There is. It’s called Vitality.
It creates combo field. Many combo fields in this game are unblockable and apply some condition (fire fields burning, poison fields poison etc.) and all ice combo fields like one Reaper has behave the same on other professions (Frost Trap, Frozen Ground, ice field from engi mortar) . The only change you could make is to RS#5 only spawn ice field if it hits something, though I don’t see it as a problem.

Yo Grouch, thanks for answer regarding Stronghold. Hope to see old things fixed and new stuff added to Conquest then. One more question/suggestion:
RE: Balance -> Contrary to popular belief, the PvP team (or wvw, fractals, raids, etc) doesn’t actually handle profession balance. There’s an entirely separate team dedicated to handling balance for all core areas of the game (appropriately named the Balance team). The PvP team (and the other aforementioned teams and more) gives regular feedback on balance issues, but the balance team is ultimately in charge of maintaining the design vision across the game.
Have you (as ArenaNet) considered going back to the idea of Forum Profession Specialists, similar to PvP, PvE etc. forum ones? I think it could be a reasonable help and maybe bring some life back to discussions, since people would know their feedback is not going into the void. Or maybe monthly discussion threads on each profession’s forum with Balance Team? Or maybe monthly profession discussion with one of the Devs on topics provided by Forum Specialist?
Reddit or more general forums can’t cover serious feedback discussions like these and profession subforums are good place for such things.
Cheers,
Rym
Dear Papa Grouch,
What’s up with Stronghold? Any plans for it? Updates (besides new champions), fixes? Maybe start some official feedback thread for it. It’s sad to see new game mode being, more or less, dead in Legendary division. It’s been some time since last major updates (that were made back in Beta Weekends I think) and I haven’t seen any mention of this new game mode in Mike O’Brien’s posts, just in AMA that new map is eventually coming, if I remember correctly.
It’s sad to see a new game mode that has potential dropping so low in interest due to no fixes that during official ESL Stronghold tournament no ESL admin even bothers to show up.
tfw when you read revenant forums nowadays
Pretty much all Ranger pets are exact copy of mobs existing in “pve wilderness” + some special abilities.
I bet changing anything about pet behaviour or attack speed means these things also affecting pve counterparts.
And probably 9999 weird bugs having experienced their coding.
Wouldn’t get my hopes up. They are here for fluff, not combat.
Astral Whisp (#2) could do something different. It’s quite fire&forget and while cool as a concept, doesn’t bring anything to gameplay.
What if it did AoE damage around the target (including “whisped” enemy or not) whenever you heal an ally (outside of Regeneration)or do percantage of your healing output as damage in small AoE? That would add something to gameplay of Staff and help slightly with the lack of any AoE/“burst” damage on it while keeping the theme. It just shouldn’t have too much uptime to add some timing skill to it and not be weak debuff you have to keep up 100% of time.

I think that if you are using offensive sets on Druid, Glyph is better, but in high-healing power sets you already have enough burst healing, especially in Avatar and you will be better with traited HSpring.
That’s your opinion. When I respect it, I fully disagree myself. Swapping weaponsets together with Legends would only limit flexibility.
As for shorter Legend swap CD it would just drive Revenant even further away from energy management into spamming skills.

