So I’m really having trouble deciding what to make my melee weapon in my weapon swap. So far I’ve liked GS, hammer, and sword/shield. However, the sword/shield doesn’t do very good AOE.
Anyway, I’m using a rifle for range, so I’d prefer some AOE on my melee. Any suggestions?
Frankly, I don’t think the 500 badges are unreasonable at all. What about players who mainly like to WvW? If they want to get a legendary, they have to do ll sorts of PvE stuff to get it. Should the PvE requirements be removed for them?
Well the CHANCE is 1 in 3, so you just got really unlucky. However, you have to remember at the end of the day it’s still random, so there’s a chance, however unlikely, that you could get clovers every time you tried or never. It just depends on the roll of the rng dice.
So, after playing all classes to at least 15, engineer is the only one I can’t seem to figure out how to do a decent amount of damage on.
Any suggestions for what stats I should stack or what kits I should use as I continue?
Just what the title says- Are there any Arah explorable mode paths that take less than an hour to complete for an average PUG?
Just wondering if the legendary Incinerator still shows the flaming footsteps when you are cloaked. I.E. if I get it for my thief, is it going to completely ruin my stealthyness?
Then earn it instead of buying it.
There is a thing called the discovery panel that you use to discover new recipes. You combine components to discover them. This panel is the top tab in the crafting window.
I think his point is that he realizes that the AC sword glows at night, and not during the day. He is saying there’s a sword that looks similar to the AC one, but that he has seen it at night, and it doesn’t glow, so he knows its different than the AC one.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I’m definitely going to try leading without the badge and seeing what happens.
So obviously, the way you get commander status is to pay 100 gold for it. However, people often mention that they feel like just being a commander doesn’t mean you deserve it, or deserve having people follow you.
I love WvWvW, and am working towards commander status. However, I want to feel like I “earned” it. So, in everyone’s opinion what should I do to earn this title, in addition to saving up the 100 gold?
Because its more fun to kill a real player than some mindless Npc. First, it’s more challenging, and second, it’s satisfying knowing that guy you just killed now has to shell out coin to repair his armor.
Pretty sure transmuting is the only way to accomplish what you’re asking.
I am looking for a skin that looks like that, that doesn’t come from running CoE. I’m not a big fan of that dungeon (kind of hate it), and was looking for an alternate way of acquiring that skin.
There isn’t a way. Dungeon armors are unique to the dungeon they come from, as a reward to people who run them.
I’m discovering that finding a group for story mode dungeons, even using gw2lfg.com, is pretty difficult. What is the best way to do it?
The answer is much simpler…
Make it so you cannot run explore mode until you have completed story mode. this will make it so far more people are running the story modes, hence making more groups available !
Simples !
Well…for a bit at least. Then once most people have run them, then the problem will be the same…except intensified since new players will not be able to find sm groups AND will be locked out of em until they manage to scrape one together.
Just checked the TP. There are only 297 charged lodestones even available at the moment. That means that even if someone was a multi billionaire, there is no amount of gem buying or anything else that could possibly get someone the 350 needed for mjolnir. That suggests to me that the drop rate really, really needs to be fixed. Badly.
This happened to me too. It was fixed when I reversed which panel I was trying to put each of the items in for some reason.
i.e. I tried to put my mask in the right side of the transmutation panel and the new stats item in the left, and couldn’t transmute. Then tried puttin the mask in the left panel and the new stats item in the right panel and could transmute. Clearly some sort of a bug with this
They’re also used to craft runes like Superior Rune of the Scholar. They need to increase the drop rate significantly or put in different ways to acquire them like someone suggested dungeon tokens.
Or reduce the amount used in recipes. If they made the recipes require fewer lodestones, then fewer would be getting used, resulting in higher supply and lower prices.
For anyone trying to do what I wanted to- that is, farm solo for a vial of condensed mists essence, the swamp fractal was most successful for me. Went in with some magic find food, and just started killing spiders, Mosquitos, and siamoths. Didn’t bother with skelks, since I noticed after killing 10+ that they weren’t dropping ANYTHING. Finally got a vial after about an hour of killing those three things exclusively as a drop from a mosquito.
Happy hunting!
No problems on windows 8 for me.
Anet – you guys rock! I love GW2. Keep up the good work.

Different places. The Charr warrior is wearing Charr Tier 3 cultural heavy armor. The human second from the end is wearing Human tier 3 cultural light armor. However, I know that not all of those are Tier 3 cultural armors.
Not sure on the others – perhaps other people will know.
WvW can be a good source of cash, especially if you’re on at a busy time. Yesterday I made 1 g in an hour just from events.
With the personal story tied to your race, I seriously doubt any such feature will be put in.
