I’d appreciate the option to flex my power muscle as commander of the pact, ranking officer in the order of whispers, the guy who saw the eternal alchemy, and the kittening dragon slayer and give her a good kitten kicking (maybe not lethal) regardless of her reasons. I mean come on, as a character I have been through all this stuff and forced to let people off, or send them to prison and generally be a “hero of justice” despite being a dirty backstabbin thief so I think as a character I can justify kicking caith’s kitten for not filling me in.

TL DR: I just want some “renegade” style choices with how we deal with this kinda kitten here.

So I was using a Hammer/GS Warrior, versus a PU Condi Mesmer, with 5 guard stacks at that while I had none.

After about 8 minutes of frustration, I finally managed to take him down.

He then proceeds to flame me accusing me of resetting the fight (I never reset the fight) and running (I never ran either) then eventually he blocks me. I kind of find it ironically because a PU condi mesmer’s playstyle is pretty much just spam clones, stealth, teleports, winds of chaos, torment block, etc.

Which got me thinking, when classes that have ranged weapons like rangers use sword or GS to create distance, or mesmers and thieves use stealth and teleports to do the same thing, it’s called kiting. But when a Warrior uses rush to create distance for whatever reason, it’s called cheesy or called “running”. In my case I used it to wait for my cooldown on my Berserker Stance which was about to be up in 7-8 seconds and it isn’t like I completely avoid my opponent for 20+ seconds till Healing Signet heals me full. Even then, if you can’t attack or damage me, then that’s your fault and the fault of your build.

The difference is, the Warrior is usually full melee while the other class is ranged. A Warrior isn’t doing damage at 1,200 range. I think people got their concepts of kiting and running mixed up.

Would like to know other people’s thoughts about this.

Welcome to the MMORPG community where almost no one understands the difficulty of other classes and when they get wrecked they blame the class or build for being cheese rather then you know the actual reason, they weren’t as good as you.

It is not really OP – its BROKEN. Who loves to fight something you barely see most of the times and hit thin air to maybe hit that one in stealth? Not me thank you.

I thought WoW rogues could be annoying on this matter, gw2 proved me wrong.

don’t most servers have a dedicated Mumble or TS that players get on for WvW rallies?

My server is mid tier, t3-5’s for the last year or so now, I don’t know how it is in the bottom tiers.

I’m runnin on a t4 server currently and we got a dedicated TS, I was under the impression most servers did.

I don’t play necros so i can’t comment on them but, guards have pretty readily available swiftness access, just stand in your staff symbol for all 4 ticks of it (each on gives you 4 sec of swiftness)and on top of that you have shouts if you run shout guard. as for mesmers I think they would benefit from a speed signet, they are the only class without one that can’t get any reasonable swiftness.

If you have trouble with movespeed, I personally recommend finding a build that works with “rune of the traveler” or “rune of the pack”.

Traveler gives you a 25% boost for the 6th upgrade, and gives some buffs to all stats as well as some boon duration increase(will increase swiftness)

Pack is for those who want more damage, get decent power, 125 precision, might/fury/swift when you get smacked, and a large buff to swiftness duration.

You’re suggesting that the primary role of a mesmer is to hunt down squishies? Mesmers are actually a good counter to celestial builds if they don’t have a thief on their tail.

never said they weren’t good at that but meso’s are built around deception and interruption which makes them extremely effective against squishies, even though they can still kill/counter other build/class types.

I’d rather just get a repeatable reward path that gives you gold/other currencies(dungeon currencies, karma, laurals..) then gem rewards.

Also less kittening ascended mats that I’m never gonna use and just end up deleting cause for some ungoddly reason we can’t sell them on the TP or something.

I’d like to completely disregard PvE but I WvW and PvP. Unfortunately the rewards in terms of money in either is rather meager so PvE = moneys and story. If the rewards get upped for WvW/PvP then PvE will only ever exist for some story to change up the pace.

