Flame trap goes from good to amazing against enemies that don’t bother to avoid AoEs.
I’d like this, so long as there’s some room between them if I want to get a screen of just one at a time. Though I predict issues if people buy up 24 slots and then want to see everyone at once …
Simple solutions to these:
A) Have the option between single, or “family portrait” style. Just a small tab would do.
B) Have some characters in the back row if there are too many characters, akin to the school pictures we all dread.

According to Jon Peters in the mists a few hours ago:
- The profession part of the upcoming patch notes is roughly 5 pages long.
- ~16 bullet points for rangers.
- ~30 bullet points for engis.
- Mesmers saw the fewest number of changes.
- “Tons” of bug fixes.
- “Some” balance changes.
- Portal is a cool ability that’s important to the game but has some problems (whatever that means from their perspective idk).
- The ability to use custom dyes in pvp is possibly coming in a December patch.
- Broken treb and lord announcements should be fixed soon.
- Target of target and player cast bars are low priority but something they might look at in the future.
- Probably no hope of ever letting us disable the terrible skill queue.
- Custom rankings, obs mode, etc. all “on the way” (as usual).—
All in all, I think it’s pretty decent depending on what exactly gets fixed.
Protection, Aegis, Invulnerability abilities, CCs, Evasion.
Ironically, the class with the most limited access to these is the thief himself, so going thief to counter backstab thieves is just about the worst decision you can make.
i am sorry to say, but a condition thief as myself 3.2-3.3k armor and 16k hp eats bs thieves easy. (unless you are not an idiot ofc)
at the worst outcome is that he stealths in low hp and he escapes….
also the forge (and to a lesser extent earth) set is REALLY nice against a surprise even if you are daydreaming.
I never said it was impossible, or even that hard for a thief to beat a backstab thief. I just said that they tend to have it harder than other classes.
I’m amazed, someone who actually didn’t come in and complain that “OMG BROKEN CHEAT HAX”. I wish more people were like this, calm and tried to find a solution to the problem. :x
Good luck OP, hopefully you wont have to suffer this issue for long (15th nov patch might fix). There’s another bug that if you use some stealth skill it wont work. Rather, you’ll get revelead debuff without even attacking or going stealth, wasting an entire ultility skill. But that you won’t see any complaining topic :/
I think that’s because just about everything, sensible or not, will cause you to be revealed.
If I use clusterbomb on a far away target, then hide in shadows afterwards, I get revealed because an arrow I shot before I stealthed hit an enemy. Even worse is when you set up a radiation field as an Asuran, only for someone to walk into it 15 seconds after you’ve placed it down, and reveal you.
a lv80 thief will have 13-18k health, depending on the build.
a lv80 warrior can pass the 30k health mark.
different classes, different base stats.
Actually, thieves can get as low as 10k.
It confirms that the developers recognize the ranger has issues, and are working on them. You want patchnotes? Wait 5 days and see them for yourself.
Every class is getting changes, with Mesmers having the fewest bullet points, and Engies the most.
For all you know Eles are getting the second most.
Stun-breakers are a godsend, and caltrops are decimating in PvE.
Confirmation can be found here.

Be sure to search around the forums in the future before posting a thread.
It’s the same for all invisibility, and its a bug tied to the engine. Not your graphics card
Note that during that 1-2 seconds of “extended” invisibility, you can still target the thief using the tab button.
No one is going to consider your suggested changes when your thread title is “Is this not broken?” on a topic that we already have 20 other threads on.
“D/D doesn’t have the damage I need. That’s why I go P/P.”
How “smart” are these bots exactly? What are they doing? Just killing random mobs or actual players? Protecting doylaks?
Just curious because if a person really thinks there bots would do a better job than an actual human body than that’s just sad.
They take up player slots in WvW and cause gold inflation. No one wants to lose a match because half their players are bots killing pointless mobs.

“Maining” a certain class doesn’t mean you don’t play other classes, or learn how they function and play.
The only trait that boosts Thief’s endurance is Feline Grace which will all them to do 2 dodge rolls then one more after a brief pause before having to wait as long as everyone else to dodge. (Signet of Agility (on active) and Wild Strike refill it too but are far from granting inifinite endurance) If you want a class that has a lot of endurance, check out Ele’s traits. (Also Ranger and Engie can recover endurance at 50% faster.)
As for the cooldown thing. Look at my breakdown on initiative and cooldowns.
We’ve also got a utility skill that refills our endurance, but it rarely sees use.

