I’m surprised there aren’t more leaderboards and comparable competitive achievements and stats in the game or other MMOs. MMO players are ridiculously competitive by nature and love having their name up in lights, or that special gear, mount, etc. I am guessing its because 95% of the MMO playerbase were shunned at school, maybe bullied, have very few friends if any at all, are unemployed, have poor personal hygiene, etc. Its a chance for them to be a keyboard warrior for a moment and actually become someone or something that they never could possibly achieve irl. More developers should be aware of this fact.
Its almost the 27th already here in Australia. I wish the rest of the world weren’t so ridiculously slow all the time.
There are bits and pieces of cultural tier 3 (Human) I like but other than that I’m not keen on them. At that price I’m guess I’m lucky I feel that way.
You can go either way guys will complain one side and be on the other side next post. You really can’t satisfy everyone so all companies can do is this. Stick to what they advertise any change will make the ride or die people bail. Look at the lost shores update. Just a hint of gear upgrade made people cry. Can you imagine actually putting trinity in this game now? The QQ would turn super saiyan and blow the planet up.
I absolutely agree with you. As much as I’d personally like the game to have a trinity system in place, there isn’t a snow balls chance in hell of it happening for the reason you’ve stated. Thats why I’ll just wait for yet another MMO … someone will get it right sooner or later.
If the game were better in places, had a trinity and more class definition, had a better reason to spvp than useless skins, I’d gladly pay a sub.
No trinity in an MMO was a great sales pitch for ArenaNet, sadly after playing the game it quickly becomes apparent as to why MMOs use a trinity based system. Poor dungeons, same encounters, little to no class difference. People were saying this at release, they’re still saying it now, I’m just waiting for ESO or some other MMO to commit to. This is ok for some short periods of gameplay here and there but thats about it.
I have dodge bound to my middle mouse button.
I’d prefer an in depth housing system to anything else in the game, period. Dungeons I don’t particularly like, sPvP is 85% Thieves for obvious reasons (hate it), WvW is average. Hearts and World exploration is fun but that eventually runs out. Housing with crafting heavily involved, rare collectables, etc would be a great addition.
Dear Anet Staff
I bought this game because you promise a lot of innovative and intresting things like:
- No Grinding: but now there are 60 hours to get 80, 20 hours for exotic gear, 30 runs in fractal for ascended rings. I don’t know what do you mean with grind but 120 hours to get a full equipped character for me is quite long.
- You can do all you prefer to get what you want: I MUST do fractal for ascended ring, I MUST do daily for ascended amlet, I MUST do guild mission for ascended earings, I MUST do PvE for equip (or at least is the better choice). I want to do WvW and PvP, why if i play the 80% of my time in the mist i can’t get something for my charr for wvw? Why i have to do daily fractal to get the ring that i need to be competitive?
- Is better have more character for a better experience of play: You promise it, you said that there are achievements that you must do with different profession, and after you put the lvl of fractal character bound and now you say that the wvw rank will be character bound too.
Why did you change your philosophy on how this game should be?
Go and play some console games that have a start and an end, MMO’s aren’t what you’re looking for.
I can’t play a Necromancer simply because of the horrendous noise they make with almost every single attack, over and over and over…
That’s interesting Blackwolfe, but unless ArenaNet make it easy for people to report bots, people simply won’t do it. Taking a screenshot then mailing it is too much work for most people out there.
Always design game features around the central tenet that your players will ALWAYS take the path of least resistance.
Yes, I made notes of 4 players node hacking in Dredgehaunt Cliffs, I missed another 6 or so due to the speed they move, didn’t quite catch their names. When I had finished playing I took the time to report them via email. Its a pain in the kitten though, a /who zone feature would be nice with a list a players currently in that zone so you could right click their names and report – with a brief note.
Hello Guild Wars 2 Developers,
It NEVER saves time, it only costs more time because there is always someone who dies later on and then he/she has to walk back, again past those same “skip”-packs, and dies again and again because noone wants to run back to help kill those packs like they were supposed to do in the first place, also, half the time skipping fails in the progress and then the whole group ends up dead and the whole story start over again.
I so much agree with this. I mentioned to a group leader that it would be just easier to take the few minutes to kill a few mobs that were repeatedly killing the group. Reply was “NO! ITS NOT FASTER!!” I was then removed from the group. That was my experience in one of my first Explorable Dungeons and I can’t say I really wanted to do them again.
I heard that Elvis is actually a Quaggan.
They’re the very same people who jump on the forums and complain that ArenaNet force them to grind. I agree with you OP, I’m amazed at how incredibly boring people can make this game for themselves. I couldn’t do an event more than twice before I was completely over it, but all day every day?
I’ve also seen a heap of these bots. Ridiculous.
Hire Jay Wilson and double everything.
They should hire Jay Wilson to ‘just double everything’. I’d love to see the entire zerg getting wiped.
I think the dailies are very good as they are right now. Some nice additions, complete 5 out of 9, what’s not to like?
I bash Spiders and Rats. I do not kill Raccoons or Rabbits, I feel dirty…

“Your face is funny. All squished and weird.”
What expansion?
The expansion they’ll announce to counter The Elder Scrolls Online.
Just put it on YouTube and send an email to ArenaNet support.