My opinion aside, I certainly don’t think the PvP community is as small as people make it out to be (especially since WvW is a kind of PvP) however we are still in the minority. so saying “we don’t care about PvE” is pretty false my friend. Gimme some better PvP rewards or the old armor skill system back and you might convince some more people.

also, another problem is, heavy boon removal professions such as mesmers and necromancers require high personal player skill level to perform well, or with good support from team mates.

you have no idea how many times i have experienced my balanced stance -> battle standard combo to be interrupted and my team mates stomped right before my eyes.

yes, the other team have players who removes my stability first before interrupting my battle standard.

simply improve boon removal options or the professions which are supposed to be strong in boon removals (mesmer, necromancers) and we will see less complains about celestial amulet. and might stacking.

or simply start toning down boon access on some classes….

why nerf things when we can buff things instead?

because since only few specs need toning down nerfing few things is way better than buffing everyone else leading to new op stuff popping up..

necro was op after dumbfire patch…they buffed wars in order to counter op condi necros…and ended up with wars being more op than how necros were before….if they plan to buff other specs to make them able to counter broken eles and engis we’re gonna end with even more broken stuff around….and everything is gonna start all over again

start nerfing incendiary powder since is one of the most reterded traits ever, and toning down ele’s access to permaregen and permavigor and\or putting some cd on cleansing water…or remove some fire and water fields that make ele a might stacking\support machine in teamfight with all those blasts around

everything is already gonna be way more balanced

sure “OP” stuff would pop up but if ever class gets equally buffed, everyone is OP, therefore you can be balanced in that respect.
Also Nerfing things can inadvertently lead to the same thing, if for example you nerfed ele’s access to regen, vigor, and might then quite a few builds could become completely unplayable since they literally require all of those buffs to even function and compete with other classes.

I do agree that things could use some balancing, I’m just saying that we should think rather carefully about how we would want to do this so we don’t make classes simply unplayable or stuck with only 2 viable builds.

Try to look at it from the eyes of a beginner guys.

The NPCs award points, and give you a buff. Who wouldn’t want that?

It takes a higher level of understanding of the both the map and conquest mechanics to get that securing mid is important.

How would you guys suggest we go about teaching this to players?

Make it spawn like 2 minutes in?

Courtyard is fine, having a brawler tdm game mode fine, but please can we take it out of the conquest rotation? if you like that kind of cluster kitten then far be it from me to stop you but take 2 more maps and get your own que cause I like conquest.

Rather then a “de-activation” range we have it changed to that when the owner is more then X distance away turrets can now be crit? seems pretty fair, that way turret still give support while allowing people to deal with them easily when the engi leaves them.

I’d also like to contribute a bit, for Power Rangers; force them to waste their pointblank shot(knock back) with evade/blind before they can use it to set up RF. Next best thing you can do is breaking LoS when they rapid fire cause that is most of their damage(also if you have a hard time dealin with RF withdraw or roll for initiative will dodge like 98% of it), once that and PBS are down just rush them, force them to switch to gs or die. Once they are in GS the only skill i find you need to watch for is Maul(the big bear attack thing) it will chunk your health, but if you dodge it puts the ranger in a stick spot. After that just rinse and repeat, if you fudge it or something (mess up a skill or w/e) use obstacles to by time for your CD’s

Then with S/D thieves, kite them and bait out their evades, they have big gap closers but they have pretty long CD’s or require them to jump away before trying again. Outside of that condi bomb or some CC/interrupts will also serve you well. Worst case scenario just buy time till your teammates show up their burst isn’t high unless they get fire/air procs.

quick mention that this is stuff I PERSONALLY do and may not be optimal/the best but it works for me.

Well considering human and charr tech seems pretty similar with the charr’s just being better, and the asuran’s being all magical I assume they just took whatever human/Charr weapons they had and stuck magic asuran batteries in them rather then bullets, prolly streamlined em a bit in the process as well. Also the original pact gear (the stuff you get by completing the personal story) looks pretty okay for them only having a year to make it, where as the silverwastes pact soldiers I believe have had 2(?) more years to further stream line the hybrid tech.

Then there is the durmand priory which is essentially this game’s equivalent of jimmy neutron.

As a thief main, just CC the kitten out of them and they will die or you’ll blow all their stun breakers then your buddy will kill them and probably revive you. =)

I’d like to have a /dual command or option, for open world and/or PvP lobby, it’s a nice time waster and a nice way to quickly test builds w/o having to potentially drag down 4 other people.

if rapid fire didn’t track in stealth or they nerfed the knock back from point blank shot that would settle my complaints tbh.

Not to say it’s impossible to get around since thieves (my main class) have some insane gap closer combos but in situations where I’m just leaving a fight and a random ranger happens to walk by and just hit 2 and kill me it would be nice to have some more counter play.

