Really dissapointed that the finisher is limited… 250 is really not much, this will blow through very fast. I was really expecting something permanent for winning the season.

i think a lot of people were under the impression that the finisher was going to be permanent when this reward was initially announced. I know they did clarify that it was a limited use item a while back though which basically sapped any excitement of actually obtaining it

something more permanent was definitely needed here seeing as this was a 7 week venture. a unique skin of your choosing would have been an ideal reward similar to their achievement point rewards. very disappointing to see a bunch of extremely common farmable materials rather than something unique. im not going to regard the mini dolyak as anything super exciting

this is disheartening to say the least. i was really hoping for something solid and unique for this reward. If they can make cool unique weapon skins etc for achievement points why not do the same thing for each WvW season and offer some sort of skin? ANYONE can farm all that junk in a very short period of time doing anything else in the game. The only unique thing there is the mini dolyak… whoopdy do. another item for my collection tab

I think some people are totally missing the point of the type of goal ascended gear is supposed to provide.

It provides an LONG TERM end game goal related to character progression, infact is the only end game goal that offers a stat progression instead of aesthetics. The materials needed to get it encourages play throughout all areas of the game.

The 3 ascended materials for obsidian refinement you can earn doing world bosses, dungeons, fractals, world vrs world, and killing champs/opening chests any where in the open world.

Having max crafting, something that most of use used throughout our leveling process now offers a continuation for end game. They would have a hard time adding armor acquisition methods outside of drops to other areas of the game because crafting acts as a time, effort, and money gate.

Materials of all tiers that would have to be gathered in all areas of open world, in world vrs world, or via gold through your favorite income producing activities. Even salvaged from items.

It is a grind only if you make it a grind, if you must have it ASAP and the only means you find acceptable to obtain that is the fastest most tedious way possible, and that bothers you, that is not the game’s fault, that is your fault. You are in no way forced to grind out gold and materials in a champ farm or any of the popular farms, nor are you gated from any content from not having ascended weapons and armor.

I for one certainly don’t plan on focusing on obtaining my armor in the first week or even the first month, as I am a die hard anti-farm player. Having already done 3 weapons, I know ascended armor will eventually fall in my lap if I just participate in multiple areas of the game, save, and keep doing what I find fun with my guild.

What is with this obsession with light armors and the ridiculous masks like you are attending some kitteny ballroom masquerade? Why is the only wizard hat a town clothes item from some random event way back when? I seriously don’t understand when there is so much rich fantasy spellcaster type lore to draw from in Tyria and just in general. I do however like the medium armor look. It’s hard to say much beyond that since I hate the way charr look in most everything beyond a few sets.

I am not a fan of the masks either. I think there are too many as is which limits my choices for light armor helms. I would really like to see something new

It’s official, living story has killed holidays. Starting with halloween, more content was removed than added but at the very least we got a new reward for the meta achievement. Now Wintersday 2013, the same exact event as last year, with the same exact rewards? No new anything? The only new items are 500 gems each, much more expensive than the santa hat last year… Why should I buy gems and pay for a grenth mask when the only thing being added is ascended armor which nobody wanted in the first place?

Living story is getting way too much attention, holidays should have new stuff to do as well as the previous year’s stuff (other than the rewards obviously)Theres another update on christmas eve according to the 2 week cycle but during halloween we had a second update which had nothing to do with it so I have no hope for a second part.

i enjoyed the wintersday content last year more than any other “christmas” or winter event from any other game or MMO. It is slightly disappointing that there doesn’t seem to be anything new here. It won’t stop me from enjoying all that content over again though! I loved the jumping puzzle and the bell choir was fun too. Even if we don’t see anything new i think a lot of people will appreciate some time to work on their Ascended armor (if your one of the people working towards that). Regardless im still looking forward to this awesome content making a return!

