It’s ridiculous that we have to replay the same content 23 times for a set of armor. Make that 30 runs if you want a weapon too. THIRTY.
At 30mins-3hrs+ per run, that’s 15-90+ hours of the same thing over and over.
Oh, and that’s before taking the decreasing rewards into account.

Anyone else have a problem with this, or am I alone?

I agree with the fact that running the same dungeon over and over and over again does get a bit boring. Theres literally no incentive to run anything else if your stuck farming a certain dungeon. I would love a universal token that you could use for whatever reward you wanted to use it for rather than being backed into a farming corner with the same dungeon. Or at the very least a way to convert one token to another perhaps with some sort of slight loss

this game is not WoW plain and simple. we dont need DPS meters. we dont need healing meters. we dont need to judge people based on numbers. dungeons are about creativity and survival. these meters would serve no purpose in a game like this and would only hurt it in the long run

my group had the same issue a few weeks ago. Detha enters the room but the ghost NPC does not spawn and start the event. The only way we got it to work was restarting the entire instance. it worked fine the second time we did it

i had the exact same issue about a month back. group downed the final boss. the red text in the upper right corner said something along the lines of the dungeon being completed but it never popped up with a reward. ive done it once since that time and i did get the reward the second time around. the only difference between the two runs that i can think of is that some people were dead and running back when the boss went down and none of us got the reward. the second time we all killed the boss with no deaths and received the reward

ah yes i remember this bug clearly now. running around trying to pick up those items and drop them into the box due to that bugged event. this bug was reported months ago and is still unfixed. makes the event a blast. those items are so rare and disappear so frequently that it took me AGES to do with other people running around doing it to. please fix this. if you cant figure the bug out then remove the event so it doesnt screw up the renown quest

i know they will never implement an actual raiding system in this game similar to other MMO’s and thats completely fine by me. but something i think that would be a great addition to the game is 10 man dungeons. make the bosses require more co-ordination and make the overall experience more challenging. raiding in typical MMO’s gives you much better gear than regular dungeons but with the design of this game that wouldnt be the case since everything at the end game level is for looks once you have the exotics you want. give players a bigger challenge yet keep the rewards on par with everything else

the dungeon finder is a necessity for sure. there are plenty of people out there that dont have huge guilds and have a problem finding people to run with. the dungeon finder does not need to mimic WoW and teleport you to the dungeon etc. they can make their own spin on it and at least pair you up with people

a huge contradiction i noticed in that interview the other day that was broadcast online was…

they want to make the game easier for people to play together

there are no plans for a dungeon finder. pretty sure the dungeon finder defines making the game easier for people to play together

AC Burrows Bugged

theres ways around it but thats not the point at all. the point is that they are bugged and its an annoyance thats being ignored. my mesmer hits them no problem standing still. not 1 obstructed or miss pops up at all. i bring my ele in there and every fireball is obstructed even when it shouldnt be. you literally have to find the perfect arc of the fireball going down so the splash damage still hits it. and thats also when im standing perfectly still. its a silly bug that needs to be fixed

this issue wouldn’t irritate me half as much if they would actually just comment on the issue and say they are fixing it. ive seen a good dozen posts on this and not one single official comment. this bug definitely existed right at launch and if thats the case it was also definitely in the beta. its been MONTHS. its time for an official comment folks

has there been any official response to this issue? i’ve reported this issue several times over the last few months and never had a legit response to it. its getting tiring using certain characters to attack these burrows. MISS MISS MISS OBSTRUCTED. give me a break. its been months of dealing with this issue. I know your reading this Anet and a simple reply would go a long way for a lot of people

these bugs are extremely disappointing to encounter time and time again. its bugged on my server as well. the amount of bugs in this game is beyond mind boggling sometimes

i figured that the exact same thing would probably happen for me too and it has. Explorable modes for the most part are too easy. they do offer a challenge the first few times you go through but after that the challenge disappears. The same issue was true of World of Warcrafts “Heroic” modes which were anything but heroic. They were boring and easy. The difference there is that you could at least raid for a more challenging time. Since GW2 does not have raiding these dungeons are essentially the end all be all of the PvE world

