I agree. This part of the story felt excessively forced.
I stated earlier that even gameplay elements felt like they were added due to a dev being overly infatuated with other franchises and that in GW2 this just doesn’t fit.Not only that, i must be the only tired of seeing NPC’s be superior to players. It’s an extremely sour taste. The player character should be the focal point systems are designed around. The fact that virtually every NPC now has their own Deus Ex device for combat is annoying. Anet should remember the universal scope, if I a player cannot do something, no NPC should (bearing extreme circumstances that should be explained) be able to. Looking at you 400 bone fiend, massive bone bridge, instant portals without sight etc….
These are glaring story and gameplay issues that leave you the PC (hero) feeling stupidly inadequate and frankly useless for anything more than a director.
TBH i like having things that are less powerful then me, cause if i am a god entity which cannot be stopped by any character in game why can’t i just murder the king/queen/leader of my respective race and eventually take over the world?
WoW as well as other stories with powerful player characters have others that are more powerful then you to sort of keep you doing the story without you being like “why the kitten can’t i just kill these people?” (some exceptions apply) but also it’s an MMO story GW2 is better then every other MMO i have played so i can accept this personally.

My only problem with rapid fire tracking into stealth is that you HAVE to use both dodges if you want to avoid the damage which on non-dodge centered thief builds means you pretty much are gonna get instant killed by any ranger with a longbow, cause even if you evade RF your gonna get hit by the pet and whatever other bow skills/alt set skills that will eat your health bar, and it’s on such a low CD that you can’t even kill them before it’s up again.
Also in my experience no other channel shooting skills track when people stealth (reliably) unload doesn’t unless they stand in place same with the warrior rifle rapid fire

Yes, every channelled skill tracks, RF, Unload, Air Scepter AA, Spatial Surge, Stone Shards, Flamethrower AA, every targeted channel….
Also, according to your logic, RF was nerfed, because now you need 2 dodges to evade it, but it was twice as much before the patch.

i don’t play many characters with Rapid fire esque abilities so your prolly right that they all track prolly just never payed much attention.

Now you HAVE to dodge roll/evade it, before you could hit the strafe keys and dodge half the arrows and/or use any movement skill moving to the left to right and you could dodge most of the damage while stealth-ed/entering stealth at least in my experience anyway.

so why should the ranger’s rapid fire do so?
if you extend revealed that will only make minimal stealth thieves do more damage
(traits that give you extra power when revealed)
maybe one or two pieces of assassin’s gear to get your crit chance up (weapons too if you want it higher) but i personally run full zerker with the +percision signet (can’t remember the name) with that i have ~65% crit chance while maintaining high power and ferocity.
you can make assassin’s work if you want higher crit but IMO zerkers is better for all around dps.
I personally gave up on focusing on backstab in my experience in WvW recently it’s nearly pointless to try and back stab spam heavies or anyone with high heals, still would use it on lights and other thieves but if you want to still run a power build rather then a condi one i would suggest P/D for the massive amount of heavies and mesmers to get them to miss what cc/shatters you can’t dodge.
for reference i run the same traits 0/6/5/0/3 (also would advise “execution” over “hidden killer” for the crit master trait) with full zerker gear and it’s great mobility, can still 2 shot squishies and youre able to actually fight heavies with minimal issues.

The move then becomes useless for the condi users, and power users, if using D/D, are mostly just using CnD and backstabbing so it won’t do a thing for them.

Unfortunately it all has been all been posted in threads many times before and nobody has taken any notice.
The thief skill I’d like to see added is an empty/open hand as an off hand weapon. It would look elegant and artful with appropriate thief skills instead of more maim, kill, and bash. Infiltrator’s strike would be the style of skill I’d put on there.
i imagine being a single sword “dualist” would be pretty neat tbh
venom builds are slightly more viable, and it fits in with condi meta, i still occasionaly run the torment venom anyway cause strong kitten condi and vulnerability is pretty nice fo some extra damage.
Signet Use: Gain a random boon when activating a signet. Regenerates 1 additional initiative per 10 seconds when one or more signet(s) is/are in CD. Reduces recharge on signets.
random boon is kind of a mesmer thing to my understanding maybe swiftness/fury/might? just a thought, love the ideas though. =D

I would appreciate an insta-suicide button for those random occasions when people refuse to stop you and spend five hours concussion shotting you until you die.
or maybe just remove downed state in hotjoin, cause no matter how integral to competitive it is only about 2/10 times I’m downed and far away from the fight (or hell even while near a relatively even fight) will people ever go out of their way to help and yes there are some times when it isn’t smart but when it is smart or there’s just a good opportunity I find a lot of the time i get ignored for the sake of trying to chase that god kitten ed de-cap engi.

only problem with this is that 5 man bunker teams show up.
you can get money, only if your lucky though. outside of selling mats from track rewards if you by some random chance in oblivion either get a super rare exotic (like infinite light) or a precursor it will make you some money real fast.
though I would appreciate getting more flat cash rather then 500 tons of ascended crafting mats that I can’t sell or use or just drop me some non-account bound mats that I can’t sell or do anything with (like bloodstone dust).