These topics are getting old. There is nothing to discuss. If you wanted a discussion it should have happened months ago not now on the verge of releasing.

this topic started that many months ago and we are still mad that says something. so no we wont accept blindly what could possibly the worst grind/money sink in mmo history

Seriously, you just came with worst grind/money sink in mmo history. Really? Man, you must not have played very many mmo’s then. I started with Everquest and then Dark Age of Camelot. Those games had a grind. Even though getting to 500 on crafting is tedious, it no way compares to the time and money spent leveling crafting in DAoC. on item could take like 3 or 4 minutes for the bar to go across and then you still had the chance to fail. I currently have one crafting profession at 500, and that is because I luckily had the mats for it available to level it up. I am slowly working my others up. In no way does it compare to other mmo’s out there.

Ok but one litle problem in era of Everquest grind was a norm in games. As same as losing everything while death and many other things.
This game is really going to be old style grindy game (even if there are some worse games) and it was supposed to be next-gen mmo. If was supposed to everything else then what is going to be now.
Would you like to corpse run for your loot if you die and lose it if you won’t make it?
I suppose not. But it is same thing people enjoyed in a past but no longer do exept some nostagic fans. (Even if we were very angry about losing everything it was a norm in games and we accepted it.)
GW2 was supposed to be free of everything that frustrated us in previous games from boring gear grind to mob,deposit,loot stealing.
And now they want to be same as those games we played before while they are still claiming themselfs a next-gen and that is ridiculous.

Complaints like these make absolutely no sense to me at all. They have improved on a lot of terrible mechanics from previous MMO’s like they intended to do. However when everyone cries about having something new to work towards it just ends up “being a grind”. WHAT DO YOU THINK AN MMO IS? its a REPETITIVE time sink. you spend time playing these games doing REPETITIVE things. If you want a linear game then your playing the wrong type of game period. Having new gear to work towards is perfectly fine. Thank god this game doesn’t have the Tier armor system like WoW did where every 6 months or so all of your armor and weapons turn to crap when they release something that much better. At least Ascended items have very minimal stat increases and they are fully accessible to every single player if you so chose to make it. The best armor in other games like WoW is only available to the absolute top tier players in some cases

MMO’s are extremely boring if you have nothing to work towards. I for one do not mind one bit working towards a ton of expensive time consuming gear. I’m not going to spend every single waking minute trying to farm materials for it but its something nice to work towards here and there

oh i totally understand what your saying. If you have never done this encounter before it could be a bit annoying especially after how tough it can be to get the Berserker down. After doing this boss in the initial release of the Molten Facility i haven’t had a problem since then with making sure i didn’t get hit by this ability though. Its just one of those mechanics to take note of. This boss is intended to be quite challenging

I wouldn’t constitute this as a bug at all. It’s an intended mechanic. You can’t complain about the boss of the Aetherblade TA path electrocuting the floor and giving you no warning. Same rule applies here. live and learn unfortunately

its a bug. killed me several times now. i never linked it to that fire circle specifically (could be it though) but i did notice countless times that spamming 2 on my keyboard only ended up in my death rather than letting me move around

I enjoy the large battles between zergs. I focus very heavily on AOE and love to see a million numbers spamming my screen. The lag gets a bit irritating but its a lot of fun for the most part. PPT etc i could care less about unless its a really really close match (which it never is)

There are definitely a few kinks to work out with the LFG tool. Another issue as mentioned in another post is the merge party function. Groups of say 4 people are able to merge parties with another group of 4 and have random members exchanged within the two groups. This can also reset and boot people out of instances mid run which is a big problem

i understand that this lfg function is a work in progress, but at least some official response saying we looking into it wil b nice, and seriously to not set a limit to how many ppl can merge into one party is jus stupid, it shows how little anet care abt their own coding.

I do agree with the fact that some more feedback regarding bugs in general would be nice. There is rarely a response from anyone even acknowledging whatever issue is being posted. A simple “thanks for the report were looking into it” would go a long ways in a lot of cases especially for the more game breaking issues. Hint hint any Anet staff reading this

Molten Berserker horribly unbalanced

You can still jump over the waves, however, the actual hit detection is wonky and you may find yourself getting hit even if you know you got the jump right. Same problem exists with the fire bolts that get thrown down, as not only do they hurt way more than they should and come out ridiculously fast, the fire rings have a slightly larger damage radius than the visual circle shows.