If you are having trouble being crowd controlled in the jumping puzzle take stability and fight back but then again if you were willing to do that i guess you wouldn’t be a carebear and be complaining about pvp in a pvp zone.
To be fair “taking stability” isn’t a viable option for many classes.
In all honesty, I’d love to see a gamemode something like what the WvW jumping puzzles end up being. One team needing to get to the “finish line”, while constantly having to outwit their opponents traps, and tricks.
It’s a lot of fun if it’s what you’re looking for, but when you’re just trying to get a chest full of badges, it can come off as frustrating, and a waste of EB player slots.
I think WvW in general is full of half a billion “unfair” tactics.
Never had that problem before. Do you have it on auto-attack?
Thief- Best Skrimisher. While his durability is questionable at best, they can be amazing at moving in, doing damage, and then retreating before the enemy knows what’s going on. Having them in the pre-cursor to a major push can heavily soften the enemy, especially with dagger storm.
Mesmer- Best utility. Already said before, portal, null field, etc.
Warrior/Ranger Best atop the wall defenders. 1500 makes a much bigger difference when 600 of that is the wall downwards.
Guardian- Group protection, and pushing
Ele- Siege buster
Necro: I dunno, haven’t looked close enough at the class
Engie: Offensive siege support. Great at creating an area that’s comparatively safe with healing turret regen, med kits, and turrets galore.
Gotta go fast. What can I say?
I’m pretty sure:
1. you damage your gears when you die falling
2. you still get drops/exp/achievement after doing decent damage even if they die falling
3. refer to #2
Your gear doesn’t damage from falling to your death, I’m absolutely sure.
You do more damage when you detonate than not, and triple your bleeds. Not to mention more hits = more “on crit” effects.
Any time you’re not in a combo field, you’d have to be crazy not to detonate.
i won’t stand for this, need to spend less time doing wvw stuff and more time in puzzle
But I was having so much fun pranking friendly people with randomly placed knockdown traps!
I’m pretty sure if you’ve tagged the player already, you get drops/exp when they die of fall damage.
Seems the people in the Eternal Battlegrounds jumping puzzle are much friendlier than they were a few days back. I noticed a fairly large number of Maguma, and DH players who didn’t attack on sight there.
Why is stealth stomping an issue when stability stomping is much more powerful?
And rezzing in stealth is safe? Even the worst of players will realize that the enemy’s health steadily increasing means there’s a thief crouched over the body after it happens once or twice. Stealth doesn’t exactly help you much for rezzing when your opponent can see what’s going on, and auto-attack you to death.
The short stature gives an Asuran more access to the “critical hit” area between the legs in a fight.
Clusterbomb does great damage (I don’t have the number on me, sorry).
Unfortunately, its 1200 range is misleading. The arrows have an extremely slow arch to them causing most shots that aren’t to or from high ground, or close range to miss. You also can’t fire a second clusterbomb until the first has detonated, further making it worse at range.
In other words, clusterbomb’s best use is as a large AoE melee weapon, and not for long range power.
I’ll cross my fingers for gryphons with every content patch.
It has a quarter second cast time right now, like always.
Am I missing something here?
I wasn’t even aware of this nerf until now, but I noticed it to be way too easy on my ranger compared to my thief.
It was a great boss before the nerf, and more importantly, it was an amazing precursor to having to play through the final dungeon.
Traps can’t be seen by enemy players.
And they’re both good for ambush, and plopping mid-combat.
Radiation Field is amazing on thieves. If you have 15 into deadly arts, and daggerstorm in the field, every thrown dagger will cause poisoning, and weakness. Not to mention blast finishing clusterbombs, and leaping heartseekers can keep the weakness on for much longer on champions.
and after all this you’re pretty much useless.
Backstabs aren’t useless.
When you’re traited like what you need for this? They pretty much are.
“Hey guys, maybe there’s a thief around that smoke field that keeps reappearing.”
Thieves Guild, and Daggerstorm are great.
The venom is, unfortunately, only good for the cheesy backstab build.
They’re not on the level of mesmer elites, but that’s a high bar to go for.
They’ve got the best combo finishers in the game, and multiple skills that can ensure a rez in PvE.
Bring a shortbow if you’re concerned about lack of group damage.
Anything works, though keep in mind that poison has will be held by enemies in spades late game, and the extra condition removal will help a great deal.
I play mostly shortbow with my only stealth being hide in shadows. I also, never use the berserker’s amulet, and have 30 points into acrobatics in my current build.
So, seems I’m already going by your guidelines and doing much better than when I use the backstab build.
I like to think that all my “trick shots” are poorly aimed arrows that just happen to hit everyone through pure luck, like something out of a Looney Toons cartoon.
Depends on Weapon Set.
I play 90% with Dagger/Dagger.I open up with Steal, 3xDeath Blossom, Heartseeker, Death Blossom, Heartseeker. Then the fight is usually over.
Hope you get my point.
You open up with using 26 initiative, on two different moves that have 0 synergy with each-other?
Thieves usually have an opening combo, but who doesn’t? And past the first few seconds of combat, there’s no real “rotation” at all for thieves.
You can’t see a thief backstab? All of the ways that a thief can stealth are very visible. All you need to do is keep him from getting at your back for 3-4 seconds. Smack him with one CC when he’s nearing you, and the thief’ll be toast.
Teviko, I’m not sure you understand how portal is used in PvP.
The mesmer isn’t the only person going through them. Camping the exit is a great way to find youself in a 1v3+
Axe/Torch, and Sword/Dagger with flame trap, spike trap, and signit of renewal for utilities. The result is being able to easily keep up flames constantly against single targets, and most of the time against groups.
You misunderstand what a skill cap is. Getting the bonus only on evasion makes nothing about evading, or the use of the swiftness more skillful. It only limits the possible uses of it, making it both less useful, and less skillful as you don’t have as many choices to make. (Do I want to use my evades for a quicker getaway, or save them for dodging their attacks?)