What the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve over.
Do what you must if that means any new content, better game balance or that fabled WvW rework coming out this year. Two new skins won’t bring old players back, but siginificant gameplay changes can.
Doubt Colin had anything to do with any profession’s design. He seemed to be more of a PR “damage control” person.
SA is probably better for 1v1s, but overall, traited “Rise!” is superior in Conquest for me.
the thing is both skills get a lot better in teamfights..
on a 20k lifeforce base (mercenary, paladin or marauder amulet) spectral armor gives you 1600k effective HP per hit you take, no matter if you fight a power or condi spec. if you activate ot just before going into shroud you are almost invulnerable for 6s no matter how many players hit you as long as they hit for less than 1600 damage per hit..
rise on the other hand has a better uptime in theory but in teamfights I feel like those little things get kitten d in like 5 seconds every time.. anyone knows how mutch lifeforce they give on death?
Life Force generation on SA and SW has 1s ICD, so it doesn’t really scale. Was changed somewhere in 2013.
You packed pre-HoT builds like they existed and performed in one meta. Wasn’t a case.
SA is probably better for 1v1s, but overall, traited “Rise!” is superior in Conquest for me.
Search for 2016 USA election :V.
Some of the bias here is unreal. I’ve seen revs take or groups of 3-4 and last long enough for help to come. Retribution is probably the lazyist spec to choose because of all the ridiculous passive defenses. Take soothing bastion and you can chain the root block twice with shield, free stab on evade, two stacks if you take EB, passive endurance regen from retribution so more free easy stab, stun break every 8 sec on a minor that’s just as good as Foot in the Grave for necro and that’s a GM, reducing weakness effectiveness for some stupid reason, 50% damage and condition reduction on wait for it….another passive defense that’s also a stun break, free unblockables when you get blocked and the option to have those attacks have greater damage and both passive, numerous evades on weapon skills, plenty of blocks, high offensive pressure, good mobility (to anyone dumb enough to say rev has bad mobility then look at necro before you complain, and it doesn’t have near the passive or active defenses rev has). Core rev isn’t near as bad as people say it is when you stop looking at ventari and corruption’s lack of synergy with the new Mallyx, and everyone knows Herald is beyond out of control. Rev has to make little to no sacrifices in order to have most of these things and do them very well, not the best at them, but very effective. I played rev in the betas and knew after bw3 it was out of line, and was salty about Mallyx. I don’t play my rev anymore because it’s boring, half of the class can potentially play itself because you can rely on something activating that you did nothing to cause. Does it have its problems? Yes, ventari and salvation are useless, Mallyx and his line couldn’t be much farther apart, hammer is useless aside from CoR spam and it’s still full of bugs. The only thing rev truly lacks is good condi cleanse, bit that’s intended.
You lost me at Soothing Bastion.
Best counter to condi mes is Resistance, since they can’t strip boons in the popular build (apart from sword chain aa, but ya know). You can bring Mallyx Revenant if you see a lot of Condi Mesmers, he should be able to significantly lower their pressure in teamfights if needed (PAbsorption) and 1v1 them with ease unless he gets Moa’d.
Fighting them as Druid is more or less kiting till CA is up and repeat. Unless you’re running build with a lot of glyph cleanses, then you stand fair chance.
It’s not op in the sense that it can beat everything 1v1. It’s op because it can do basically everything at once. Team fight, support, damage, 1v1, mobility, decent sustain, all at once.
Almost all of meta specs are very flexible due to nature of Conquest. That wasn’t true couple years ago, but it is now. It is not only Revenant.
Maybe get some good-looking girl to shoutcast?
2 weeks delay

Once players hit T1 Legendary, 99% of them stop caring. Expect people finishing their dailies, profession achievements or playing for fun once in a while, maybe with lolbuilds.
why is everyone complaining about bots. every game goes through the same thing at release.
…I can’t think of a single mmorpg game with player-made bots in pvp. I mean… how bad can the game’s pvp be when a macro program can faceroll PvP matches for you.. utterly ridiculous.
GW2 is the better PvP game.
WoW – Warlock interrupt bots in Rated BGs after MoP.
There were also “bot BGs” where one side can be composed entirely of bots, but I think Blizzard has dealt with them and it was mostly a problem on EU after they connected EU and Russian servers back in MoP.
BnS isn’t a MMO in the first place. It’s 3rd person fighting game. I’d much rather play Mortal Kombat.

