Would you prefer ArenaNet put a lock out timer on their dungeons like every other MMO in existence? Your whining is the most pathetic thing I have seen all week.
Yes, yes I would.
Lockout timers were a fantastic implementation when they were originally introduced. From a dynamic standpoint of controlling the player-base and economy to a business strategy for keeping players playing your game longer.
They might of got a little out of hand with the amount of dungeons that got implemented in WoW. But the core reasoning for using lockouts is to control everything in the end game.
And to keep the players around playing the game.
So what the kitten are you complaining about? Glancing through all the rage in your posts you seem upset that ArenaNet have placed a diminishing return on running the same dungeon over and over. Yet you support a one dungeon run lockout (as would I to be honest). You really need some help. Tell me again in one sentence what you are raging about. One sentence, not a friggin wall of rage.

Kids wanting everything in one week, that is the problem with the MMO genre these days. Blizzard can be blamed for a good portion of that player mindset. Its a complete lose / lose situation, get it all and they complain, can’t get it fast enough and they complain, grind too much and they complain, etc.
It is beyond pathetic.
This obviously belongs in the Suggestions forum, wouldn’t you agree?
game has no future. just another failboat.
Hai guyz lets go play WoW an paid $180 a year to do raidz n stuff n get good gearz dat for some reeson they keep making us replace!!!
On the plus side us Australians can keep your realm competitive in WvW. Bassario where did you hear this ‘rumour’?
It only takes 70 hours to get from 1-80, going at a medium pace
And yet, oddly, I’m at 92 hours and lvl 46.
It only takes 70 hours if you’re an idiot who doesn’t get the point of the game.
I absolutely agree I am at 68 hours played at level 41. Posters such as Ganandorf simply don’t get it or don’t understand what it is like to have commitments/social life/responsibilities/work, etc outside of a game.
Wat…Your playing an MMO.
68 hours and level 41 is great, Have you played any other MMO’s out there?
Guildwars 2 by far as the fastest leveling I’ve seen in an MMO.What are you complaining about? I don’t understand? That people have more time to play?
1 lvl = 1 hour somtimes less.
First 10 levels are much faster than 1 hour per level.
max level is 80
Game has been out for 3 weeks
If you play 4 hours a day that’s 4 levels
Level 80 in 20 days
So 4 hours a day means you have no life and have to reevaluate it?What?
Seriously face palming right now.
I’m not complaining at all, I was supporting the person I quoted who was ridiculed by the champion who stated it takes 70 hours to get to level cap (at a medium pace). I disagree with that as I am 2 hours shy of 70 and I am exactly halfway there.
Face palm all you like kid but I have a wife and 2 children and I don’t play the game every day, so your mathematics of level 80 in 20 days following your guidelines mean absolutely nothing to me. Try actually reading posts to get a grasp of the conversation next time.
Yes I am coming across many broken events, I report them as bugs everytime but I am finding myself submitting more bug reports than actually playing at times.
I agree, the zerg mentality really needs some addressing. It cheapens the experience, makes most events feel almost identical and it takes away any strategic element involoved in playing the game. I loved the idea that players could work together with combos to defeat encounters. It is generally such a mess of spell effects, players, mobs and stuff on the ground that you really cant make out whats what or when mobs are animating an attack. That is probably the most disappointing thing about this game. The zerg and its consequences.

Maybe they could reward players with some xp and karma points like a dynamic event reward every time you report a gold seller/spammer!
The issue is self control.
The grind is completely up to you, it’s as much or as little as you decide. It isn’t a requirement that you own every weapon, armor set or achievement in the game. That is a choice.
Please do not confuse the two.
I just normally type kittens instead of typing naughty words such as kitten and kitten.
That’s easy. It is a hobby that is very addicting. The answer is clearly both.
In my experience the rewards for achievements vary depending on the character you complete it on. eg. I will earn more xp and money if I complete it on a higher level character than a lower level alt.
I still haven’t learned how to use a mystic coin.

