Queen Jennah assassination incoming?

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Rottaran Owain.6789

Rottaran Owain.6789

Just making a point here, but it’s not impossible to have Jennah dead. Keep in mind that Zhaitan is supposed to be dead by the current point in the living story, yet the ENTIRE PERSONAL STORY is about your eventual showdown with it.

Zhaitan being dead or not has no bearing on the living story.

If it did, you can bet at least one NPC in Lion’s Arch would’ve mentioned it during Dragon Bash.

I would be very surprised if you’ve never heard of a Ranger carrying a rifle..

Marksmanship, skirmishing, and wilderness survival, can all fall under the category of a hunter as well. Hunters also use rifles.

A melee staff for the Ranger would be very cool. For the Thief as well!

Military, or modern ranger? Yeah, of course. Ranger who fights with wild animals, spirits, and guns at the same time? No, never.

In the same line of thought, Thieves should never be allowed to use Pistol because BANG BANG is not stealthy.

Eles shouldn’t have daggers because duh, melee and Mesmer 2h Sword cannon makes no sense.

<.<

You’ve never heard of a crook robbing a place at gunpoint? Or wizards carrying daggers for up close and personal self-defense? Really?

For the shown ranger trope in this game, a rifle or pistol would be exceedingly out of place on the class whose notable skills are beast mastery, nature magic, and wilderness survival instincts.

A melee staff would be pretty cool though.

I seriously don’t think the number of people who vote based on how their treated in a mini-game that has no bearing on anything other than the meta achievements is big enough to consider.

I do think, however that the assumption that “Kiel voters are nice and helpful, while Evon voters are a bunch of lone wolfs.” Is a baseless, and poorly thought out.

This is how stealth has always been on thieves. Any non-condition damage you deal will reveal you, no matter which skills were used first. Makes for all sorts of wonderful moments as a thief where you’re revealed by a clusterbomb you shot multiple seconds before stealthing.

Really, it should be changed, but I doubt it’d be easy for them to program.

Another thing to watch out for is projectiles that start channeling before you stealth will track you down as they normally would. Even if the channel has multiple projectiles like your longbow’s rapid fire, it’ll still follow you for every shot.

Of course ANet will cheat. You don’t honestly believe that the players have any real influence on the outcome of this election, do you? The outcome was decided weeks ago. That’s why Facebook’s vote count appears to be so close and why you cannot view the vote count in real time in-game. It’s all a sham meant to draw players into the game to grind for hours upon hours in hopes of deciding the fate of Tyria.

And you guys bought it…hook, link and sinker.

1) There is literally no point in rigging it other than working on the fractals in advance.

2) It’s doubtful that the fractal will be released anywhere near the conclusion of the election, making rigging it completely pointless.

3) The potential for a leak on the election being rigged is exceedingly risky for Arenanet’s reputation. It would be financial suicide if they were caught.

So, high risk, no reward. Yeah, sure.

Also, the black lion trading post held no influence (outside of stocking gem store items) on the living story until this update, so as far as we’re concerned, anything goes with the living story.

I have the same difficulties and deficiencies as you. I still succeeded against the odds because I was determined. Therefore you have no valid argument.

This does not mean as much as you claim. When I got the achievment, there were people camping the spawn point. Getting past these campers was fairly easy because all I really needed to do was run past them while they were distracted by players from another server.

However, at the same time, I have experience with camping the arena with a necro wearing level 25, mostly blue and white gear and keeping multiple people down there with little danger to myself. The only reason those players ever got up was because I stopped doing it after being disgusted with how easy it is.

What does this tell us? Circumstances are everything. Just because you finished while there are campers does not mean it’ll be just as easy for everyone else.

How is it poorly implemented? They quite successfully created a zone where people are encouraged to fight eachother in order to gain a tangible reward. An area that simultaneously causes people who don’t actually want to be involved to consistently subject themselves to the turmoil of the event.

Quite simple really. There’s multiple locations that are such good chokepoints that all real counter-play is lost, and the only real solution to get by is either vastly outnumber your enemy, hope they don’t know where the good chokepoints are or how to use them, or wait for them to leave, and thanks to AoEs being spherical, it’s possible to place CC traps that hit players mid-jump, and thus are impossible to dodge.

Just saying “Devs intended PvP, thus it’s ok” shows ignorance of the fact that PvP experiences can be inherently flawed. In this case, sections like the well and arena are too easily camped with little risk; especially for classes with trap-like AoEs like the ranger, necro and thief. And there are too few options for dealing with these campers.