Strafe a lot in inconsistent manner when Revenant is in Staff.
/thread
While I see your point from PvE perspective, I don’t support it. “Rise!” is a defensive skill now and previous version of Shout would make any fight with adds completly broken compared to now, with Jaggeds dealing upwards of 60-70% of Reaper’s damage I guess.
I would rather see more minion management focus in next Elite Specializations and changes to existing minions that would make them more viable.
Riposting Shadows restoring full dodge. It’s just a big no-no. And Precision Strike is a little bit too strong when it doesn’t bug out or gets split. Should be changed to always fire 2 projectiles at targeted enemy and bonus one if other targets are present.
Apart from that, not much really.
It’s not really easier than playing anything else, but it ain’t rocket science either. You will have to know the mechanics and figure out how to deal with them, that’s for sure. But Druid/Tempest healers have easy access to powerful healing without much effort and you can easily cover the brief downtime on Celestial Avatar with other heals if needed.
I’ve cleared all the bosses as Druid multiple times now and it’s fun role to play if you have some basic awarness and understanding of skills. Really, no MIT diploma required.
I would like to be able to spawn Wargs in my Guild Hall. Thank you.
They never promised three bosses per wing. They only promised three wings and three bosses in the first wing. Anyway, I’m pretty sure they do internally consider the prison event to be a boss-like encounter. They likely even intentionally made Slothasor and Matthias harder than any Spirit Vale boss to compensate for this fact.
They also said that if your group can beat VG, it can beat sloth. My guild group can beat VG and Gorse and isn’t even close on sloth. Despite a lot of work. I have come to within 1% in pugs. But my guild group cannot make it past 50% on sloth.
The reason being, in VG you can screw up and it wont nearly wipe the whole raid. You need a good tank, and a good healer. The rest is pretty up in the air. Put 5 on Greens so you have some cushion and the teleport really only hurts the player that it happened to.
The reason being the random aggro and volatile poison. Despite hours on that boss I still have the same 3 or 4 people in my group that when they get volatile poison the freak out, or don’t realize. Despite us calling their name on TS, they still drop it in the group or in front of it. We also have people who get aggro, and when the boss turns around to face them they back up. Then keep backing up to try and get away.
I know there will be no possible way we will beat Mathias with our guild group. People just cannot get the mechanics down for sloth. Most of these guys have never even killed Sab.
What I am getting at is that I would put Sloth at a much higher level than both VG and Gorse when you consider an individuals need to follow the mechanic. So the statement that was made about guilds being able to beat Sloth if they can down VG is bs.
Back to OP, no they never said 3 bosses per wing. I have heard from some guildies that have done it that it is not difficult. But the achieve would be.
Sloth is actually harder than Matthias, because one simple mistake can cause wipe. Couple mistakes on Matthias don’t really mean much.

Ziltoid – Necro
I still see many Revenants around. Numbers obviously decreased after re-roll folk has jumped on other bandwagons.
As for forum activity…There isn’t really much left to discuss or debate on. Most of the problems has been diagnosed in BWEs and shortly after HoT launch and are waiting to be fixed. Many of us have written pages of feedback, but looking at the sheer scope of last “major” balance patch for Revenant, I’m not sure if we should bother posting about any problems.
And even if, Reddit seems to be much better place, having replaced official forums as a platform where Devs communicate with players.
.
1. Finish Stronghold development, get it out of the beta.
2. Nerf autoattacks.
3. Introduce more skillshot/ ground target skills instead of auto-aim.
4. Remove most 2-3 condition cleanses. Every proffession should have skill allowing to fully cleanse themselves, but on meaningful cooldown. Greatly decrease the amount of condition application. Re-design each boon to be 2-10s powerful buff that you can’t have permanently.
5. Remove passive skill activations from traits (i.e. “Use Elixir B when below 75% hp”)
Honestly, leave Skyhammer as it is. It’s a fun joke map, but has no potential for serious pvp anyway due to it’s design.
Re-use old assests and re-create Capricorn 2.0 with no underwater etc. – that would be my wish.
1v1 power revenant shouldn’t win, with ele support it does.

