A stunning lack of new weapons/armor skins. I guess that forces us to buy outfits and key’s after paying $50 for an expansion to get a new look.
I just did a very quick count up over on Dulfy where all the new stuff gets announced – in 5 weeks there has been(ish!):
4 BL weapon sets
7 Mini
3 outfit
2 appearance bundles ( weapon skin, outfit, mini etc)
3 backpack
3 glider
1 upgrade
If you arnt in a Guild Hot has brought 2 armor sets 4 Halloween weapon skins and 1 shoulder skin ( that’s very hard to get) and if you started Hot late like me even getting those 2 armor sets is pretty tough…
It just doesn’t feel ‘reasonable’ they arnt starving for cash – they just had the biggest cash injection they have had in 3 years.
You missed one that as its the reason im currently sat on the forums I will contribute:
Reward System + DC penalties – I just spent 50 mins in DS doing the Meta – this is the first time in over a week that my play time has coincided with a DS Meta ( or any Meta tbh) I got kicked for all of 10 SECONDS – in that time my 180% input gone and another wasted 10 minutes trying to get back to my squad.
If the reward system wasn’t so utterly shamefully tight fisted, maybe I would have just thought ‘never mind’ but as my continuing contribution is the only thing making those meagre rewards slightly better I now just feel like ive wasted 50 minutes. Incidentally in that 10 minutes we were swapped from ‘dead’ maps 3 times sos Mega servers still arnt working right.
This of course ties in to the OP’s comments on casual gaming – I should NOT have to log into the game for 3 nights running only to find theres nothing to do as all maps are Meta maps and ive missed the Taxi opportunity to get onto one.
This has always totally ground my gears aswell.
THIS is the supposed official communication point for GW2- a year or so ago there was some sort of massive tech hitch and the game was down for sometime – the first all the hundreds of people heard about a possible solution was from some guy who had just been in Reddit, nothing on anything formal just a reddit post and FB post – another time there was some sort of bug issue that we only heard from by another forum poster who had had to TRANSLATE the Portuguese Anet FB comment into English and post on the forums.
I don’t give a rats kitten where you ‘prefer’ to post – have some professionalism.
I don’t think its the Hero points that are the problem…
Its the Meta centric Map designs and the fact those Meta’s are on a timer, unlike SW where a few people could mosey around for abit doing events or other achievments and eventually even those maps would organically start the Meta in their OWN time.
Thanks for this,
its all great but im still at a loss as to a basic armor combo to set foot in HoT – I don’t want to use the new armor stats yet until im more familiar with the class – I took my Engineer in with Zerkers and 2 pieces Knights armor 2 knights/soldiers trinkets and she seemed to survive but she is medium armor with speedy kits.
Do I get 4 pieces Zerker gear then cover defensive with soldiers?
OK ive found where everyone is – Dragons Stand.
wandered in last night to a new map – normally I would be trying to find a map in LFG which would then fall apart half way through the meta ot the terrible meta map system would close a populated map but here? Three commanders sitting waiting – herding us scrubs through with the minimum of grief, bugs and rage quits.
Now either that’s because its the last map and that will also be dead soon or its because its actually a manageable, fairly easy to PUG massive open world experience – I hate the map closure at the end of the meta as i like to wander around maps, but tbh this one appears the most cohesive and satisfying -
I still think co opting the dry top mechanic into EVERY HoT map with enforced Meta or gtfo is a terrible design that will hopefully bite back at the developers at some point, but its the first time since starting HoT that I managed to9 complete a Meta and actually enjoy it.
Ive had a Mesmer sitting around since I got the game in 2012 and have completely forgotten how to play her but heard Chronomancer is so much fun ive decided to make her my first Alt through HoT…
Could anyone point me towards anything about armor stats and specializions or give some tips? ive got the mats to craft some exotic gear and can get hold of some ascended trinkets – I was thinking I would need to mix in some defensive stats what would be best and how many pieces?
Also which trait lines are best for getting through Maguuma in one piece? I cant spec Chrono yet.
Happy to try different play styles depending on the traits, I didn’t really try that much when I levelled her before, but I prefer to be ranged and not very glass canon
Thanks!
