It was a lot better with ground targetting, thats for sure… this patch did not help out trapping at all

Targeting traps was awesome, but now, they are real weapon, if you land it in right place.
You > Party members > pet > ppl around you > ppl minions > NPC
There is almost no animation when you put trap as asura and jump in same time.
I hope you know about NV trait + Energy sigil + QD + Ambidex + Aoe Blind every few seconds. (don’t remember 4 or 6 sec)
You have elete shout with 48sec cooldown and endless stability for team fights.
You can keep spot burning 90% of time and put waterfield that cleans condi from everyone every second in team fights. you have evade on every weapon choice and huge leaps. If you lay defensively you can stay in dodge/evade 70% of every weapon swap, to w8 right moment for burst.
And best thing in ranked, that almost all think same as you, that Rangers are Crap and will die fast and do no damage.
After fist fight 70-90% of ppl say WTF was that? Nerf rangers!
and all what i say to them: “You are not prepared!!!”

Looks like you never layer proper trapper ranger and try to judge it.
And looks like you don’t get, that these count of condition stacks you apply in less than 2 seconds and can reapply half of them almost every 3-4sec.
btw if you don’t know, taunt are going threw allot of block/immune/evade skills and interrupt them.

if you say that people did not stay in your traps, then you play it wrong!
You have to combine trap spike damage with pet’s taunt.
After you forced target to spend he’s stunbrakes, you 100% win the fight.
in 3sec taunt you’ll apply 17-23bleed stacks(depends on spikeTrap came from CD or not) and 12-18burn stacks. totally it’s about 7-9k damage in second. and only necromancer and warrior in Sentinel gear will stay alive for 1-2sec after taunt ends. all other classes wil melt down till the taunt end.
And yes, you can do these spike burst every 15sec if you do it right.
And yes, target can’t dodge or get out from your trap when taunted.
ppl think that trapper are faceroll and weak ranger.
It’s easy to play, but really hard to master. And if you’ll master it, you’ll become worst nightmare.
This effectively makes it so spirits only have a 10s CD not a 20s CD, this has been around since beta, and it’s amazed me no ones mentioned this…

I’m using sun Spirit in pvp.
SpikeTrap+FireTrap+SunSpirit for Condi point holder are really awesome, but you lack stunbrakes then.
In team fights it’s help allot if you play with CeleNecro and condi/cele ele.
They have to do same way as they did with Rangers.
Just Cut your bow from 1200 to 900 range, and you’ll don’t cry that weapon range so long and traps are not ground targeting.
My ranger have 0 block skills, so i’m fine with unblockable skills.
I know these skill, but i’m running only Condition builds now, and GS are worst choice for that.
Other classes have Block from Util/Heal skills/Kits/passives and ranger have Only from GS.
We can call it PRojectileBlock because if someone will attack you in meele range, you will be rooted.
My ranger have 0 block skills, so i’m fine with unblockable skills.
But Blurred Frenzy is also channeled and gets interrupted, so this would be yet another bug.

About OP Trapper ranger.
To be competitive, it have to use build that have NO stunbrakes and NO OnUse conditionCleans. Only that way it will perform in pair with other classes, witch can take Stunbrakes on every button, more interrupts and anyway do same or better damage in pvp.
You can’t block or (skill)evade it, but you can dodgeRoll it.
You tested these untraited? or you have traits in SV tree witch gives your pet -50% damage when higher than 90% health threshold?
IMHO it will not be OP.
It will be as it have to work.
Whole BM tree affect our PET and 20% of other mechanics rely on our pet.
Now if our PET die, then 40-60% of our TRAITS totally stop working for 45-60sec.
Lets make it balanced!
If you kill mesmers copy, then he cant do more copies and go to stealth for next 1min.
IF you hit rogue in stealth, he can’t go in stealth for next 1 min.
If you interrupted engineer when he use KIT, then he can’t switch kits for next 1min.
Warriors will get debuff 20sec weapon swap and no Damage modifiers for next 1 min.
Elementalists can’t change attunement for next 1 min.
NEcromancers can’t in to death-shroud for 1min.
Guardian can’t use utility skills for 1 min.
IMHO that will be fare enough and other classes will understand in what state rangers now and why they are not in meta atm.

