-Surge of the Mist 3s cast time
This is comedy gold. Shows why these threads are absolutely pointless.
One major issue I see currently are the new team-colored bars for each team when in spectator mode.
They’re bigger, but visually they’re much harder to follow and are less precise. Colored bars and names blend with each other, it’s hard to notice the Downstate/Necro’s Shroud and it’s really tough to quickly distinguish individual players.
Maybe a feature that would allow to move these bars from the corners to others areas of the screen?
I would really love to be able to see healthbars and names of players over their characters’ heads when spectating. Doesn’t have to be that big, but at least basic info.

It procs per unique condition. 1 bleeding or 100, doesn’t matter.
It heals every time a condition is applied (not ticking), stacks don’t matter.
Thx for offering opinions. I’m still very interested in building such a “non-mainstream” healer. So….any more ideas about the status choice? Is concentration necessary for sustaining boons?(since Gallrock is running full cleric)
Thx again~No you really don’t need concentration. All boon duration that you’d want comes from food , runes and the herald trait line.
Magis is taken mostly on druid so that your toughness doesn’t mess up aggro on bosses where it matters. In our case you’ll mess up aggro anyways because of hardened foundations, so you might as well tank too (clerics also gives a 20% higher damage).
On invocation vs devastation devastation increases your personal DPS more and it also gives you assassins presence. Invocation can be taken if you already have assassins presence and haven’t capped might (shared empowerment, sigil of strength and rolling mists).
Zealots is really “meh” your damage won’t really be high and your healing will take a massive hit, it’s also expensive.Question, wouldn’t it be a good idea to take shrouded mists from invocation for more healing towards allies?
The condition for it is bad so in most cases no. To maximize healing output and boon upkeep you’ll want to swap on cooldown so you’ll rarely be above 50% energy. That is unless you don’t need to heal in the first place.
Something I’ve been wondering, you might know. To get the shrouded mists outgoing healing benefit do you need to be above 50 energy after you spend the energy on the skill that heals or is before you use it enough?
Shrouding Mists doesn’t work at all at 50 energy, it only works from 49 and 51. Outgoing healing is applied at start of the cast, before you spend energy, so you have to be >51 energy at the time of cast for bonus outgoing healing to apply.
PvE WvW and PvP are three different worlds. Varezenem gave you answers for PvE, but PvP variant would be entirely different. I don’t know about WvW.
Every Necromancer is and should be about conditions, because that’s theme of the profession. Not every build, however, focuses on damaging ones (DoTs).
DPS Rev has always been boring af in PvE and it isn’t going to change anytime soon. Sword as weapon lacks synergy between skills (there’s no alternative to sword) and Legends don’t really matter in raid environment, as long as they provide some minimal damage increase. If you don’t plan on playing PvP or roaming on WvW with this profession, as it currently stands, Revenant might be the most boring DPS to play after Hammer Guardian in PvE. Not like other professions are interesting there imo, but still.
It’s problem with both PvE and Revenant.
(edited by Rym.1469)
It’s actually a problem with both gameplay and rewards.
As Erzian pointed out, it’s simply not fun to play against current builds. They rely on damage spam to pierce through massive amounts of active damage mitigation/cleanses/protection.
Supporting isn’t fun because as always only viable supports rely on Shouts and others means of healing/cleansing that don’t require any coordination or attention from support and one being supported (huge AoE etc.).
Add annoying passives to that, no space for build diversity, because meta ones are usually three times better and rarely a skill/utility that’s not optimal to use on cooldown and you have the picture.
PvP League system could be replaced with new Heroes of the Storm system, that’s basically it. They share many similarities, but HotS one provide competition for higher rank players.
Rewards…We simply need something WoW had for years – unique rewards/skins for finishing season in top X%, different for every season, unobtainable in any other way. Pretty lame title for just getting to last division doesn’t cut it.