Exactly this!!! Jump all you want but the collision detection is not very good with this wave ability at all. Typically i have to jump way before the wave hits for it to actually miss me even though my character visually still gets hit by the wave. Same deal with Tequatl and his wave. The Molten Berserker can be a brutal fight and turn from great to dead with this wonky collision. Since the range is so large too its hard to simply just outrange it sometimes

The range boss has a similar issue as well. Those fire rings are definitely not accurate and hit you a bit outside of the rings. The damage if you take a direct hit from one of those is crazy and will likely down whoever it touches. Add to the fact that sometimes these fireballs come at you faster than you can possibly dodge = a real bad situation

To make matters worse (for ele’s) im sure a lot of you have noticed how vapor form doesn’t always work when downed during this fight. You get nailed by terrible collision mechanics with that wave and then your downed skill which is essentially your savior in a lot of cases doesnt work either. GG

This fight can be very frustrating even when playing it correctly!

Im pretty sure this is not a new bug, why is it stil not fixed?

We were doing Arah, jus killed GL, someone has to leave, so we pugged 1more, then some idiot already in another instance clicked merge party and we all got kicked out of ours. Over 20 min of my life wasted becuz of stupid bug.

Why can ppl merge with my party without even asking me? Where is my right to refuse? Why can a party of 4 merge with a party of 3 and hav memebers randomly assigned to each party?

Plz fix this bug asap, its really really kitten ing me off.

I noticed this bug the other night as well. I didn’t click the merge party button but i noticed it became available even though i was only looking for one more person. I had a party of 4 and the merge party button was available for another group of 4. from what you guys are all saying here im glad i didnt hit the button :P. in all fairness though the LFG tool does say its only a beta. obviously theres a few kinks to work out

It’s kinda interesting where people draw their lines at lately.

I mean, obviously SBI is fine with PvDooring, bandwagoning, and zerging servers with four times their numbers, and winning Coverage Wars against empty servers.

But suddenly, a 2v1 is totally and completely out of line? Really? SBI was predicted to win this matchup, so in reality, the bottom two servers are focusing the ‘top’ server. This is a design that Anet relied on when making WvW in the first place.

So, really, just stop complaining. 2v1’s suck, but it’s no different from fighting a server with literally twice your numbers—which Ebay has fought for the past, ohhh, six weeks?

Everyone in this matchup knows SBI can put the bodies on the ground. Heck, yesterday, they managed to muster a huge force that pushed BOTH YB and EB hard, out of their lands and took them to 300+ PPT.

So, really, SBI, what you’re feeling now is what your opponents in Silver League have felt every time they’ve fought against you (with the exceptions of YB and FA).

So…yeah. Welcome to our world. Hope it’s taught you a bit of empathy.

unless these are OPENED chests that randomly disappeared i wouldnt worry about this at all. they are worth absolutely nothing on the TP as the previous poster mentioned. as long as you still have your keys and any opened chests youll be fine

My thoughts on the fractals revamp

Pros
-An influx of new fractal runners, awesome
-At least we get gold now (Amount is meh, but I’ll take it)
-New fractals are fun and challenging (Reactor final boss was a great fight)
-Fractals are account bound

Cons
-The boss fractal chests seem to have only regular amounts of relics now, compared to the old Jade Maw bonus relics.
-Ascalon boss is now trivial, since the veteran charrs seemingly have AR now

I have to say that the last boss of the thaumanova reactor is definitely a great fight! i really enjoyed that one

I noticed that the boss of the Ascalon fractal was extremely easy last night when i fought him. I thought it had something to do with all the charrs being healed by my group or something. The boss usually destroys them all with one of his fire moves. I’m not sure why they survived but i did find it a bit odd

we did the same event last night but even taking our sweet time none of them died. There are 4 consoles though and you only need to activate 3 of them. Perhaps this event was designed that if you fail it you have to do the others instead? I know that fire room is typically skipped but can you not just finish that for the 3/3? It might be working as intended well have to see what others say

Being boring is reason enough for this fractal to have some significant changes done to it and devs themselves have said this fractal is unnecessarily long, why was there no changes?

