Lack of New SKills

i wasn’t my Sword/sword thief =p….and getting dervish back as a class would also be super bad kitten .

But i’d say a big reason holding A-net back is balance. Releasing a new weapon for a class means 2-5 NEW core skills that may or may not be really really broken when mixed with other weapons sets and builds or could be so bad no one uses it, So the way i see it and this may very well just be me anet will probably have to wait till they can add new weapons to all classes so all classes sorta of become OP/really bad at the same time if that makes sense. This way they can balance everything more effectively because they can compare to other classes who get new weapons and builds ect.

Nerf steal and it will be fine.
90% of the thiefs will ragequit and only the good ones will remain.

Edit: Why steal is op?
– Instant
– Interrupt
– Dmg
– Heal
– Poison
– Teleport
– stolen skill is most times useful (thief, warrior, mesmer, ranger, necro)

Only if you trait for it.

Also Thieves are meant to have super high burst and high mobility but when you catch them in immobilizes/AoE/other abilities you get killed really fast.

Who are these people!?

I missed most of season 1 with the exception of her boss fight and now i play the new living world stuff and who are these four other “Main Characters” in the world story besides you? They seem act like they know me despite me not having played though the missions where we meet them. I enjoy the story in a game and this kinda bugs me having some sort of re-playable introduction mission or something would be cool, just feels like a weird transition going from high ranking Order of whispers agent who killed Zaithan to random hero #345 to go save the world with 4 other people i don’t even know…

This bugging anyone else?

i play D/D or D/P with 2/6/6/0/0 or 2/0/0/6/6 and it works well enough. it certainly isn’t 100% meta or 100% optimal but for having fun whilst having the ability to win i think it’s great. Also i have dabbled in P/P TBH i think it’s fine just use it with D/D, D/P, or S/D (P/P replaces SB for your ranged weapon set) like the above builds it ain’t optimal but it’s cool and it saves you from getting some kitten talk from teammates.

What's wrong with thieves?

I really don’t know how Thieves are perceived to be OP at all. Sure their stealth makes them a little tricky and consequently they have an easier time ganking unaware or lower skill players than most classes, but other than that they are really a bit on the weak side.

Their passive defense is just about worst in game and their unique ‘defensive’ skill works better offensively than it does defensively, which contributes to their ability to gank effectively while being below average to poor at virtually everything else.

When people get dunked by Thieves who know what they are doing. Theives must obvi be OP super broken, i mean c’mon if i lose that means it’s op right? =S

I too will be a Thief to the end, however i do agree that Warriors are a bit too strong not broken but significantly stronger then many of the other classes.

How are you judging strength? If you are using the ability to deal massive damage and survivability, then yeah, they are a bit stronger at the baseline.

However, they are too easy to deny damage and survivability that relative to any given situation, they are on par or even weaker than other classes. For instance, a Warrior vs. a Axe/Horn + Staff Minionmaster Necro — who do you think is stronger?

I Personally haven’t played much Necro. Though like I said Wars are just a bit on the strong end in my experience, though honestly I think both are on the strong end of the spectrum especially in my playing over the past week neither of which feel as “insta win” as they did when I last binge played however I still think that Wars in particular have a bit too much survivability when combo’ed with the large amounts of CC and damage they can output compared to the other classes i have played (which is pretty much every one but necro)

In my experience i find that D/P and SB work in 80% of scenarios, that or S/D and SB are prolly the closest things you can get to a jack of all trades build

Though the build is usually considered a “No skill” build by random hot-join people, it’s great for burning down bunkers and assassinating glass cannons. it’s only real draw back is lack of stealth and mobility, and as a result you’ll need some skills to get around it especially when there are multiple people and not just one target or agains poeple who know how to counter it.

Warriors are a little bit to Op atm.

honestly it’s the fact that they can just become immune to damage and conditions along with insane regen and CC… granted a lot of styles for them require high skill but there are also plenty of easy-win no-skill builds that will take a crap on anyone who doesn’t have a much higher level of skill then them.

as a thief, my kryptonite is warriors more so then anything else, super tanky, super bursty, immune to damage, immune to conditions, tons of CC, almost nothing you can do against them unless you use one of the really chessey thief builds even then.

Why no love for stealthless P/P thieves

in Thief

Posted by: Runewolf.8456

Runewolf.8456

only real bad part about P/P is that it has no evade on it’s skill kit (whereas the other two ranged sets do) besides that if the basic attacks did more damage then it would be perfect. though i have been using P/P with S/D in PvP and so far i am likin it cause the blind tanking helps when classes like war lock you down. ATM it’s playable and still good single target damage but you just have less escape/evade potential,

Umm on the topic of condi removal, you can stealth (with the trait to remove condi’s every 3 sec) and there’s a sig that does it as well. we just don’t have mass condi removal…which we might need in the near future..

though for the most part i agree with the exception of stealth thieves on average are only decent really (not to say that thieves can’t do X, Y, or Z if you’re good enough though)

though to add to the builds thing, been playing a static discharge build, (still kinda new to engis but) it seems to do a lot of damage with nice survivability.

Ranger Pet Solution

personally, (regardless of how impractical it is) i play a ranger who uses swords and such, and never really use any of the skills that need pets to be 100% effective. So they are just in the way for me, i don’t get on GW2 all that often but i like to every once in a while, and i wanna play the class i like but the pets have just manage to be such a burden when i try and do some stuff that i don’t wanna play it. as well i love skills just not the idea of a pet, ranger sword skills are cool and fun, but i dun like the pets.
