You can farm the green coffers very easily, and they do have a chance to drop a skin. Not as high as rich coffers, but they still can. If you don’t want to gamble, don’t waste real money on the rich coffers…..

Dust should have been this price all along. It’s by far the most useful T6 so SHOULD be higher priced that the other.

No, dust shouldn’t be THIS expensive. It’s required for so much, so it should have a better drop rate. I understand them fixing the broken event in Orr, but I think the drop rate of T6 mats needs to be adjusted accordingly.

I S/TPvP, and I wanted to try necro for a change of pace. My necro was actually my first level 80. PvPing with my necro was like banging my head against a brick wall. Either I wasn’t doing it right, or it’s that weak compared to other classes. Unless someone can enlighten me, and tell me I was probably doing it wrong (MM build), then I’ll shelf it for now.

Yeah, it only disappears if they stealth. It amazes me that people cry about mesmers, when it’s so easy to tell which is the mesmer and which is the clone. I was in Temple of the Silent Storm last night, and I dropped down into the water for tranquility. A warrior followed me. I used decoy, and dodged to bring out another clone. He stayed in the water fighting my clones, while I took tranquility. So I guess I better be nerfed because he was terrible, right?

I rolled a ranger 5 days ago and went straight into PvP after the starting quests. I have been destroying people, so I guess that class should be nerfed, too, right? You do realize most people in SPvP are not the greatest of players, yes? I roll through people on my mesmer because I have played the class for 7 months, and most people in SPvP can’t tell the mesmer from the clones. People panic and don’t know what to do, blow all their CD’s while I’m immune, and die. Then they QQ in map chat about how OP mesmers are. It’s quite funny.

Thanks for the replies. I’m playing with a 30/30/0/0/10 build in Orr just for giggles, and it’s quite powerful. I might try something a bit more group-oriented for dungeons, however. It’s pretty fun so far.

Seeing as how the mantra cast time was decreased again, is it a viable build to use in PvE now? I have been running the typical shatter build for 4-5 months now, and I’d like to try something new. I’d preferably like to make a build around my weapons, as I put a lot of work into them (GS and sword). I’ve never actually tried a mantra build, so it seems interesting. Thanks in advance!

utilities are portal, clones, blink or illusions of life.

Illusion of Life is supposed to get nerfed, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s not used anymore. I just personally can’t decide between a shatter build or a phantasm build. I run shatter in PvE, so I’d like to do something different, but I also want to be viable to my team in TPvP.

It’s not necessary by any means. There are plenty of builds that only go 5 in Illusions.

If you’re not a condition build, staff shouldn’t be your primary weapon. But even if you were, I’d understand your frustrations. It really does lack a punch, but you sacrifice (maybe a little too much) damage for extreme survivability.

And if you’re using Chaos Storm for conditions, you’re using it wrong. You either use it on yourself for boons and Chaos Armor, or you use it on the enemy for physical damage. The occasional interrupt is great; the conditions are too short to be anything useful.

I agree with this, however, you can use staff outside of condition builds if you need more utility and defense. There are shatter PvP builds that incorporate it quite well. It’s not the primary weapon on those builds, either, though. Yeah, Chaos Storm is better put on yourself AND the enemy if you can. The boons it gives can be extremely helpful, and the extra Chaos Armor is invaluable.

Don’t touch my portal! They won’t get rid of it, though, because they’ve already said they are giving portal to other classes eventually.

I posted 3 of my 34 PvP builds on here: “Vampire Lord”, “Potentate”, and “Minion Lord”

Check them out if you like, all 3 are viable in tPvP, but if I had to value them based on usefulness, I’d have to say Potentate is the best build out of the three.

I don’t know if this counts as bugged, but Spirit Watch has been very laggy today. Not just to me, either, but many of my guildies commented on it, as did people in the matches via map chat. I personally lag the entire match, and have disconnected twice. It’s only that map, none of the other SPvP maps do that. Anyone else having this happen?

I just recently started SPvP and TPvP. I’ve been going back and forth from my Mesmer and Necro, however, I find myself playing the Mesmer the most. I can’t decide between a shatter build or a phantasm build. Or, if anyone has another build, I’d consider it! Which build has been working best for you PvPer’s? I have pretty much spent most of my time in GW2 in PvE with some WvW mixed in. I just want to add some PvP to mix things up more. Thanks in advance!

I am considering trying your build, Psych. I just started SPvP, and am rank 7. I was using just some build I made up on the fly…haha. It was working okay, but I know I can do better. I am just reluctant to give up staff, because of all the utility, but I will consider it. Does the focus work well in SPvP with all the movement? I think iwarden would have a tough time, since it’s stationary. Please, enlighten me.

I put in 30 rare greatswords the other day. I got 3 exotics, and Dawn. These rare GS’s cost me nothing, as I get plenty of T5 mats and mithril/elder logs every day. I can make about 10 rare GS’s a day, sometimes less. I wouldn’t recommend buying the swords to throw in, but if you can make them with your own materials; why not? You’ll at least get a few exotics. I made about 17g with the exotics I sold, so that equals far more ectos then if I had salvaged the swords, not to mention the fact I got Dawn, and was able to buy the precursor I wanted.