If they have acknowledged it then theres hope for a future change. I am not trying to add to the forum negativity here by any means but it seems like important changes do take Anet a fair bit longer to deal with than other MMO’s. I still see bugs that have existed since beta (other characters using the wrong resource gathering tool on a node ie logging axe on mining node) and the exploits that existed in CoF etc took AGES to finally fix. My hope here is that something will eventually be done about this but it will take time as im sure they have more than enough on their plates already

After reading alot of the hate The Flamekissed armor got I got to thinking about Anets situation and how they could really make a good change to the game. But first I want everybody to know I understand why your mad at it but at the same time think its a little silly what they should do is remove all the flame armor at the moment and redesign it the Medium and heavy look awful the light was the only good one.Now for the idea I have what if Anet were to start making all the Cultural Armor like that but through the Mystic forge and by that I mean you buy the original Cultural Armor you want then go to The Mystic Forge Then By adding the piece of Armor you want, 5 Ectos, 5 Lode Stones of your choosing, and 50 Thermocatalytic Reagent could change the armor piece to look Fiery,Icy,Electric,Corrupted ,ect and only have that on the Cultural t3 armor for all the races I think this would make the game alot more interesting and people could have a cool look with a little effort. I know this may seem like a big project for ANet but they have put out alot of big projects before and pretty fast at that what do you guys think Id like to hear what you have to say about my Idea and upvote so Anet can see if you like it.

First off i think this idea is great! One thing i miss from other MMO’s is changing the look of your gear to add neat effects like this. However i think your idea of limiting this to cultural armor would be a huge mistake. If they brought something like this out it would need to apply to every single armor set they have. The reason being you would literally see every player in the game wearing cultural armor with a different slew of effects. The point of their skin system is so you can create any look from any variation that you want to make completely unique looking characters. I think that would still need to hold true in this case. It would add a whole new level of customization though which i think would be awesome

Hopefully this thread maintains the constructive criticism these forums require and not be deleted.

I really enjoy this game for a lot of reasons, from dodge rolling to WvW. The world was rich an immerse the moment I stepped foot into it. Once I caught up on the lore by playing Guild Wars 1, I really appreciated the story.

Then a weed named Scarlet was introduced. Sure, she felt a bit wacky, but I was okay with it at first. Then she started cropping up in everything, and it began to feel forced and unoriginal.

Now she is behind the Thaumanova Reactor and there are aether-looking items around the world with a sign saying “DO NOT TOUCH” (clearly of Scarlet design), and I’m just done.

ArenaNet writers, your players are speaking to you.

We do not like Scarlet Briar!

I have enjoyed the Scarlet content so far but you can only take this story line so far. I really hope the next installment of living story puts an end to this story arc. It’s time to see something new

Molten boss bugs

If your party dies and you click the respawn button too fast during the Molten boss encounter your entire party will be warped back to the middle platform immediately starting the fight again. I’ve noticed that some people might not even have the chance to res and remain dead on the ground while the other party members get slaughtered right off the bat. This bug was present in the initial release of the Molten Facility as well and needs to be fixed. I’ve seen on one instance as well where everyone was dead except for 1 person who jumped off the edge which somehow allowed the rest of us to click the res button and warp back to the middle platform mid fight. The boss was already down to 50% and we just continued the fight like nothing ever happened

There is also a strange bug that prevents elementalists from correctly using their vapor form ability while in the downed state. It works sometimes but not all of the time. You hit the button and nothing happens presumably ending in your death. very annoying! Myself and one other ele had this problem last night

This isn’t a bug per say but i think its pretty cheap still that you get blasted by Agony as soon as the fight starts and if you take ANY form of damage in the first few seconds of the fight that your immediately killed. I’ve seen half the party die in the first 3 seconds of the fight numerous times

Visual bug - resource gathering

Does anyone else ever see other players using the wrong gathering tools on a resource node? For example i constantly see people chopping down trees with pick axes for mining and vice versa. I have seen this bug a million times since the beta. It doesn’t happen all the time but i do notice it in WvW more than anything else

This may be the wrong section, and if it is, I apologize.

I’ve played a Thief and a Guardian and neither really tickle my fancy.. I was wondering what the highest AoE dps class was for WvW. PVE doesn’t interest me as much but I figure that it would be pretty similar for that..