Don’t bother with PUGs. While it may be an option to cap shards or do once a month, finding decent and motivated group every reset might be annoying.
You can use links above to find a Guild. Don’t bother with ones recruiting from map chats and various “PvX/Social” guilds – universal rule of thumb when it comes to MMOs when you actually want to do something reliably like PvP or endgame.
Read some guides linked above by other posters, know your professions, remember about food & consumables and you will be great addition to any group even with exotic gear.
T C mohafookin G!
I hate the daily participation achievement required for legendary backpack (literally only thing left -.-) as I tend to play in long, but singular sessions once-twice a week, but aside from that, meh, won’t complain much.
I don’t really have urge for playing or ranking up like in S1, but it’s mostly due to stale gameplay and not many new options for my builds rather than the game being unbalanced or something.
More or less, I do.
In general, I’m against it. Why? Because of what LFR (Looking For Raid) in WoW has become.
It gave people an option to basically netflix through all raids they wanted, with obviously nerfed rewards and everything was cool, but…
They didn’t see a point in raiding in “regular” mode whatsoever again, because they believed they’ve already seen and experienced the content, which besides textures being the same in LFR and Normal/Heroic/Mythic raiding is totally inadequate.
LFR purged the excitement behind raiding, the urge to actually experience what game has to offer. Blizzard tried to re-ignite the spark with many changes to “regular” version of raids and make starting a raid as easy as possible, but it doesn’t matter all that much and problem persists.
Give open, cleared instances to people who want to experience the lore, but don’t make bosses easier.
Where have you noticed Revenant with Hammer after it’s nerf? I’ve seen 1 somewhere in amber or emerald division since Season 2 started. Just curiosity.
That would end up like in-game VoIP they implemented into World of Warcraft couple years ago.
because it is an elite skill with a long cool down.
It´s a 50sec cd on your f5 with alacrity
Moa is blockable, dodgeable and has a ridiculously long cast that can be interrupted. This is a learn to play issue.
Not all classes have blocks or stunbreaks. It is not dodgeable from sword3/shield 5 cc combo.
Then you will have to drop one shout or teleport in order to get one if you’re having problems with it. Or get shout that stunbreaks.
I generally agree that Moa could’ve been more visible, though.
If they ever start pro pvp league 2 with this messy pvp balacning, ima laugh. They tried so hard to push esport, it’s sad…
They are going to stack Necros and Eles I bet.
You can only have 1 of each profession on team. So no stacking.
Not that you will see much variety in professions picked, at least for the most part. But it’s like complaining you never see shotguns or double pistols in ESL CS:GO matches. Only way you would see all 9 professions being picked would be if you kept the rule above and increased team size to 9.
Grimkram, you’re starting being grumpy.
A lot of Revenant has to be re-designed, not just nerfed. 60% of this profession is still somewhere in between pre-Specialization state and Beta Testing.
Only two nerfs that could be made without major reworks I see and want, because I think they’re fair are:
Condition Revenant, unless you’re fighting coordinated team. Less reliant on others, provides Resistance for allies in teamfights which can carry hard against condition-heavy PUGs. Bullies Reapers (PA Resistance gain scales) and DHs in any teamfight, annihilates Power Revenants. Perfect counter to new Condition Mesmer, almost impossible to lose that 1v1. You shouldn’t 1v1 decent Reapers and be aware of Thieves, though.
Since the YouTube video is up, I thought I will just drop it here:
Enjoy
Rev is fine honestly, any condi build played well except Mallyx Rev for some reasons can counter it, if you have a problem with it, it might just be because of you or your build, not the class.
Mallyx Revenant was and is the ultimate counter to Power Revenant. Not much has changed.
By the way, Bobby mentioned there would be an NPC in Spirit Vale that previously had no name, but would get one with this release. Has anyone already found out who he ment?
It’s the vendor. She got renamed from “Priory Scholar” to “Scholar Glenna”.
No idea if spoiler…
Could it not be the Pact Squad leader? From what I understood he didn’t really have a name in Wing 1 and you end up talking to him in Wing 2, I think?
Pact Squad leader is his prisoner