something needs to be done either way. i enjoy the casual aspect of this game a lot but at the same time i miss the challenge that other games have provided. i would love to see something like a super difficult 10 man dungeon or something like that to change it up

i didnt try the crafting stations but i was annoyed yesterday when the crafting merchants there werent able to sell you anything. since i couldnt buy what i wanted i didnt bother trying to craft there. annoying and needs to be fixed for sure

i’ve seen this bug a good half dozen times now all in different zones including WvW

i almost got lucky this morning and mined one. i was a good foot away from it when it appeared suddenly and then disappeared

i actually came to the same conclusion from reading a specific post elsewhere dating back to August. I’m assuming this has been a known issue to them since at least that time and im very surprised that it still is an issue. hopefully they fix it soon though. thanks for the help Gator!

I’ve noticed some odd characters all throughout the text of the game for about the last month. I figured it was some sort of setting i accidentally tweaked perhaps but i just cant seem to figure it out. When i first installed the game i did not have this issue. it just appeared all of a sudden

When text is cut off such as when i open my friends list it will show something like this “Crucible of EterE” where that weird letter E(with a flat line above it) is where the text would start cutting off. i notice this all over the place and its driving me nuts. It’s also on my world map when i highlight a merchant for example. It will have 2 E’s when i highlight the merchant to see the description

I’ve also noticed the same thing with this character A(something weird floating above it). It’s usually all throughout the mail you receive after doing a renown heart quest usually spaced out between words. looksAsomethingAlikeAthisA

this problem is really annoying and im wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing? As i mentioned above i figured i might have just turned on some setting somewhere either in the game or in Windows or something perhaps but i just cant figure it out

patched the game, spent a fortune on a new gtx 680 and i get half the frames i used to get with my radeon 4980. makes perfect sense right?

any chance someone from Anet can comment on this thread? Theres now 25 pages worth of people looking for answers only to be met with dead silence. Its obviously a widespread problem and im sure everyone would love to know what the status of optimizing this game really is

one thing you can try is to download the Beta drivers for your Nvidia card. They improved my frame rate by about 10 FPS which is relatively minor but it was still an improvement

im pretty much in the same boat. everything is running like a dream except for this game for whatever reason. it sounds like an optimization issue to me. hopefully they resolve it for everyone that has a high end gaming rig. our rigs should be eating this game for breakfast

dropped a small fortune on a gtx 680 last night… getting 25fps on average . cant wait until this gets resolved. every other game i own plays incredible now except for this one

i’ve done it multiple times since the patch and i wont say its super easy but i’ve never failed to the point the group has disbanded either. Get the suicide chain down and youll get this event no problem. I’ve seen it done as 1 in at a time and i’ve seen it done with groups going in 2 at a time and kiting the mobs. its definitely doable! switch up your skills. use stuns or anything else that will slow them down, use and sort of shields etc that you might have and just try to stay alive. a little bit of organization and youll do it no problem

Long story short, they took them out of the game… and the majority of us say’s good riddance.

What does it hurt to leave it in? Im not asking they remove the level 80 gear.

there just isnt a point of doing that. there was no level 60 or 70 gear for the other dungeon vendors so why not make them all the same? it was a mistake on their part to have level 60 or 70 gear in the first place on those vendors and they have corrected that now

Im confused, I have tokens, Im not level 80. I want to use them. the tokens do take up bag space, which is ridicously limtied.

By that logic why should I bother getting any gear at low levels if Im going to replace it anyway?

And why did they remove the gear in the first place? It was there. What would it hurt to leave it, if I want to waste my hard earned tokens on something let me. The upgrades would help me run the dungeons I can more effectivly anyway.

upgrade your bag space / bank space if you have space issues

they removed the gear to put it on par with all the rest of the explorable mode gear. it doesnt really make sense to have level 60 and 70 rewards when everything else was 80.