IMHO on WvW Trapper runes is what you always want to use.
If you want to output MAX dps on encounters, then these weapon setup are bad, and you should use Sinester.
If these build for casual PVE Events, then you can take whatever you want… even Tough/Vit/Healing power gear ad you’ll still get loot from mobs and get Gold from events.
SB has less physical damage output than Axe and Less condition amage than Axe/Torch
So A/T are better in both parts than SB condi abd Physical.
All it is is number of attacks per 10 seconds or 30 seconds, normalized to 1 second. I left out the gory details, but it’s pretty much the same as what you’re doing to to calculate damage during a skill rotation. You take that damage and divide by the rotation’s length in seconds, and you get DPS. I just took the number of attacks during that rotation, divided by the length in seconds, and got atk/sec.
Your math is wrong. Don’t calculate on paper. Just try PRACTICE.
Practice show me that IF i take off ALL sigils that trigger Bleed and leave ONLY SE as bleed trigger and i did NOT used Splitblade at all, then i can keep up 1900-3400 Bleed/tick in FOTM on bosses, and i specially used Hawk(not cat) to not apply aditional bleed from any skills.
So, it CAN’T be 300dps trait as you have sayed… So 300DPS and 2600Averge DPS is a bit differen nubmer. and if add Splitblade ti these rotation, then it will become only MORE powerful.
And about pet’s Bleed. Why noone counting it?
Allmost all say, that noneed to count pet’s bleed… it has no base condition damaga etc…

You have to count, that pet will have 95% of time 22-25 stacks of might.
imho. Trait in to traps don’t worth it if compare, that BleedOnCrit will do additional good dps, because it has no ICD (on some bosses bleed tick goes up to 7k) without it, it goes up to 2k.
bleedOnCrit can trigger from every pulse of FireTrap and up to 5 times from 1 threw Axe2.
I has same mechanics as StaticField or guardians wall from staff, so it’s working as intended.

All depends on your playStyle.
If you want to be BunkerPointHolder, then you have to chose condi gear.
If you want to be deadly killing machine, then you have to chose zerker.

I play condi… but sometimes it’s better to make fast 7-10k physical damage, than 3 min-5 min fight against Ele with “Diamond skin” trait or against cele shout/ham/bow warrior.
Why Geomancy? Earf is better.
It’s not. “Earth” give you 1 stack of bleed each 2-4sec for 5sec only.
Geo Apply 3stacks of bleed AOE on each target for 10sec every weapon swap.
I’m thinking that Flame Trap is the only one worth taking now, meaning I can drop Trappers Expertise for Sharpened Edges. But I also want to drop spotter for hidden barbs then too heh.
Venom trap are awesome also.
Doing up to 5k venom damage/tick under full might, stacks+dagger4 with really low CD

And that mean, that if you chose traps, then you’ll never take SB, it’s almost doing no damage. These is only trait (Sharpened Edges) that dong SB little bit valuable choice, but you can’t take it with traps.
They BOTH should work together. Only reason why traps should do damage on pulse(really low damage) is that they have to Crit and apply onCrit effect(Sharpened Edges).

Traps or condiOnCrit is worst choice ever! That mean, that if you chose traps, then Rabbid gear are 100% useless for you and if you chose bleed on crit, then you should not take traps anymore.

If to be honest dps output in these build – awafull.
Trap ranger with Toughness/HealingPower/Condi hear will output 2-4 times more damage, more surv and will heal ally much more than shout ranger.
When you fight against 3 ppl on spot, you made about 300-600 damage on each person… it’s… notheing.
Trap ranger will land 2 traps and boneFire and you will hit them in 2 sec for about 3-7k condition damage in sec.
Just try trapper ranger

True, but Necro sceptre does pretty much no physical damage. Ranger SBow with cele/zerk can physically hit for a decent amount to be viable for both those stat combos
Just try scepter with berserker gear and you’ll see that it make almost same damage kitten

Scepter damage (noCrit) 367 367 524 Math = (367+367+524) / 3 = 419.33333
Same attack speed with same gear.
So it do even more PHYSICAL damage than rangers ShortBow!

You have to look their streams.
They don’t play ranger at all.
They play Meditation guardians, HamBow warriors, Shatter Mesmers, Cele/Condi Elem, but not rangers.
if you want to add 1tick of bleed from flanking strike you have to gather +33% cndition duration MINIMUM.
ATM it will add NOTHING for your short bow.
It’s real shame to make such bad weapon. To compare it for example with necromancer.
Scepter has faster auto-attack and if compare it with SB it has MORE physical DPS output with same distance and with no flight w8.
In additional it no need flanking to apply bleed and it apply it for 10sec not 3 sec.
