This should have been an easy fix IMO, it’s a reversion basically. They will make a big deal about it (as they have), change it in the last minute with the clock running, and see the gems pour in.

And why do you care what you look like in PvP?

The orange one looks really great with the Mad King Outfit when dyed Celestial.

It was a major sigil of the night. The tonics were spider, candy corn, and concentrated Halloween.

2,000 Bags. I got what is shown below, plus 50 more stacks (12,500) candy corn (I could not fit them all in my inventory, so I had to put them in storage).

To be honest, as a GW"1" player, I feel bad for Gaile. She seems to be forced in the position of a talking head. She is better than that…

And, conveniently, hours before the launch that changed the gold to gems screen…

John, I thought you were the head economist in this game (but I may be mistaken). Out of curiosity, why were you chosen to be the poster for this thread?

I would also like to add that I have never (to the best of my knowledge) converted Gold to Gems anyway, I always just paid real money and bought gems to help support the game, and to make my characters look nice. But, for some reason, this change just does not sit right with me at all.

What I would like to say is that the thing that is most upsetting to me is that the devs spent valuable time redoing this exchange system when the time would have been better spent (IMHO) adding new content.

As was said above, I think the best idea is the leave the default options up front so as not to confuse new people, but add a “Other Amount” button… Sort of like an ATM. You click on that button, and you can type in how many gems you want. Everyone knows what an ATM screen looks like, so that should not confuse anyone.

I gave up on ever getting a legendary weapon simply because it’s the most boring thing I could ever imagine doing with my time. I would literally rather watch paint dry, or grass grow over trying to grind out gold to get a precursor weapon.

“Play the way you want” does not equal “and get everything you want”. If you like to play WvW and PvP, there are things you get that PVE players don’t, like Badges. Also, if you like Fractals, you get Ascended item drops, PVE players do not. To make my Legendary Weapons, I had to do things I did not “want” to do, like play PVE for badges, play Dungeons for tokens, do map completion (including all of WvW). But, I did it because I wanted to make my own Legendary.

All I’m saying is that if you want a pre bad enough, with 5000+ hours played, you should easily have made enough gold to buy one and be done with it.

The beauty of the pre is that, if you are not lucky enough to have one drop, you can always buy one. With 5000+ hours played, even if you only banked 25-30s an hour, you would have enough to buy any pre in the game right now. The system works fine.

I’m on a mid-range server (Gate of Madness) and have done it twice already, once with a Mesmer and once with a Necro. It’s really not that hard at all.

And yes, you do see some forum members making the same points again and again. That truly is not helpful to the review and discussion, in that the devs would prefer a focused, clear, concise statement rather than realizing “Wait, it’s that same person, saying the same thing for the 19th time.”

Gaile, as a GW1 player from way back, I want you to know how much I respect you. But, you know as well as I do that if ANet wants that focused, clear, concise advice, ANet will have to pay for that. Companies are lined up to provide this service. This is a forum and nothing more. Unfortunately, it seems that the advice that ANet paid for so far, and the management direction to this point, has been a bit lacking to say the least.

I work for a big company too. I know the politics involved, and I also am pretty sure that many of ANet’s employees feel the same as many of the people posting here. Unfortunately, like us, we are bound by our upper management’s decisions.

Most of us now are just pretty bored, and starving for more game. Instead, week after week and month after month, we get updates that break the game, and provide no story growth. On top of that, the LS, which was supposed to be our savior, is now updated quarterly. It’s just not acceptable.

Geeze, and as I say that, I log on to find another update. It has to be the 10th in a week. This is not acceptable for a game that has been out for 2 years.

Long story short, we should not have been presented with this “update” in the state it was in. We are all BETA testers at this point, and unpaid for our advice.

BETA, by definition, means it is in the second stage of testing. After 2 years of the game, and 1 year of this BETA, it should not be BETA anymore.

Well, if this is true, then I can say that Anet should not wonder why Dungeons and Fractals are not more populated. This tool is vital to bring NEW players together.

Seriously, is there a reason why a simple LFG tool is BETA after 2 years? I am not a basher, I really would like a real response.

Quite simply, the code needs to verify that you already have a L80. IF Account(L80) = TRUE, THEN RUN [Old], ELSE RUN [New].

And, BTW, the freebies (however small they will be) should be advertised by an e-mail at least. Again, JMHO.

As an Engineering Manager, IMHO, I would promote this team, and take one of each to lead the other teams… For some strange reason, they seem to be the only team that does things right and keeps their schedule commitments.