why bother getting good gear for lower levels when your going to replace it anyways? thats exactly it. why bother when your going to replace it. you want level 80 exotics not level 40 or 50 or 60 or 70. why waste the time and effort spending gold or tokens on lower level stuff? use the trading post if you need temporary upgrades. wont take you long to hit 80

it was changed because the level 60 and 70 items are indeed a waste of tokens. you should be hitting 80 and then worry about your upgrades. those tokens takes ages to farm so they might as well go towards something you can to keep. just level to 80 and buy something good

on a side note, i feel that CoF path 1 is a more enjoyable route compared to the usual path 2. i like the challenges and contents in there… just the boss…

btw rinbox, don’t have to go in the gate like i explained. went in once and died badly when my team member left the beacon range haha

i really enjoyed path 1 as well. its a good change from doing 2 over and over. the boss though…. yeah…. needs some tweaking. 45 min worth of wipes and resets and we gave up. unbalanced for sure compared to anything else in that place

very true you can see it from outside the gate so range is a good option. at least 1 tough mob in there. we sent a melee in the first time though and he was able to get it by dodging that enemy thankfully. easy enough

i never played GW1 so i cant comment on that but its honestly refreshing for me to play the explorable mode dungeons in this game as they are actually challenging. I played WoW for many years and always found their dungeons to be a joke. Id rather play through a shorter dungeon with much harder pulls than play through an easy trash fest waste of time instance like every single WoW dungeon was. Including that bad joke of a mode they called “heroic” which was anything but heroic. With a lack of raiding in this game compared to other MMO’s high end content i dont mind these dungeons one bit as they take the challenge of raiding and just scale it down to dungeon form. Im enjoying myself anyways. bugs and balancing issues aside as well. they will get dealt with in time

COF - Path 1 and 3

heres a big boost for path 3 to help you out. USE VENT. no its not necessary but after about 5-6 failed attempts at lighting the torches we all jumped on vent. got it first try after that. the rest of path 3 was fairly easy

as for the 3 packs of enemies at each torch. you can send 1 person to each torch, have them kill 2 out of 3 of the enemies and then leash the last one so it resets. everyone calls out when to kill the last mob (after last one dies they all reset in like 10-15 seconds) and then you can call out again when to light the torches. worked like a charm for my group

path 1 HoneyBee explained it well. 4 people stand near the beacons and the 5th goes through the gate. down the gate controller and that event is done. everyone has to be standing near the beacons for the person to kill the controller though

One thing I quickly learned when i first started playing this game, is to forget everything you know about mmo’s.. GW2 like you said has no holy trinity, and you rely heavily on eachother to pull through a dungeon.. You have no idea how many times my groups have wiped because a warrior just wanted to tank, or the glasscannon thief with no hp gets one-shotted.. It will take some time to get to know the new system.

The group i am running with now can clear most dungeons, mainly because we help eachother out alot.. Everyone is cc’ing, placing boons or symbols, heals, ress, removes conditions etc.

You’ll get there eventually, but you will have to learn a completely new system.

Agreed. this game is not World of Warcraft and those tactics do not apply at all. So many fights in that game is your character standing there spamming this key and that key and pew pew boss is dead. That mentality only takes you to the grave in this game. Plenty of bosses or even trash mobs are extremely deadly and their abilities must be dodged at all cost. Once you get to know the enemies and bosses things will get a lot easier. Dodging is definitely key to survival. I have cleared all of the story mode dungeons and plenty of the explorable modes as well to varying degrees of difficulty but have usually come out successful

well in all fairness since there is nothing else to really do for endgame PVE since raiding doesn’t exist for high end PVE players like other MMO’s there has to be SOMETHING hard to strive towards. Raiding in other games is essentially the same thing as these dungeons except 10+ people instead of 5. Theres wipes. lots of wipes. these places are intended to be extremely challenging to the high end PVE players otherwise there is literally nothing to. Its all about execution in these places. Same as the high end raids in other games

i agree that something has to be done about the wait times for WvW. as for an overflow server i think that issue really complicates the balance of WvW. I dont know what the player caps are currently set to but maybe they can be increased a bit without upsetting the balance i dont know. Another WvW map in general would be nice to alleviate the huge list of queued players perhaps. I have also experienced over an hour of wait time on several occasions

i’ve experienced the same issue invited 1 odd person from a different server. that person has never been able to zone into the same instance as us and has always been booted because of it. its a bug for sure. im sure it will get worked out

