Not to blatantly disagree with what you’re saying, but the error message one receives for the fast cast ground targeting and siege weapons can be misleading. If it noted somehow that it’s because of the option being on that the skill failed, no one would have an excuse to be confused.
While I agree that it doesn’t explain very clearly that the “target is out of range” because it’s targeting where your mouse cursor is, the statement “target is out of range” is accurate. This player would have had to manual turn on the option to do autotargeting, and as a result, should know that any AOE skill they’re using will target their mouse location. Personally, I think that it would be annoying to most people if the message was “Target is out of range because you have auto targeting on”. Takes up more of your screen
Is it possible the player was wielding some sort of legendary weapon that was giving off a glow?
Elementalists can’t weapon swap because they have 4 different skill sets for each weapon they equip. Engineers have weapon kits, so they can’t swap either.
Also, while they’re at it – if all price tiers have gems for a fixed price (i.e. no matter how many you buy, the price is at $0.0125 per gem), they should just give the option to buy a custom amount of gems. I’d even be fine with a minimum, like 400 or something. But it would be nice to specify how many gems I want, rather than having to buy in pre-fixed amounts.
I think it’s more likely that they will release more seriously ’’legendary’’ looking legendaries for gag weapons like The Moot and Quip and such (and maybe even the other way around for the greatswords and other good-looking ones).
Of course this doesn’t have to mean that there should be a Sunrise and Twilight for every weapon type. I’m sure they can come up with an equally epic, yet different concept for each weapon.
This is exactly what I hope they will do. I’m fine with having legendaries that are more “gag” flavor, like quip and the moot, but it would be nice to have epic looking ones too. I also agree that it would be fun to have gag legendaries for the ones that currently look epic as well.
So in looking around for cool rifle skins, I discovered that the only Mystic Forge recipe for a rifle is the Mystic Rifle. This was a little disappointing, as some of the coolest weapon skins in the game are the named exotics that you can make via the Mystic Forge.
However, if you look at the wiki page for Mystic Forge recipes, it becomes even more clear how unbalanced the weapons are in terms of how many different skins there are that can be made for each weapon. Use a Focus? Great, well, you’ve got about 15 different mystic forge skins to choose from. Anything else? You’re lucky to get 3 or 4 skins to choose from. If you use a rifle, well, sorry, there aren’t any recipes for you. Use a long or short bow? Well, hopefully blue goes well with your character, because the only options are a blue spirit weapon or an ice shard weapon.
Basically, my suggestion is just to add in more skins for other weapons besides Foci. I’m not saying that every weapon type should have 15 mystic forge recipes, but it is a little strange that there aren’t ANY rifles, and that many other weapon types are so limited in choices.
Would love to see some new skins rolled out to make this more balanced.
Look at the Mace.
The Mace!
It’s a friggin’ disco ball!
Nothing wrong with that, if it lit up and rotated maybe.
It is plenty wrong. Why should players that want to use maces be punished by a “joke” weapon while players who want to use greatswords get this really awesome, or dare I say, legendary-looking weapon?
The disco ball skin belongs in the Gem Store for teh lulz, not on a Legendary.
Same thing with the pistol – it’s hard to look legendary when you’re wielding a clown gun. Unless you’re a maniac clown named The Joker.
True. I suppose it is a little on the unfair side that one of the armor professions has a mat that can be gathered, where the others have to rely on salvaging and RNG.
Well, armor smith needs leather and cloth too, just the same as the other armor professions, so they need salvaged mats too.
I’d love an invite. Gizmo Puff — Gates of Madness
Edit: what does “max guilds reached” mean? That doesn’t make sense to me.
There’s a maximum number of guilds that you can join with your account. When he says “max guilds reached” it means that he tried to invite that person, but got a message telling him that the person was already a part of the maximum number of guilds that they’re allowed to be.
A pretty big oversight to have only one rifle that can be crafted from the forge.
Agreed – that’s why I asked, cause I thought the same thing. There are what, like 4 mystic forge greatswords? And like a billion foci….. oh well.
The wiki doesn’t have any mystic forge recipes for rifles other than the mystic rifle.
Does anyone know if this just means the recipes haven’t been discovered, or does it mean there just aren’t any MF recipes for rifles?
Damage in the vitality line, cooldown in the precision line(not exactly talking about rifles, but you can see the annoyance). Few of our traits are actually useful, especially for the stat allocation they work with.
Engineer traits are just all over the place, a giant mess if you ask me.
Only class I’ve played where I’m having a hard time sticking with trait trees
Just crafting, to my knowledge. You might be able to get one via gambling in the mystic forge, but I doubt they drop
Lol, I’m just hoping that if we do manage to pull off something awesome, it won’t result in another nerf…..
Yeah, I can’t imagine you’d get any destroyer bow off the TP for less than 25 – 30 gold, and even then the person who made it would be taking a loss.
Based on the prices of all the mats for both crafting of the inscription needed and the other pieces you would be spending far more than simply buying them. Unless of course you want to take the time to go out of your way and farm all the mats you need, in which case it will be free
Kind of free. It costs time, and also means you aren’t getting any money from selling mats
I’m looking to transfer to a server that is more active during the daytime (PST). Anyone have a server that is active in PvE/WvW during the day?