It’s horrible
- not the look of it but the Meta ive yet to see complete, though this is only my second chunk of time to do a couple of Meta’s its also difficult as hell to get around – it took me far longer than I want to admit to find the Dragons passage WP – on a weekend when it should be busy.
In comparison I got into DS the first time today and failed one Meta but got through it fine the second time, AB I got on the second go aswell – TD and DS Meta’s just seem much harder all round, and ive been trained from when I played WoW to have maps of increasing difficulty so it seems strange to me.
‘Building hype with little to no pertinent information with which to make an informed decision? That is sort of the point… when you’re trying to con someone.’
THIS. - I read pretty much everything – I did NOT watch the hours and hours of twitch streams because frankly I should be able to get enough info without it becoming a second job.
I feel like ive been professionally Grifted – and lets be honest design decisions are PURELY being made by the economist at this point – this world is actually less forgiving on time/reward than many places in the REAL WORLD – and that’s after a worldwide economic breakdown that almost killed the banking system.
- and creating a map wide system that relies on large populations to even be able to play on that Map is the most gargantuan kitten up of project management ive ever seen in gaming.
I remember playing Burning Crusade in WoW – there was a similar ‘split’ in player attention to HoT where you need masteries on the old world as well as the new maps and the new Draeni race in BC that many people decided to level in the old world first – I stepped into the new max level maps 2 weeks after launch – BEFORE the introduction of mega servers.
And yet those maps were full, even if they hadn’t been the content was manageable everywhere other than dungeons as a solo player. In HoT 2 weeks after launch when I stared playing the new maps – ive yet to see a completed Auric Basin – 9/10 VB maps ive been on have failed ( even the ones where we had tier 4 day) Ive popped into Tangled Depths and the Meta wasn’t even started while I was there after swapping maps a couple of times.
The raids in BC created a scenario where access to gear to be able to raid was pretty easy – even if you didn’t have it redundancies in the skill level meant EVERY raid could afford to bring in 1 or 2 Alts, Guild scrubs, or complete randoms who hadn’t been there before. – in Hot? less than 48 hours after Raid launch group search is insisting on experience – a very specific armor stat that is new in HoT and ascended armor ( the recipes for which have just had their mats increased)
Its BEYOND ridiculous. So not only are you out of luck if your game time isn’t synchronised to the HoT maps Meta’s – even if they are you are unlikely to find a good map less than 28 days after launch – and those maps are purely geared towards a Meat requiring heavy group work. So the maps are dead – lets go Raid instead right?
Probably not looking at the requirements in group search…and its not even as if ONE DAY you could try them when you outgear the place from all that dungeon gear you acquired.
There is literally one game mode that works right now – Raids and most people are blocked from playing them.
Hey Tym,
Im with you on his – I started HoT at the beginning of week 3 after release and yet even already despite the entire Map mechanics of HoT coercing you into needing groups the maps are empty, I have no idea how they are going to sustain this XP – who is going to be buying HoT in the New Year knowing this?
People here seem to think it IS soloable and maybe if you are geared up to the teeth in a none squishy proff with a shed load of excess teenage energy to invest on having to be Raid style focused just to mosey around a map then yes – but lets be honest – most of us are over 20, have jobs, commitments and do NOT want to have to be totally ‘on’ at all times – there should have been at least 1 relaxed map.
Here is a Reddit thread from some really nice guy who tried to make people like us have an easier time…

I think the thing is to get Gliding 1 asap – ive only been in Verdant Brink a couple of times – the game and story seemed to be sending me down the ramp into Meta events I couldn’t do without gliding or West which I couldn’t get too either, I was about to log out miffed then decided to go North to the Itzel(?) camp in the canopy immediately came across some much easier events and after 4 had enough XP for Gliding 1 – still haven’t made it West as im a terrible Glider but that seems to be the place to start.
But yes it did feel frustrating to be IMMEDIATELY blocked from content – there was a tagged Comm waiting there that I couldn’t follow because he warned us no one without gliding could – I think they could have gone much easier for the first part
I think people who haven’t played it the year before may not know the ‘etiquette’ but it can be kind of funny – last night we got to the place where the Viscount Candy Corn spawns – he arrived someone opened the two doors that were also there then the Horror turned up…
Fun times! lol
Zaklex.6308:
You were not expected to be playing through HoT the first time with the Elite Spec, it was expected that you would use your Elite Spec on a second play through.
