moving before attacking.Pets are so easily kiteable…They only thing that they must reduce is the leash range…Everyone complaining about Ranger OP i think they will stop in a few weeks after they found out that a BM Ranger does 0 pure dmg…Only pet and cond dmg…Keep cleansing and dodge pets attacks not Rangers…Shortbow hits for 150-200,no skill does like 3k dmg so you dont need to dodge.when it comes to sword it will be tough since it locks you AND THE RANGER down…Ranger cant dodge or move freely during the Swords autoattacks,use it against him..And a BM Ranger is totally worthless in teamfights,the only thing that can do is just to aoe fear with wolf,and believe it even BM traited,even with many regen,pets oftently die in teamfights,especially the dmg ones (cats,birds).
He will not kill you, but you won’t kill him either. And don’t forget we are playing conquest, so it’s easy to abuse this.

Hello guys, many of you already know how this works. I try to make a PvP survey every now and then to gather the community’s opinions towards the PvP state of the game. Anet devs have read them in the past, so be honest and try to help this initiative.
The first survey reached 1600+ responses with a peak of 460 daily participants. We managed to collect a lot of opinions and the time has shown us that Anet have worked trying to solve some of our concerns.

Rank =/ MMR. They could have won 1-2 matches, been sky rocketed because of this, finally hit a match that will in turn knock them down in normalization. ArenaNet should just show a person’s MMR at the end (just like rank) so we stop seeing these QQ posts of uneducated players.

Stop whining already. If you fight someone, he has similar rating unless you have been in queue for 10 minutes or you play during nights & mornings. Im talking about EU mostly. If you don’t believe me, search in the ladders the guys you fight before every match.
And if you lose to someone with way higher MMR, dont worry. You will not lose much rating.
Whatever happens, MMR does not work in GW2. In WoW my arena win/loss ratio was around 50% always. In LoL my win/loss ratio is around 50% always. Those games use MMR, it works. In GW2 my win ratio in tournaments is around 30% AT BEST. Why?
Because you must be soloqueuing. Remember you are fighting vs premades often, and you are likely to lose. That makes your 50% go down to 30%.
If you play as premade and have a 30% win rate, well I have very bad news for you.
Also, according to you the people that is on top 1000 is only there because matchmaking is helping them? Good excuse.
My advice: if you don’t want to lose, play with premades. If you don’t care about your rating, soloqueue and have fun.

I have seen lots of the fotm ele players rerolling to ranger, one of the best classes now. The same thing happens with HGH engineers. They are incredibly easy to play and way too strong.

How hard is it to implement random rotation for a company as arenanet?
I fail to understand this.
If we had a decent pool of maps they could add a "ban 1 map " system for each team
why in hell are they making a new map, last thing the game needs is another map.

To survive you will need 30 in arcana (with evasive arcana, water dodge is really strong).
20 or 30 points in water are also a must. (dont forget the V trait)
The other 10 points should be on air I trait.

What exploit? I let random people carry me through intro with me killing nothing and then never accepted the reward and went straight to pvp (Gets rid of the big shield popup)… please, enlighten me on where I exploited.