I have played an AOE spec ele forever that i have been very happy with in WvW. When you unload a meteor shower on a choke point along with a lava font the AOE damage you dish out is amazing. If you have the talent that reduces your skill cool downs as well you can dish it out even faster. Not to mention your auto attack also explodes on contact and does AOE damage. Add the arcane talent blasting staff for increased AOE radius and your in business. Join a zerg, stick to the mid – back row and throw down AOE where it counts and youll be laughing at all the bags dropping

EDIT: what i wrote is purely for fire attuned ele using a staff

Apart from WvW having other problems atm I think a cap that would actually work well would be complex. Or at least it wouldn’t work as intended …

I don’t think it’s a good solution to prevent even more people from joining a map. Imagine it’s primetime for your server and you can’t join a map/ any map, because one server doesn’t have anybody on the map(s). It’s meant to be endgame-content which shouldn’t have too many restrictions. It’s bad enough as it is atm.

I’d prefere a reasonable buff for the outmanned. Such as more points for kills or takeover of towers. I don’t think a buff of stats would do the job.

Which is the lesser of two evils though? a completely broken WvW system or people complaining about que sizes? They are coming out with that queless WvW map so people can always engage in WvW regardless of que. Something that strongly needs to be considered here too is the fact that one server wouldn’t necessarily have a crazy low amount of players playing IF the matches were a lot more even. You would definitely see a spike in participation. I don’t think a soft cap would make populations so low to the point that it ruins WvW

I understand the gripe people feel here as when I first started playing this game a little over a month ago our server was consistently [Outnumbered]. It’s frustrating and I agree 110% that when things get lop-sided it can become extremely detrimental to server morale and will in some cases result in an outright surrender. But I just want to say that;
I’m not sure that WvW can ever be “fixed.” Technically it’s working properly. I’m not sure how we’re matched up right now but before the season began I understand that we were matched against similarly sized servers. People would often complain that it was broken and not working properly when it actually was. It matches servers on size, not WvW participation size. It wouldn’t make sense to match servers up based on how many people go in to it on a daily basis because at some random time a whole flock of people may decide to join and that would really mess things up for the other servers.
Also, there can’t really be a cap. In WvW, you can come and go as you please. There’s no time limit to how long you’re in there and you’re not required to stay for any period of time. If you want to join for 30 seconds and go you can do that. That’s why it can’t be capped. If for example Sever A has 50 people participating and Severs B and C have 50 people participating things are even. If Sever A has 20 people leave and is reduced to 30 people how can you balance it out again? By kicking 20 people from the other two servers? That’s really about the only way and I’m almost certain you’re thinking that would be a load of sh_t if that were the solution they came up with. So I’m just saying that unfortunately there isn’t any way WvW can be evened out. Well… There ARE ways, more than what I’ve mentioned, but none of which many people would enjoy. So our only real way to make things work out are by recruiting. Get more people in to WvW and treat it like a war effort, our servers are our country and we need more people to fight for the cause. No war has been won by complaining about it being unfair until the enemy says “you’re right, we’ll kick some dudes so it’s even.” So get those bodies moving and bring some new bodies in! The more opponents the better, that’s what makes WvW so awesome!

In answer to your question about people leaving IF there is a soft cap in place. Your example of 50v50v50 with 20 from one server leaving. Now its 30v50v50 so the cap is then placed at 30 instead of 50. People on the server with 30 people are allowed to join with no que which will raise the cap each time someone joins. The servers with 50 will not have any new players enter the match until people either leave or the cap gets raised based on the lowest populated server. Rather than being unequal 100% of the time the match then becomes unequal a sliver of the time. And thats all assuming that the server with 20 people leaving had 0 people in que to replace them. The cap is a great idea

i really don’t see a better solution though. Population is by far the number 1 issue. it makes total sense to soft cap it to keep the playing field fair. I would much rather see a fair 40v40 battle than an 80v20 battle that a lot of us see far too often. It doesn’t matter which gimmicky solution gets implemented if the population issue still exists and we continue to see these 80v20 fights. Its different of course if its 80v20 and the other server has 60 people elsewhere but that’s not the case. those other 60 don’t exist 99% of the time