@Rottaran
Can’t speak for everyone, but using old JPs for new achievements means, someone either already done it and know exactly what to do, or will most likely look for a guide because they are doing it for the achievement not the puzzle solving, so figure out what to do isn’t that important for JP anymore.

I was talking mostly about the crystals to be honest. You’re not using jumping per say, but it’s still the general idea of knowing what’s within your power, planning a route, and executing.

If anything, BoFW exclusive content just give people a huge confident boost to their jumping skill, it doesn’t really teach much of actual JPs(jump boost and lightning pull is way too OP).

Personally, I disagree with this. The most important skill to getting a jumping puzzle done quickly is figuring out how to look at the area itself. The crystals are usually easy enough to spot, but difficult to get to. This, combined with limited uses of the aspects encourages players to start mapping out their routes in their heads before they make their jumps.

can take it as a chance to hone in on your skills or explore more of what your class or the game has to offer : ))

Problem is that there’s several chokes on in the puzzle that make it impossible to advance (without an absurd difference in numbers) while your enemies are using certain tactics.

Just putting you in combat makes scaling the arena impossible for most classes, let alone dealing with the CC hitting you mid-jump.

If the people who camped had to do something challenging, I’d be ok with it, but soloing Arah is easier than a single upleveled staff necro atop the arena.

Either that’s a story made purely out of bull (I’ve never, ever, ever seen it) or you should just not worry about it and get a good laugh out of people wasting their whole day swinging at the air.

Traps and marks. All these campers need to do is wait till their thief/necro/ranger is “in combat”.

get a thief and do it. there are videos on youtube showing ways to go through fully stealthed. or have a mesmer friend try to do it and port you up there, or something to that effect. there are ways to combat the griefing.

How many times does it need to be pointed out that thieves, necromancers, and rangers can place CC traps to make you fall mid-jump? Or that even with swiftness, you can’t clear the arena while in combat? Or that 90% of the puzzle is small, linear platforms that leave no room for avoiding traps and enemies?

As I said before, if the griefer is properly equipped with the right tools and knowledge, you either have to outnumber them, or wait till they’re gone.

Again, the problem with OS is how easy it is to camp. The PvP boils down to “be there first, vastly outnumber them, or hope that they don’t know how to abuse the chokes”.

If it wasn’t so easy for people to kill 10+ enemies with the group of 5 campers in the well, or hold people forever in the arena by hitting them once while they’re climbing, we wouldn’t see so many long winded threads complaining about this.

My suggestion? Making the puzzle less linear would go a long way in allowing for real counter-play by making it harder to hold every route to the top. I doubt arenanet will do it though.

Ranger
Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/ranger/

Now to explain concept – Which means general idea behind Rangers, It is not melee the general idea is you use a longbow and traps. Its in stone written by GW2 people if anyone argues with that, they are wrong.

Practitioners of the dark arts, necromancers summon the dead, wield the power of lost souls, and literally suck the life force from the enemy. Necromancers feed on life force, which they can use to bring allies back from the brink or cheat death itself.

I guess life force isn’t working as intended at all, considering you can’t heal allies with it.

…or maybe cherry-picking flavour text is a bad way to decide intentional class mechanics.

There’s a major difference between fair challenge, and difficulty from poor design. Many spots in the OS make it so that if the campers are decent, you need to vastly outnumber them to get through. Not to mention that not everyone has access to the puzzle to begin with.

The effect is such that for the majority of players, they don’t have the option of “getting through the challenge”, and instead have to continually check back at the puzzle to see if there’s no campers, or the campers happen to be from their server currently.

If there were alternate routes and actual strategies to deal with campers that didn’t rely on them not knowing what they’re doing, you’d see much fewer complaints.

Using two swords is like using two pistols. Looks cool (to some) and uneducated people think you can learn to do it, but it’s just bad and impractical.

And yet the engineer has an effective dual pistol loadout. I don’t even particularly care about dual swords, but telling others they shouldn’t want it because it’s not realistic is painfully silly in a game, especially when other classes can have the same unrealistic loadout.

I snuck past them with stealth, even if you’re the best player in the world, you can’t always predict where someone is in stealth. Believe it or not, people who camp the JP are usually people who prefer trolling over actually fighting, a lot of them are bad players who hide behind the fact that they have a larger group than you.

In fact, there’s several places where you can easily put a trap in between random jumps that will immobilize, stun, chill, or cripple anyone who goes over with no way of avoiding it. Some of which will instantly kill via fall damage any who trigger it.

Honestly, the fact that you think stealth is some sort of catch all in an exceedingly linear jumping puzzle boggles my mind.