Might be the fractal dagger – fractal weapons leave a silvery trail.
This is awesome. I would join this guild

This torch is pretty cool, and is unique looking.
It appears that Lyss only requires 50 coins as well. See screenshot.
Good to know, thanks for checking
Edit : I updated the wiki to reflect the correct recipe.

Check out the legendary pistol, and you will quickly realize that all legendary skins are not created equal
That’s why I tried to emphasize TWO HANDED weapons. I know a lot of 1h legendaries don’t compare to the 2h ones… (Although the Incinetator still outweighs the Dreamer in terms of effects.)
This is only about 2hand legendaries.
Bolt is way better too, don’t forget about that. I guess my point is simply that it’s dumb that some of the legendaries are awesome, and some of them obviously didn’t get as much ANet love.
Check out the legendary pistol, and you will quickly realize that all legendary skins are not created equal
Thanks for the answer – was wondering if I was missing something there.
Makes me wonder if this means that they’re getting desperate.
If you buy it, you can use the skin once. After that, if you want to keep the look, you’ll have to use transmutation stones.
Is condition damage worth having on your gear, if your build puts down a lot of conditions, or is it more worth it to just go straight power?
You don’t have to level the crafting professions on the actual characters that will us th weapon, but you do have to do it yourself on one of your characters. The gifts crafted for legendaries are account bound after you craft them, meaning you could craft it on an alt, but can’t have someone else do it for you.
Legendaries wont be best in slot, only highest tier.
So the current lvl 80 legendaries wont be best in slot anymore when the lvl cap gets raised.
Sorry, but this is downright false. Lindsey Murdock said specifically (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/) that legendaries will ALWAYS be upgraded so that they stay best-in-slot.
1. Twilight
2. Sunrise
3. Juggernaut
4. The Bifrost
5. The Dreamer
Hey, the fps drop happens to me in that cave, too
Oh ok! Thank you, so for WvW none of the crafted items will help?
Well, WvW uses the same items as PvE, so yes, a crafting profession can make items that can be used in WvW
It does mean it doesn’t exist
The game files are searched completely for all known items and as such, we are able to get a complete list of them currently in the game.
I am sorry, but I am going to have to disagree with that. I have been looking at the list of mystic forge/other weapons page for a long time now, and it is constantly havin new weapons being added to it as they get discovered by players in the Mystic Forge. I am sure there are plenty of weapons out there that no one has discovered yet.
Please note that I could be 100% wrong, this was just my opinion on the matter. xD
Not to mention that at the bottom of that very page, they have a spot for recipes that are verified to make SOMETHING but that people don’t know what they make. There’s a recipe sitting there right now, that hasn’t been made and thus it isn’t known what it makes.
So that page does NOT have all possible recipes.
Thanks for the info
Bored with my guardian, and want to start from scratch on a new character.
I’m going to stick with my next class through getting a legendary, and have played all of the classes for long enough that I’ve decided on weapon sets for them.
Anyway, I’m trying to decide between going with:
Dagger/Dagger; Shortbow Thief, and going for Incinerator and then the Dreamer
or
Rifle Engineer, and going for Predator and then Frenzy.
Anyway, I really like both of the playstyles of these classes, but I’m having a hard time deciding which to go with for now.
I don’t really care much about dungeons, but I do like to WvW, sPvP, and general PvE.
Any thoughts on which I should go with?
No crafted items are good for Spvp? Or is that the one where you get all sets of armor?
sPvP is completely separate from WvWvW and PvE. In sPvP, everyone has all their skills unlocked and starts at level 80. Any stats you want on gear is available for free. The only unlockables there are simply new skins for your gear.
Therefore, your crafting profession doesn’t play a role in sPvP at all.
Cool, thank you. Hadn’t noticed that before.
How long do each of the CoE paths take to complete, say, for the average PUG?
Which type of PvP are you meaning? sPvP, or WvWvW?
If WvWvW, then any crafting that would be good for PvE would be good for that. If you’re talking sPvP, then crafting professions don’t matter there.
I noticed that there aren’t any traits that increase the range on a thief shortbow or pistol to higher than 900. Is there any way to get range on these weapons greater than 900?
What chest armor are they wearing in the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3gnNwwuO6w
Also, anyone know what dye that is? Abyss, or just black, or something else maybe?
(edited by Revan.6259)
So then this Maw of the Deep is actually this Kamohoali Kotaki and its precursor is the Charcharias?
Yes.
I’ve done 10 – 80 before on less than 50 gold.
However, on a completely different note – I’d recommend NOT leveling that way – you don’t learn the profession near well enough to succeed as a level 80 if you level by crafting alone.
I learned that the hard way.
What are the point of the skills that are available on 1hand weapons when there is no offhand weapon? Are there actually builds using only one one-handed weapon, so that the no offhand skills are used?
(edited by Revan.6259)
I’m more bummed they didn’t take the kitten fractals out of the monthly.
3) If you want a Legendary weapon, you’re gonna have to work for it. If you can’t handle 500 Badges, get ready for a headache when you start your Clover quest.
Amen to that. The clovers are a royal pain sometimes.