I really wouldn’t want to rely on you making the correct pick in a line up.
Im a filthy Casual and a directionally challenged one at that ( so vertical maps full of dead ends is hell for me) – I haven’t set foot in the Jungle yet because the horror stories of the first couple of days just put me off. Megaserver issues doesn’t help…
I don’t want to die a.l.l.t.h.e.t.i.m.e
I going to give it a go tomorrow though – can anyone suggest bests stats for beefing myself up? Im taking in an Engineer and Ele was thinking of swapping out to defensive stats in a couple of armor pieces and rings etc – Knights for engineer?
They got it wrong when they decided to stop giving Influence /Favor for normal gameplay around the world as far as im concerned.
I didn’t mean this thread as some sort of Gold Farmers Treatise – im just a lower Middle Class Player in terms of Gold Levels.
I just wanted to point out some facts – facts that in the deluge of information, complaints, counter complaints and game changes may not become apparent straight away – I couldn’t play HoT for the first few days due to excessive lag so it stood out to me.
You shouldn’t need to nerf Vanilla Gameplay to make HoT attractive, HoT if you are going to charge £35 should stand on its own without social engineering…

What this has reminded me is to ALWAYS listen to my Gut.
If my Gut is saying ’Rococo this is just a fancy LS3 reskin ’
or’ why do they need to take all the rewards away from the rest of the game to make HoT attractive to play?’
or ‘Traits Thread #never forget’
Then to save face its best to not hand cash to money grubbing Bookah’s
Surprised there is less comment on this to be honest – I mean I know HoT has a lot of issues but we just had a good chunk of rewards REMOVED from the game.
I guess its the same as those in Government burying bad news under a bigger news story – well played Anet – well played.
Ive noticed a pattern that’s such a blatant reward nerf across the ENTIRE Game in contrast with gem store designers knocking out item after item ( for a cost) that im even less motivated to start HoT than before especially with the time heavy gating mechanics.
1. Dungeons rewards nerfed – by a lot – people told to chill because Fractals are the new Dungeons. – Except that Fractals have been nerfed aswell unless you get the Fractal Mastery just to get the rewards you got BEFORE.
2. EotM rewards nerfed – by a lot – people told to chill because WvW always had bad rewards and now they arnt because EofM has been nerfed down rather than WvW being boosted up! – Incidentally the xp in WvW appears to have been nerfed possibly bags too and liquid xp has gone. The maps are too big and Borderlands is a ghost town.
3. Festivals/events – everyone knows about the Modrem event giving such skimpy currency for such a large time input and coming up against unrealistic prices for items – Halloween is actually almost as bad – only people that have played all previous years will notice and even then they may not but -you can NO LONGER use chattering skulls/nougat that drop in large numbers to buy anything – ALL of the items which now require only candy corn to buy have had their prices inflated from last year – Carlotta pet is at least 3 times the price it was, personalised bags that dropped some of these rare items no longer given out, the items that do drop in the ToT seems to have a very low drop rate. And of course the ‘unfortunate’ ‘bug’ that stops mastery acquisition in Halloween.
4. Salvaging – this looks fairly benign initially, you will be getting less mats from each salvage – but then start thinking about the constant push to allow less and less items actually drop from mobs which completely negates magic find, add in that champ bag farming is one of the few ways to make cash should you need to buy something and suddenly those bags are worth a lot less and the time you spent doing at aswell.
5. Pvp – A smaller issue but when you realise that transmutes can only be bought from the Gem shop if they arnt on tracks anymore…..
5. XP and Progression mechanics – yes I know these arnt rewards – neither should they be but in Hot they have artificially be turned into them – and then promptly ‘nerfed’ by requiring extended grinds of it to access CORE gameplay. Every poart of the gamem as far as I can tell in the last few weeks has been subject to XP nerf – you simply don’t get what you used to and in Hot are blocked from content.
6. Guilds – large guilds arnt as much affected ( apart from the obvious gold sink and gating) small guilds? you are pretty much kittened – many of your upgrades have been taken off you only for you to ‘re earn’ – through a gold and resources grind.
Think about that – you now have to do double or triple the work you did several years ago to get the same rewards or less rewards! – for OLD content – and cant access new content without hitting pay walls or grind walls.