Next weapon, whatever it is, should be an viable alternative to Staff (or if one-handed be able to achieve that in combination with existing off-hands), maybe leaning a bit more towards Power damage. Long range, reliable Life Force generation, condition transfer/CC, that kind of stuff. Probably with a support theme.
Not a fan of yet another Greatsword.
I’d like to see more underused weapon types.
Staff isn’t tied to Ventari in any way, it’s only synergy comes from 1 trait in Salvation line (Tranquil Benediction). Just because it has some support utility doesn’t mean it’s tied to Support Legend nor it does mean the weapon is bad.
Aktium.9506 is the winner. Congratulations!
I will post more specific response at the weekend, where I will comment on other proposed concepts I loved and also give more specific reasoning why I picked that submission.
For now, thanks to everyone who participated and sorry for the delay, irl stuff.
(edited by Rym.1469)
Thanks Silverkey for summary and both of you guys who posted their submission even after I closed the contest.
I just want to say that I’m reading through these, but due to being busy with studying for finals irl, it may take two more days or so untill I announce the winner.
Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone else have any alternate proposals for Momentary Pacification?
First thing, Josh. Salvation is a traitline that, with no discussion, requires the most attention out of all. Nobody uses it. There are core flaws with whole specialization. I see that you’re looking into some Revenant issues, so here is my proposal:
Now, about the specific trait. Momentary Pacification as trait makes no sense in the first place. Only Jalis and Mallyx don’t have toolkit with CC on Elite.
Here are two quick replacement suggestions, just for this trait. I can make more. Thanks to that_shaman for his tooltip builder tool, as always.

(edited by Rym.1469)
The trait is actually working as intended (25% chance to apply torment), but the tooltip is incredibly inaccurate.
That said, I don’t think it’s GM worthy with a 15s ICD. How does 10s sound?
That is hillariously poor kitten trait then that doesn’t belong in adept even. Uninteresting, entirely passive, doesn’t change gameplay at all. Underpowered is useless, viable would be another RNG/proc design nobody wants to fight against.
If you ever decide that you want to fix Mallyx/Corruption, take a look at this .
Little outdated, as I’d probably take out all cooldown procs entirely, but main ideas are still there.

Posting stuff on reddit rather on official forums seems to hasten bugfixing. /s
I’m closing it. Thanks for all the submissions, I will check all the entries and pick a winner in following days.
I’ll be closing this in about 24h hours, so submit your entries if you haven’t already.
The only thing ith ArenaNet logo on it I’d never buy w would be inclinometer, because it could never be balanced.
;)

Hey,
I recently got a code for 800 gems, but since I’m not planning on playing Guild Wars 2 in close future, I thought I could make a small creativity contest and giveaway that code to author of the best submission. Keep in mind it’s 100% subjective.
Long story short, from the time I made this post till 02.06.2016(June 2nd) you can post or link your submissions under this thread. After closing the contest, I will choose the winner and possibly some other entries that I like and comment on what I liked or not.
One person – one submission. Everyone is free to enter.
There are couple things I will pay a lot attention to such as:
Use numbers to indicate the general idea, they don’t have to be any balanced.
You can use that_shaman’s tooltip builder, templates, write word documents, whatever you like.
Couple of my older works if you’re not sure how to start:

Everything will be fine, as long as they stay away from cliche Elder Dragons/magic/leylines trio and leave the cringy LS characters behind.
Start of LS S2 was pretty good, untill the killer was revealed to be some random crazy sylvari.
As for the expansion, I’d like Isles of Janthir the most with dragons, magic and leylines taking far background. Or Elona/re-visiting Kaineng City.
(edited by Rym.1469)
Tbh, I think they now regret that they went with massive dragons. Sounds cool on paper, but in practice it’s shallow, cliche plot and extremaly limitating when it comes to combat.
We have already slain arguably the second most interesting Elder Dragon (after DSD) – of Mind – and they wasted it’s potential. From the get-go I can think of dozens of unique mechanics related to mind-manipulation that could’ve been here, stories and that’s just a tip of an iceberg. I believe you can’t blame storywriters for all of that, since it’s company-wide effort, but still.

2500 is pretty high and unexpected number. Last week it was barely 1k.
After just some initial testing, I am pretty sure Rev. is still S tier. It was only ever weak to condi spam, and condi builds have much less sustain without merc amulet (making them susceptible to rev burst even more).
Rev honestly needs a nerf to its hard defenses (evades, blocks, invulns), burst from procs (legend swap shouldn’t proc sigils since there IS a weapon swap), and precision strike (either CD, energy, or adding a greater cast time/wind up). Rev can live almost as long as a bunker while playing marauder, and that is just imbalanced.
If a rev is going to have all the hard defense AND damage, then it needs to be slow and have no teleports. It is still just currently just a thief with way better defense and no real weakness.
The sigils proccing on profession mechanics isn’t unique to Revenant – Necromancer also has that since HoT. Not counting professions which had it before.
Revenant needs, like someone said, to come out of beta first. It has so limited viable toolset that if you keep on nerfing defensives you won’t really kill Power Rev that is a problem – you will kill every single Revenant build, because all are forced to use more or less the same set of weapons/defensives/traits/skills. The profession isn’t finished.