The only solution here in my opinion which has been posted by multiple people already is limiting the player population per map. One server having 80 players vs the other two servers that have 30 each is going to result in a very obvious conclusion. Those two servers are going to get crushed. Good luck getting people to even join WvW from those other two servers if they are being beaten so badly. Make a soft cap starting at 20 players. Equal population is the only thing that’s going to remotely resemble equal battles here. it boils down to strategy from there if its an equal playing field

First off i apologize if i am late to the discussion here and this has been posted before

I have noticed a very clear trend in the first 3 weeks of season 1 and wanted to make a suggestion.

My server did very well in week 1 and i noticed there were constant queues to get into EBG and most of the borderlands. Week 2 we were beaten pretty badly in which case you could instantly get into WvW without que. Week 3 is on schedule to be the same as week 2 and there are also no queues. I know some of the queues in week 1 were achievement hunters but i would like to leave them out of the discussion for now

The problem that i am noticing is simple. When my server tries to muster enough forces to start taking back some towers or keeps etc with 20+ people we are consistently crushed by a group of 50+ from the server that is ahead by a huge chunk of points already. No doubt this is not only annoying but its incredibly demoralizing. Not only do people not even want to bother joining WvW when they see our server doing so terribly but it is also having a demoralizing effect to the people that do want to play. I have heard several commanders say they don’t even want to put up their commander tag because they don’t want to be responsible for our failure (which is ironically what they are doing by not putting up their tag)

The solution to this issue needs to be population caps based on the server with the lowest amount of players. I don’t know what the actual caps are here so im going to make these numbers up. It does not make sense to me to have the server on top with a full array of say 80 players in EBG when the other two servers combined have 60-80 players total. The power server has queues while the other two servers cant pay people to fill up WvW because they are getting beaten badly. Does it not make sense that if one server has say 30 people that the other two servers are forced to a soft cap of 30 players as well? to keep the playing field even if it was 30v30v30 then each server would let in an additional player or two keeping the population completely even until it hits the hard cap. I think this is the only way to prevent absolute blow outs that we have seen so far this season

Why can't Conquest be cast capture?

I just wanted to ask; why can’t conquest be like (drop the biases at the door please) WoW’s Arathi basin or something? Basically where you have to cast to capture a node rather than standing in a point (Minus the interrupt by pure damage). The reason I say this is:

- Its boring right now, you can’t play the field standing in a circle.
- Doing nothing but surviving to win is boring, you don’t even have to target the enemy as long as you stay alive and in a circle…
- Aoe would be still useful but not as annoying/effective for wiping people out.- Well timed interrupts would be more meaningful.

Honestly what I think would be more fun is an object capture like this:
- 5 second cast to capture.
- 20 seconds of being neutral (for back-caps) before you officially claim it, once you “capture” it. DEMOTES ZERGING.
- Thieves would be pretty funny in this gameplay, literally stealing captures. (Not sure how this would work out, but it does make more sense and sounds super fun. I don’t even play thief…)
- Would promote watching combat, not just surviving.
- Stability captures would be fun/clutch play but risky.
- More Risk/Reward play overall.

And its easier to set up now that glory is streamlined… I’m just saying, I think this would be a LOT more fun than standing in circles for the rest of our gaming career…

The whole capture the point process is exactly why you will never find me in sPvP. Boring is an understatement here. I was unbelievably excited to see that PvP in GW2 was going to be 100% about balance and players having equal gear and all that great stuff. then i tried it out and the whole capture the point process lasted a few games for me before i never bothered again. I LOVED the battlegrounds from WoW but i HATED the fact that their PvP was 99% gear based and 1% skill. Its frustrating to get killed by people over and over that have better gear than you just to get a few points to get gear good enough to start surviving. Very flawed on Blizzard’s part but they did definitely nail down their actual maps and game types. I would give anything to see capture the flag or any number of new and creative modes for sPvP period. Luckily this game has plenty of other things to do that I’m not overly disappointed at how boring sPvP is but i would love for that to change if they would so much as consider other fun modes