You now have things that you have EARNED in the game taken away from you – Guilds lost a lot of utility for a new mechanic that many small guilds cant even access, Traits was the same all those tomes a waste of gold etc etc.
I can see the argument of creating scarcity for big ticket items like the Ghastly shield ( for a time), but the rest is unacceptable when you notice than in the 3 days since launch they are putting out new outfits, weapons ‘boosters’ – because lets face it you are going to need them now everything has been nerfed…who has the absolute lack of tact to start advertising Gem items when everything has been nerfed in the game int eh space of a couple of weeks?
Ive never seem such a blatant cash grab across ALL aspects of a game – GW2 design appears to be being controlled by some Neo Con Economics Loon – you just got a MASSIVE cash injection be respectful Anet and stop putting all your resourses into finding nefarious skinner boxes to get even more cash out of people or making the game increasingly hard to get any rewards from forcing you into getting ‘help’ through the Gem store.
The thing is they no longer show in the Dye panel…if they are coming ‘soon’ ( lol) then why take them out of the panel?
Im wracking my brain and in 6 years of playing the ‘other’ game I cannot recall them making items harder to get over time or nerfing rewards of old game content which is what has happened since HoT
- and yes you are right I mean they just got a massive cash injection with a paid expansion of course money is tight and they have to spend their time pushing out Gem store items to compensate for their lack of revenue streams….wait…
Considering I was just asking about drop rates please don’t turn this into some opportunity to lecture about ‘fun’ when its got nothing to do with the question…
Everyone is saying drops are common and 600 bags later I haven’t got anything drop other than teeth, skulls, etc which incidentally you cant even spend at the vendor this year – so you can now only upgrade them if you want to make the very rare weapons with Gifts.
And no Dyes either…and the personalised ToT bags don’t drop when they used to either – basically I think its been nerfed and I don’t care how much I normally enjoy Halloween – in a world where they are nerfing everything right now in terms of rewards it grinds my gears.
So what happened to them? they weer showing up in the Dye list on my character for a couple of weeks – now they are missing , there is none in the TP and I cant find a word about it?
•Lunatic Yellow
•Psychotic Orange
•Delirious Purple
•Maniac Brown
•Crushed Bone
•Insanity Red
It seemed last year the vendors would sell you stuff for them. This year they only seem to accept candy corn.
Yes you could and really if they arnt going to allow us any other way to spend them than upgrading them into ten of the item needed to make a Gift to craft weapons (so 10,000 of each type) then they needed to downgrade their importance in the loot table – im sitting on a gazillion of these for just under a year presuming I would be able to buy stuff..
You should be able to get a refund for a NEW product you arnt happy with whatever the nefarious wording /opaque machinations involved in Anet deciding to consider HoT and GW2 one package
- they wernt ONE package when Vets bought it – pretty sure this is covered in the UK with Trading Law and online purchases actually have more legal protection on refunds in many cases
Ok – ive now opened 400 bags and not had anything drop apart from the usual Halloween food, chattering skulls etc – that seems like a lot when drop rates are now supposed to be good?

No one — especially me — is diminishing the thoughts, concerns, and input on this subject being shared by our forum members. But I believe that it is premature to make a comment about “forever” in the context of a game that has been playable for less than 24 hours.
I stand by that, for it is what I believe. I believe that time will give everyone a better view of this situation. The outcome may be that it’s seen that yes, the difficulty is too high. The outcome may be that eventually, the number is seen as reasonable and properly attainable.
I think that all of us — players and developers alike — do not have sufficient information yet to know what the “sweet spot” is. I suggest we allow us — as players and devs — to attain the necessary info to analyze this situation through gameplay and the passage of time. I want to assure you that I don’t mean months and months, either, but some amount of time on which to base an informed opinion.
I say this especially when I see this post:
It been just over 18 hours and I’ve unlocked everything I wanted for my main including the GM I intend to use. Needed one mastery level of gliding and one mastery level of mushroom bounce. Still trying to pick some ‘low-hanging fruit’ Hero Challenges, but basically I’m good to go anywhere.
Day one Dragonhunter. I can live with it. Still need another 90 points for the armor/runes, but I don’t plan to use either so that’s just showing off
.