And there ya go, you are one of the lucky ones. 30 tries for you vs 500 tries for the OP. The only guaranteed way atm to get a precursor is grind your kitten off and buy one. That’s what I did for dawn and kudzu. Of course now i’m taking it easy since grinding gold for those 2 precursors plus the other mats kinda took it out of me

I know, I got extremely lucky. I couldn’t believe it. I was grinding, but I was also saving up greatswords I acquired, just for giggles to throw into the forge. I expected a few exotics at least. Anyway, I hope it sells. Now I’m regretting not just fulfilling a buy order, but I have to wait it out because it was 30g to list it. >_<

My suggestion would be to offer race change only once a character has completed their entire story. Then, they could buy a token from the gem store which could be used on a new Asuran device that can alter one’s appearance entirely. Something to that effect, anyway. :P

Mostly mix and match. It’s mostly human T2 with a few other pieces thrown in, such as the mask and skirt. The sword is Vision of the Mists, and my colors are Midnight Ice, Indigo, and Celestial.

My mesmer. Love the way she looks now.

You dodge when playing an alt, because you need more clones.
You use your F1-F4 keys, trying to shatter.

In WvW, Mesmer is incredibly good at screwing with people. Confusion is a lot of fun in WvW, and as Nikked said, ranged is good, but using both ranged and melee is better. Illusionary Leap to your target, blurred frenzy, shatter, blink out for high burst, immunity, and a quick escape.

Mesmer is awesome for PvE, at least in my experience. Shatter build is a lot of fun, and does great damage. I never have problems getting gold on events, and I’m highly useful in dungeons.

I have both, and I prefer Mesmer over Guardian. Then again, I am more into casters, plus, Mesmers are just awesome.

I actually understand what the OP you quoted is saying. So many people are used to games like WoW where everything is just handed to them, and they come here and complain about every little thing. It has nothing to do with elitism, it’s just what many of us see on a daily basis on forums or map chat.

There are plenty of goals to reach in GW2. Legendaries are just 1 goal, along with achievements, FoTM progression, map completion, WvW and PvE titles, and much more. The “if you like to have a goal” argument is weak. The only “goal” people seem to complain about lacking is the gear treadmill (aka raiding), and if people did any actual research on a game before jumping into it, they’d be far less disappointed.

I am going to start working on HoM soon, actually. I have had GW1 since 2005, but only got to level 17 on a necromancer. I only got the HoM points for linking accounts…so apparently I have a lot to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, they do not. Your mainhand dagger is what hits the mob, the other dagger is just an offhand, it doesn’t actually do any physical hitting. In all honesty, you’re going to find dagger/focus to be a better combination for optimal raw damage. Dagger offhand is usually used with scepter for condition damage.

Definitely check out Nemesis’ guides. I use his builds, and I am never disappointed.

Well if you’re going to talk survival, then yeah, MM would be better because of the toughness from the Death Magic trait line. I still wouldn’t use MM in a dungeon, though, because pet AI is so meh, same with the damage.

Pretty sure it’s guesting. We frequently have a commander and several of his guildies on our server for events, and their guild is not on our server.

Yes its just a pixels and 95% of guild wars population wont become animal abusers because of that but we have children playing here. Proposing that bashing rabbits or kitties to death is rewardable ( which is what anet is suggesting here ) is wrong and i bet in some form – illegal.

It’s just a game. If kids are going to think it’s okay to kill a rabbit because they did it in Guild Wars 2, then maybe they’re too young for this game. People need to take personal responsibility, and you know, actually monitor their kids if they’re so worried about them being desensitized.

This. I don’t think it’s fair that I’m missing out on events because people guesting are taking up all the spots. I haven’t been able to do Shadow Behemoth in 2 days, because I’m constantly put into overflow. I missed Teq last night, too, because of overflow.

I was sad to not get this during Wintersday, despite opening MANY of the boxes. I was hoping it would be added to the Black Lion Chests, but alas, it is not. I am a female, and as such, I LOVE to change my character’s hair regularly. It can be costly, as gem conversion prices keep going up. Here is my suggestion; bring it back! Let it be a rare chance in the Black Lion Chests, just like the Permanent Merchants and the like. I would be eternally grateful to even have a chance at is, as paying 490g for it on the TP just isn’t possible. Thanks!

Can we get a dev to let us know if this is being worked on? The chest events are basically unplayable. My computer was just built two weeks ago, and it well exceeds the minimum requirements for GW2, so I know it’s not that.

Honestly, just change Signet of Domination to increase run speed by 25% instead of condition damage. I never see anyone using that signet, anyway….

Part of why I love Mesmer is because of the purple. I LOVE purple. I hope they add more shades of purple hair in the future! PURPLE!

I run full berserker gear with ruby orbs. I spent most of my time in melee with dual swords. I use Greatsword to pull (Mirror Blade + iZerker) and when I need to drop aggro / recover.

- The recent changes to our auto-attack make it an excellent cleave.
- Sword clones, unshattered, give a steady supply of vulnerability.
- Spike focus targets with diversion (18x Vulnerability) then Time Warp.
- Riposte is a much more reliable damage source now that it has range.
- iSwordsman hits every 3s. Unshattered you can expect it to hit twice before it’s killed.
- Constant vigor, 20% uptime of invulnerability and a low cd block is melee bliss
- 3x leap finishers (2x iLeap, 1x iSwordsman)
- You’ll never be alone in melee (clones!), so the chances you’ll have aggro are much lower. When you do, dodge then blink away. Distance is a great way to drop threat.
- Strong weapon skills mean very little downtime waiting on phantasm or shatter cooldowns.

I lead a PVE guild with anti-mob skipping and exploit policies. I’ve used this setup in every dungeon path and I feel annoyingly effective. The only exception is Subject Alpha where I’ll usually swap GS with Staff.

How does it work in the higher Fractals? I’m currently on Fractals 32, using a shatter build.

What is your build currently? I am using a mantra build, and it’s going really well so far. Both of these builds are awesome for farming….