You’re welcome.
The Trading Post should never have been global, there is just too much over saturation. I am amazed they didn’t make Realm TP’s, at least it would make the TP more interesting and therefore not so ridiculously easy to raise your crafting so quickly and such a low cost.
Remove the holy trinity and what do you get?
People crying about it on the forums?
Yes sadly if there is a fast way to play an MMO these days, the kids will find it, if they can’t they will cry loudly and stamp their feet about it. If it were me there would be an xp loss at death and would take literally 6 months to get to level 80. I’m tired of seeing so much rushing and the need for instant gratification from children in every single MMO released, and even more tired reading about it over and over in forums. Blizzard set a precedence of caving in to a whiny playerbase and dumbing down their game to suit the current generation of players. Now the players expect it everywhere.
The only crafting progress bar I ever liked was in Everquest 2. Release crafting where you could actually die from crafting failures. That was great! I still remember quite fondly my first day of crafting watching 3 people die from crafting within 2 minutes of each other. I was scared.
The fast progress bar in this game is fine. The unique part of crafting in GW2 is the experimentation with materials.
Not that I know of in game,
Here is a list of emotes from the wiki.
In Australia we say :
Quay (no clue wtf that is anyway, so I would pronounce is Kway)
Tre-boo-shay
Sen-taw
min-oh-taw
In Australia we pronounce Quay as Key. Try thinking of our largest capital city. In between its famous Bridge and its famous Opera House we have what is known as Circular Quay.
Here comes the instant gratification crowd that plagues MMOs these days. You aren’t required to do any of it, its completely your choice. If you want something in GW2 (or any other MMO) don’t treat it as ‘work’, do something that you enjoy doing and eventually you will be rewarded for it. If you never manage to obtain something that you think looks great, guess what, you never get it.
Unique, rare or legendary items need to maintain that unique or legendary feel, its what makes striving to get the item/title/pet/mount enjoyable once you eventually do get it. If you had half of the server strutting around with it, it diminishes its value. You don’t have to get them all, so for kittens sake stop thinking you do. Focus on something you really want and make sure you have fun while you’re at it. The game isn’t going anywhere, its a long term deal or are you guys new to MMO’s?
My understanding is that in the US, Quay is pronounced Kway. In the UK (and Australia where I am from) we pronounce it Key.
http://www.macmillandictionary.com/pronunciation/american/quay
This has both pronunciations. Shrug, no big deal. Although nothings really a big deal down under in Straya mate!

I’ve seen the Blood Witch in Kessex Hills wipe a few groups, generally because that is a more difficult DE to zerg because of its location. But for the most part I agree with the OP, the zerg concept just cheapens the gameplay experience. That goes for pvp also. Not sure what you can do to eliminate it though.
I logged on today, US Sea of Sorrows and found 13 mail from gold spammers. As I was deleting and reporting each one I received another 2. Played for a couple of hours and received another 4 mail from gold sellers.
I despise these people and the people that use the services, after all they wouldn’t be there if kittens didn’t use it.
Craft or purchase an Invisible Bag, anything stored in it will never be sent to the collectables bank.
You are brilliant. I’ve always been frustrated that I couldn’t carry a mini pet around with me, cause it would always get sent to the collectables if I sent my other stuff.
Never thought of using an Invisible Bag. Thanks for this advice!
I must admit I love the ‘send all collectables’ function but also was dismayed when it sent my pet packing as well. It just so happened that I was on the way to a crafting station to make some bags, discovered the Invisible Bag recipe and immediately thought “now that bag would have helped!”
I agree, I think 500 would be a fair stack size number.