This. Either they’d have to completely reset your personal story, or you’d have a Charr running around who was best friends with Logan Thackeray and who had human parents.
Yeah, my experience is mostly that people will even put themselves in to harms way, at least for a reasonable amount of time, in order to rez.
So….I really love my ranger. But I know for a fact I’m not using my pet as much as I could be. So – how do you use your pet effectively?
Mainly right now, my pet is just an extra target and a little extra dps. I don’t really think about my pet unless I hear my character tell me that my pet is down, and then i switch it out. That’s about it.
How can I improve this?
Well, aggro is much smarter in this game, and is likely targeting your GF because the AI sees her as a bigger threat, probably because she’s putting out more damage or something.
Second, there is no way that two people are going to take down a level 80 champion. It simply isn’t done. Veterans can be taken down by two, but the point is that as far as “tank” etc, this game is designed for you to take care of yourself – i.e. you can’t have one of you specializing in taking damage and one of you in dealing it. The AI of the enemies is smarter than that.
In other words, it sounds like your gf needs to up her survivability, and you need to up your damage. You don’t have to “spec for damage”, but focusing entirely on damage or on survivabilty will kill you. The idea is to balance your character based on your build. Use more control (immobilize, cripple, etc) abilities to keep an enemy away from your wounded allies. And get more people before trying to take down a level 80 champ.
Tanks really don’t exist in this game. There is no class that can spec for ultimate survivability. This game is all about specing to meet your build, and achieving a balance between damage and surviving.
I dont know how someone can say necros are subpar in dungeons^^. Not only they are incredibly fun to play, but also the aoe they can spread with conditions is just awesome.
Who disagrees with this has indeed never played one.
I feel the same about Rangers. People seem to think that Rangers are gimped for dungeons, but to me they’re extremely useful. The difference is that they’re not the “run into the mobs face and kill stuff” class that a warrior or guardian is, and so they don’t get as much credit as they deserve. I feel necros are the same. Always game to have a Ranger or a Necro in my dungeon party
Nope, you can’t get the Guild Emblem put on any of your equipment. The only ones that will display the emblem is the Guild Armor, and it looks awful
.
This. I bought the heavy armor, only to discover it looks like garbage. I thought it just applied the guild emblem to your existing armor, but it changes the whole appearance. Waste of gold
Good to know. It would just be nice to be able to go in and kill things to farm for the Vials without having to commit to a full fractals session. I don’t really care about the stats – I just really want a quiver for my ranger
It’s a good point, saving them doesn’t really cost you anything. Sometimes it would just be nice to get some of those ectos or T6 mats back.
So then, is it possible to jump in a fractal by yourself, and just start killing things in order to farm for the Vials?
I really wish you could salvage the legendary components and get at least some of the mats back.
The word “transfer” means that the condition leaves you and ends up on your enemy. So my understanding is that yes, it removes the condition from you.
So they can drop in low level fractals then?
Is there a certain fractal level that this drops from? All the crafting recipes for ascended back items require one, but I haven’t ever gotten one. I also haven’t ever done a fractal past level 4 , so I’m wondering what level these start coming aroun on.
Also, do they drop from chests or mobs?
It does mean you’ll have to make the legendary using the character that the precursor is soulbound to, however.
As far as the forge is concerned, all items of a certain rarity are the same. So 4 named exotics into the forge is the exact same as putting in 4 crafted exotics.
Is there any sort of a reference on that time? An official post or something?
Hi all,
I’m slowly pecking away at a legendary that requires TA dungeon tokens (Kudzu). Anyway, I don’t always have a ton of time to play at a given time, and am wondering how long each of the TA EX paths take, as I’ve never done one.
I realize that times vary based on what the group is like, but let’s just say an average group.
Thanks!
Thanks for the gallery links and the info. All good to know.
Guess I needed to clarify. There are a bunch of weapons that have the purple illusionary look of mesmer phantasm weapons, and I was wondering if there was a staff like that.
Just wondering if anyone knows of a good staff skin for a mesmer. The only one I’ve seen that I like is the Bifrost, but since that’s legendary….not sure I want to go through that much effort. Anyway, any suggestions?
Guild membership is account based, not character based.
Your brother just needs to go to the guild screen when playing his alt, and select the “Represent” option, and then he will have access to guild chat, etc.
Those items are just the ones that people have discovered the recipes for, and publicly posted them. So in all likelyhood, if there seems like there aren’t very many of a certain weapon type, there are probably recipes that are just yet to be discovered for those weapon types.
Unfortunately, there’s not. You’re stuck with whatever faction you chose for that character, and since all the armor is soulbound once you purchase it, it wouldn’t work to make an alt join the order of whispers either.