This is the way the entire game was designed to work so i’m not sure why you are actually complaining? Rather than paying 15 bucks a month for content and items we may or may not see / get we are only paying for stuff in the gem store that we actually want. Of course they are going to release awesome looking stuff in the gem store so they can make money off of all of us. If the gem store offered crap items and made them no money do you think this game would even exist at all? I think their black lion trading company model is absolutely flawless. New items every few weeks that are bringing in the money for their company AND its not a pay to win scheme either like certain other games COUGH Tribes

There are also usually two patches near an obelisk. You may have to stretch your definition of “near” a bit if the obelisk is in water. :P

There were also two patches of these just to the NW and the SW of the new NPC’s in Kessex. I’m not sure if they were tied to an event or they are permanently there but i had half the daily done in about 30 seconds from those 2 patches alone

Agree with the OP, its a terrible daily, takes for too long for a daily. You after do 20 offshoot spore events to complete it, so its 4x as long as the other daily, daily event completer where you do 5 events.

Should be 5 or 10 spores.

Also, YES THEY HAVE NERFED SPORE DROP RATE, shock, horror. I was getting 10-15 after completing 1 toxic offshoot event first night from some of the events, now its 3-5.

Once again this daily IS NOT TIED TO AN EVENT. if you are doing those offshoots to get this done then its your own fault for wasting your own time. you need to HARVEST 20 INDIVIDUAL PLANT NODES. not obtain 20 pristine spore samples which it does not ask for. you dont need to receive any pristine spore samples period. you can harvest any toxic plant and get the trash spore from it and it counts towards the daily. This daily can be done in literally 5 minutes of walking around Kessex Hills so please if you are reading this do not waste your time doing offshoots or champions to get this done

+1 to the good job. It’s not a whole whack of new content but it didn’t need to be. its setting the stage for something much bigger which we can all assume will be getting into that tower. It’s a good start to a good part of the live story. Plus its worth mentioning the meta achievement was super easy so players can have ample time to work on that WvW meta or the halloween stuff if they haven’t completed it

I don’t get it, so to do this daily I need to wander aimlessly across the map(not wvw, not kessex hills) hoping to find an event so i’ll get 4 harvests?

No not at all. you need to harvest 20 individual nodes to get this done. As a previous poster mentioned they come in clumps of 4-5 at a time usually so this daily can be done very quickly. Took me maybe 5 minutes of wandering around Kessex to get it done. Once again its not 20 actual spores you need to harvest. Its 20 nodes and has no tie to any specific events. 1 event = 1 harvest so thats going to take you a lot longer to do it that way

I just wanted to take the time to write a short review on my experience with the Flame & Frost content that’s come out over the last few months

I was initially quite excited to see that an exciting sounding storyline would be emerging over the next few months eventually building to some sort of epic conclusion. However the first part of Flame & Frost proved to be anything but exciting. I found myself scavenging for useless items and handing them in to NPC’s for an otherwise useless achievement. There was no excitement or fun there at all. It felt as meaningless as being in Lions Arch for the pumpkin carving achievement (and several others) and logging in and out 45 times and running around to each location over and over carving pumpkins. An unfortunate start

This cycle continued as more content rolled out. Fast forward to the two single player instances that eventually rolled out. I actually enjoyed those a lot more than anything that had come out previously. They were fairly short and to the point and unfortunately quite easy to boot but they were definitely more exciting than picking up useless mementos and handing them in. It felt more involving in any case

The 5 man Molten Weapons Facility instance is definitely the pinnacle of the Flame & Frost saga. Its definitely the best work to date. There is a bit too many trash mobs in there but the boss fights felt a lot more challenging and involving than anything we have seen previously. Its truly unfortunate that this dungeon is a temporary one as i know a lot of players have really enjoyed it. My only hope is that this dungeon emerges again in the future perhaps as an explorable instead

Final score 6/10

if it wasn’t for the Molten Weapons Facility i would have given it 3/10 as it didn’t really bring anything to the table but repetitive unfun grinding achievements. I have much higher hopes for future content

unfortunately two UI issues have existed since launch that are still in the game. Small and Large UI both yield text glitches and issues. You have to use the normal UI for now if you want to avoid these issues

How do I fight a thief?