Im pretty sure the OP was using the term ‘forever’ in the slang parlance meaning longer than I envisaged/planned or wanted to take on a particular thing…
eg ‘Forever is a colloquial exaggeration, understood as “a very long time”.’
‘take forever – to happen very slowly I have an old microwave, the kind that takes forever to boil a cup of water. In rush-hour traffic, it takes forever to get home’
I just don’t think verbal eye rolling about a dramatic turn of phrase negates a valid point..and using one persons comments against another to make your point when the kittens flying is bad form really…
We are very much aware that ArenaNet has added more to the Gem Store over a similar time frame than they have added to HoT, skin-wise. This clearly shows ArenaNet’s priorities.
Yeah. If they are only putting in 3 sets for each armor weight, then start the expac by selling an outfit, then it’s all about priorities. It’s pretty frustrating when they talk about paying for gem store items to fuel the gem store, then when a full priced expac comes out, they add almost nothing.
I felt trolled when I saw this on Dulfy – I mean for kittens sake couldn’t they lock the sticky fingered Economists in a room for just a week or so before they start trying to grab MORE money?!
Its like – ‘hey guys we arnt making armor for the Gem store any more armor gaining as ALL about normal game play’
2 years later ’ err can we have more than 3 armor choices please? ive just seen the 30th outfit advertised in the store…’

Im with you Cygnus – I have a friend whose default response to most complaints is to ridicule the complaints thinking it will ‘diffuse the tension’ – that’s best done a long time after when everyone can actually laugh about it!
Im still salty about Traits…

The mastery system as only been available for 15 hours. Your complaining about it being forever is just pure over dramatization. Congratulations on being awarded the William Shatner award for dramatic excellence.
First, thank you for saying, in your first sentence, my very thoughts: “It’s been less than 16 hours, and that’s ’forever?” Secondly, thanks for a smile. I’d love to see the statue that goes with that award.
I know you’re just trying to inject some levity, but in a thread full of unhappy players, a response like that is like a drunken Facebook post – if players still feel the same way a week from now, two weeks from now, about this system, you’ll never live that kind of flippancy down in the community.
First rule of dealing with complaints – you can acknowledge how a person feels about something without agreeing with them. Try it, you’ll get people on side.
I think Gaile does a grand job most of the time of what is frankly a thankless task of listening to and appeasing two groups who want different things whilst having to answer to the third who pays her rent – but I saw this type of thing before in the Traits thread and its really soured me after months of patiently calling out issues – I only hope peoples unhappiness with this is not going to be a repeat of that debacle.
Myself – ive read around, ive not been able to play today because of lag and it seems that slow though it will be my best bet is to gather enough Hero points in WvW then move into the Jungle only when I have enough to at least be able to move around the map with Glider and Mushroom help as vertical maps tied to content blocks dependant on hero points locked within said maps is a total turn off to me.
People should be able to move around without having to cover most of the expansions maps to be able to become the spec they want to play as – crikey even WoW wouldn’t pull this sort of rubbish.
I decided to avoid HoT for a few days and spend some time on Halloween but im starting to wonder is there any point for Vets?
I already did all the achievs in previous years and spendt some time in the Lab and nothing new dropped after opening 200 bags – just the usual rubbish so im presuming the drop rate is rough, I recall getting personalised bags with better drop rates from the Lab bosses last year – this seems to have stopped.
Frankly having opened all my stashed SW champ bags last night the thought of farming and opening tonnes of bags for the slight chance of new items makes me lose the will to live – ive aslo heard the old pvp style game has gone aswell – am I missing something here? is this event more geared to those who haven’t taken part before?
50 bucks is nothing. I spend more in coffee in a month.
I really wish people would stop being so dismissive of another persons concept of ‘expensive’
Many people DONT spend £40 a month on Coffee because they are too busy making sure they can pay their energy bills on time…learn a little empathy
What if the game had a monthly subscription?
It has been about 270 days since the expansion was announced. If someone started saving at that point, they would only need to save about 19 cents a day.
It’s been about 127 days since they announced the price. You would only need to save about 40 cents per day.
Your fallacious comments don’t have anything to do with me calling out someone behaving in a condescending way….many many reasons for not saving their19c a day for example wanting to se if the content is what they really want because they are – poor??