Though I also agree they could do more to make rangers have to set their kitten up idk what they would do though…

having a stun that chains into an immobilize, burning, and more damage(as well as a blast finisher as well I think?) and on top of all of this getting healing turret plus med kits. For a 120s CD that sounds pretty low considering it turns any objective into a fortress instantly. oh yeah and all for one skill slot. Literally no other elite in the game does that much stuff. def needs a buff.

Pro:
-awesome single target damage
-one of if not the longest ranges in game(longbow)
-decent build variety (depending on what you do)
-very much a kin to hunters from WoW (i too played both pally and hunter in my WoW days, if you like hunters you’ll prolly like rangers just as much)

Con:
-some what kittened pet AI (better then it used to be)
-pet dies instantly in most AoE
-often seen as “no skill press 2 easy win gg” class

only just started my ranger though im sure there is more =D

get venomous aura trait and start blasting fire fields for might stacks with cluster bomb. as a thief you have pretty much every combo finisher in the game at your disposal.

fire fields = free might (condi dmg + power)
water fields = free regen
light fields(most guard AoE’s) = free retaliation

if you use cluster bomb (not the second activation just let it big bomb sail) it’s a spammable blast finisher which means if you blast fields it can buff your entire team. I do it in dungeons on my thief not horribly sure how viable it is in Spvp but sure would be cool to see.

Gamemode destroyed and deader then dead.
Mission accomplised another couple hundered dedicated players kittened off and disenfranchised.
And it is a hundered because basicly most wvw players already bailed when realizing this gamemode will never get something that actually promotes the way of playing everyone want to come out of wvw [i can here people thinking “then don’t blob”]
bleeding out some may say.

All i know that the 150 players on our server still want fights and basically we went OS to battle our opponents there, because kitten knows how we could find them otherwise.

Nice “event” though, exactly what we needed in WvW.

For further information about how to fix WvW see the 3000 posts in this subforum begging for change. literally begging.

bye now. back to playing this war of mine , even though the game only lasts for a couple hours it has more endgame.

deader than dead? idk what server your on but when I was playing last night I got plenty of action, there’s just no massive 100 player zergs wiping maps anymore which is really nice if you ask me.

I’m on a medium pop server and I actually think it’s a great idea as someone who does WvW a lot I think it makes things less automated, more fluid and it means commanders actually have to manage more information and people making it so winning requires more thought then just “lets attack these two places to get swords up then zerg rush SM” or something to that degree. In fact it encourages splitting up zergs which I personally believe results in better fights based around actual skill rather then numbers. The event also makes up leveled players more useful since they won’t be able to fight much they can still scout and be able to contribute outside of a zerg setting.

Just a summary of the reasons I enjoy the event, rather than complaining about it why not try and find the positives and how it could help make WvW better.

Fractals does it so much better. Although it might not always be you in graphics, it is still your build, your weapons, your chosen skills.

Playing as Caithe, whilst interesting for the story was offputting since you are thrown into the deep end without being able to learn the skills and associate with them over time. This works very much against the point and spirit of an MMORPG for me.

not sure if this was actually what A-net was going for or not but IMO it adds to the feeling that you are a young and not horribly well trained sylvari who while competent enough to get by doesn’t understand the deeper parts of combat.

And again this is all opinion, I think if we where allowed to used our builds it would not only feel awkward seeing as caithe is a thief but (because you are level 80 an understand your class at a decent level) it also would seem that you just instantly can fight with some godlike efficiency despite being barely 12 years old (if I recall correctly).

Though I will say my opinion is just a little biased since I main thief but since you can win in most of the instances by just clicking buttons i figure it wouldn’t be that hard to pick up.

I don’t understand… the 1st revamp of the daily had too few choices, so the 2nd revamp of the daily added more choices, now the 3rd revamp of the daily removed those choices…

First off… Why do you keep wasting development time revamping the daily? this is literally the 4th iteration of it.

Secondly… why are we reverting to having no choices? that was what you tried to solve with the last revamp…

4 choices for each category, and to my understanding any combination of 3 achieves will get you your daily VS pre-patch where you had 6 pve and 2 pvp and 2 wvw and you needed 5 to proc daily.

They did add more options…for the PvP’ers

ele has best heals and field buffs. play staff ele drop meteor storm then switch to water and drop your regen fields/ect. the idea is to do damage and give might/regen/whatever and idealy any class can support. Even as a thief with my PvE build i have prety much every combo finisher in the game so i can spread buffs of all kinds.