I’m a staff elementalist, with a spec leaning toward damage, but still some decent toughness. My experience is almost all in WvW, only at little sPvP.

When I fight thieves, I can’t get enough hits in to make a difference. Even in a small group, I can’t lay down enough crowd control for my group to pounce on the thief and pummel him. The thief is invisible too much of the time.

Are there things I can do to stop the thief from continually re-stealthing?

What skills should I be using for those few moments when I can get a target?

Thieves are insane and very challenging to fight as an ele. I have seen Thieves on multiple occasions kill a group of 2-3 people while barely taking any damage. As you say they are invisible a majority of the time and somehow manage to annihilate people flawlessly. As an ele fighting a Thief in WvW it just brings back horrible memories of PvP against Rogues in WoW. same thing in that game. they can stun lock you and invis so much that you cant pull off a single move before your a corpse fertilizing the soil below

i noticed last night that when i linked “glob of coagulated mists essence” that the chat bubble that appears above your head actually wrote “globs of coagulated mists essence”. I have only ever found 1 of these globs and definitely only had 1 in my inventory but it added an S to the word glob to make it plural. minor text issue :P. In my actual chat window it displayed correctly as glob

I have tested this further and did not have the animation display at all during the ocean fractal this time which was previously ok for me. seems like it works only a % of the time. trying to figure out if there is a trigger for the effect working / not working. I do know that both times i used it in my most frequent fractal i was swimming forward while activating the ability. i wonder if standing still / moving makes a difference when activating?

So i have managed to telefrag myself several times in GW2. I have noticed that by jumping while you enter an Asuran gate (sometimes) or when your character gets teleported from fractal to fractal you can actually spawn dead once you load into the new area

I have noticed this specifically while teleporting from the starting fractal “lobby” to the first fractal I did on that particular run which was the ocean fractal. I was dead when the game finished loading the ocean fractal. I was definitely jumping around prior to teleporting

I also noticed the same thing in Rata Sum. I was running around with my Asuran Mesmer and jumped through one of the Asura gates there only to spawn on the other side as a corpse

I still think raiding would be a good asset or at least a form of more organized, structured PvE content with more players, which is raiding in essence anyway. There’s a lot of hate regarding it, which I don’t really get, because there is a lot of people that would like to see it. Not everyone wants it, no, but neither does everyone like PvP or WvWvW. And also “GW2 ISNT THE GAME FOR ITASUDHAUSHDAS” is invalid, because as far as I can remember WoW (OHNOHEDIDNT) didn’t have raiding from the beginning, nor a lot of dungeons. It all got more and better polished over the years and the same could apply for GW2. The combat system is awesome, the professions are cool and I think raiding for be nice as well. Will it work with the current professions, roles and combat system? That I do not know.

Whether its called “raiding” or not i would definitely like to see more challenging end game content for GW2. I think a group size increase for larger scale dungeons would be a lot of fun. Creating a few 10 man dungeons with harder mechanics than we currently have would be huge for this game. I read in a post by Anet that they have better tools for boss scripting etc now so im sure they can and will pull off something awesome in the near future.

(PS WoW actually launched with Molten Core and (i believe) Onyxias lair)

I’d like something that isn’t another raid or dungeon or operation or flashpoint or whatever. I got tired of them on WoW, TOR, and I am dreading Dungeons and Fractals because it’s just the same thing with a different name.

hmm im not sure what would possibly interest you in an MMO then? They are built with repetitive content in mind like dungeons, PvP, raids etc

I have noticed this issue as well. I started to notice it while i was doing the underwater parts of HoTW. It never displays for me in that instance. i used it several times in the underwater fractal over the past few days and it seems to display fine in there

If there was a system similar to Guild Wars 1 when they introduced the looking for group system in that it would be great. Plus with guesting coming soon you could then advertise across servers and you could group up with people that way.

Thats a big bonus to the prospect of implementing the correct LFG system in this game. You can reach an entire region worth of servers since this game is 100% playable cross server already. A big downside to spamming LFG in LA for example is that your in overflow 1 out of who knows how many and your only reaching a small audience. So people tend to have issues finding groups