It’s been a while… Is there any reason why this is still BETA?

Key farming would have gone away if keys actually dropped while playing the game the way it was supposed to be played.

The real reason I posted though was to let everyone know it can happen ANYWHERE at ANY TIME. I guess it’s like getting the Golden Ticket to Willy Wonka’s factory.

I’m sure it did! I’m still waiting for a Dusk drop… I made Sunrise last year, and have been waiting forever because I want to make Eternity (my main character uses a GS). I have a Gift of Fortune and Gift of Mastery, so I could make the Legendary now, but I think I’ll wait in the hopes that the RNG Gods smile on me.

After playing since the 3 day head start, I finally got my first precursor dropped from killing an enemy. It’s not a great one (Rage), but it was cool to finally get one to drop without having to use the toilet. The funny thing is, after all the time I spent in Orr and other level 80 areas, the drop occurred from killing the Cave Troll in Queensdale (a Vet now, not even a champ). So, it goes to show, it can happen anywhere, any time.

BTW, my magic find was at 337% at the time, so that may have figured into it.

No way should the stats be changeable.

I have 2 Legendaries, and 4 Ascended Weapons, and I still say no. It took a year to make each Legendary I have, and only about 2 weeks to make each Ascended. If you want the best, you have to work for it. And, it does not come down to RNG… I never had a pre drop, I had to buy my pre’s from doing things in the game and saving gold. It’s hard, but it should be hard to make a Legendary.

I’ll add that the only way I would support this feature on the Ascended Weapons, is to have the Legendary Weapon stats be 5% higher.

I wonder if external sites, such as GW2Spidy, will be able to interface with the new TP.

Just wanted to say thank you Anet for such a great gift! The gun is awesome, and IMO, the best you have ever done so far for a B-Day gift (GW1 included). With so much negativity going on here, I want to let you know that many people appreciate what you do, and the gift was simply fantastic!

Not really. Maybe PvP and WwW, but if they could introduce a Hero System like in GW1 (or allow our alt toons to be add to our group and PC controlled), then I would be more than happy. Actually, I would probably play more dungeons and fractals then.

I think for 2 years of playing, they should give you an item that launches a precursor crafting scavenger hunt.

So I did my third day tonight. Another wonderful group. We got disconnected because of the DoS attack when we were almost done with the third Fractal. When I logged back in, the ones who got back in first were waiting. We waited for our group to return, and finished the Fractal. Awesome run, and a very nice feeling.

Snabbed one a few days ago. I haven’t used it in case I could have picked my color. Now, I can use it… not that I need to.

Actually, so did I. I won’t use it much (though I have a couple of times for some Dry Top events), but it’s nice to have just in case. This decision is a really nice bonus, I assumed I was just going to have an account bound blue one.

I don’t like fractals because they combine 2 things in the game I do not enjoy playing, dungeons and jumping puzzles. I also only tried them a couple of times the week they came out and had bad experiences with other players (yelling, name calling, quitting, etc.), and for that reason I have not played them since. I do however want to craft Mawdrey to get Mawdrey II, so I decided that I would bite the bullet and do my 5 days of Fractals.

Today was my 2nd day doing them, and to tell you the truth, I had fun. I was lucky enough both times to be with groups that were nice, patient, and real team players. They were L1 and L2 groups, and I let them know ahead of time that I had no Fractal experience. It wasn’t a problem, and both days, we completed the entire Fractal in less than an hour.

Sometimes in this game, as well as in life, you may have to do things you do not enjoy as much as others. But, you need to weigh it against getting something you want out of doing it. 100% map completion (which included WvW) and doing two dungeons for a week were not fun for me either, but I did them because I really wanted to craft my 2 Legendarys. The pain at this point, over a year later, is forgotten when I get to use my Legendary weapons, also knowing I crafted them myself.

So, IMO, If you want Mawdrey II bad enough, take an hour or two a day for 5 days and just do it.

300g for a Commander tag is not too much, regardless of color. If you take into account inflation from when Commander tags first became available, they should actually cost more than 300g now.

Seeing that ANet also is giving us advance warning of the price increase, I think it is more than fair.

Yep I know, but it would take a half a year to get the amount I need.

I filed a ticket last week to ask for gems back because I bought 2 sets of Mad King Outfits before the update. I was refunded 700 gems today, so if any of you have done the same it may be worth your while to ask for a refund.

I wish I could buy some from you. I need to buy some to finish my back piece, and using sprockets in the MF is quite expensive. I hope they just make them sellable at the TP.