Actually scrap that – if you are on here trying to defend someones bad behaviour with Maths you obviously don’t get it.
‘Guild Stash will be auto unlocked from the Notary
Guild Treasure Trove will be auto unlocked from the Market.
Deep Cave will be auto unlocked from the Market.’
Hmm – so the first 50 slots in Guild stash are available as you clarified that those without a Guild Hall can ONLY access the Notary – what about the rest? Or is it thast ALL Guild bank upgrades are grandfathered in and available through the Notary.
To be clear – many of us just don’t want to stump up the 100G for a Guild Hall – so this is an issue…

No company should be letting its customers get clarification on something so important to their new product only 48 hours before the product ships. If they only knew about it 48 hours before launch that just shows unproffessional tardiness – if they did know and kept it back only to ignore the response that shows wilful manipulations of perceptions for extra sales.
Hell im just a very casual casual it doesn’t even really affect me as I will pootle around regardless but its a terrible strategy and they keep doing it over and over again – Traits and pre purchase character slot im looking at you…
Elites were never considered to be ‘progression’ systems – that was Masteries – Elites were supposed to be an ALTERNATIVE game play spec – you don’t block access to them behind completing the entire vanilla spec.
Can I please have an answer on these ’ Guild Effects Slot’ because ive been asking and checking everywhere I can and im not stumping up another 40 gold to get what I want in the Politics track if its worth nothing – if its gone just clarify…if its not
– is it still grandfathered in?
- can you access without Guild Hall?

‘Having us use HP to unlock the Elite Specs is just fine, but couldn’t we at least have had a lower required number (say 200-250?) with a quest/collection/task or some sort that’s relevant to the Elite Spec?’
They so missed a trick here – changing to elite specs should be an individual process for each class – I did the Warlock class spec in WOW before they simplified it and it was Epic…
Sabaru,
I also bought HoT last night, its being delivered in the a.m -this was in the announcement posted ages ago…
‘For all players who registered the core Guild Wars 2® game prior to January 23, 2015 and who upgrade their account by prepurchasing and registering any Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns edition before Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns‘ launch, we will add one additional character slot to your Guild Wars 2 account.’
So as far as im concerned everyone who installs and links to their account before the official xp release time gets the slot – they apparently give out new slots each Friday so we should get ours this Friday.
While im here though I have to voice my displeasure at being gently coerced into pre purchase for the character slot that should have been given with every purchase due to the new class, and im still salty that I cant get a free GW2 Vanilla account seeing as GW2 and HoT are now the SAME product.
I hung onto to the last minute so my paltry and late stage purchase would if they are following late sales trends show they could have done better in the lead up and to give them 0.0000001p less profit in pre purchase interest lol
Hi Seth,
ive read that post – its the one I based building upgrades before HoT arrived on – so to clarify
‘The broad category of guild boosts—upgrades that give a benefit to guild members for a limited period of time—felt invisible and unengaging to the average guild member. We’re replacing these with permanent unlocks’
This is all the timed boosts in the Politics and Economy sections like 24 hours 15% karma boost?
These if already acquired will be grandfathered in?
These will be available to any Guild even of they don’t have a Guild Hall?
Ive been talking about the bag nerf elsewhere not realising there was a more ‘official’ thread here – I don’t think they can randomise level specific mats across ALL different level loot bags, so as far as im concerned the ‘linen’ issue still remains – all they will be doing is reducing the same level leather for a little more cloth.
More importantly it represents a obvious overall Loot bag nerf – you will not be getting as much from your salvages of your crappy blue and green bag drop as before…
Everything that could accrue Gold seems to being nerfed lately and in a game that is already so incredibly tight fisted with decent loot drops im finding it off putting -when even the skinner box #cough# loot boxes are getting nerfed into the ground subs to WoW start looking attractive again…
I cant speculate Astral, I don’t play the TP im just a natural pack rat hoping to get some decent drops to supplement my miserly income. But thanks for the tip…
I asked this ages ago and didn’t find out the answer – the 24/48 hour buffs were supposed to be being transfered into to paraphrase – a Guild ‘slot’ that you could move any one of these buffs into permanatly until you replaced it with something else – Guilds with these upgrades would get the slot ability grandfathered in.