i also tried this event last “legitimately” rather than doing the suicide chain that you describe. I have done the suicide route a few times and know it works well at the expense of a small repair bill of course. This event is absolutely insane if you are supposed to kill all of these mobs that spawn. My group was able to kill a few of them but quickly got overrun. I dont think its possible to kill everything that spawns and it has to be intended that you eventually get overrun and start running around kiting them. Theres absolutely no way to do enough DPS to kill even half of what spawns before that door blows up. I had good success last night going into that room with my group, killing about 2 or maybe 3 of these guys and then just having everyone running around trying to survive. those that died would quickly make their way back to keep the event going. Seems a bit too tough but theres a couple of ways to do it. I think a mix of “elite” and non elite enemies would make more sense for that event rather than just super powerful spawns appearing quickly. that is if they intend for you to actually try to kill everything

1st Path of CoF boss bugged?

im throwing in my 2 cents for this fight as i just attempted this boss last night. I had a group of 5 people on vent that i completed path 3, path 2 and then we went for the last path since the group was doing so well. We had no problems with any of the other paths and breezed through for the most part. All was well until we got to the Legendary Searing Effigy

so we get to the fight and watched the scene before hand. the NPC’s tell you that this guy is going to spawn some crystals and that he packs a punch. ok thats a good hint. spawns crystals which we assumed had to be killed. well good luck doing that. we had 5 people all attacking crystals and they spawned quicker than we could possibly take them down. we reset the fight. next strategy was to do as much DPS as possible and try to burn him through the healing. we used some poison and had SOME success doing this. we were able to get him down to 30% about 50% of our attempts but could not burn him any lower due to the crystal healing. we tried burning him to 30% and then focusing on crystals and ran into the same problem as before. they spawn so quickly that you cant kill them to make that a viable strategy. so we tried over and over to burn him down and just couldnt do it. it was very frustrating and obvious to everyone in our group that this boss needs some tweaking. he has a very high damage output, the crystals spawn WAY too quickly and they also fall way too fast. by the time you notice the red circle below you your already taking a crystal to the head and if your super lucky you might consecutively get hit by 3-4 of them and instantly die. The final boss on the third path was balanced really well and was a super fun fight. The final boss on path one was a huge disappointment as its just way too unbalanced and not fun at all

i’ve actually had the opposite experience. i’ve tried several times to group with people on other servers and not once has it worked for a dungeon. everyone on my server can zone in just fine and the lone person on the other server can never join us. annoying and most likely unintentional

fix one slew of bugs and create new ones in the process. gotta love programming. best intentions im sure but even with the DR explained these random reward numbers being posted from everyone definitely seem broken. and badly broken too. dailies not working etc. sounds like people are missing a whole ton of badges

big time bugs with the new dungeon changes. check out the dungeon forums. these posts are flooding that forum at the moment. everyone seems to be getting completely random amounts of rewards for both tokens, xp and silver. diminishing returns are one reason for some of the randomness but it sounds like theres a few bugs mixed in with DR still

i posted about this being bugged weeks ago for range as well. as elementalist my fireballs would routinely fly towards the wall and i would get an “obstructed” pop up. even though i was standing a few feet infront of it with a clear attack path right at it. i found one burrow that was particularly buggy for everyone to hit and that was the one to the far left when the event starts. this buggy mechanic prevented the group i was with from completing at at the time

agreed with out of combat swapping. in combat swapping is OP but out of combat makes sense. i am hoping for this change as well. its annoying to switch from inside my bags all the time so i dont bother doing it

I agree that major improvements need to happen for the group finding aspect of the game. The current system feels like im playing World of Warcraft circa 2004 when everyone was just yelling anywhere and everywhere they could with LF1M blah blah dungeon. Its a tiring ancient method of finding a group and its no fun to sit there aimlessly trying to spam chat and find people. If a dungeon finding tool is not implemented then they need to do something like this lobby system

on a side note when i am forming a group and i decide to take the leap of faith to open the LFG browser window theres absolutely nobody there ever. Ive seen probably 2-3 people use it since the game launched when i have opened it to look. its obviously not working