At this point, wouldn’t expect any fixes besides number tweaking till the next expansion. Whether they can’t or don’t want to enable alternative builds or playstyles, I’m not sure, but it isn’t happening any time soon.
Logic is it was overpowered in PvP for it’s cost and bonus effects. Not much to explain, really.
Yeah, with such cost they could consider removing the CD or giving it like 2 charges, each with 5s CD.
Fair number tweaks. Nothing you wouldn’t expect. Thanks god they haven’t put more cooldowns in and bumped energy cost up instead.
Not like it changes anything for Revenants – Shiro is still the best PvP legend due to stunbreak and you don’t have real alternatives. Not appealing.
(edited by Rym.1469)
Good nerf. More emphasis on energy management instead of introducing more cooldowns.
And be on 60 seconds cooldown, with no AoE cleansing option, without an option to have two or more cleanses at the same time.
I agree.
Old trait system sucked massive dong in general and favoured couple builds and professions.
Specialization system is better, concept-wise, but just imbalanced, clogged with bad/uninteresting trait design and lack of common direction or idea when it comes to some particular cases.
(edited by Rym.1469)
A lot will depend on whether power Rev stays as powerful for S3 or not. If it gets some major nerfs, Wanderer’s builds might be okay.
Splitting up control conditions and DoTs is something I’ve been a huge fan of for a long time. This allows to drop the need for frequent condition cleanses in favour of good accessibility to movement impairing/control ones, but far lesser access to DoT removals.

This post is old but applies more than ever.
Don’t copy the name when you copy a pasta.
As for the interview: Aliud clausum in pectore, aliud in lingua promptum habent
Regarding general state of PvP, combat system and GW2 overall, I won’t repeat after Leman, Aereniel and others.
Cheers loves, the cavalry is nearly here!
Same to what happened to Ramsey’s hounds in opening episode of GoT Season 6 – he fell through the story loophole.
Highly doubt you will see anything else than number tweaks till second expansion. Hf.
That wouldn’t be a bad option.
But, hey, confusing to the mythological “new pvp players”.
Roleplaying.
So we’re back to square one, I guess. Now we will have even less build variety.
Quo vadis, Balance Team?
(edited by Rym.1469)
It’s kinda like Ventari Revenant – not necessarily bad on paper, with simple design that makes sense, but powercreep kills any reason to look at this option.
(edited by Rym.1469)
No. It’s problem wasn’t damage in the first place.
I guess people use focus in pve dungeons, but w/e.
Oh, ley lines…I guess we are back to square one.
Ley lines, dragons, magic, asura devic….hrrrr…..
I think a boon that is soft-counter to conditions by reducing their damage/duration would be overall better than Resistance (which I imagine is really tough to balance), but new anti-DoT boon on top of existing Resistance? No way.
Couple things:
As always, I endorse any tries of making dedicated Ventari builds, it’s just my 2 cents from experience
.

Thanks for ruining it for the rest of the community, y’know all the other players that play PvE or WvW. Congratulations on your great “victory”
who the kitten even uses surge of the mists in wvw, or uses it in pve for anything other than smashing a boss break bar?
Alot of players actually
For PvE it was also a nice addition to the already bad DPS Revenants have
For WvW since Hammer is a must, and the only ranged option, staff was actually a great alternative to Sword/offAxe and offSword (Sword/Shield is complete suicide with that root)So 100% of your weapon options aren’t viable in WvW/PvE anymore? That’s a shame. As a warrior, I’ll continue with my nearly 4 straight years of playing Greatsword in PvE and hammer in WvW.
Wow, nice mentality there.
Every class gets pigeonholed into a specific meta build. Every one. You had a non-meta build receiver dps nerfs when the dps of that weapon is terrible in pve anyway. Rifle got absolutely destroyed for warriors in every aspect of play, but we aren’t crying that our fringe-novelty builds got ruined and we’re now garbage.
Revenant is still a top-2 class in sPvP, viable as any class in wvw, and an excellent support in pve. You’re in a perfectly fine spot in every aspect of the game. Stop being greedy at the expense of everyone else.
but what don’t you get that Rev forum amber warriors also want mallyx to be on par with mes/necro, ventari to be on par with ele/druid and jalis to be on par with pre-HoT bunker guard?
they want all their toys and they want them NOW kitten it.
I don’t really understand the hate. I want all aspects of Revenant to be viable and playable, same for Necromancer and others do for their professions. What’s the problem?
They’ve already nerfed it by the same amount in the past once.
Support weaponset dealing less ridiculous burst damage is the correct decision, but if you think this will change position of Power Rev in PvP, then I guess you will be dissapointed.