Absolutely.
/5 more chars!
I thought Diablo 3 did a nice job on giving numbers in its UI to help easily understand its mechanics and numbers when swapping gear, etc.
No, Condition Damage will increase Bleed Damage.
It is a free Elite Skill without having to spend points, so that is a nice bonus regardless. As a Ranger it obviously gives me two pets so its quite useful for those ‘oh skritt’ moments. Not sure of the damage output from the Mistwolf but it seems to be quite reasonable.
(edited by Salt.4621)
Skritt off, mother skritter! Is fast becoming a fave.
Welcome to the big time! Population, me!
Yes I had an interesting time getting a Skill point in Gendarran Fields last night (Australian time, so off peak US time), solo effort (well me and my Ranger pets) with myself a Veteran Ettin guarding the Skill point and about 17 other Ettins that decided they wanted to respawn for the lulz. I managed to do it with multiple pet deaths but afterwards I seriously felt like I earned that Skill point. It was hard because of the respawn rate but I must admit I enjoyed it due to the difficulty. I won’t forget it either.
No need to buy them, Gw2 will feature consistent free content updates and in-game events going forward. Our goal is to make it so you get more from Gw2 for free than you get from a game you pay a subscription for.
On top of a large amount of free bonus content, we will be expanding on offerings in the Black Lion Trading Company going forward, as well as be doing large-scale expansion content down the road.
We’ll cover a lot of the details on the kind of support and plans we have in place over the next month or so on the Gw2 blog and with our press partners.
We do appreciate that you’d like to buy lots of new content, but we’d prefer to give a lot of it to you for free, cause that’s what we think a responsible MMO company does!
Colin, after reading this I made a beeline to your ingame Norn character that I found yesterday in Hoelbrak (and got a nice little chuckle out of) and dutifully /kneeled down at your feet. I’ve been there for 4 1/2 hours and counting.
Seriously though, this is why I am so proud of you guys at ArenaNet. Awesome news!
I think its a great idea! The game isn’t going anywhere and collectable items give you something to achieve over a long period. Likewise to crafters and someone lucky enough to find a rare popular dye, it can be a nice little sale on the TP. If it were account bound that would be an incredibly different story. MMOs need some long term options, there seems to be so much instant gratification expected these days.
Your alts don’t need every colour in the spectrum, why not pick a base colour and work on supplying that character different shades of that colour? eg Mesmer shades of Blue/Purples. Guardian shades of light colours, Warrior shades of dark colours, Rangers shades of green, etc.
Yeah thats a good idea, PM me and let me know!
Thank you ArenaNet, the best MMO I have played in a long, long time.
The artists have done an incredible job and the overall polish and presentation in the game is amazing. Great work guys!
I absolutely agree with you, to be honest I really only like the human characters but really enjoy the other races specific zones. Charr are ugly and too large, Sylvari I really wanted to like but just can’t, Norn are too big and seem like they lack intelligence and the little guys Asura are awesome but I don’t really like the squashed armor appearance. Human shows great detail in their armor and clothing and to me is just more appealing.
I am guessing that completing the fashion achievement will be a level 80 thing … sadly. If it were just level 30 I’d be happy, play through their stories, delete and make a human character of that class!
When you have 18 melee zerging an encounter and 13 ranged classes chiming in, spell effects flying, its pretty much difficult to see anything at all, let alone animations or ground effects.
I have the same problem.
Drosser, try binding some keys to your pet commands and leave it on passive. You can do some very useful things playing your Ranger in that way. Sure it is a little more to think about and react to but once you are used to it, it makes life as a Ranger that much better.
Using your pet (sending it in, calling it back, etc) is fundamental to giving the class an added layer of complexity. I really enjoy this aspect to the class.
I often send my pet to different targets to ‘pull’ them together and AOE, use it to pull mobs over traps I have placed, know when to just leave it at your side (which I have as default). Sometimes I will just use my pets unique abilities and bring it back to me. I’d be lost without my furry companion.
Trying to understand why GW would benefit from this at all….
Its just a gimmick. Time and effort would be best placed elsewhere.
There are many ‘gimmicks’ in an MMO, being able to view your character online, your gear, character build, general game statictics, achievements, guild stats, pvp stats, WvW stats for me would be a great addition. Perhaps you wouldn’t be interested but I’d argue that many would be. It’s another level of polish in a game that has done a lot of polishing.
Has an online Player Character Armory been announced or mentioned by ArenaNet? An official site where you can view your characters, their gear, comprehensive stats, etc. Most MMOs have them, I was wondering if ArenaNet were looking at this.
And with some luck you could have gotten 10 BLSKs.
Killing dragon or doing dungeons are a waste of time then since repair bills are expensive and the loot is random, yes?
I think the idea of having fun and or entertainment is completely lost on you.