If you lost once you lost all your Adrenaline and the fight got reset, how’d you manage to not get rekt while building it up in the first place?

Thieves do now in a sense since thieves have all the evades, they can get wars to blow adrenaline, reset a fight, and then burst them down.
you do realize guards have a lowest base (or one of the) HP pools in the game, they kinda need the sustain otherwise you die. stun/daze lock will shut them down real fast
i too as a thief player would like to know the reasoning behind all the nerfs to thieves…
i just wish it would let you teleport w/o needing an ally already in the area, more like a teleport with a heal turret cloud at the end that heals people. IMO of course

Just because I play a Guardian I have to be forced into support? That mentality goes against one of the driving missions of this game, which is to play how you want.

Anyway what i said is that guardian is being force to do DPS while is supposed to be a supportive class. I know that every class can become everything but if guardians don’t get something on de support aspect rather then meditation for dps other classes will surclass us in the only aspect we were … “unique”.
At the actual state of the game warriors can stack might faster, give precision, heal, regen, toughness, high damage while guardian have to go or full damage with 0 party support or full support with low damage and STILL LOW PARTY SUPPORT! why!?
G U A R D I A N is supposed to help party… now you can say arenanet want to make all rounded classes, ok! give guardian more offensive abilities but COME ON give us SUPPORT above all… i don’t even know why to play guardian anymore! And it is my main class! When i run dungeons/fractals all what i do is try to do the highest damage while support party with boons and… wall… but what i always got in party is:
elementalist which spam might like hell… and ton of damage
warriors which spam crit/power boosts… and ton of damage
engineers/rangers which spam every boon simply planting turrets/spiritsoh… it is becoming another wall of text… .
it’s really easy to guard people when there are no enemies left to guard them from, afterall it’s pretty hard to fight as a pile of ash.

PvP Meditation build, great Dps and lots of heals (i think almost 2k per meditation w/o healing power) On top of that most of them do damage or have condi cleanse (really good for PvP)
Meditations work in PvE to my understanding as well since the damage ones are all AoE but i play mostly PvP soo
Also if your taking bow for “frantic” action, wrong weapon. Bow is mostly utility on thieves to make you more durable for those kind of thieves it is their off hand weapon set. If you want to main Bow then you can still do damage but it’s mostly for teamfight support and escaping at that point.
See, I use bow in a very active manner, sometimes engaging at very close range, using skill #2 to kite enemies.
So defeating the purpose of a ranged weapon entirely… got it. At that point your better of with a sword or dagger. SB is meant for ranged combat when get up close and personal is not optimal or just plain dumb. But you seem to like using it as a close ranged weapon and that’s fine but me and all the other thieves i know like the bow as a ranged back-up for when a fight gets too heated/AoE filled.
eviscerate is only up every once in a while and is not always on demand where as back-stab is, (since any thief build has stealth on demand)

I cannot contemplate why you would dislike this skill it is the best and most reliable escape skill for thieves.

i think this applies to dual wielding for any class, AA looks really weird with just one hand doing it, especially since most 2-weapon fighting styles revolve around using them both at once,
I’d say banning weapons might be rather hard to deal with since it would absolutely shatter people’s play styles rather, what about being able to ban utility skills?
i just don’t think GS goes with the theme of theives very well
Why change ileap back?, the old version had the worlds kittentiest pathing AI, which as you said is part of the problem, seems rather contradictory to me.
but otherwise i mostly agree with you.
this is basically a love tap compared to previous nerf bat beatings.
it’d be nice if dishonorable wasn’t a 1-3 day ban for the 1st offence, i got Dc’d from a match cause of router issues and not being able to play comp PvP for almost 3 days was really annoying not gonna lie.
if you read the post it says standard models are an option in the menu i think…
Edit: Confirmed it IS an option so if you don’t really care then you can turn them off.

Reward tracks are cool, unless you don’t craft, then you get a bunch of useless mats that you can’t sell or do anything with…. =(

Not much of a huge guard player but i run a meditation build in PvE/PvP/WvW and it does nice damage and has lots of heals.
Mobility is kinda the point of a thief, since they have kitten for defense otherwise. The second you catch a thief it’s going to be killed or get very close. So good thieves won’t get caught.
D/D works, just less optimal then using D/P. Most people run D/P backstab or S/D evasion builds.
I will admit that warriors are on the strong side but as a mes player i can still kill them, just kite them when they start AOE spamming. And if your a shatter mes against a warrior spam the hell outta confusion or daze it makes killing them real easy.
Also might wanna try changing traits/runes if you aren’t doing enough damage.
pretty much agree the only reliable thing you can get out of the new tracks is weapon skins.
no stealth = dead thief : in stealth = alive thief
Hence all the stealth spam builds.
make the clone actually jump to the target, that would solve 99% of the pathing issues
pretty easy to kill, just go for the one that isn’t standing still auto attacking you.