Is this still the case? what about Guilds with these buffs availabale to them now that arnt intending to get a Guild Hall – will they be able to access them aswell?
I asked about it in this very thread already, but it seems that the design changed since then and those buffs aren’t getting transfered into new system in any form.
Not shooting the messenger here but Seriously?? They are letting us know with only a week to go that 24/48 hour buffs are now going? AFTER ive spent a fair amount of Gold on boosting my Guild up from no upgrades to several levels up?
Now im kittened. Could this be confirmed? they will still talking last week about this Guild ‘slot’ that would contain timed buffs…
No – I didn’t miss the rest of the blog post I just posted and quoted the salient points – regardless…
‘“Some of these changes will reduce output to help us maintain scarcity,’ still means those 2 blues and a green will now net you even less gold than they did before – because this isn’t a straight – replace kittene cheapo mats with those more in demand because only SOME mat salvages will be rebalanced and also salvage drops will still remain level dependant – to deal with the issue of hardly any linen requires giving linen to higher armor/weapon level salvages and I doubt that’s going to happen
…Scarcity of salvage mats is because hardly anyone has many low level characters and it isn’t like WoW where you could just take your Vet to Hinterlands and knock everything out for those level mats…
Bottom line they will be reducing the amount of mats you get in many cases and even when they are replacing cheap mats with hose more in demand the end price will lower on the TP – so you will still be getting LESS over all out of salvaging those loot bags – that’s my take home from it and I don’t like it one bit.

I didn’t know about this nerf – I doubt many people do and now ive read it as someone who is sitting on a lot of champ bags and quietly levelling a character to level 53 I feel really hacked off..
‘Despite keeping a heavy sink of materials in the new endgame weapon journeys, the changes were nowhere close to balancing the current numbers . To help get us closer to where we want to be, we’ll simultaneously roll out changes to the salvaging of some materials’
Have I actually got this right? the well known pretty rubbish loot drops in this game are actually going to be nerfed? as if 2 blues and green wasn’t bad enough they are now going to salvage into less sellable mats because thewy think we need more scarcity?
Why arnt people seeing the potential here that drops are going to be even worse? why arnt people getting annoyed? have I missed something here?!
Yeah I know there is bank access but there is very little definitive info beyond that – I don’t see why it has to be shrouded in secrecy – even large guilds want to know if they should offload their influence…
Im irked this Q regarding blooms as future currency and access to the rewards in future events was never answered – the event was a cluster kitten
- especially for people like me who had the sanity to walk away from the event the first 24 hours – PRESUMING a day would be tagged on as that would be the decent thing to do….
Ive scoured much of what I think is available about Guilds in HOT but there seems to be significant gaps – especially if you have a very small Guild.
Im in a very small Guild that wont be trying to get a Hall and a solo Guild, among others – the small Guild has upgrades that include bank, banners and timed buffs like Magic find for 3 days. The solo just has bank space.
They have mentioned ‘some’ upgrades going to a ‘slot’ that you can switch in and out – what upgrades are these?
Are these ‘slots’ available without a Guild Hall?
Exactly which upgrades are being ‘grandfathered’ in?
Should I spend some gold now to upgrade say Economy to level 4 so I can get access to 15% karma?
There just seems to be nothing definitive around and I don’t want to drop 40 gold on upgrades if I will never be able to access them not having a guild hall.
Ive also noticed some mention of anything accessed outside a Hall will cost Gold – does that mean bank access? upgrades grandfathered in? Im confused!!!
I imagine there are plenty of small Guilds that wont have one either so I think a post on exactly what the score is for Hall-less Guilds would be useful…
Can someone put me out of my misery? the search facility being what it is….
im sure I heard somewhere that wvw token armour is becoming salvageable? Im considering getting some of the skins alongside karma gear as I have a surplus of both currency. But I don’t know if I should wait until HOT or if any wvw gear reverts to salvageable after a certain date?
Also ive found a kitten load of unidentifiable dyes on a mule I never really log onto – it must have been when they made dyes account bound – I have almost no master or rare Dyes – should I sell these and buy the dyes I like ( and I like some quite expensive dyes like enamelled) or use them myself?
Full Disclosure – I have the worst RNG. Thanks!