I agree. In my opinion it is massively out of balance with other reward systems in the game, and the lagging mess of players supports that opinion. I managed to auto attack once maybe twice at the Maw Shaman before he died within a few seconds, and walked off with a Rare, some Greens and Blues. Most encounter mechanics are completely irrelevant with the amount of players at these events, its boring, its a frame rate disaster, its laggy, its not fun at all – yet the rewards are arguably the greatest in the game considering their frequency, time to complete and difficulty (or complete lack of any). These are the flaws with these public ‘dynamic events’. Not easy to balance in terms of rewards and challenge.
If you like it, enjoy it while it lasts because I have no doubt at all it will be changed – once again.

Yep, guaranteed rares from a 397 player zerg pf a world boss that lasts about 5 seconds is disgraceful. Its just free loot for auto attacking. I managed to auto attack twice before a boss died, perhaps only once. Gold medal and a chest with a level 80 rare, some greens and blues. The player zergs will just continue if this free loot lasts like this.
Nerf it please ArenaNet.
Yes I love the frame rate of 12 in these encounters. It adds so much to the game.
Click to move was a good 80% of the reason I despised GW1. I agree that party chat should stay.
Player Housing!
Add trinity….
Add raid dungeons…..
This.
I miss tanks, healers and cc that lasts longer then 2 seconds. I also miss interesting encounters that the trinity can provide. Raids should be in also but no more than 10 man.
I hope Tybalt is dead still. I hate the way Charr speak with that saliva sound, they sound almost as silly as they look. Almost.
I think the drop rate of ‘rares’ should be lowered a little. If not change them to ‘commons’.
LOL you’ve just done your monthly quota of Veterans on the first day of a 31 day month. Please do not ever come to the forums and complain that ArenaNet forces you to grind or this game is a grind. Ever.
I just hit 80 on my first character (a Ranger), bought a box, saw it was disabled, googled the problem and then read this.
:(
Identify of course. Games are supposed to be fun, I find more fun in identifying it to see if it is a colour I need. Selling it on the TP doesn’t seem like much fun to me.
My level 70 Ranger did Spelunker’s Delve in Caledon Forest yesterday and got 2 level 1 blues!
…
I’m sorry for the wall of text I tried to space it as much as possible for ease of viewing.
No problems Colin. Looks pretty good.
Its a lottery, its how it is supposed to be. Having a fixed result after a certain amount of attempts is asinine. I like it the way it is.
Absolutely yes. Leveling was the best part of the game.
No here as well. I don’t want all the gear everyone has worked for up to this point to instantly be rendered obsolete and for us to have to go through all that all over again.
I’m confused by this answer. You say no more levels and no more gear. So what now exactly?
Greatsword skill number 5 is so bad. I can rush towards a stationary target in front of me. Overshoot and miss the attack/swing at air behind the enemy.
THIS! So much this.
My character does an airswing and hits nothing about 8 times out of 10, with the other 2 actually working as intended. I lodged a ticket regarding this in the first two weeks of the games release. I haven’t played for months and recently returned and was surprised and annoyed that this had not been addressed. Really ArenaNet? Really?
I love GS on my Warrior but she only has 4 skills instead of 5. What would it take to get this fixed?
Hey guys,
i haven;t played in about 3 or 4 months. so tell me.. whats new in the game?
are instances still bugged to hell and back ? is DR still kittening people?over all is the game worth playing again?
Why don’t you do what I did, install the latest update while you’re doing something else, then actually play the game and see for yourself.
I think the daily achievements are too easy.
It’s because she has been eating all of her “sweet, sweet honey!”
I spent yesterday killing Veteran and Champion mobs with the specific aim of doing it solo. I recorded 19 kills and disregarded the further 14 that were not solo as other player(s) ended up joining in even if just for a second. I can positively guarantee those 19 were completely solo.
I received absolutely no loot whatsoever on 7 occasions, 3 drops were grey vendor trash items worth a few copper and the remaining 9 were a mix of mostly blue items, crafting materials and some greens.
Put them in an invisible bag. Problem solved.
If you alt tab out of the game just log out, logging in and out in this game is incredibly fast in comparison to other MMOs.
I like this idea a lot. Most of the time I don’t even know if its bad crap or good crap it gets pretty messy but i am fairly new to the game.
I see alot of people agree and it’s just not me. I wonder when anet will do something about this.
I would like to ask Colin; Why do you think killing trash mobs is more important than killing veterans or champions?
If you don’t? Why is it the case?
Yes I’d like to ask Colin the same question to be honest.
I agree with this, have ArenaNet commented on why it’s like it is? Kind of silly for the time and risk involved that they don’t have better loot tables.
The party of intrepid heroes led by their guide, the one known as Tim, stealthily climb up the embankment and look down at their target.
Heroes Leader: ‘Guys, hold one sec.’ (peering down) ‘Where is it?’
Tim the Enchanter: ‘THERE!’ (pointing)
Generic Sylvari Mesmer: ‘What? Where?’
Tim the Enchanter: ‘THERE!’ (spittle flying, pointing wildly)
(sitting amongst a litter of bones, outside the entrance to a cave sits a lone chicken)
Generic Asura Guardian: (trying to get a better look) ‘Lulz! What, behind the chicken?’
Tim the Enchanter: ‘NO! IT IS THE CHICKEN!’
xXDestroyzrXx Generic Human Warrior: ‘ROFL! Ima goin in guyz!’
Tim the Enchanter: ‘NO! Wai….’ (xXDestroyzrXx charges down at the chicken)
(censored this is after all a T Rated game)
Tim the Enchanter: ‘I TOLD you…’
